THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE
THE BOTOR CAMPAIGN

Army_3.png

For generations the Botor Enclave, the Daupherm Planet States [DPS], and the Dawferim Selfhood States[DSS] have been at each other’s throats, only kept at bay by the powers of the Old Republic and Old Alliance. Since Operation: Endgame and the fall of the Old Alliance however, the three sectors have been allowed to operate as they pleased with the DPS and DSS having forged a strong alliance. The war-like people of the Botor Enclave, with deep roots in piracy and raiding, have declared their neighbors as thieves and true enemies of the Botor Enclave. By contrast, through their far superior economic power and modern technologies, the Daupherm Planet States and Dawferim Selfhood States have been slowly encroaching on the Botor Sector through the purchase of planetary deeds from greedy local Botori pirate lords. These colonization efforts have gone on, despite the occasional raid and constant harassment by the less advanced Botoir Privateer Fleets.

Eight standard weeks ago

The situation between Botor Enclave and the Daupherm Planet States has boiled over into full-scale war. After the Botor Sector’s Privateer Fleets clashed with the Daupherm Sector merchant fleet ended in the death of Prime Minister Trin Margos, the leader of the Daupherm Assembly and de jure leader of the Daupherm Planet States.

With their superior economy and technology, the DPS and DSS have put Botor on the back foot, with a large fleet of mercenary and defense force vessels pushing back every assault and occupying large swaths of what was once Botor Sector space. With no one left to turn to the Botor Enclave has turned to the nascent Galactic Alliance for aid in the mediation of a formal surrender. Due to the discovery of several rare, gas laden, uninhabited worlds deep within the nebula that contained the Botor Sector, Corellian Senator Kaito Kiyoshi brought the plight of the low-tech Botor Sector to the Senate. In an impassioned speech, he convinced the Alliance Senate to send a peace mission with Jedi Master Stria to the contentious sector of space.

During the meeting, one of the mercenary vessels protecting the DPS and DSS delegation fired on the Alliance vessel carrying Jedi Master Stria, Alliance representative, and one of the chief pirate warlords of the Botori Privateer Fleet. In response, the Alliance deployed two Redeemer-Class battlecruisers and accompanying vessels. Dubbed the Botori Campaign, the fleet was tasked with securing all three sectors and putting a quick and decisive end to the war in order to bring stability to the region. The DPS and DSS forces have been collectively dubbed “The Coalition”. But like most plans, nothing went the way it was supposed to.

Nine Standard Weeks Into the Botori Campaign

The fighting has been fierce with a staggering amount of Alliance casualties. The wealthy alliance between the Coalition has brought a plethora of privateers, pirates, and other soldiers of fortune into the fray. The pirate tactics of the Botori Privateer Fleet have also left Alliance naval officers at a loss. These unpredictable circumstances have scattered the fleet, leaving captains alone in systems successfully claimed by the Alliance open to hit and run tactics. The fighting has also finally reached Botor and Alliance Commando teams have been deployed to capture the enemy commander. The Jedi Order has taken an interest in the situation as well. After the devastating loss of one of their Masters, they still search for a peaceful solution but many have taken to fighting against the Coalition alongside the Alliance Navy.

wsL0bBY.png

Objectives:

Clouded Visions: The privateers of the Coalition have been using the dense nebulas near the Daupherm Sector to operate sneak attacks on GA supply lines attempting to bring aid to the front lines. Military intelligence believes there is a space station located somewhere on the edge of the nebula where the Coalition Forces are operating from. Seek and Destroy.

A Disturbance in the Force: After Jedi Master Stria was killed the Jedi Order leaped into action. Though many Jedi Knights have taken up the sword alongside the GA military, a shadowy disturbance has been felt by Jedi Shadows. A few Judicials also feel that something just ain’t right...Discover the sinister forces pulling the strings behind this war…

Battle of Botor: The fighting is fiercest on Botor. The Coalition’s ground forces have taken the capital and fortified the city. Supplies have been limited for some time now. An all-out assault is the only option left. CHARGE!!!

BYOO: The Botori Campaign has been going on for nine weeks. Much longer than anyone first anticipated and the GA’s part in the Sith-Imperial Civil War has put a strain on resources. Report on the stories happening live, discuss with your fellow senators on the merits of the war, speak with your superiors about the GA’s prospects. Anything you want!

Clouded Visions

Ymlerith's milk-pale face scrunched together beneath the expressionless helmet, squatted over the space station's hull with the platoon of Marshals sitting in the cool coil of the small stealthy Navy frigate's attached umbilical poised to breach the pirates' well-concealed space station his magnetised boots clamped tightly against the boltgun grey surface. Ymlerith's aquamarine eyes looked towards his platoon commander, a formidable woman with a reputation for obstinacy but well-intentioned named "Arthes" Ymlerith enjoyed witnessing officers lead from the front it made him feel more confident and safe to know his superiors were willing to put themselves beside him.

