Private Blue-Milk Run Gone Sour

It was supposed to be a typical run.

Easy peasy blue milk run with supplies along the border worlds. Especially down the Hyperlanes. Nothing major. He wasn't even hauling anything he figured was worth much. Then again. Medical supplies and nutrient goods were always a hot commodity it seemed when you operated outside the Law. Probably what had made his ship especially appealing.

His drop from Hyperspace greeted by a small gathering of vessels that had given him little more than the politeness of a message to power down and surrender before they tore up his hull.

Making sure to take a good look at each vessel before following their instructions.

Taking a good deal of self control in the entire time they had him at gun point to not start a fight with the nearest in arms reach. Instead letting them pilfer through the store rooms and every nook, cranny, or hollow they believed held storage space in the ship. Once they were satisfied that they'd gotten what they'd wanted transfered over, they had attempted to seize the ship after sizing it up.

The speed he'd grabbed his pistol from the pilots seat catching the first off guard that had spun around to shoot him. Almost a painful thing for Eli really. He'd been a friendly sort.

But not friendly enough as Eli held the rodians body close to him as a shield against the next few Blaster shots. The thugs retreating across the boarding tube when it was clear their human captive was more tenacious than presented. Appearing to grow larger than originally sized up as the firefight went on. Hounding them back as the docking tube retracted and nearly ripped the side free from its mount.

The startup for the reactor was too slow as their vessel rounded and got clear. Letting loose with enough weapons to leave him with a third of his engines, and gaping holes in the hull as the cabin door sealed.

Enough power flowing to get off a distress signal with his coordinates as three vessels tried to wear down his shields. The nose of the Long Haul pressed towards the planet below before the single engine flared to life. The others sparking and glowing red hot as warnings blared in the cabin. A silent prayer to the stars to get him to ground at the very least as the whole vessel began to shake and shudder at atmospheric entry.

The attacking ships peeling away as it became more clear that the Long Haul wasn't making it out of the steep dive.

His elbows popped and groaned as he tried pulling back the controls, angling the belly against the trees that seemed all too eager to welcome him. A section of the hull pulled itself free. Along with an engine assembly as the air made the sealed door vibrate and howl. The myriad of trees and dark space beneath them filling his view as he tensed before the ship disappeared beneath the canopy.

He didn't know how long it had been.

Waking to find heat covering his face. Blinking only to wince at the sharp sting the swamped his right side. A hand dabbing gently before finding crimson there. A deep breath in as he tried to orient himself. His legs like jello after a hard day on the freight docks. Trying to straighten up and finding that staying hunched over brought less pain. Had he landed? Or did someone throw him out the airlock?

"Ho-chit." His bearings slow to return as he stumbled across a seat, the dancing orange and yellow lights slowly forming into something familiar.

The controls of the ship scorched and burning now as the remaining engines either burned with uncontrolled fuel or simply from heat. Portions of the hull ripped back as though a great beast had been searching for its last morsels. The sound of the jungle around the ship silent as he fumbled around, the door still sealed tight to the exit.

From the New Cov enclave high up on the New Cov mountains, Valery had watched it all happen. A ship crashing down from the skies with others in pursuit, only to break off when it was inevitable that the freighter would crash. It wasn't the first time a ship had crashed into the jungle this way — New Cov had a pirate problem going back thousands of years. But something about what she witnessed drew her attention to it even more this time.

She was going to help.

Luckily, Valery knew how to safely navigate through the jungle like no other, and moved much faster than any person or speeder ever could. The jungles were dense, and the ship had fortunately crashed far away from the domed cities, so it was entirely surrounded by lethal nature.

Out there, she felt there was at least one survivor, but if they didn't know where they were, this jungle would devour them long before they even made it a mile closer to the cities.

Soon enough, Valery reached the crash site and spent only a short moment looking around. Crashed ships could potentially have secondary explosions, so she quickly focused on her senses and allowed them to guide her towards the living person she felt on board. It was only one, but every life mattered to a Jedi.

"Anybody out there?" Valery called out, as soon as she reached a closed door, "Stand clear of the door!" She called after, before waiting several seconds. Valery then placed her hand against the metal, and in an instant, the entire door shattered into tiny fragments to reveal whoever was still stuck inside.

