PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Helix appears on the surface to be a simple, if extremely effective, mercenary leader. He seems to have no true loyalties or beliefs beyond what the client pays for; marching alongside the Sith one day, providing security from pirates the next. Whether he is friend or foe depends purely on who is footing the bill.

In truth, Helix is something of a Separatist, albeit taking those beliefs to their most extreme logical conclusion, bordering on anarchism. He dislikes most of the galaxy's established powers, but for the right price, will work alongside any of them.

Helix is generally quiet and erudite in his personal habits, albeit still possessing much of the legendary arrogance tactical droids are prone to.

STRENGTHS

Military Genius: Capable of processing information at rates comfortably into the realm of the superhuman, Helix can manage the complexities of real-time warfare to a degree impossible for most others, be it in space or on the ground, as well as manage any other form of data required.

Master Statistician: Related to the above, Helix can immediately determine the probability rate of a given outcome occurring, a trait very useful indeed for the various crime lords, warlords, and other undesirables he hires himself out to.

Non-Organic: Helix is immune to the effects of vacuum, as well as radiation, poison, and any mind-affecting Force abilities. Additionally, with proper maintenance, his lifespan is effectively indefinite.

Personality Backup: Helix occasionally uploads his consciousness into various backups or spare bodies, making permanently eradicating this droid very difficult for all but the most determined adversaries.

Skilled Combatant: Though ideally he isn't caught in direct combat, Helix has nonetheless planned for this eventuality, using his weapons, at range or in close combat, well enough to dispatch the average would-be assassin. A tall, heavy, and practiced mechanical brute, his body is not quite as dangerous as his mind, but it is close...

WEAKNESSES

Ion Vulnerability: Being a droid, Helix will shut down temporarily upon exposure to ion weapons or strong sources of static electricity.

Superiority Complex: Though a deadly mind to pit oneself against, Helix has been bested before simply due to considering his opponents beneath him, and will not always consider more insane or desperate courses of action.

My Ship!: If a droid may truly care about anything, Helix cares about his flagship, and will take any action needed, no matter how extreme, to preserve it.

HISTORY

Helix was manufactured shortly before the end of the Clone Wars, and participated in some of the latter battles of that conflict. His small flotilla experienced a hyperdrive malfunction shortly before the Battle of Utapau after being trapped in a massive radiation storm, stranding him outside the edge of the known galaxy when the shutdown codes for the CIS droid armies were sent out. They failed to reach him. What happened to him out in the void is a mystery, but most who know him speculate he saw something out in the vastness between the stars, something that changed him. Helix spent the couple of decades slowly making his way back to known space via sublight engine, to find a galaxy unrecognizable to him.

Unfortunately for that galaxy, Helix was a quick learner, and soon became a brain for hire, advising Hutts, Pykes, and occasionally, legitimate governments. When times were lean, he turned to outright piracy, and gradually, mercenary work. For the next eight centuries, Helix carved a path of blood across the stars, even briefly throwing his lot in with the Alliance to Restore the Republic before abandoning the cause shortly after the Battle of Endor.

At present, it's business as usual for Helix, as he currently aids the Sith Inquisition on their crusade into the Outer Rim, amongst other campaigns. Still, his true loyalties lie with himself, and the Sith are only a convenient stepping stone towards his larger goals...