"All squads standby to breach." Lifftenant's deep intonation sounded into Ymlerith's helmet and he anxiously braces his photon particle accelerator weapon tighter into his breastplate. "Breach." And so A Marshal began manipulating the hull keypad with a circuit interface held in gloved hands before Ymlerith watched Arthes plant her boot firmly into the sliding panels sending them inwards clearing a path for the several squads which they flooded into eagerly. Their squad blew through a pair of bulkhead doors leading into an atrium with terminals and prepared defenses, red blaster bolts whistle into and around the attacking Marshals. Ymlerith's armor lets out a pulse of brilliant scintillating light across its' surface; his photon shield interdicting those projectiles.

Dived against a Durasteel barricade with a loud painful thud Ymlerith glanced up and caught a glimpse of Arthes standing and sending a barrage of rifle fire towards the diverse alien defenders before her own protective bubble teetered on failure. Sliding down behind the Durasteel barricade Arthes turns her head towards the prone and frightened Ymlerith and with a snarl that couldn't be seen but heard on her voice through the vocalizer.
"Marshal! Are you fighting or not!?" Ymlerith felt his Sergeant's cold and cruel hand clasp the back of his cuirass.

"Ymlerith!" He began with a deep guttural growl. "Take your accelerator onto the left-flank onto that elevated dais and kill their heavy gunner. Move it Marshal!" Before the young Ymlerith could even dare begin to muster a response the nigh eight foot tall monstrous Sergeant threw the diminutive Ymlerith along the rubber-covered floor with a decidedly comical slide into the open. "Run, you moron!" The Sergeant screamed with such ferocity that Ymlerith felt his stomach quiver unpleasantly, propelled from cover and his predilection for cowardice carrying the repeating accelerator bolts whizzed immediately above his head.

Meanwhile aboard the Frigate that disgorged those Marshals, Captain Nyeron was busily attempting to contact the confederation known as the "Galactic Alliance" though subspace but was alerted by a crewman something aboard the station was jamming their long range transmissions. Nyeron steeples his long fingers upon his command throne in silent thought.
"I do not want those Vatt'ghern mistaking the Marshals for pirates, keep an eye on the sensorium equipment and any Alliance contacts identified at short range. I want to know if they enter our liquidation operation and would coordinate with them in the excise of these cursed animals."
Privateers Nyeron near physically chokes on the thought, that idea pirates or mercenaries received the commission of a government is utterly revolting to the proud commissioned officer. In his mind they were delinquent rats fit only for extermination.

This was the beginning of the administration of Ellylon justice; swift and ruthless in its' prosecution.

_________________________________________________________________________

The bridge of the Hawk was silent. It was silent often enough, in the wee hours or when the bridge crew had run out of conversation topics on patrol, but this was different. It was eerie, filled with dread. Most of the crew had never seen combat before. Of course, Neither had their captain, who stood in the center of the bridge with a clenched jaw and distant glare. Constantine had participated in simulations, of course, and he had performed admirably on each one. But even for him, the pre-battle anxiety was strong.

The Hawk was hunting. Them and several other Warrior-II Corvettes had been deployed to find and destroy a pirate base that had been harassing the GA's supply lines. The threatened supply convoys had to be guarded especially well to prevent their capture or destruction. The ships being used for it and the supplies being lost were needed at the front, from what Constantine had heard. A victory here could turn the campaign. But to destroy an enemy, one had to find that enemy.

For the Hawk and her sister ships, this was proving difficult. The ships were more than well armed, and each one was likely fully capable of defeating a pirate vessel. The nebula was wreaking havoc on the sensors though. Relying on view ports to find the base was likely just as effective as the sensors were in this nebula. This was going to be a long mission, no matter how quickly the pirates could be found.

For the last nine weeks the Daupherm Planet States and Dawferim Selfhood States had proven that, with enough credits to throw at a cause, even the smallest threats could grow to pack a punch. With the Alliance's Defense Force focusing the bulk of its assets to the raging Sith-Imperial front and the desperate quarantine of the Brentaal system, the Botori Coalition had managed to rally a sizeable group of mercenaries and undesirables to their ruthless cause.

Din had been deployed to the planet in the 5th week of fighting. He and two other commando teams had been attached to a reinforcing company of the Defense Force's marines. As a commando, this news had surprised him. It wasn't common for them to be deployed alongside the infantry on the frontlines to fight, but with the privateers and mercenary forces of the Coalition ramping up their ruthless conquest, pillaging the cities and stations of the Enclave as they worked to claim them, Command had deemed it necessary.

