Achievement Unlocked: Gun of Permakill

http://starwarsrp.net/topic/31906-the-lonesome-gun/

See that gun? That gun can keep people from handwaving themselves back to life. It's my favorite thing ever. And I'm offering you a chance to claim it. I'll take care of the IC justification.

All you have to do is thoroughly defeat a Master.

Using a semi-automatic blaster pistol.

No tricks, no thrown fights, no convenient application of blasterfire at the end of a big Force/saber/heavy weapons fight, and for the love of all that's holy no godmoding, autohitting or similar bad behavior. A semi-automatic blaster pistol must be your primary weapon for the fight in question. Otherwise, I don't care what you use - Mandalorian armor, a ysalamir, some grenades. Blaster as primary weapon, savvy?

Do that, and you're in the running for ownership of the Gun of Permakill.

[member="Gilamar Skirata"], Why not when someone could get this and then massproduce this through means of many dev threads and outfit an army with them. (not that I'm saying the Judges would allow that right?) Gets better when they would do the same with armor so that it would become an invincible army and start the end of just about every faction here.

Once more I say, I fear the consequences of what will happen to this weapon.

Finally somebody actually dies, not just handwaves themselves back to life.

"You're ruining my creativity! I can kill my character whenever I want to and I can always bring them back! My Sith is a newbie Acolyte, but can bring dead - including himself - back to life! Your argument is invalid!" - some may say.

Most people on the board (especially those that use blasters as their primary) do not have the alchemical ability (literally. We don't have the Force most of the time) to even create one of these blasters. Other than that its just a DC-17 or whatever the model is. So no mass production here :)

Well...this is great! I see absolutely no potential for abuse here! None whatsoever! /sarcasm

*inb4 somebody kills off their own Master character with another one of their characters*

Guys, this really isn't hard. If you don't want your character to die PM your opponent and specify a no-death rule before the fight. Otherwise your character is in a fight, likely with blasters and lightsabers. People die when they get in fights, it happens. All this gun does is stop BS like "Oh, btw, my char knows essence transfer so I get a new body". As a general rule of thumb OOC or IC, if you don't want to die the best thing to do is not get in a gunfight in the first place, or even an environment where you might get jumped.

That being said, for any of you who wish to unlock some achievements I wouldn't mind flexing Valik's muscles a bit. No death, capture/maiming fair game.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Someone could easily come up with an excuse that the blaster somehow overloaded, destroying the crystal and freeing said soul. Not to mention reducing the number of these things in the galaxy by one.

Incentivizing semi-automatic blaster-normal combat versus Force Users? Uhhh... Somebodies been drinking. Lol. I sense that a lot of Force Masters are going to have a vast increase in there 'PCs Killed' bracket this month. Wait...

Suddenly, this is not such a crazy idea. I Like It! :D :p

I'm pretty sure the Force itself ignores the laws of nature...... Just sayin'. :p
At least it's not like the abomination coming back to life is! :p

I know, I'm a bit strange when it comes to talking about the Force and what is logical enough and what isn't. :D

For those who worry, I present this line from our General Rules:
  • You may not kill another character without that character's permission.

And this line from the tech submission in question:
Reminder: Apart from staff ruling, no character can be killed without their writer's consent. Consent is generally given if one's character could not reasonably survive.

I don't recommend destroying someone's personal weapon that way without consent of the owner, especially when the tech sub itself has safeguards against that kind of tomfoolery. Simple solution if you want to avoid the embarrassment of getting nope'd while trying to take back your own death: Don't do things that get you to write yourself as dead if you aren't prepared for that eventuality.

This thing took eight threads and a preparatory tech sub, plus one of the board's two best alchemists. Plus if the tech judges don't like mass-produced DISRUPTORS, you can bet there's never going to be an army carrying these. Fear not. Our system is in balance.
