An Amalgam of Parts (Remnant Dominion of Kad V)

Ikki heard her princess speak and give the orders as she bowed her head to that. Clasping her hands in front of her she bowed quickly hearing the rest on the communications. "As you command princess." The little maid rose and turned around brushing herself off while she moved towards the one shuttle and grabbed only a communication device for her ear while her gunbelt and net launcher were attached to her hips. A pistol at the ready and she secured the gloves heading down to meet the others. She could think of a few things and push forward but making sure the princess was safe had become a priority. The looks she got from some of the soldiers while she stood in the shuttle with them had Ikki remaining very calm and at the ready only checking her fingers for the carbonite weights to lash out.

Utena moved with the squad in the ship now. She might not be the best with it but holding a rifle she was ready to begin and try it out as a voice came over the coml;link and she heard the one heir to the empire... Her comment getting a small snicker wile the team were opening the shuttle on the ground. Utena nodded her head and hefted the rifle bringing it to her shoulder while she flicked it back and forth with her head in a wide arc. "We're on the ground big sis."

"You do not have that authority junior agent."

In all honesty Alva normally wouldn't have bothered with dealing with the annoyance, but hearing his little spcheel over the comm unit left her rather. . . . irritated. Not to mention more than a little upset considering his foolish arrogance, something she had dearly punished someone else for once already. Taking into account he apparently thought he was the senior officer with his rank of junior officer, she heard him trying to mimic the Admiral's response to her even though he had already answered her clearly too. And while she herself wasn't certain where Ayumi Pallopides, Sai Fel, and even her sister sat in actual ranking structure, his threat to them as he attempted to boss them about considering their social status and many resources and connections just was deplorable.

Even now she could hear Lady Pallopides bring up a request to beat the intelligence operative as she landed her TIE Seeker and began checks on her Crinan Combat Armor and equipment. "I understand that his affront was quite foolish and without merit Lady Ayumi, but let it slide for a moment. There are more important matters to attend to. Several units will be deploying around the station now, both Imperial Storm Commandos and Crinan Royal Elite will be taking part. I've attached a squad to both you and Lady Fel, my sister already has Valkyrie Squadron and my. . . servant to escort her. The junior agent is right though to call the squad's technician or engineer if something of importance is discovered so they can analyze it or safely ensure it can be brought back for later study."

The journey groundside would prove itself quiet. Everyone knew what was expected from them and what they had to do. The news about the beasts were discomforting but seeing as this was what they had done most of their lives they blocked any worry from their systems. They were here to search the ship for survivors. The reports looked grim but there were still hope. The fact that the chance for backup was as slim as it was would be the only true dent in the morale.

There had been only a few missions where backup wouldn’t have been available and the last one had ended with half of the squad lying dead in a rebel bunker. Each member of Zeta Squad remained quiet with their head bowed down as if getting themselves ready mentally. Each of them hoping that this wouldn’t be a repetition of history.

The transport touched ground and the squad quickly got out one after each other. The jungles were certainly a new experience and a small part of the Crinan squad couldn’t help thinking how unlike this was anywhere most of them had ever been before. The thick air as the warmth of the sun evaporated the waters around them proved itself an uncomfortable factor but one that they could adapt to.

In the distance there was a pillar of smoke rising. It was the downed ship, no doubt about it. With careful steps the soldiers began their march toward their objective.

Cipher nine ignored princess, and the entitled brat, as soon a competent officer arrived on the station Colrenn would gladly turn command of squads over them, he had his own orders and mission to complete on station as well. Colrenn was very hands on, when it came to his command style, he would use other when necessary but Colrenn could pick up things the troops could not he was trained in espionage as well as combat. So for now he waited and commanded the troops on the station.

Cipher nine had stated back up the ramp to his shuttle to monitor the progress of the troops on the station and prepare for his mission, when suddenly the lights of station flickered, the docking bay doors closed and the COMMS went dead. “Damn!, this can be good, defensive positions, go to night vision! “he yell to the troops that remained to guard the shuttles as felt his around the shuttle retrieving his night vision goggles putting them as he activated them. As he emerged he saw an astro mech droid coming down the ramp to other shuttles “You, there droid, get to the shuttles COMM panel and send a distress signal.” He said the droid beeped and chirped and wheeled back up the ramp into the shuttle. ~hopefully the droid can get through; the contingency plan was an unpleasant one. “Stay on your guard, troopers.” He said as he pulled his own blaster from it’s holster on his back. He looked down the corridor and saw nothing, but heard strange roar like sounds echo through the station mixed with Human screams.