<"So, we need to breach this defensive perimeter,"> Din's modulated voice projects from his helmet as he points to a highlighted section of a holo-map. The commando, his fire team, and a group of Alliance and Botori personnel are gathered around a projected in the fortified command tent of the forward operations base.

The highlighted region outlines three parallel trenches, each with various markers to distinguish confirmed and suspected locations of enemy weapons emplacements.
<"If our intel is right, they should only have one more of those damned A.A. emplacements in this area."> For the last two weeks, their ground teams had been hunting down the heavy anti-air batteries in the area with the hope of clearing a narrow airway to the city. So far, the weapons had stopped all attempts to gain air superiority, and they'd forced the Alliance and Enclave to ship their troops to by transport speeders from a main base a few kilometers away from the line.

Dare flicks his wrist, scrolling the map passed the trenches to a red circle on an elevated position, well behind the Coalition's line.
<"If we can punch through this perimeter and take this damned thing out, we should have a small window to funnel some of our dropships and starfighters behind their line and into the city. This could be our best shot to make some serious progress.">

The commando terminates the projection and plucks the small orb from the table it had been resting on, attaching it to his belt. <"We're going to have to move fast and hard. No hesitating. If they realize that this gun going down will leave even a crack in their anti-air coverage, they'll mobilize quick to counter.">

He pulls up his viperwasp and toggles the power cell by thumbing a switch on the grip, <"Place as been bombed to hell, so we don't have much cover out there, so we need to make sure we're covering eachother's advances as best as we can until we hit the trenches.">

as master jin leans forward to listen to the Galactic alliance commando Din, and advise to him, "captain, the way I see this is that we are to move fast and hard to the enemy lines to bring down the AA."

Thinks of an idea, "captain, how about this, we launch a sneak attack with a team of marines and commandos at the cover of fog or night to attack one of the enemy's position then another team will try to destroy the weapons and that will signal the fleet to attack head on, I will leading some the starfighter groups to help with the assult on the enemy."

Objective: Battle of Botor

Having been deployed as part of the scouting force, Corala had expected to be pulled out once the special forces began to show up. Instead she had been given another set of orders; keeping an eye on the troops. She had thought it strange at first, but she assumed that someone in the chain of command was concerned about traitors in the ranks. Seeing as how there was no getting out of this, she was joining up with a team of Commandos, guiding them through the holes she had noticed in the Coalitions defense.

They had reached a point of no return now. The battlefield before them was laid bare, bombardment had done it's job, but they left the group without much cover. Her cybernetics whirled about, rotating through several optics, trying to find a possible route that maybe she had missed, but it was nothing worth risking the men's lives over. Scowling, she held her rifle close and moved back to the squad leader, who seemed to be in the middle of his briefing. His words echoed what she was thinking, and behind the clear visor helmet she wore, a wary expression remained. "I gave it a once over, but there's no cover. We are going to lose men. We will need optimised teamwork to pull through." She added, looking to the commandos, and felt a bit of judgement being cast upon her. The Intelligence insignia on her armor might as well said 'outsider', because to them that's exactly what she was. Biting her tongue, her right eye switched to it's 'normal' function, glowing a dim blue that was sort but not quite matched with her normal left eye. She would await the order to move on, the sooner this operation was underway the better in her mind.

Her brow furrowed in frustration, as her eyes danced across the hololithic tactical display. She devoured the information it presented and felt her choler rise. Her vessel was alone amongst the bespeckled void - as her support ships were forced to peel off and engage targets elsewhere in the system.

That was okay, she thought to herself at first. The enemy was nothing more than a ragtag collection of Privateer vessels. They would fall apart under a sustained engagement, and when their lead ship was destroyed, they’d scatter across the solar tides - as their morale would be broken. However, what made the dear Captain angry was that her sole Heavy Cruiser was facing off against nearly a dozen warships - ranging from Corvettes to Bulk Cruisers - and none of them openly bore the Coalition’s flag. Jianna Saren had her work cut out for her now.

As the information on the screen winked out of existence, the Hapan-hybrid moved away from the tactical display. She gracefully walked towards the centre of the warship’s command deck, before wrapping her fingers around a dividing banister. “Helm,” Jianna spoke, giving voice to the authority ingrained into her upbringing and the position she now held. “Accelerate to Combat Speed, and run out the Lateral thrusters. I want us to get into the thick of their formation and ready - just in case they have magnetic accelerators.”

“Aye, ma’am!” the Helmsman responded, before carrying out her orders.

“Gunnery Control,” Jianna said, as her eyes turned towards the various personnel situated at the fringes of the Cruisers’ Command Deck. “Prime weapons and get me targeting solutions for their lead vessels. I don’t know if those eager pups carry this group’s flag, but taking down their vanguard might force their morale to waiver.”

