TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES

  • *Updated combat software to create a more intelligent and aware soldier

*Up-armored frame leads to somewhat greater resistance to weaponry than their predecessors
STRENGTHS

Sharper Image: The B1H series is updated with a more sophisticated, modern droid brain, leading to a smarter soldier that will make full use of squad-level tactics, respond to changing battlefield scenarios, and quasi-intelligently attempt to out-think its enemies well as outfight them.

Battle Turtle: The B1H has been retrofitted with stronger armored plates, covering vital systems and ensuring that, unlike its flimsy predecessor, the B1H won't go down so easily, at least to conventional weapons.

Inexpensive: While more costly than the obsolete B1-series that it is based on, the B1H is nonetheless fairly inexpensive, and often deployed in the same substantial numbers as said predecessor.

WEAKNESSES

Ion Weaponry: In order to keep costs down, B1H droids are no more resilient than their predecessors against the ravages of ion weapons... or Force Lightning.

Lightsabers: Isn't everything?

DESCRIPTION

As Helix gathered more information about changing battlefield conditions, it became clear that the ancient droid soldier models it relied on were no longer adequate. Therefore, they drafted up the earliest schematics for what they hoped would become the new face of their army: the B1H.

Sporting a greatly upgraded droid brain, the B1H is intended to be the equal (or at least, close enough to shoot one) of any standard organic foot soldier in terms of battlefield reactivity. While still maintaining something of the swarming numbers of their predecessors, the B1H will behave more intelligently in the field, able to perform more complex tasks, as well as (thankfully) fire its weapon with greater accuracy.

Its frame is superficially similar to the standard B1, but retrofitted with sturdier armor on the limbs and chest and a far greater resistance to blaster bolts and solid projectiles. The B1H will survive at least a few hits from either before going down.

However, it was judged that should a B1H encounter the sort of beings who typically wield lightsabers, no amount of saber protection would be sufficient. As such, protection against these weapons is not a feature of their design, and they will usually attempt to fall back and reorganize if faced with lightsaber-wielding combatants that they are otherwise unable to defeat.

Likewise, the B1H has no particular resistance to Ion weapons, the classic bane of all droids, nor to flame or heat-based weapons, sonic weapons, or any of the other more exotic forms of weaponry. While they can shrug off environmental cold like any droid, weaponized cold such as carbonite armaments are not something they are especially resistant to.

Overall, Helix's projections calculate an overall combat efficiency increase per unit of over 200%, and all for upgrades that can be installed onto existing B1 droids.

All done here. Changed the droid's armaments to reflect their new standard-issue weapon, and listed some special weapons they can occasionally be found using as special issue. Also gave them 2 Thermal Detonators apiece cuz I forgot to issue them any grenades the first time.
