SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • The Pack Survives: Designed in a way that resembles the Trinity stones with each ship acting as a point and creating a powerful shield that overlaps and layers itself using their shields. It is designed to exponentially increace the defensive capabilities of a fleet.
  • Omnidirectional: Designed and improved with onmidirectional shielding allowing the planetary shield to wrap around the ship itself and act as a containment for the hyperspace window that is opened.
WEAKNESSES
  • The lone wolf Dies alone: The strength of the advanced shielding system is that it is stronger together and when along it does not have any effective strength.
  • Tip of the spear: The generators where the bubble shield it produced is the weakest as it is produced and connects but creates the overlay network of shields.
  • Disabled: The design of the shield turns off standard shielding for the ships/vehicles/facilities that would otherwise be on. Then switching them over can take time.
  • Mobility: While the ships can move they have to maintain pace with each other to keep the shield bubble over it.
  • Solid: The shield that is created when the phalanx system is used is a solid bubble created by the ships... this is good for defense but it doesn't allow attacks or other ships to pass through.
  • Directional: The fatal flaw of the unit is that its shielding when being used shuts down weapons and conventional shields. THe projected gate being on both sides and making a double-blind where shots fired from the ship would warp around the corresponding shield. Forward firing would send friendly weapons into their engines.
  • Friendly Units: Another major drawback and why these are not recommended for fleets is friendly damage. As one ship can warp and send shots into the depths of space... fleets would be sending shots into other ships near them.
  • Stationary: When using the more advanced methods of their shielding the ships cannot move quickly.
DESCRIPTION
Designed after the tales of the ancient trinity stones, the Atrisians spending a great deal to get one of the stones or at least a fragment or it... Krass went to work on the shielding technology they commissioned... something that would be able to create overlapping shields between teir fleet and the idea came to her. Expansive shielding with each ship acting to expand and stretch the others so they would be thinner but they would also be overlapping each ship. So unity becomes stength and the more ships the stronger it can become... on the downside it meant that it was largely ineffective with single ships and the shield itself was a solid layered shield that gained more layers with the amount of ships they had aroud them. The solid shield couldn't be passed through with other ships or weapons either energy based or kinetic. That was another downside but it could also help protect the fleet as it was being used in situations or progressing forward. The next part was making it so it would be used with vehcles and facilities in some cases on stations or within clustered areas like cities. THe years of research and development of various shielding units have given Sasori and its engineers much better understanding and the experiments with the shields of actuation have bolstered some research into manipulaating hyperspace itself. Enough that as a tertiary effect it could be added and tried on the shields.

Aight, so cool design, frankly I'm reading over this and wondering why I haven't seen more stuff following this concept. Overall very nice, very polished sub. Couple minor things to observe, however, chief among them being the line about different mount types. The concept makes sense overall, but it does leave questions as to some of the more practical applications. These being:

--How many ships/facilities/other would be required for minimum effectiveness? Is there an upper limit? (you kinda reference this in one of the weaknesses)
--Would the ships/facilities/emitter devices be considered weakpoints in the shield, or are they covered by the shield as well?
--When mounted on mobile objects like ships, how does the shield affect mobility?

I wouldn't mind seeing a little more explanation for those factors before I sign off on this sub.