The jungle was uncomfortable and there was an irritable tension in the air as the squad trudged through muck and grime of a planet that was a far cry from the Crinan climate that they were used to. Walking in a line formation each squad member had been given their own angle to keep track of. There were noises and sounds that they had never heard before yet the soldiers remained cool.

Passing over a small hill they could all see the pillar of smoke again. It had gotten closer, way closer and in the distance they could see what appeared to be the metallic end of the crashed ship popping up over the crowns of the treeline.

“Do you think there were any survivors?”

“I don’t know, Eve.”

“I don’t like this.”

“Neither do I, Juliana.”

The squad continued their push toward the ship and the tension grew for each passing step. Step by step each member started to get more antsy, not necessarily scared as much as increasingly wary. This was an alien planet to them after all.

I eased on the stick as we dropped through the upper atmosphere. After a bit of turbulence we passed through a layer of cloud cover and followed the other transport carrying the Crinan soldiers. “Delta Two prep for touchdown in two minutes. All right boys and girls we’ll be hitting the mud in ONE O FIVE seconds. Disembarkation quick and easy I want dust off in 20 seconds!” I could feel the passion of flying flowing in my veins.
Our goal was to land our platoon of storm troopers next to the troops already on the ground slugging away. After that I was going to instill some air superiority by providing over watch as the ground forces moved in. For now those were my orders. As we followed the other transport down into the jungle canopy we honed in on the where the Crinan and Imperial that had deployed ahead

I took us up and over the canopy just barely glimpsing at the crinan squad. A small clearing ahead gave us space to land. Right in the mud. We had about 54 storm troopers geared up in jungle camouflage and a few patrol speeders and speeder bikes on board. I was looking forward to lighten the load as quickly as possible. Delta Two opened up the retractable laser cannons and had them trained to the front of where we were landing. Always land every time as if you are in a combat zone and you'll increase your chances for survival.

Alright troopers prepare to get dirty!" I commed back.
I could hear a rousing "For the Emperor" shouted by the platoon. As we descended into the dark dank underbrush of the jungle we finally began to settle down. "Hitting landing ramps now, Green light to disembark, green light to disembark... GO GO GO"

I had us hovering about 1 meter off the jungle floor. It was tight, I barely deployed the landing gear just to stabilize us for a moment. True to form the Storm troopers executed a flawless disembarkation gaining a perimeter in 17 seconds. The landspeeders and speeder bikes were off loaded.
The hostile nature of the planet came from the enviroment more than an actual enemy faction. The ground forces now down should be well supported. "Alright dust off, lets get the hell in the air Delta Two"
"Roger that Delta One," he retracted the guns and we began to lift off.
"This is Delta One to ground forces we'll be on station to provide aerial support if needed and will be broadcasting a Search and Rescue code, radio us when you need assistance"

The Station

For those on the station, the lights have gone dark and bulkheads have been sealed. No attempts at communications have been made by the staff of the facility. Somewhere within the confines of the labs, a Dalek Beast has gotten loose and has been systematically killing the staff and absorbing them into its body. It has taken on a humanoid shape, but is much larger than any human would ever be. A single scientist has gone nuts and is the one who released the beast. He is now in control of the station, and has turned its varying defenses against the outsiders, starting by trying to lock them in place. As they delve further they will find worse.

Mason, having heard that [member="Colrenn"] is disobeying orders, slams his hand on his comms.

"LIEUTENANT COLRENN! I will not have you disobeying the orders of a superior officer! Lieutenant Colonel Calvarona heavily outranks you. You will do as she says or you will be removed from service. Deschart out."

The Planet

The ship is a mess. Parts and bodies are strewn everywhere. Not much of the thing seems to have survived. It's also infested with Dalek beasts that are trying to get to the people trapped inside. There are a handful of survivors, mostly essential crew. Many of those survivors are injured and frightened by the beasts. There is no sign of the ships Captain. When the crew is rescued from the Dalek Beasts, once the ground side forces figure out how to beat them, they will need medical attention.

