SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Continuing the variable design philosophy of Aurora Industries, the Shiva Ion Cannon is designed with four different firing loadouts that a gunnery crew can switch between with a toggle switch that cycles what parts of the weapon are generating the ionic particles and plasma:
    • The Standard Loadout utilizes negatively charged ionic particles, energized by the power of the Ramuh-II core and channeled through Luxum crystals, and Sianteria plasma to create a stronger than average ion bolt that splatter against enemy shields. This effect creates a larger impact zone for the bolt and puts additional strain on electric and shield systems, similar to the Shiva's predecessor.
    • The Chain Loadout utilizes the same ammunition type as the standard, however additional power is instead shunted from the power core to vastly increase the rate of fire of the ion cannon at the expense of greater recoil.
    • The Ion Pulse Loadout enables plasma rotors within the cannon that creates a circular ionized plasma pulse that acts like those fired from an ion pulse cannon, although on a smaller scale, and giving the weapon an exceedingly high range when in those mode and powerful ability to disrupt starships and electrical systems in the path of the pulse.
    • The Surge Loadout utilizes the same ammunition type as the Standard and Chain Loadouts, however switching to this mode slots in Firkrann crystals instead of the Luxum crystals, giving the ion bolts an additional electrical charge that when it strikes a target can act as a low-level lightning strike, potentially heavily damaging electrical systems and possibly any crew of a ship near the impact area by conducting the charge through the hull.
  • The Shiva Ion Cannon can be configured into any style aesthetic, based on the ship being constructed, and can also be configured into any layout such as single laser cannons, twin cannons, turrets, and so forth.
STRENGTHS
  • The Shiva Ion Cannon can switch between four different firing loadouts at the discretion of the gunnery crew by toggling through available ammunition options.
  • An internal Ramuh-II Power Core allows the Shiva to be independent of a ship's reactor core, allowing gunnery crews or fighter pilots to fire the weapons even if the main reactors are sabotaged or disabled. With the upgrade from the Ramuh-II, power flow is more efficient and enables the necessary power needs for the various fire loadouts of the Shiva.
WEAKNESSES
  • If the preservation field capsule fails or the device is sabotaged within the Ramuh-II core, the crystal within sublimated immediately into its plasma state, reducing the power output of the device by roughly half until a new crystal capsule is installed. This reduces the damage output and rate of fire of all the ion cannon's firing loadouts by one stage.
  • When set to the Ion Pulse Loadout, allied starships need to be careful as the circular spread nature of the pulse is indiscriminate and can short out allies caught in the circumference.
DESCRIPTION

The third weapon system designed by Aurora Industries' Aeon Program, the AI-IC4 "Shiva" Ion Cannon takes some design ideas from previous ion cannons created by the company and expanding upon them. With the power available from the new Ramuh-II power core, the design team was able to shrink down the Shiva from its predecessor and allowing the weapon to be used in more configurations and aesthetic models than before, while its standard loadout maintained the power and splatter ability of the Undin's ion bolts. On top of that, and in mind of their overriding design concepts, the engineers created two additional firing loadouts on top of the returning ion pulse loadout from the Undin.

The first of the new loadouts is the Chain Loadout, designed by Aurora engineers to shunt more power from the internal core to the weapon's firing rate, vastly increasing it although it does give the weapon a higher recoil than usual. The second of the new loadouts is the Surge Loadout that uses Firkrann crystals in lieu of the Luxum crystals now present in the weapon to add additional electrical charge to the ion bolt. This charge, when it impacts against a shield of hull, causes the bolt to strike like low-level bolt of lightning, potentially causing severe disruption to shields and electronics, and even posing possible harm to crew members of the ship near the impact zone as the charge would conduct through the hull.