He didn't have to try hard to keep below the dark clouds inside the cockpit. Between the light-headed feeling and the dizzying blur of colors, he could barely keep his legs beneath him in a steady step. The floor felt just as hot as the air. Or maybe he was on the roof. His whole world was topsy-turvy still as he crawled forward.

The floor paneling the only familiar thing aside from that strange sensation of warning he got. A gut instinct that made him pause.

He swore he heard someone hollering. Or maybe more controls had caught fire behind him. It was hard telling. The whole cabin rolled with smoke as the voice filtered through. The warning about the door making him attempt to roll sideways. Feeling as though he'd been pressed to the floor while he moved.

The barrier between inside and outside blasted apart like brittle duracrete rather than protective metal.

"Here!" A usually booming voice choked out. One hand freeing itself to grab his cap and cover his mouth as smoke laden air filled his lungs. His eyes stung with tears trying to push himself upright. A stumbling step towards salvation and that voice.

"Here!"

As soon as Valery heard the voice and pinpointed the source, she raised her hand and projected a barrier around him. The thick smoke was driven away in an instant, and the injured man would feel a rush of fresh air from outside meeting him instead. Valery hoped that would offer him some more strength, or at least enough oxygen to not collapse within the crashed ship.

She could carry him out, sure, but she'd rather just have him walk. He wasn't a small guy, after all.

"Come on, lean on me if you have to, and we'll get out of here," Valery said as she stepped closer to offer a shoulder to lean on. Whether he wanted to or not, she pulled his arm around her shoulder, and started walking until dust and smoke were replaced by a clear sky and jungle all around them.

"I have a medpack with me. Where are you hurt?" She asked while she just kept walking to get more clearance from the burning ship.

Little did she know that it was about to explode and send them flying.

Confusion fought with the sensation of safety as the air around him cleared.

His chest burned all the while he kept moving. Clear air giving him enough to push off a knee to wobble and stand. Accepting the shoulder to lean on and not arguing about the pull on his arm, the sound of chaos unfolded around them. Metal groaned, buckling as they passed. Glowing orange metal forming holes as the sound of air shifted from a harsh roar to a steady whistle-whine.

The short jump down enough to jar some of his senses back to answer.

"Easier to say. What doesn't." An exhausted heave of his chest as fresh air and what was in his lungs fought. Humor his only option to keep himself calm and while getting his bearings. Their surroundings finally beginning to make sense as they moved away from the wreck. Jungles? The image of the navicomputer showing New Cov flickered in his thoughts. That explained the low life's he'd run into. Planet always had the leeches hanging around.

The whistle-whine behind them shifting to a shrill squeal without warning. Growing with every beat of his heart in volume.

A fuel line cut loose, packing a newly formed pocket within the hull before the molten bubble popped and sent fire trailing down the line and back to the source. Fuel tank building pressure like a boiled over kettle as liquid and gas buckled the tank seams fighting for space. Bits of hull along with leftover cargo sent sideways and skyward from the explosion that rocked the ground. Sending a shockwave out from the already crippled freighter.

The few moments of cognizant thought he had only allowing him to curl the drawn arm tight.

Curling into a ball reduced how much could be hit right? He would have been a goner if his rescuer hadn't arrived. More a shame if she'd got hurt now. He tried to put himself between the explosion and her. The shockwave caught up, knocking the wind out of him and sending them flying.

He'd stayed conscious this time at least, and the stinging in his eyes had lessened enough to stare at his rescuer.

"Well. Everything hurts." Which wasn't entirely a lie. The stinging in his right eye returned slowly, or more like the whole side of his face. Ugly speckling of color blooming across his whole right side from slamming his face into the controls on impact as the dark colors on his cheek seemed to shimmer in places under the sun.

"Ugh..."

Valery groaned in mild pain and frustration after climbing back up to her feet, only inches away from where Elicar had landed. It could have been a lot more awkward with the way he had shielded her from the blast, but they had gotten lucky. Or, well, she did — Elicar had taken the hit for her and looked even worse than he did before the explosion. To make matters worse, there was only so much she could do for him.

"This is probably not the news you wanted to hear, but... I'm not a healer," Valery said with a sheepish smile. In fact, she could barely heal with the Force at all beyond some basic self-healing. "I can only patch you up a little with first aid, and we'll have to get you some proper help at the Temple." She could also bring him to the city, but after taking that hit for her, she was going to get him even better help.

Few things worked as well as a Bacta tank and Force Healing.

