STRENGTHS

• Ship killer: The updated AX-Wing is well suited to targeting transports, gunships, freighters, corvettes and even frigate sized vessels, thanks to its heavy turbolaser weaponry
• Point defense: To increase the AX-Wing's survivability and versatility, the vessel is equipped with a pair of NZ ARD-1 Mono Type Point Defense System Laser Cannons, which can be used to shoot down incoming missile fire
• Armored: The AX-Wing is heavily armored for a starship of its size, making it difficult to destroy in battle
• Small: Despite its powerful armament, the AX-Wing is a relatively small vehicle, making it more difficult to target at long range
• Droid brain: Though it is not fully automated, the AX-Wing's Proton Mk I Droid Brains makes piloting and operating the ship far easier

WEAKNESSES

• Ship killer: Because it is specialized toward engaging sub-capital ships, the AX-Wing tends to struggle against starfighters and smaller spaceships
• Slow: The AX-Wing is a rather slow moving starfighter, even with its SLAB subsystem activated
• Unmaneuverable: The AX-Wing is similarly unmaneuverable in combat, even when its AIMS subsystem is activated
• No ordinance: The AX-Wing is incapable of firing any type of ordinance, as it lacks the weapon systems necessary to do so
• Expensive: AX-Wings are relatively costly to purchase and deploy, which may limit their availability in the field

DESCRIPTION

Though the original AX-Wing proved to be a robust and reliable design, the ship often suffered when going up against more nimble and numerous starfighters, oftentimes limiting its overall deployment. The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has decided to update the design by turning the ship into a "sub-capital ship killer", specializing it for engaging transports, gunships, freighters, corvettes and even frigate sized vessels.

The AX-Wing's heavy laser cannons were replaced with NZ HP1 Turbolaser Cannons and supplied with Dornean Plasma, making them as powerful as absolutely possible. A pair of NZ ARD-1 Mono Type Point Defense System Laser Cannons were installed onto the ship to allow it to take out incoming missiles, and 4 L-s9.3 Laser Cannons were fitted to the ship's TIE Interceptor Quadanium Steel wings.

Though it lacks any sort of ordinance launchers, the weaponry installed onto the AX-Wing allows it to engage ships far larger than itself, especially when operating in multiple squadrons. That being said, the AX-Wing should still be supported by more conventionally operated starfighters whenever possible, as the ship's low speed and maneuverability can prove to be a major liability during combat.
