BORN & BRED
Life on Kalidan is a unique experience, to be sure. On a world - nay; within an Empire dominated by a regime that could easily be described as stratified and totalitarian, one would expect the typical tropes to apply, such as bigotry against the non-conforming or different, which would be followed by hatred and ultimately violence. It would be inaccurate to say that bigotry does not exist in the Eternal Empire, but rather than it being based upon the color of ones’ skin or the species/race one identifies as, it is based on one’s status in life, which bespeaks a perception as to how valuable oneself is to the Empire as a whole. Aximand’s early life was molded in such an environment, where immense pressure was exerted to shape him into the perfect image of a full citizen within the Empire. Although his father - an Arkanian known as Joachim Sicarus - had served within the military for the required period so as to gain full citizenship and marry the love of his life (Aximand’s mother, a Nelvaanian named ‘Hera’), such respect within the eyes of society would only last so long before Aximand would have to forge his own path. In preparation for this eventuality, his father enrolled him at an early age within preparatory academies focused on a career in excess of a traditional term in the military; usually catering to aristocratic families or those of high renown. While his father did not have the privilege of rising to the level of an aristocrat within Imperial society, enrollment in such academies by other castes within society was actually, more or less, encouraged. Joachim worked hard to ensure he could pay for his son’s education all of those years, and gave of his own time to enforce a strict regimen of both physical and mental conditioning.
It was all that Aximand ever knew from his adolescence onward; while his father was not a mean-spirited or abusive man, he could also not be described as nurturing or affectionate. Their recreation was filled with war games featuring miniature representations of warships on a table, or in puzzles meant to enhance Aximand’s critical thinking ability. Nearly every facet of his life was centered on the future career his father so desperately wanted for him. His mother, while of Nelvaanian blood and born into this society (whereas his father was a transplant into it), carried a lighter and more loving disposition, but never publicly contradicted or countermanded Joachim’s parenting or rules within the house. In due course, Aximand (or Axe, as he came to be known affectionately among his peers) graduated preparatory school and entered the ascended with honors to the Eternal Academy for Naval Officers. There, he meticulously learned fleet tactics from the greatest minds in the Empire, studied fleet battles from wars both recent and ancient, such as the ‘Clone Wars’ and the ‘Great Galactic Civil War.’ As he progressed, his talent for cold, calculated, and ruthless decision making rendered him as a prime candidate for a path toward starship command. He soon graduated with top honors from the academy (within the top 1% of his graduating class), and was given his first assignment as a ‘Junior Lieutenant’ aboard an Eagle-class Escort Frigate, known as the ’Manticore’.
DUTY & HONOR
Axe served with distinction aboard the Manticore, soon ascending to the rank of Senior Lieutenant; serving as the executive officer to his then Captain, Rigel Cavandis. Rigel was a full blooded Nelvaanian, who at first did not much care for his half-Arkanian counterpart. While racism and bigotry were not a part of the fabric of Imperial Society, Rigel was among a minority who mistrusted those of non-Nelvaanian descent. Yet, Aximand had comported himself honorably under the Captain’s command, to the point where despite Rigel’s distaste of the young officer, he could not argue with the Lieutenant’s dedication to the Empire’s ideals, and his capabilities as an officer. Over the following years, Aximand would commend himself even more within the Captain’s eyes, to the point where a friendship soon began to grow between the two men. He learned much from his Captain, lessons that remain with Aximand even to this day. Axe would eventually rise to the attention of Naval High Command, and per a recommendation submitted by Rigel himself, would receive his own command by the age of 25, along with a promotion to Captain. His first command was of a Retribution-class Corvette known as the ’Belasav VII’. This was around the same time as several wars were declared to expand the Eternal Empire’s influence within the unknown regions, which resulted in Aximand receiving the opportunity to showcase the dedication and skill of both himself and the members of his crew.
In battle after battle, they did just that. The crew of the Belasov VII were known to be both daring, but also fearless in their support of other ships within their fleet. Before long, Aximand would experience a meteoric rise through the ranks over the following 10 years. During the Empire’s war against The Sith Empire, Aximand would rise to command two more ships until commanding the vessel he now does, the two being a Mordekai-class Escort Cruiser known as the ’Peerless’ & an IST-671 Flurry-class Carrier, known as the ’Lorik’. During his tenure of service within the military campaign, as well as the following campaigns between then and now, Aximand has received several notable commendations, such as the Silver Escort Badge, the Commendation Model, and the Meritorious Service award for his crew’s reputation aboard the ;Belasov VII’. Roughly six years ago, Aximand received his most recent promotion to the rank of Commodore, where he would cement his legacy to this date.