TK touched down into the mud and centred his E-11. The planet was a mud pit and it was cold here. His armour barely kept heat inside his body and already some of the softer troopers began to grumble.

"Shut the frak up troopers. PL get us a bearing on our objective."

"Yes sir."

TK crouched down as the perimeter was set and the platoon leader sat in the mud with compass and map trying to get an azimuth. Normally they would use satellites but TK was from the old school. Equipment broke, laws of physics and eyeballs almost always worked.

"Got it sir, twenty degrees north, five kilometers."

"All right, get your asses up men. Patrol formation two man spaces. Heavy weapons on point and rear."

The platoon of troopers fell into parallel lines, mud and water caking their armor. TK looked at a young private and shook his head. The Crninan soldiers were here with them and they were getting on his nerves....

Perhaps being among the group stuck on the station wasn't such a good idea now anymore. The lights going off within the station's hanger as the stormtroopers and Crinan soldiers completed disembarking and slipped into their formations wasn't a comforting sign. Even within their sets of rather advanced armor, she herself wearing a set of Crinan armor replete with an energy blade, and slicewire she had acquired while trying with Ikki her servant, for some reason the dangers lurking on board the research station still felt rather threatening. Especially when none of them had a clear idea of what was on the station at all regarding defenses or enemies.

This was a research station so there had to be scientists and technicians at the very least in the way of population, but there was likely a security team on board as well with whatever other internal systems were set up. Such as automated blaster turrets hidden in ceiling panels and the like. Or decompression chambers. Those would be nasty, the lack of air wouldn't be so bad for some of the armor sets the troopers were wearing, but the potential force might be a problem depending on how rapid the process was.

Although, the sound of screaming that echoed throughout the hallways alluded to something much more terrifying within the station. It made Alva draw out her energy blade and activate the weapon for a moment before satisfying herself with it and turning to look over her own mixed squad of stormtroopers and crinan royal guard. "All units will fan out and take the various corridors. Unit 1 will consist of Valkyrie Squad and its accompanying members. Unit 2 will be myself and a mixed Imperial/Crinan squad of the 181st. Unit 3 will be led by Ladies Ayumi and Sai Fel, they will be taking an elite Stormtrooper Squad. All units have a pair of technicians and engineers in their midst. Protect these individuals, it will be their job to recover any research or components of value you encounter. Our objective is to uncover the purpose of the research here and gain some insight on what they were doing, as well as perhaps understand why our missing corvette went down. We have orders to bring in the researchers and others alive, however, if there is no other choice to defend yourselves you have permission to shoot to kill. Disperse!"

Signaling to her unit, Alva began heading into the darkness, the soldiers gripping their blaster rifles and moving in a standard four by four formation to cover all angles with a trooper on rear and point.

OOC: Now one path will lead into the dalek beast recently having slaughtered some scientists. Another will lead relatively empty aside from some light damage and corpses. And the last will run into a jittery security team. All of them will have blaster turrets, bulkheads that close and create decompression chambers, or even stun gas. At the end of the corridors all lead to the center of the station where the main lab is, though further back you may find the living quarters where some of the researchers personal work or notes may be of interest as well. This only goes for anyone on the station route. Groundside may set up their own obstacles upon agreement as well.

I lost track of how far I'd gone after a while. It seemed like no matter how far I went I couldn't shake the beasts that were following me. Not all of them had followed me, either. Some were still hanging around inside of the ship, trying to get to the crew that was locked behind a bulkhead. I shouldn't have left them behind, but there was nothing I could do to help them. They were safe as long as they didn't try to open the door. If help ever came for them, they might even manage to be rescued. If not, better to be dead of dehydration than being eaten.

It seemed like she'd wandered a full day before she came across a pit in the ground. It wasn't so much a pit as it was a cave opening, as I soon discovered. I slithered my way down into it, using a bit of magic to create a flame along my hand in order to provide light. It wasn't much but at least I could see. No beasts sprang out at me so that was good. Crawling inside, I curled up against a wall and shivered a bit. The ground was damp and I was covered in mud now.

"This is an awful day."