"I'm uh, Valery by the way," she then added, having realized they skipped introductions earlier. Her fiery gaze then finally turned to the man, and she noticed something about his skin in the sunlight.

She was staring at it a little too obviously.

He'd been thrown about for what felt like hours.

His face bearing the second worst bit of his luck compared to the sharp pain in his back. From the distance between them, she didn't look hurt so that was a plus. Or at least didn't act hurt. Her slow rise paired with words as he touched his face and winced.

A healer? Why would someone be a healer? Medic yeah but a h-

"A Jedi." The connection finally being placed as he closed his right eye and looked at her with the left. A small set of coughs keeping him down for a moment. The city was going to be a trek. Well. Anywhere was going to be a trek hauling his sorry butt around.

Slowly sitting upright with a groan.

"Valery? Lovely name." Giving her as best a smile as he could manage. Her eyes appearing fixated on him as concern grew.

"Elicar, " Looking at his hand before trying to self examine with one eye. "Is it that bad?"

Aside from the shimmering colors made more blatant by the dark bruises, each twist and turn of visible skin caught the light just right.

Valery blinked when she realized she had been staring at his skin and the way it responded to light. Her Keshian eyes in particular picked up on the finer nuances too, so it looked... beautiful to her. The compliment about her name pulled her out with a sheepish smile at first though, but one that quickly warmed up. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Elicar," she said, finally a little more composed again.

She really shouldn't be staring at people like that.

"I'm uh, a Jedi, yes," she then confirmed with a slightly embarrassed chuckle. "It's not great, but I just don't think we should take any risks, hm? You hit your head, so you could have a concussion or some form of internal bleeding that we can't see right now." She hummed in thought for a moment, then turned around to head back towards the Temple.

"Let me know if you feel like you can't continue anymore. We'll figure something out," she said with a reassuring smile. "And while we walk, can you tell me what happened?"

The smile didn't fade.

"Pleasures all mine." His hands firmly against the ground as he slowly rose.

Squarely on his knees when she mentioned the possible brain damage. Internal bleeding. All that business as he gave an affirming grunt. Hadn't been the first time he'd hit his head on something. Had been the first to be knocked out by it. Probably some wisdom to her words as he pushed off the ground.

"I'll trust you on that. Everything tastes kind of like metal anyhow." Standing on his own two feet finally, he felt like a strong breeze might throw him down.

Even if it meant crawling though, he'd make it.

"Haven't given up the ghost yet. We'll make it." A deep draw of air solidifying resolve as he let her lead. Steps slow and unsure at first with a slow glance backward at the remains of the ship.

He'd come to like that overgrown shuttle. Shame it had gone down like this. A shake of his head before clicking his tongue once in thought.

"Uh. Well. Took a charter for materials and medical supplies from Coruscant. Shipping office had. Asked for me. Or someone had." His hands stretched out against the trees they passed to keep himself upright.

The uneven movement was making him feel sick.

"Kid looked. Fresh? New. The one that asked for me. Other than that. Job didn't seem weird. New Cov always. Had these kind of. Issues." The Jumpsuit kept pulling in a spot, and he paused long enough to let a hand run across the spot to find something sharply poking him. Along the backside of his waist, something out of sight was there.

A frown appearing for a split second as he wiped his hand against the back pocket and shrugged.

"Took the usual route here. Dropped from Hyperspace, and those chit-heads were waiting." He continued on without mentioning the other issue. It didn't seem to be doing more than sticking, and when the pain finally hit he would be more than able to describe what it was.

Valery watched him closely.

He looked like he was about to fall over at any moment, and even though he seemed a bit heavy for her to carry, she'd find a way to help him get to the Temple if she needed to. His pain was almost palpable as well, and made her wonder if there was more to his injuries than hitting his head. But unless he spoke up to address that himself, she wouldn't pry too much. There was little she could do about injuries, anyway.

Out here, in the jungle, it was best to keep wounds covered too — it was far too easy for them to get infected otherwise.

"Ah, you're a pilot, then?" Valery asked with a gentle smile. "New Cov is definitely not the safest place to travel to. It's not in Alliance space, so there's less protection out here." That thought actually made her frown, and looking at him and the way she walked, she even felt a little frustrated.

"They should have given you an escort. Pirates are not uncommon here." It didn't really change anything now to bring it up, but if he were to ever accept another job out here, he really should ask for protection.

