Clarification on a dominion rule

Alright I had been lead to believe that this rule:

2. The faction must construct a believable plot for the duration of the role-play and present some sort of opposition for it's members.
Meant that there had to be some kind of enemy that the faction to win against. That specifically this rule had been created to stop humanitarian style dominions which were considered "boring." However tonight I have been told that I was wrong, and that humanitarian or any other type of dominion not involving taking over the planet from someone else in some means is not required.

Now I am very sleepy, and very confused. So I figured the safest thing for me to do is just ask the source for clarification.

I would think that Humanitarian efforts, if written out with an end-goal and purpose, would be perfectly fine for a dominion.

As far as it being peaceful, well - we're talking about whole planets here. Hundreds of thousands of people. Not everyone is going to be OK with someone else swooping in to assume control, so I think it is safe to say that even during peaceful efforts you will still have some opposition from the populace, even if the main portion of the planet's current leadership agrees to it. Rebel parties and meddling kids, you know.

Clarification: Humanitarian Dominions have never been frowned upon or ruled as invalid. In fact, a number of interesting Dominions occurred without a shot. Not every planet has to be taken by force, and there's story in that act. There's conflict in that act. Whether the opposition is a raging planet-wide superstorm or an insurrection against the rightful ruler of the planet, the rule was drafted to ensure that planets were not plucked without serious effort and story.

Opposition does not mean an invasion, but it does mean a pve enemy that can be defeated.

Humanitarian aid the enemy is... disease?

Hence the confusion from the rule.

No. Opposition means a resistant or opposing force.

Invading militarily? We should see guns coming out. Or wildlife attacking, if you wanna go the Avatar route.
Giant storm threatening to wipe out all life in the capital city? Sounds like an opposing force to your actions to me.

Some more examples:
LoTF Dominion of Phu: We infiltrated a massive casino and neutralized gang/cartel threats whilst also using mind powers to control gamblers and win money.
LoTF Dominion of Rakata Beta: One of our members married into the Rakatan ruling family to reign over the planet.

It doesn't always have to be military-based, that's just plain boring if everything is just straight up "pewpew i killed u!"

There are only so many times you can stretch believability to fight nameless goon pirates/criminals/rebels before you want something different. The result is the same whatever the plot, and so long as it’s not just single line posts then it’s a plot.

OP is just finishing one which is rescuing people from a natural disaster. Something different from killing goons.

It makes the story and the process of dominions funner if you have an interesting story behind them. Like from what @[member="Dranok Lussk"] and @[member="Tegaea Alcori"] have said...there's only so much pew pew you can do xD

The purpose of the dominion is to spread your influence over that portion of the galaxy. The dominion could be a political debate followed by a treaty signing, it doesn't have to be a hostile take over. For instance, a planet could agree to allow you to build an outpost on their soil in exchange for protection and still count as being in your influence cloud.

Clarification: Be inventive so that your faction experiences something new every Dominion, or else they'll get bored. As long as the planet joins your faction through some use of story/plot, I don't really care how it's done as long as some effort is shown.

Speed RP is fine, not every post has to be an excerpt from Mark Twain. But don't make it consistently look like you're not even paying attention to what you're typing. Don't just be filler text. Move the plot along.

Sorry I also had another two questions myself, but best I get it all right at the start.

First Question:

Dominions must have a minimum of 5 unique writers posting in it.

Invasions - Both factions must have a minimum of 5 members per side.

Are these the same thing above, 5 unique for both?

Second question:
Does this prohibit alts joining in addition to this 5 member rule, for either type of thread, at different locations in the thread.

They are indeed both the same thing. They must have 5 unique writers which means that 5 different members on SWRP must be posting in it. You can absolutely add in other characters, but the minimum of unique writers has to be met in order for the dominion/invasion to be a success.

Invasions are different, however, as you can request aid from other factions be they Major or Minor. The rules for invasion faction aid limit foreign assistance to 10 characters. For instance, I can have 10 characters on this account and I could use all of them to help my ally in an invasion and doing that would put them at the limit of foreign assistance.
