Augustus Tassar is the Lord Imperatant of the Indomitus Legion, commander of the Hegemony's military order, master of the remnant Imperial Praetorian Guard, and the closest companion of Aurelian Sigismund. A towering Homo Aurum Maior clone, he was engineered for leadership rather than mere warfare, combining superhuman physical prowess with an exceptional strategic mind. Though only a few decades old, Augustus has become an influential figure in the post-Imperial era, serving as the architect of campaigns, keeper of doctrine, and the foremost executor of Aurelian's vision. To many, he is known simply as the Lion, the silent guardian who stands vigil over the ideals of the New Order.
Unlike the Force-sensitive knights and warriors who serve beneath him, Augustus is Force Dead, utterly disconnected from the Force. Yet he commands them nonetheless. As operational leader of the successor order to the Knights of Zakuul and supreme commander of the Indomitus Legion, he embodies the Hegemony's belief that authority is earned through merit, discipline, and judgment rather than mystical power. Calm, analytical, and unwaveringly composed, Augustus rarely raises his voice or indulges in displays of emotion. His presence alone carries the weight of absolute confidence.
To his soldiers, Augustus is the living embodiment of the Lex Valoris, the ideal Indomitus Knight made flesh. To the Empire's enemies, he is an implacable commander whose resolve cannot be shaken by fear, politics, or faith. Yet beneath the armor and legend lies a man defined by duty above all else. He does not seek glory, power, or worship. His purpose is singular: to safeguard the Empire, guide the Legion, and ensure that New Order's vision endures. Where the Iron Sun illuminates the path forward, the Lion stands watch, vigilant and unyielding.

PERSONALITY
Augustus Tassar is a man of immense intellect, discipline, and purpose, but very little natural understanding of ordinary human emotion. Raised in isolation, engineered for command, and shaped by decades of service at the heart of the Empire, he approaches the galaxy as a series of systems to be understood, organized, and improved. He is calm to the point of discomfort, rarely displaying strong emotion and often struggling to comprehend motivations rooted in passion, faith, love, hatred, or personal ambition. While he can recognize these forces intellectually, they remain alien to him, variables to account for rather than experiences he truly shares. This social ineptitude is often mistaken for arrogance or coldness, though in truth Augustus simply finds individuals far more difficult to understand than institutions.
Where others possess intuition for people, Augustus possesses intuition for structures. He sees how armies should be organized, how governments should function, how doctrines should be written, and how loyalty can be cultivated across generations. Some of the Empire's most enduring institutions bear his fingerprints: the Indomitus Legion itself, the principles of the Lex Valoris, and the military philosophy behind the Fist of the Empire all originated from his vision. He is less a conqueror than an architect of power, gifted with an extraordinary ability to transform abstract ideals into functioning organizations. Given a vision, Augustus can create the systems, hierarchies, traditions, and logistics necessary to sustain it long after others would have failed.
Perhaps his greatest talent is logistical and strategic comprehension. Augustus instinctively understands the movement of armies, the distribution of resources, the maintenance of supply lines, and the practical realities that determine whether a campaign succeeds or collapses. While many commanders focus on battles, he thinks in terms of wars, and while others think in terms of wars, he thinks in terms of civilizations. This combination of institutional genius, strategic foresight, and unwavering discipline has made him indispensable to Aurelian Sigismund. If Aurelian is the visionary who imagines the future, Augustus is the Lion who builds the machinery to make that future possible and then stands watch to ensure it endures.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
Institution Builder - Exceptional ability to create, organize, and sustain military, political, and social institutions. Responsible for shaping organizations such as the Indomitus Legion, the Lex Valoris, and broader Imperial doctrine.
Strategic Vision - Thinks in campaigns, wars, and generations rather than battles or political terms. Excels at long-term planning and grand strategy.
Logistical Mastery - Possesses an intuitive understanding of supply chains, force deployment, resource management, and military administration.
Discipline - Maintains extraordinary self-control and is highly resistant to fear, manipulation, corruption, and emotional pressure.
Leadership - Commands respect through competence, consistency, and personal example rather than charisma or status.
Analytical Intelligence - Processes vast amounts of information quickly and excels at evaluating complex military, political, and organizational problems.
Meritocratic Judgment - Values competence and achievement above personal relationships, favoritism, or political considerations.
Reliability - Dependable, predictable, and unwavering in carrying out his responsibilities and commitments.
Force Independence - As a Force Dead individual, he is largely immune to the prestige and mystique surrounding Force users, allowing him to evaluate them objectively.
Master Combatant - Trained extensively in virtually every form of armed and unarmed combat, Augustus is among the Empire's most dangerous individual warriors. Whether wielding his signature vibroglaive, a sidearm, heavy weapon, or fighting bare-handed, he adapts quickly and fights with relentless efficiency.
Battlefield Presence - Augustus possesses an exceptional ability to read and control the flow of combat in real time. He coordinates allies, exploits weaknesses, and maintains situational awareness even in chaotic engagements, making those around him more effective while disrupting enemy momentum.
Poor Emotional Intuition - Struggles to understand motivations rooted in love, faith, passion, grief, hatred, or personal attachment.
Socially Inept - Often awkward in personal interactions and lacks natural skill in emotional communication or relationship-building.
Institutional Bias - Tends to believe systems, discipline, and organization can solve problems that are often deeply human or cultural in nature.
Limited Empathy - Has difficulty relating to weakness, indecision, emotional vulnerability, or irrational behavior.
Overly Rational - Can dismiss emotional, spiritual, or symbolic factors that may be critically important to others.
Duty-Bound - Defines himself almost entirely through service, responsibility, and purpose, leaving little room for personal identity.
Moral Rigidity - Once convinced something is necessary for the Empire's success, he becomes extremely difficult to persuade otherwise.
Difficulty Understanding the Force - Understands Force users intellectually but cannot fully grasp the spiritual and emotional dimensions of Force-based beliefs.
Intimidating Presence - His stature, reputation, and reserved demeanor often create distance between himself and ordinary people.
Perfectionist Standards - Expects exceptional competence from himself and others, sometimes setting unrealistic expectations.
Calculated Fighter - Augustus prefers disciplined and methodical engagements. While highly adaptable, opponents who fight irrationally, emotionally, or unpredictably can occasionally disrupt his expectations and force him to reassess more frequently than he would prefer.
Limited Force Counterplay - Despite extensive anti-Force training and experience commanding Force-sensitive warriors, Augustus remains a non-sensitive combatant. Against the galaxy's most powerful Force users, he cannot rely on precognition, telepathy, or supernatural awareness, forcing him to compensate through preparation, technology, skill, and tactics alone.