“Aye, ma’am!”
“Acquiring firing solutions now.”
“Torpedo trajectory calculated and ready to fire on your Order, Captain.”

The personnel that were stationed at the fringe terminals were eager and experienced. Jianna liked that. It meant that her commands would be followed to the letter, so long as it brought them victory. They believed - mostly because of her last name, more than anything else - with a Saren at the ‘helm’ - defeat wasn’t in the cards. They believed that a legend stood amongst their number. Thus, in reflecting that fact - the Crew sought to throw themselves into their duties with all the gusto they could muster.

They wanted to impress their new Commanding Officer.

Jianna smiled, trying to hide the doubts that festered in her eyes.

“Alright, then. Let’s get to work.”

From one battlefield to another, the forces of the Galactic Alliance found no reprieve after the events of Muunilist. Ryv Karis, Sword of the Jedi, was one of many recently returned from the front, only to find themselves redeployed to Botor. Arriving a few weeks later than most due to the injuries sustained at the hands of both Lord Venari Lord Venari and Vallaro Kindall Vallaro Kindall , the Jedi Knight spent several playing catchup along the front lines. While the fortifications and defenders lacked the resources or might of the Sith Empire, Ryv wasn't surprised the Galactic Alliance's forces couldn't outright crack the outlying defenses and push deeper into the city. Between innocents held hostage, concerns of destroying the very city they aimed to liberate, and the natural advantages held by defenders, the Jedi almost wished they'd of convinced Irveric Tavlar Irveric Tavlar to lead in the offensive. Perhaps one of the greatest, if not the greatest, military minds of the modern age, the veteran commander would've brought an air of expertise the offending forces needed.

Ryv remained silent and listened to the commando, Din, as he provided much-needed intel to the forces on hand. While precarious, the situation was far from impossible. He eyed the projection and stepped forward, carefully pushing through the collected soldiers before breaking through the crowd. He offered Din a nod, awaiting his approval before taking a position beside the commando.

"It looked to me like the push to the anti-air gun is gonna make our life a living hell. No cover translates roughly to a death march, which means we're gonna approach this using a time-honored and field-tested strategy from the Jedi of old," Ryv fished out a holodevice from his jacket pocket and activated with a flick of his thumb. The device showcased an unnamed Jedi Knight at the head of a squadron of clone troopers, dating back to before the Great Jedi Purge. "If we don't have cover, we'll make the cover for you all," he motioned to Maynard, standing close to Ryv's original position. "We can split up into teams, Maynard at the head of one squadron, myself at the head of another. It'll be impossible to cover you all, but it'll be a lot better than running at this with nothing else, I'd say," he tugged the Blade of Ruusan from his belt, spinning the hilt within his palm several times. "I'll put out a call and see if we've got any other Jedi on standby. If so, we'll break down to smaller units and keep things tight."

Taking a step back, Ryv eyed the gathered soldiers, eventually settling his attention on Maynard. Ryv wasn't worried in the slightest about his companion, given the plethora of experience they've both gained over recent years. With everything they've overcome, the Jedi Knight stood firm in his beliefs shared with Allyson in regards to the Concordian pilot. Maynard Treicolt was fated to rise as more than a Jedi of the New Jedi Order, but a leader of men and a general likened to the great Anakin Skywalker. And Ryv would rather die on the field than watch his best friend's potential not be reached.

Admiral Zahara Myneto stood on the bridge of the ANS "Vibrant", constantly monitoring the unfolding situation. As the Strident Class Star Defender exited hyperspace, slicing into real space like a sleek, gray tool he couldn't help but notice how many ships there were, and what he was told.

According to his intelligence enough warships had been deployed to combat the privateers without overextending resources and yet what he saw was the exact opposite. Two ships against a dozen? Someone would be hearing about this after he was finish.

"Launch fighters. Prep weapons and calculate firing solutions. Tell the wing commander to prepare to be outnumbered... Just in case" he was calmer than usual which was a good start. He wasn't barking orders and he wasn't trying to micro-manage, no he was already going gray because of that.

When he was a child Lanik remembered hearing tales of Coruscant and the Republic it once held. A government that was fair to their citizens, that truly cared for the wellbeing of others. That worked alongside the Jedi for a better tomorrow. All that laid bare, and shattered as he stood before the Senate building.

Rain fell from the heavens above, a thick barrage of heavy drops that slammed onto the Jedi. A veil in the darkness. The skies above grew dark, lightning crackling through it. The bright blue flashes illuminating the figure that was Lanik Dawnstar. Once a hero of the Republic. There was no armor this time, just black robes. Snow white hair lay matted against the Jedi’s head and face. Eyes the color of the ocean stared through the darkness to the Senatorial offices. The Jedi had forgone war in the search for answers. A long journey that revealed things about the government he loved. The one he fought for.