EXECUTIONER OF ORELLON II
Following the conquest of Orellon II, it would seem that the citizens of the planet did not take kindly to being brought into the Eternal Embrace of the Empire. Within a few months of the initial conquest, an insurgency took root within the planet, so much so that the Eternal Empire’s presence upon the planet became increasingly destabilized with each passing week thereafter. Upon receiving his promotion to Commodore, Aximand was assigned with the thankless task of bringing the errant populace back to compliance, through any means necessary. The following months would give rise to a new moniker to the Commodore; ‘The Executioner of Orellon II’. Assigned the command of his current vessel, a Callides-class Heavy Carrier dubbed ’The Retribution', he was also given provisional command of a strike force of five other ships. Whatever meager defenses the insurgents could erect fell swiftly upon the flotillas arrival in orbit. What would follow could only be described as a campaign of reprisal - mass executions of known and suspected insurgents, the complete destruction of entire settlements, forcing the civilian population to relocate to shanty towns amassing amongst Imperial outposts and field HQs, and in forcibly seizing the planet’s means of agricultural production. While the fires of rebellion surged now and again in a natural reaction to the new order of things, “The Axe’s” occupation would see the eventual dissolvement of any meaningful resistance to the Empire, as the will of the people was swiftly and ruthlessly crushed under the shadow of the ends the Commodore was willing to go to. Throughout the remaining years of the 'Stygian Campaign', as well as the months that followed, Commodore Sicarus served at the new Empress’s pleasure, his career trending in an upward trajectory as he carried out her will in whatever way she deemed suitable - even though that meant a shorter, less bloody leash.
BATTLEGROUP STYGIAN
Over the approximately 18-months since the end of the Eternal Empire's war with the Galactic Alliance, the Empire has not been devoid of strife or conflict. From the Commodore's efforts to break the influence of the Shadow Empire on Keskin, to the incident on Danuta, and his celebrated heroism among several others in the Invasion of Danuta (which resulted in the decimation of the Bryn'adul Empire), Empress Ingrid L'lerim saw fit to personally recommend Aximand's promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral of Battlegroup Stygian.
Forged as part of the Eternal Fleet's rearmament initiatives, Battlegroup Stygian is comprised of reorganized elements of the Reclamation fleet, as well as nearly-destroyed flotillas that engaged in heavy fighting against the Galactic Alliance but have since been rebuilt. Based out of the Imperial bastion built within the Codia system, the battlegroup is tasked with the patrol and defense of the sectors bordering unknown space - its namesake serving as a reminder for the threats that exist beyond.

A P P E A R A N C E
Aximand is an intimidating figure, with a strong jawline and a physique indicative of a life within the Eternal Empire’s military. His hair is a mixture of salt & pepper, but this is moreso due to his mixed heritage involving a fair haired race more than any advancing in age. His eyes are a pale blue, and he bears several scars across his face, with an eyepatch dominating the right side.
He is rarely seen out of uniform.

STRENGTHS i & i WEAKNESSES
+Natural Leader - While Aximand has a brutal reputation among his enemies, he is known as a natural leader among his crew, easily earning both their admiration and respect. It’s even been said that he can be somewhat pleasant to interact with on social occasions, if not a bit taciturn by nature.
+Master Tactician - Aximand prides himself on knowing exactly what his, and what many other ships, are capable of. He has a talent for placing the ships under his command at the right places at the right time, even if it is simply his flagship.
+Loyal - Aximand’s loyalty to the Eternal Empress is beyond question.
+Swordsman - Although his skills among the stars are his true strength, Aximand is a skilled swordsman, and practices often as a part of his physical exercise. Plus, he considers it a valuable skill in the event of a boarding action.
-Ruthless - Aximand cares not what means he utilizes to accomplish his ends, even if they are truly terrible.
-Hubris - Given his pedigree of success, Aximand is not accustomed to defeat. That makes the few defeats he has suffered all the more infuriating when they happen, as if they are a personal stain on his honor.