"We should be getting close to the Temple as well. Ever seen it before?" she asked, unsure if he had maybe spotted it on trips in the past.

The walking only got worse as they went on.

Not daring to stop until they reached the temple she had mentioned. He wasn't going to fall over out in the jungles of New Cov. Had heard too many rumors about jungles and the things that lived there during his layovers for starship maintenance to give the idea of sitting down for a break a second.

Her question back to him getting a grin as he adjusted his cap.

"Fair decent one at that. Well. Outside of. Pirate attacks." He huffed, seeing her concern plain with the look back at him.

His head swam briefly at the pause to meet her gaze.

Hand grabbing for something to hold himself upright. Failing and taking a knee while his body fought to rest against the drive of his will. He'd been in worse. Okay. Not this bad. Nowhere near this bad. The worst yet had been that stupid incident with the Reactor on another ship going critical. Hadn't been smart to nose up to it and act like an escape pod when the other freighter was hauling mining gear.

But he wasn't going to sit and watch someone get spaced while he was safe. And he wasn't going to let a few good bumps keep him from walking into that temple. Rising once more he finally spoke.

"Charter offered but was gonna be at a reduced price, but," The pain beginning to bloom in his hip as they saw the beginnings of a building between the trees. "Galaxy wouldn't have let me meet you. So."

A short lived laugh that ended with a sharp hissing wince. He still smiled through the pain.

"Worth the trouble to me."

"I'm sure you would have gotten them if your ship had been able to," Valery said with a smirk, hoping to encourage him a little and keep the spirits high. Sure, he was seriously injured and they were in arguably the deadliest Jungle in the Galaxy, but the worst was behind him now. All he needed to do was stay close — he had the perfect guide and protector to navigate through this planet, and the Temple wasn't too far away anymore.

He'd make it-

Valery blinked when he wobbled and went down to a knee, and even though he pushed himself up to his own feet, she was right there with him and forced him to lean on her. Right now, she didn't care if that hurt his pride — she wasn't going to let him collapse and die out here.

"Well, I'm glad meeting me was worth this pain," Valery said with a warm smile and a chuckle of her own. If she didn't know better, she'd think he was flirting with her. Or maybe he was? She blinked and just decided to keep pushing forward. "But next time, you really don't need to nearly die for it, alright?" She smirked and turned her fiery gaze forward, as the last ascend up towards the Temple revealed the ancient structure.

<Need some medical assistance at the Temple,> Valery spoke through her comms, and it didn't take long for a few medical droids to come rushing out after that.

"I'm going to hand you over to them for now. You'll likely be taking a nap in the Bacta tank, so I'll visit you once you're awake, alright?"

"Got a few of them when they boarded the ship. Stole supplies. But," He grinned at the memory of their surprise when he'd started fighting back. "They'll only be holding onto them until I find 'em."

He didn't argue or even scorn being helped. A breathless thanks as she made him lean against her. A shake of his head about the circumstances.

"Ah. Well. Not dead yet. So still worth the trouble. But I'll. I'll keep it to less danger next time." The last few words laughed as they ascended upward. Her brief use of comms bringing droids out of the structure.

A stretcher carrying him inside and to a place that always seemed to bring questions more than anything.

A weak sigh coming from him as the IV was poked into his skin. A sharp sound of pain as the droid titled it's head at the amount of pressure it needed.

"You'll have to cut with better stuff. Skins. Skins a bit thicker than most." He let out a pained laugh, as the pain in his hip bloomed into his lower back and legs.

"Confirmed. Your biological makeup is. Unique."

"Aye. Got me out. Out of. A few-" The anesthesia kicked in finally as the droids began their work. Several pieces of shrapnel from the explosion removed. Bacta applied and sealing bandages placed over the smaller wounds for quicker work.

The lights inside the room glaringly bright as his whole body glimmered.

Rainbows thrown across the droid bodies as they moved and finally put him to rest inside a bacta tank. Mask firmly secured before he was removed and given clothes. Waking long enough to request his hat. Feeling his hair and watching the dye in it spread across his hand. A deep frown emerging as he put his head beneath the sink and washed the rest of it free.

The iridescent colors shifting in the light as he toweled off and informed the droids he'd like to walk around.

"Your skin is quite resilient. You are cleared for visits and walking about." The momentary exam finding the wounds mostly healed over already, and fresh bandages applied.