At his back was his apprentice Shimrra Rin. How much she’d grown in the past year, at times her own abilities and prowess in the force seeming to dwarf Lanik’s. If it hadn’t been for her the exhausted Jedi knight perhaps would’ve been overwhelmed when assassins had befallen him.

Sleep had evaded the knight for weeks at this point. Exhaustion clawed at the edges of Lanik’s mind. Meditations and the force were the only things that kept the man on his feet. All he could see now, all he could focus on was a single individual. A singularity in not only the force but in the Galactic Alliance. Kaito, the one who stood a chance of ruining everything not only Lanik but so many others had strived for.

Live or die a change would be made. Live or die, the balance would be corrected. Over the past four months, Lanik had kept a journal of his adventures. Of his investigation into what truly happened at Kuat, what tragedy had befallen the Desert dawn. All evidence led directly to Senator Kiyoshi, a member of the Senate that Lanik thought he could trust. That he’d once believed to be a pillar. To ensure that at least some of the evidence could be found Lanik sent a copy of his journal to Fable Solborne, and the original hidden away where not even Shimrra would find it after his death.

Inhaling one last time, Lanik centered himself. His presence itself a beacon in the force, radiating outwards. This was a Jedi’s duty. To be the change they wished to see, and when corruption sought to destroy civilization to strike it away. Would he perhaps be villanized for his actions? Perhaps. Would he ruin his reputation in the name of seeking justice? Without question. Would any of these factors change what was to come? Not a chance in hell.

“Shimrra, this is not your fight. I beg of you to turn back. Whatever happens, up there... I do not want you in harm’s way.”

We're going to have to move fast and hard. No hesitating.

Barely audible above the rest of the debrief, Gala murmured a distracted - "That's what she said."

Five weeks in only gave them an advantage by being less tired than those they were being sent in to reinforce. The fortification of the remarkably organized pirates didn't make their jobs any easier. Which, ultimately, was for the best in Gala's mind. It would be incredibly boring to be on chaperone duty again after the disaster that was Caamas.

The briefing was interrupted not by her crass commentary, but by -- what a surprise -- a space wizard. The emerald-skinned bladeswoman did little to conceal her eye roll. It was the same kid she'd pulled out from a hiding place aboard Sachen II. He'd bulked up since then. And he'd made a friend. Within a few moments, it was suggested that all the soldiers who'd been trained for this, the plebs, be assigned under the guidance of the Force-wielding overlords.

She wasn't getting paid enough for the patience this was starting to demand.

And they wanted more Jedi? No thanks.

"Cover. Trenches. A.A. Got it. We got it?" Her head bobbed along, capturing the mirrored movement from a collection of the other armour-wearing soldiers. They seemed to understand the briefing, and itching fingers along their viperwasps suggested an antsy energy that needed to be put to use and redirected to the battlefield they were promised. Murmurs of yeah, got it...makes sense were audible, even if they were mousey.

All in all, pretty unimpressive.

"We got it. Let's go."

The situation in the Botor System had officially gone tits up. An already dubious scenario, one might argue things began to flounder about the time Master Stria was assassinated, but Adhira was nothing if not an optimist. That was something Adhira liked to say at parties to get a laugh. With the Senate finally in agreement about just how horribly things had gone, she found herself reluctantly on course to make a stab at brokering peace. Thrilling stuff.
The doors to the Evenstar's command deck hissed open and the Senator, flanked by a perpetually angry-looking Alliance Marine and a bureaucrat stepped forward. Typically adorned in flowing vibrantly colored fabric, precious metals, and jewels when conducting official business - on the ground - Adhira opted for a much more practical, tight-fitting maroon bodysuit with a high collared black cloak. A simple silver circlet enclosed the intricate bun on her head, giving her an air of nobility.
"SENATOR ON DECK!"
Adhira paused as the crew jumped to their feet with a rather thunderous stomp. "Eh- At ease..." her hesitation went unnoticed as the crew members returned to their business. An important-looking man in uniform with a distinctly pointy nose gave her a stiff salute before extending his hand in greeting, identifying himself as the captain. "How far out are we, Captain?" Adhira looked past him out the large viewing window beyond and could make out what appeared to be the Botor System's star.
"We are on our final approach Senator, would you like to establish communication with Fleet Command?"
Before she could answer, the voices of the deck crew were temporarily deafened by the sound of some sort of proximity alert. There was a surge of tension in the air as she attempted to make sense of the shouting between the captain and the marines fumbling with their control panels. Adhira was able to retain one crucial detail from the chaotic exchange: pirates.
"Attention! This is the Galactic Alliance Evenstar, divert course immediately or prepare to be fired upon!"
The marine escorting Adhira attempted to pull her back into the elevator but she stood her ground. She could see on some of the screens nearby that several ships were on course to the convoy. The corvette was being escorted by a full squadron, something that would likely spook any run-of-the-mill thugs. The ships did not divert, though, they didn't even respond before she sent falling forward from the jolt.
"Torpedoes away!"
She watched as a cascade of burning light fired off on course before reluctantly retreating to the lower deck, now joined by several marines. As they descended, she felt the ship rock again and the lights flickered before going completely dark. There were several large crashes - the sound of boarding ships slamming into the side of the Evenstar. Five marines ushered her into cargo bay and aimed their weapons at the one exit she could see. None of her staff were with her. After a moment of uncertainty, the door to the cargo bay exploded and the lights failed. When the lasers stopped firing it was just her and a single unarmed marine facing down her captors. One stepped forward...

