  • Rad-Laced Shots: Like the E-5H rifle, this weapon's shots contain small quantities of Blue Phosphorus, somewhat increasing range and lethality.
WEAKNESSES
  • Clunky: The E-4H is fairly bulky for a pistol, and thus ill-suited to concealment in most cases.
  • Unstable: The E-4H fires dangerous toxic munitions coupled with a blistering rate of fire, and if used too aggressively can overheat, or even explode.
DESCRIPTION

The E-4H was developed in response to complaints from droid officers and support personnel that the E-5H was too clunky to carry around in the course of their duties.

Still relatively large for a pistol, the E-4H is nonetheless in many ways an ideal weapon for support personnel or vehicle crews, being able to be strapped to a holster at the waist, or fitted with a stock and optics for use as a close-ranged "submachine gun".

The weapon was received well for its rapid, hammering rate of fire, relative to its rifle counterpart. Even some frontline infantry droids grew to prefer it for lightness and its superior performance in close-quarters situations when in its carbine configuration, and such weapons can from time to time be seen in use by squads assigned to close-quarters work.

Like the E-5H, the carbine fires ammunition laced with deadly Blue Phosphorus, Helix's in-house incendiary toxin, and wounds caused by this weapon can be very severe indeed, though not quite as much so as the rifle on a shot-for-shot basis, as the infusion is somewhat milder. The shriek normally caused by phosphorus blasters rapidly intensifies into a deafening scream when the weapon is fired on full-auto, and the noise level of several of these opening up at once can rapidly become intolerable to enemy troops, though their droid users tend to find the racket amusing.

Still, the weapon has some problems, most notably the lack of a rate-of-fire limiter like its big brother. The weapon can rapidly generate heat if its full-auto function is abused too much in a short period, and may shut down temporarily, or even explode in the user's hands in rare cases. Even droids may find being suddenly doused in flaming blaster fuel to be a somewhat unpleasant experience, and Helix doctrine stresses that rapid sprays of fire, as entertaining as they may be, be used in quick bursts only save under the direst of circumstances.