"Told you. I think. How quick-ah, never mind. You know where Valery is?" Throwing the towel back to its spot.

"She's right here," Valery said, having entered at what seemed to be the right time. He had gotten through the Bacta tank, been given some new clothes, and he was even up on his feet. That did earn him some squinting eyes, only because most people wouldn't be allowed to just get out like this. But with a gentle nod from the medical droid to reassure her, she decided against kicking him back into a medical bed.

For now.

"How are you holding up? Not dizzy anymore?" She asked before looking him up and down, as if that'd help her figure out how he was feeling. He seemed steady, at least, and what she felt through the Force seemed okay. He also wasn't bleeding out anymore, so all-in-all, he seemed to have made an improvement.

The real problem now was the loss of his ship, his cargo and who knows what else he had to leave behind. She could imagine that a Captain wouldn't be too happy losing all of that.

"Why don't you walk with me? Maybe we can get you something to eat and drink, and I can help you figure out where to go from here." She smiled a little at the offer, and stepped aside so he could join her if he liked.

He twisted as she entered, wide eyed and glancing back to the towel before throwing a smile her way.

"Here she be indeed." He chuckled, sing-song tone until he noticed her narrowed eyes. Hands balled and settled into the sides of his hips as he grinned. The droid seeming to ease the intensity before he could muster any words.

Instead letting a brow arch at her question.

"Hard telling standing still. Everything seems," A slow bend at the knees before pushing back up with his elbows and twisting to stretch his back. "To be in working order at least."

The proposition of a walk earned a solid nod.

"I could eat something. Never liked bacta tanks. Always feels like I woke up from a really bad nap." Shaking his head to walk with her. Easy strides to take measure of how he felt walking. The topic of where to go from here not far from his mind.

"Well. Moving isn't horrible anymore but," Giving a thumbs up before continuing. "I'll know better when I get to doing something a bit more active. I wouldn't figure a temple to have a workout room though, so that might be a bit."

A shrugging smirk before his thoughts settled elsewhere.

"As for where to go. Honestly. I just need to hitch a ride back to Coruscant." A frown painting his features as the resignation settled in. Fething pirates. The amount of paperwork he'd have to file on top of trying to find a replacement for those spare boots was going to be migraine worthy.

"Get a message to the head office for an accurate list of goods. And-ah chit." A line cutting across his forehead at a realization.

"Have to get them coordinates for the wreck. That'll be a few creds from my check... Actually." Visibly weighing his options as his eyes narrowed, head tilting a little as ideas came and went before they opened a bit wider in a hopeful glance at her. "I think a pirate attack counts as unexpected life-threatening conditions for insurance."

"You do look a little... rigid," Valery said as she looked him up and down, and watched him test his joints a little. Bacta Tanks had the same effect on her, so she knew where it was coming from. Though as he mentioned getting active, she had a fun idea. He wasn't a Jedi, but maybe he was still interested in training a little?

"I'm sure the ship and cargo situation will be figured out, and I doubt they'll mind you taking some time to recover, hm?" She asked with a warm smile, but also a dangerous little sparkle burned in her eyes. The kind she always had before offering an idea that excited her a lot.

"What kind of workouts do you usually do?" She asked. "Jedi train the mind and body, so we have everything you'd need to get a workout in," she explained. "We can train here with weights, do some cardio around the mountains, or even spar and do some serious combat training at the Dragon's Den - our training arena."

She doubted he was a combatant who would want to spar her with a blade, but maybe some hand-to-hand combat? Otherwise, they could always spot each other for some weightlifting too.

"What do you think? Up for it after we eat?"

He felt stiff.

It wasn't quite the ache of a long days work. That one always vanished with a lounge on a familiar recliner after a well earned drink. This. This was miserable.

"Better than being laid up in the tank." Begrudgingly admitting as he examined his skin. A frown cutting across his face once more as he eyed the lights. Turning his attention back at the mention of time off.

"Probably could use some of that time off I've got stored up. Let some of the greenhorns take my routes." The idea at first spoken as if he'd chewed on something bitter. Two seconds worth of thought however ending in a pleased nod as she went on.

The bland stare ahead changing quickly to a confused squint at her.

"I... well. Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense." Thoughtfulness plain as he glanced around once more.