The last year had been tumultuous to say the least. Galavanting around the Core Worlds with her new master as the very same worlds they were visiting were changed around them by policy and ambition. It was a good sign of things to come, she had thought before. But a year of digging through the underbelly of capital ship scrapyards and crashing the nightclubs of Corellia she had begun to wonder if this sudden shift was really the way forward. It was obvious that Kuat had been foul play and if Lannick was correct the recent war in the Botor Sector was of similar make...Though, that, the pair had yet to prove, though not for lack of trying.

She looked up at her master, standing closely behind him. This man was a shining light in the Force, a man of solid conviction and unquestionably loyalty, but what she'd seen him do over the last year was unsettling and the obsession he'd had for this case even more so. This wasn't a mission from the Council or even a favor for a friend. This had started simply because he had felt something sinister at play. What had been a hobby became a feverish chase that had led the Jedi Knight to break the minds of two men using techniques she knew to be Dark in nature. But her trust in him was absolute. So as they stood before the Senate building on Coruscant in the rain, two hooded figures in the dark, she knew she had to be there. Be there in case he flew too close to the Darkness for the sake of justice.

"No, Master,"
she said softly, "We will see this through with you." What could he be expecting? She knew there were some things about the investigation that he was keeping from her. Plausible deniability and all. But as far as she knew the man they were facing, while powerful, was no threat to two Jedi. Still, the Force was in flux and clouded to her. She felt a disturbance that she couldn't distinguish, like a haze had been dropped over the ecumenopolis.

"I will be at your back." There was a rustle in her robes as her Amphistaph stirred. It seemed it was not only her that felt restless. Despite sounding resolute, she held fear in her heart as a sudden sense of dread fell over her. She clutched her robes tightly and breathed, attempting to calm herself. Was this what cops felt like when they were on the tail of a big perp? She couldn't tell if it was excitement or something else she felt.

The campaign season was finally over. While it wasn't exactly a challenge election year, it still took time, energy, and effort. More importantly, she had to prove that she was still committed to the people of Kalist amidst all the glitz and glamor of Coruscant and galactic politics. She had exchanged the formal Senate robes and gowns for the more workaday dungarees and desert clothes as she made circuits around the world, speaking with the many moisture farmers trying to squeeze out a couple of liters of water a day from the air, just like her parents, who she had gone with to visit her brother's memorial.

When she returned to her office, her inbox was overflowing with messages from various senators, committee dispatches, and the many other responsibilities she held. One, however, caught her attention. It was a datapad, hastily enveloped and sent to her by Jedi Lanik Dawnstar Lanik Dawnstar .

Why had he sent her this? What was in it? She hadn't worked closely with any of the Jedi since the disaster on Alderaan. Fable pushed the rest of the documents away from her to make room and powered it up, beginning to read the first few entries. They were short and to the point. Yet each one sent a spike through her heart and she struggled to keep up with her breathing, especially upon reading the conclusion. It hadn't been the Imperium or some captain gone rogue. it had been deliberate sabotage from someone she trusted. and considered a friend.

The words were chilling and she slumped back in her chair, staring at the screen. She needed to do something. Yet the evidence here wasn't enough. Things were vague and lacking the officiality of a proper criminal investigation for treason. And understandable, this wasn't initially meant to be a criminal or treason investigation. But what this Jedi uncovered? She needed to speak with him.

She leaned forward and pressed the button on the comm.

"Yes, Senator?" Her aide asked from the front desk. "Can I get you anything for the night?"

"No, thank you, Val," Fable said, "But can you connect me to the New Jedi Order? I want to get into contact with one of the Jedi who sent me a parcel. A Lanik Dawnstar or his apprentice Shimrra Rin." She almost said something about the contents. "I just have questions about the material that I would like to clarify. Tell the Jedi it's urgent."

"Of course, Senator."

"Then go ahead and take the rest of the night off," Fable said after a moment. "All I'll be doing tonight is reading messages."

She collapsed back into her seat as worries raced around her and she massaged her temples, trying to think it through. What did she really know about Kaito? His past? His dealings? Nothing. Even their conversations had been vague and not overly specific. Or was that paranoia sinking in?