I had been monitoring the communications throughout the fleet for better part of the last fifteen minutes. My squadron was still on standby awaiting further orders. I kept my gaze on the planet below. I felt worry for those who may have survived. If Intelligence was accurate the jungle world was likely home to a few apex predators. Hopefully the rescue parties would arrive in time.
It seemed a junior colleague of mine from the Intelligence Bureau had begun on a bit of a power trip. Overstepping his authority. Lt. Col Calvarona appeared to have intervened though and reestablished the proper chain of command. Certainly this incident would prove give some headaches for my superiors in the intelligence community… Still I was quite capable of keeping my priorities in order. A man of many hats as Kara put it aptly the other day…
The sudden comm silence though from the station began to worry me. It was as if the commotion and discord was gone, but not filled by the voices of well-mannered and thoughtful orders, rather just pure silence filled the line. “Communications, verify those last messages sent, I want to know why our people have gone dark. Begin hailing the station as well.”
Sir the bulkheads to the hangar have sealed shut!”
I looked out the view port to see for myself physically that indeed the bulkheads had closed.

I turned to the deck officer who was charged with the storm trooper and marine complement on board.
“If we do not hear back a response within the next minute I want three birds with assault teams readied in the next four minutes to breach and board the station on my command.”
"Yes Sir" The storm trooper clicked his heels and turned from the bridge to carry out my orders.

My worry grew but I shook my head for a moment as I thought of the people who were on board. All of them very capable of handling a situation if one of dire circumstance arose. I needed to be ready though in case something went awry they will need to back up. 'Perhaps going along with the troopers to see for myself to ensure the overall objective here is still achieved. Plus considering the disruption my fellow agent has caused, I should perhaps get on board aswell to ascertain any information that contribute towards our research projects...' My thoughts drifted back to my set of storm trooper armor that I had specially tailored. 'Now would be the time to use it' I let out a sigh as I loathed gunfights or sword play. I had taken up fencing and other sword skills and can handle a blaster with moderate success. It was not my element to be in as I felt most at home on the bridge of a star ship. 'Still life deals strange hands sometimes...'
"XO you have the Command, I'll be joining the boarding parties"
"S...Sir?" the man stammered in suprised.
"You heard me, our naval prescense is strong and you have been doing an excellent job thus far in my absence of commanding this vessel. Continue to do so, I'll be heading onto the station now."
"Yes Sir!" The man saluted pride in his voice form the compliment.

I held a low altitude position just above the ground forces. I couldn’t see any sign of any threats just yet. There was a storm though in the distant. A jungle world often was wrought with tropical storms that swelled to hurricane levels. My time was going to be limited and with what my scopes were telling me that ground troops were going to be slogging through the slick of it. The crash site was going to be within minutes of the rain and the rest of the winds. I was just glad to not be on the ground. Who knew what dangers lay ahead.
uh Delta One how long do you think we can remain on station? I mean look at that storm out there!”
I don’t know Delta Two, but we will stay on station until the mission gets done
My gaze held on the roiling dark clouds as lightning pierce the shadows of the rain fall...
"Until the mission gets done" I repeated...

OOC:
Roger that [member="Alva Calvarona"]; Sooooo for us ground side folks I’m tossing in the storm as the reason why we didn’t just fly directly to the crash site. Secondly since Caarthiel just ran off in a random direction she could either end up in our path as we make our way to the crash site. Either way if we meet up with her or not we still need to secure the crash site and find anyone else who may still be alive. Lastly perhaps we’ll run into some daleks along the way ya mud sluggers Xp get to pew pew.

Lieutenant Rell had been on the transport that had dropped off the ground troops, having been deployed to provide sniper cover for the rescue. For the mission, she had been provided with a set of camouflage jungle gear. They had offered her a helmet, but she had refused it. She diden't like using helmets, could interfere with her aim. Now she was somewhat regretting that, what with the massive rain that was falling down on them. Rain may have never killed anyone, but hypothermia brought on by cold rain had. As they neared the objective, She split off from the main force, getting on comms as she did.

"This is Lieutenant Rell, I'm splitting off from the main force to look for a good sniper perch to cover the rest of the team from, over."

((From what I gathered my squad hadn’t noticed the squad until now. I’ll work with it, no problems.))

