  • Forward-Operating Base
The Akaan’laar is purpose-built to serve as a forward operating base for the Mythos Fleet, complete with massive hangar bays, command and control centers, advanced communication arrays, and amenities for deployed forces to gain necessary rest and recovery. With her massive engines and hyperdrive clusters, it can relocate to support the fleet as needed.
  • Hammer & Anvil
Although the station is usually accompanied by escort vessels, the Akaan’laar possesses enough defenses and armaments to defend itself single handedly - capable of weathering the most brutal of assaults, and inflicting devastating punishment upon those who attempt to assail her.
  • War Forge
The bowels of the station were previously abandoned mining tunnels and untouched caverns, which have since been converted into an extensive network of mining, refining, and manufacturing compartments. The Akaan’laar could single-handedly serve as an industrial hub for an entire campaign - alleviating the need for lengthy logistic networks to supply remote offensives.

  • Massive
Although its massive size allows the Akaan’laar to house a vast number of warriors and material, it is a large space station. While it could ‘hide’ by deploying into a remote system or location within dead-space, it is impossible to hide the station from visual detection when within range.
  • Cumbersome
Despite possessing a large complement of engines and hyperdrive cores allowing it to be mobile, the Akaan’laar is in no way shape or form maneuverable. Shifting position requires hours of adjustment via her maneuvering jets, along with towing from supporting vessels, before even entering lightspeed. Because of this, she is incapable of quickly fleeing the battlefield when under attack. Furthermore, the station is incapable of dodging incoming fire, but is instead solely reliant on either weathering incoming attacks via her shielding and armor, or its array of jamming and interposing countermeasures.
  • Jury-rigged
Prior to its acquisition by the Iron Covenant, Akaan’laar was previously known as ‘The Pirates Haven’ or ‘The Rock’ - a hive of scum and villainy on the fringes of Wild Space. Since its liberation, the station has undergone extensive repairs and renovations to render her capable of serving in her role as a forward operating base. Even still, certain subsystems operate sub-optimally, requiring extensive and exhaustive inspection and maintenance. Some compartments have been semi-permanently sealed due to tunnel collapse or deficient foundational construction - limiting full utilization of the station’s potential.

Decades ago, GDI Incorporated commissioned a mining installation on the fringes of Wild Space - largely to bypass the stringent regulations of civilized space, and operate with minimal supervision other than their own. Eventually, due to piracy, its remote location, and the conflicts of the galaxy, it became financially unsustainable for GDI to continue operations. The station was sold to an independent mining concern, yet soon fell abandoned due to the increasingly lawless period that befell the sector.

After spending many years in silent darkness, the station would again change hands - this time under the control of a pirate lord, who saw it as an ideal shadowport in the region. It would soon become known as ‘The Rock’ among its regular visitors, or more affectionately as ‘The Pirate’s Haven’ to what raiders availed themselves of her comforts. For years to follow, rumour of her existence spread as folk-lore throughout the sector, gaining a level of awe amongst the galaxy’s youth by simple virtue of her presence in stories and sensationalized reports. Among the planetary governments of the sector however, The Pirate’s Haven was a real problem that pushed many to the edge of desperation.

Until the rise of the Iron Covenant.

As the Mandalorians of Kestri arose from the ashes of near-oblivion, the newly forged Mandalorian state set its will upon the stabilization of the surrounding systems, including the capture of The Rock and the dispersal of her shadowy denizens. After a quick yet brutal assault, the station was captured and quickly set to purpose to become something useful to its new owners. After extensive overhauls and renovations, the station was renamed the “Akaan’laar”, or “The Music of War” in Mando’a - a poetic name that communicates the role she serves within the Mythos Fleet.

Rather than returning to the lot of a simple mining installation, or a glorified bawdyhouse for Mandalorians on leave; the Akaan’laar is a true battlestation capable of striking fear into the Iron Covenant’s enemies, and providing crucial resupply to her war machine. With enough fire power to rival a modest fleet, and forges and refineries reminiscent of the industrial heart of the Galaxy; the Haven stands as the foundation upon which any major offensive is launched by the Iron Covenant - all while providing some creature comforts for hardened warriors requiring respite.