Fable stopped herself and took a long breath. Focus and clarity of thought would be her best resource now. Jedi were involved, albeit unofficially it seemed, which meant she would need more allies on her side to pursue a more formal investigation discreetly. Not her own, but a proper one. She needed the Marshals. This time, she commed directly, "Senator Fable Solborne. I need a high level Marshal who is discreet and capable of investigating corruption at the highest levels of government. Please send them immediately. I have information regarding the destruction of the Desert Dawn."

The commando's adrenaline starts to kick in as the Knight explains his plan, filling him with a sense of exhilaration. He'd never fought alongside the Jedi Order before, but he'd certainly heard the stories. From behind his visor, his shifts his focus between Ryv and Maynard, trying to decide which one he'd take the field with. He recognized both of them from the HoloNews coverage of the Unity Day ceremony; they'd both received Golden Starbird medallions, just like the X.O. of his usual commando squad.

Knowing that the latter held a proper rank in the Defense Force's navy, he toggles the diamond IFF marker around Maynard from the usual green that distinguished him as an ally to a light blue, identifying him as a member of their team. Two acknowledgement markers flash on Dare's HUD; a wordless confirmation from both Lark and Pop that they'd received the information and understood.

<"Master Jedi,"> Din speaks up, holding his rifle up to rest it against his shoulder, <"We'll join you to fill in some of the gaps. Me and the boys can take a few extra hits.">

Behind him, Pop mag-locks his scattergun to his back, offering an affirming nod to the two Jedi as he swipes his viperwasp that he'd leaned against the table back into his hands. Lark, who's armour appears to be more fortified than Pop and Dare's, hoists his reaper chainblaster up from the ground and rolls his shoulder with a simple <"Aye"> to back the sergeant's offer.

Stepping around the table to approach Maynard, Dare gives him a quick salute,
<"We're ready to move on your orders, Commander.">

The catastrophe at Kuat had ushered in a brief period of uncertainty in the Core. Military vessels from both the former Republic and the Grayson Imperium turned Alliance had unmistakably come to blows above the shipyards of the Core planet. Tensions had run high on Coruscant. Isaac remembered sitting in one of the judicial's frequented cantinas with two of his colleagues, idly nursing tea as their attention was drawn by the brief footage of the conflict taken by some civilian on the shipyard's ring before communications in the system were interrupted. Their conversation wasn't very wordy after they'd seen the holovids, weighed down by the anxiety of a potential war. He still remembered the silence that hung over the cantina that day. The Republic had been seen almost as a cousin by most folks he knew, seeing the GI and the Reps firing upon each other hadn't sat well with anyone. Lucky them it was an isolated incident.

Those memories replayed in his mind as he leaned against the turbo lift's back wall. The quiet whine of the turbo lift was almost as jarring as the soulless tunes trying their best to comfort him. Jensen had comm'd him at this late hour for a special investigation. Said he needed some marshals he could trust. Sent him along with Santelli to the senate building. Said it was a direct request from the senate, discreet, mentioned the Desert Dawn. The name had stuck with Isaac. It'd been the mirror piece to the Aeon, the Kuati frigate which served as the spark that set the skies above its home ablaze that day. According to all official reports, the destruction of the Desert Dawn had been direct retaliation by the Kuati for the sinking of the Aeon by Republic forces. One thing lead to another and soon enough a battle broke out, perhaps skirmish was a more fitting term, taking into account the after-action reporting. Either way, a lot of lives had been lost senselessly that day.

Remember the Aeon, he repeated the mantra of the war hounds who'd surfaced following the incident in his mind. There was a note of bitterness in the words. He shook his head.

The turbo lift doors opened to a wide corridor. The wall's light bronze metal had a subtle sheen to it that reflected the red wool carpet on its polished surface. It played into the flowers that lined each side in precisely spaced intervals, just far enough apart to not crowd the room but spaced close enough to add a solid line of purple along the path. The entire decorum left a strong impression of sparkling champagne and lavender on the deputy. It would've been quite pleasant if he was in any other line of work.

He sighed, pushing himself off the turbo lift wall. He looked towards the other marshal, a slightly arched eyebrow, an unspoken question.
What do you make of this?