"I hear temple and think of worship. Not so much. Training. Granted this only the-" His brow furrowed and chin dipped down, digging to remember. Giving up with a shrug. "Second, time I've been somewhere, uh. Jedi. Owned."

Shifting along quickly to keep from wondering about Jedi and property rights.

"Oh! A little bit of hand to hand stuff. Instructor and I have been off sync for schedule though so a bit rusty without a partner to practice. Otherwise all that sounds great!" The easy tone only broken by the rolling of his shoulders to get that stiffness out of his back. A gratifying pop coming from his back with a pleased sigh from him.

Grin appearing once more as he turned to her.

"Probably ought to snack more than eat then. Ah, but dinner is always lovely after a good workout. Specially with company." Grin shifting into a proper smile.

"Oh? Where were you before?" Maybe he had made a delivery to the Coruscant Temple? Or some other place with Jedi history? Either way, Valery was quite curious now. It wasn't every day that a delivery guy was this interesting and, well, he wasn't too bad on the eyes either. Not that she'd tell him that, of course.

She wasn't that easy.

Valery smiled warmly in return as he talked a little more about his training, and a little sparkle ignited in her eyes, "We'll do some hand-to-hand training, then. I think I'll be an interesting sparring partner for you." She wasn't as tall or broad, so she definitely wasn't in his weight class. But the Force made up for that and more, so her strength, speed and every part of her physicality would be quite surprising.

It'd make the spar a lot more fun for both of them, she imagined.

"After that, we'll have something to eat. A proper dinner," Valery said with a grin, before she turned around and guided him out of the room. At the far end of the Temple was the Dragon's Den — a training ring of stone with large pillars around its perimeter. Not the easiest surface if you were to fall, but it'd be good enough for them.

"Need to warm up a little first?"

"Coruscant. Had to deliver a crate for the uh. Oh. The," A word escaping him as he held his hands forward like he had a sword, intense thinking happening as the word seemed to evade him. "Light... blade. Saber. Lightsaber. Lightsaber materials."

It finally fell into place as he laughed, dropping his hands.

"It's usually done by the students I was told but the stuff I delivered was apparently special ordered. Had to sign off on it after it had been counted and weighed." He hadn't seen anyone swinging around a lightsaber while he'd been there, and built the assumption they went elsewhere for such training.

Then again, the delivery halls weren't exactly next to the training halls it would seem. Attention flicking over her to with a confident grin.

"Always interesting to see what someone else knows. Helps you know someone too." Rolling his shoulders once more as he gave her a quick up and down measure. Eyes narrowing looking at her arms.

"I feel like your gonna lay me flat if I'm not paying attention." The humor behind his words never dimming at the idea. The mention of a proper dinner after getting a thumbs up as she guided him into a much larger room.

An impressed whistle coming from him as he took in the sight with a slow turn. Pausing long enough to nod.

"Ought to. Still feels like I'm walking wrapped in packing foam." He sighed. Taking a minute to properly stretch and do his best to loosen joints and muscles. A few pleased sighs as his elbows popped while rolling his arms.

A few final kicks of his legs as he entered what he guessed was the training ring.

"Alrighty. Let's get to it." Taking a defensive stance as he watched her, arms close with his elbows guarding his ribs. Legs set apart as wide as his shoulders but firmly planted.

His delivery to the Temple was definitely peculiar, and the way she looked at him showed her curiosity. Perhaps there was more to that story he wasn't sharing just yet, but she didn't want to press on it too much. The idea of having a round of training with him was a little more exciting for the rather adventurous Jedi Master.

From there, being able to help him would be wonderful.

Soon enough, the two reached the training room, and much like him, Valery spent just a moment to stretch and get herself warm for a spar. Not that she needed to after all the physical stress of getting him out of that wreck, but it never hurt to be cautious. "Well, I won't freely use the Force to make this uninteresting," Valery said when his eyes shifted to her arms. She was strong and her body showed it, but her real strength was the Force.

She could bend him in half with her mind if she wanted to, but that wouldn't be fun.

"Giving me the first move, hm?" She grinned as he readied himself and started advancing. "Very well." Without wasting a second, she threw a jab at him to test his defenses, and followed up with a far stronger cross from her right fist. She then withdrew, and danced around him a little like a boxer.

She could mix things up with kicks or even with grappling if need be, but she wanted to start simple and see what this pilot could do himself.