The storm didn’t aid the squad sight, storms like these rarely did. Not the Teon made it better when in an effort to clear his visor he smudged mud all over it. A stifled chain of curses would make itself heard as the man took off his helmet and attached it to his belt. The raindrops from the storm soaked his black hair and skin.

“This is fething bullshit.”

“Settle down, Teon.”

“Bite me, M.”

“Oh you’d like that wouldn't you?”

The squad came to a halt as Alister glared at the two of them. They weren’t contributing to anything important and gave away their position to anyone or anything that was looking to get them. It was pointless and they should have known better.

The two jokers shaped up and got back in line. They were about to approach the ship, the banter would have to wait.

Ikki arrived on the ground and was looking at Valkyrie squad, the women were tall in armor and armed while Ikki was wearing her uniform and as small as a child. with gloves while she looked on. The chatter had seemed to disappear from the headset for orders and she was walking to protect the princesses and to make sure the ground forces weren't killed. A small look on her face when she bowed and walked off. "I will handle the one hallway." A look at their disbelief had her walking off as Ikki letting one wire off while she was taking it all in stride. Now the fun was really going to begin.

It was damn cold inside of that little hole in the ground. I remember thinking that there was no way I was getting found in all of this mess. Add in the fact that those beasts were still out there hunting me down and I was pretty sure that I was going to end up dead. I'd seen these things up close, and nothing I did had really hurt them. I didn't like that. The feeling of helplessness made me feel like I had when I'd been with my mother and she'd gone off to fight and left me alone. I hated that.

Something moved outside, and I peeked my head around to see if I could see anything. There wasn't anything noticeable, but I doused my flames just in case. I didn't want to draw any extra attention. For the moment I waited with bated breath, hoping that whatever was there would move along. I just had to survive. Somehow.

Objective: Search Wrecked Cruiser for survivors

They had been going and hour with TK in between the two columns before he called a stop. The lightning of the strom crackled over head as the wind whipped up furiosuly. It was a dead shitty day for the troops but there other problems besides that. TK had been following the route inside his helmet on his HUD and even though an officer knew his compass man had fraked up.

"Palatoon halt!...PL get your ass up here!"

"Moving sir."

"Where in the nine hells are we PL."

The platoon leader was silent and TK seething with rage. Another lightning strike lanced down into a nearby cliff, cracking the rocks and causing a mini avalanche off to their left.

"You dont fraking know do you! Get down in the mud your fraking fool!"

"Aye sir."

The platoon leader got down.

"Now push. Platoon listen up, do not be like this guy. This guy will get your killed, he is a fraking idiot. He cant even have the decency, the balls or the integrity to tell me when we are going in the wrong direction. in our line of work the wrong direction can lead you into a mine field. A minefield means your asses are dead!"

The PL was sweating now, muscles straining as he plopped in and out of the mud, pushing for dear life.

"Get the frak up dirt bag, redirect that compaas and set us on course, fail me again I'll knock you senseless."

Then they stood there, in the freezing cold as the PL yet again charted their new course.

"Got it, sir, we are a hundred meters west, we overshot it."

"no fraking kidding, now lead on."

In silence they moved out slogging through mud and rain, TK silently still seething with piss and vinnegar.

There was no time to waste. Alva watched as her maid took the lead of the hallway that Valkyrie Squadron and Utena would travel, she trusted her servant to sufficiently protect her little sister. The sight of the slicewire her little adorable maid utilized and was teaching her to use made Crina's second princess and the Captain of the Remnant's 181st grin beneath her helmet as she readied her own variant of the weapon. It wasn't made of as special a material as Ikki's, but the weapon was impressive nonetheless. Still, Alva also admittedly was slow in learning, or rather she felt that way, she had been working hard, but she was nowhere near having the skill to use as many threads of the lethal wire as her maid could. Perhaps with more time and training, some nice personal training.

That would come later though, for now Alva took the lead of her own unit, leading the way into another hallway. In all honesty she knew not what awaited her or the other groups, but she wasn't going to let herself fall behind. Stormtroopers and Crinan Soldiers kept their blasters readied, and entered the darkness.

((Now in the next post begin describing your routes. Or if I should roll random for everyone let me know!