Objective: Kidnap Adhira Chandra Adhira Chandra
Sotta's orders were clear. Get Chandra. Retreat to Safehouse. Sotta didn't care for how just that it had to get done and so Umedara managed to whip up a haphazard group of pirates to take on the Galactic Alliance convoy. Corvettes, freighters and a lot of personal starfighters strafed through the void. The pirates' objective was to distract and disorient the convoy, disable and only destroy when and if necessary. After all, they were here for one woman - not start a war, although - Umedara was aware of her task. She still did not feel the need to rush into reckless abandon and waste lives needlessly.
Pirates, disable, loot and run, destroy sensor and data logs if possible just to make it harder to trace the lot in the future. Umedara's own team consisted of a couple of mercs, and a force user to help clean things up. The boarding operation wasn't as clean as she would have liked them. Regrettably, a few brave souls met the void in the worst way possible that day. Still, her orders were quite clear - and as she thought on them, Umedara realized she could take Chandra to Commenor. There she knew of at least one if not two safehouses.
Guards were distracted and taken down, cuffed together to a pipe, and held at gunpoint while Umedara approached the target. The sounds of fighting surrounded her and Chandra, as more of whatever the Alliance crew could muster rushed down toward the cargo bay while being met with more pirates, as criminal ships continued to lock and pop into the zone where the Scylla now side by side with the Evenstar began to transport goods, supplies, and technology.
"Ms. Chandra, please right this way - let's make this as painless as possible." Umedara emerged from the darkness, black hair tied back, her green skin and forest green-hued tattoos made it plain as the lights above. She was a Miralan, the scoundrel attire and Corellian blood stripes spoke of battles elsewhere, or maybe she just stole the pants off some poor sod. The blaster pistol in its holster and hands-free of weapons did display either over-confidence or vulnerability. "I'd hate to get your lovely dress all dirty, and filled with blood."

House calls. How drab.

It was one thing for a beat cop or some detective from a local agency to take these - and an entirely different matter when they came straight to his boss. Asking Chief Guillaume directly for someone by name did nothing more than make his skin crawl. He remembered it like it was yesterday - mainly because it was yesterday: the secretary throwing his office door ajar like a velvet hurricane.

"Great, just great," the murmur escaped his lips in a sigh.

The smoke from his Red Apple, or Manzana Roja, filled the grav-lift with its sickly-sweet aroma. Long and deep drags, each one promising an escape from the utter catastrophe that was anxiety. Hands no longer trembled and eyes no longer darted to and fro. For a moment he was whole. One being.

Sebastian caught the Marshal glancing at him, as if asking an unspoken question. Was he going to ask if he was alright? Or if this call was just another nervous inquiry from someone who's self-importance outweighed their common sense?

Sebastian's frown remained but his shoulders spoke for him: shrugging.

Better not be a waste of time.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Though many of the Galaxy's Jedi had seen themselves go docile, the Galactic Alliance was quick to use theirs as an asset in all facets. Military, diplomacy and peacekeeping were often the calls of duty. Even if Maynard had only really proven himself useful in the first. His forms were unorthodox, his potential unharnessed but he was cut from a tougher cloth. Born into nigh poverty in one of the many Mandalorian settlements of Concord Dawn on the periphery of the creed-born. Even still he'd fought, got knocked down and got back up again every time.

That toughness more often than not endeared himself to the Rangers, Commandos and troopers he'd served alongside to this point. He did not posture himself better than them, he really...really wasn't. He was a mortal man just as any other. His only leg up coming from his force power, his unorthodox swordsmanship and persistence.

No reprieve, they were at the eve of a dogged advance.

"It's a nice and easy one. Punch a hole, take out the AA and we can start flooding in more of our troopers to take ahold of this city. For now we're stuck in with ground assets. I'll take a team up and over these fortifications, clear them out and then move in on the AA. Looks like their line is softened up here. Ryv, Gala and whoever else can scale it and we can move in on this last gun together. Sound good?" Maynard said pointing to specific areas on the holomap between them all, donning his Jedi Guardian armor aesthetically flavored to resemble the Journeyman Protectors of Concord Dawn, an ode to his roots and more importantly his newfound brother-in-arms in his cousin Konrad Bolter Konrad Bolter . Pulling the helmet from tucked under his right arm he turns the visor facing outward inline with his own gaze before he pulls the visage over his head, covering the still prominent grievous scar that'd been inflicted on him by Tathra. Within the HUD he watched as Dare plugged Maynard into the squad, the green outline of the Commandos shimmering blue.

<"Well if its alright by the boys I don't care to waste much more time when we could be dusting these thugs. Let's head on out."> Maynard said, stepping to the side of the table he smacked a hand against the top of Din's helmet before moving past him and out of the command tent.

Under the cover of Halberds, Pernachs and Cataphracts and the dogged advance of Alliance troopers and marines, the sights all but too closely resembled the beginning stages of Harnaidan. Only serving to reverborate his nerves it wasn't all too much longer before Maynard alongside the Alliance Commandos were scaling the tall fortifications, surging past the last stretch to land on his feet at the top of the ramparts. With mercenary blasters quick to turn on him, Maynard sank himself into the fury of battle once more with a cut of his saber slicing through the abdomen of the first marauder crossing his path.
