A Womprat is Not a Pet [Jedi Council | Coruscant | For Funsies]

Coruscant - Jedi Temple - Laboratory 6 - 3AM

"He came from down there," a tiny hand of a tiny young girl pointed down a very large and ominous hallway.

This was not a part of the Temple that Avalore had ever visited, but when her young orphan Padawan friend, Ysan, came to her in the middle of the night with a very urgent matter, well...

...one thing lead to another. Avalore rolled her eyes with a sigh, looking down to the scrawny womprat pup in her arms that had been placed there nearly an hour before by Ysan. It was friendly enough and clearly domesticated, but young and also clearly not where it should be. How the girl came across it?

"I found him in this hallway," Ysan insisted.

"What would a womprat be doing in the Science wing of the temple, Ysan?"

"Maybe one of the Masters keeps him as a pet?" she returned, looking up and hopeful.

Avalore highly doubted that. Womprat and science wing didn't often to hand in hand with the word "pet." Experiment subject was more likely.

"A womprat is not a pet, Ysan. Come on, let's put him back where he belongs," she tugged at the young girl and lead off down the hall, a curious arrangement of seven-month-pregnant Healer, 12 year old Padawan, and juvenile womprat. They searched the many chambers and laboratories before they came upon a door marked "Laboratory 6."

Avalore stood on her tiptoes and peered in through the glass panes at the top. It was dark in the lab and she was very tired, but she thought she saw the glint of metal cages.

"Let's look in here, I think this is it," Avalore pressed her hand onto the security pad and watched, ever hopeful that her status as an Upper Class Healer-in-training would continue to grant her access to odd places in the Temple. After a moment a green light flashed and the doors hissed open.

The womprat in her arms shifted and squirmed rather suddenly and she struggled to keep hold of it.

"Ysan find the light switch - hold still you - it's probably on that control panel over there!"

"Okay," Ysan stepped passed her and she saw her figure move towards the panel where she stood over it for several moments looking pensive. Ysan reached up, hand hovering over the many controls, and plopped her finger down.

A loud clicking sound resulted. Avalore sensed movement.

"Try again."

"Maybe this one," Ysan tried another.

CLICK.

Avalore could have sworn she felt something brush past her leg. She wiggled around, trying to maintain hold of the squirming rodent.

"This one?" Ysan persisted.

CLICK CLACK CLICK CLACK CLACK.

"Oh, this one!"

The lights came on to reveal a lab full of open cages and escaping womprats.

Avalore's jaw dropped, "Oh.... no."

Bucking wild Womprats.

It was on.

They were EVERYWHERE. One could hardly miss them. Needless to say, it was the odd screams and shouts that drew Erinyes towards the Temple laboratories, curiosity in her green eyes as she ambled her way over.

At first she was confused at the sight of a scrambling womprat escaping from the clutches of a youngling. Her pace quickened to lend a hand, until the scratching of claws against the polished floor alerted her that this was more than met the proverbial eye.

The sea of womprats that came pouring out of the laboratory made that perfectly clear.

And the game was set! To catch them all before they scurried away! Or at least ended up making a home in a youngling's bed.

Vulpesen was resting comfortably in his bed when his comlink beeped. Taking a look at the message, Vulepsen couldn't help but heave a sigh. He as a well known beast tamer in the temple and now it seemed his talents were needed. "Ace, come on boy." The ledi lifted himself up and put on his black robes, making it out of his room and towards the disturbance. As he walked, over, he couldn't help but grumble to himself. "Seriously, why do they need me? There are plenty of other beast tamers. Besides, its jsut a few womp-" He opened the door and froze, beholding the spectacle before him. "rats... WHAT DID Y'ALL DO?" They were everywhere? What was the test? See how many we can make before possibly flooding the temple? Growling, Vulpesen lifted up his hands and made his way through the crowd, bonding with rat after rat as much as he could. He would do this professionally, and get out within minutes... but, he was tired and quite frankly, bored. No, he wouldn't become the piper for the mice, instead he had other plans.

Avalore and Ysan were, by the time the two other Jedi arrived, scrambling madly through the lab in poor attempts to catch these squirmy buggers.

Ysan had just managed to grab ahold of the littlest one when another that had been curiously hovering mid-air landed on her head. The girl's eyes bugged - she immediately dropped the little womp and began flailing about, "AVA! AFFA IT'S IN MY HAIR!"

"Ysan? Ysan get a grip it's just a - ewwwwwhuuhuuhuu!" Avalore wriggled away with a shudder as she felt one skitter between her feet.

"WHAT DID Y'ALL DO?!"

She froze mid-grab, holding a womprat by the tail though it reached up with a squeek and bit her on the hand. The Healer gave a yelp and released it, "I'm sorry! We didn't mean to! It was an accident! OH FETH THEY OPENED THE WINDOW-"

Sure enough, a pair of strangely identical womps had climbed the wall to to the window ledge and finagled the latch open. Before Avalore could say a word the pair had taken off, followed by three other identically marked womps.

"I think I'm gonna be sick..." Avalore clasped her wounded hand over her mouth, suddenly feeling nauseous.

The day that the Womprats escaped, Daella happened to be in the Coruscant system. She was staying over at the Coruscant Temple and was walking from the Archives wing when a womprat ran by. It seemed to be a normal specimen. Yet, Daella perked her eyebrows when she heard the womprat screeching in a violent and sporadic manner.

Approaching the womprat, Daella extended her hand as if to grab it. It stopped in place and lashed out at the woman. It scratched her exposed hand and drew some blood. Then, the womprat retreated into a small ventilation shaft that Daella could not go down. Daella looked at her relatively small wound for a moment and gave just a blank stare at it.

Knowing where the likely source of the womprats were, Daella made her way to the science wing's lab where @[member="Avalore Eden"], @[member="Vulpesen"], and @[member="Erinyes Draclau"] were.

Womprats the galaxies worst critter was wandering the halls of the Order. Sopher of course having the worst fear for them ran quickly down the hallways in search of his room. his boots slid across the waxed floors of the temple, nearly causing him to loose balance. He continued to run, one foot in front of the other and every so often he'd jump over a wamprat or so with a scream that would rival any child in the youngling group. Twisting around the corner, he made it close towards the dormitories but realized there was a mountain of the things just blocking his way. He noticed out of the corner of his eye his Master making her way towards the science wing. Logic told him to follow her, but instinct told him to run the other way. This time instinct over came logic.

Sopher turned on his heel and ran past @[member="Daella Apparine"] jumping over the skittering womprats in search of some sort of protection or room where they weren't hiding.

Calmly, Erinyes went drifting towards Avalore, seeing the imbalance of humors within the young Padawan. She seemed a bit oblivious towards the womprats running amuck around her feet, intent only on reaching Avalore.

Gently, her hands went to touch the younger woman's shoulders, as the quiet Shi'ido began to use the Force to help Avalore regain a measure of compsure to sweep away the nausea.

"Just breathe," she said quietly, as a womprat went slinking off between them both

The hands on her shoulders caused Avalore to jump slightly in a knee-jerk reaction to all the creepy-crawlies running amok, but she glanced back to find a Jedi Knight she'd seen before but wasn't personally familiar with. A calming sensation settled in her belly - for that was the epicenter of most all emotion and sensation for the 7 month pregnant Padawan nowadays.

Avalore released a breath of relief, "Thanks! Now if you could just follow me around all day and do that trick every time I'm ready to ralph, that'd be awesome."

She did manage an appreciative smile before turning to look for her wayward youngling friend, "Ysan? Did you catch any?"

"Ava, Ava!" Ysan ran over from a nearby corner, "it bit me," the young girl was close to tears. She held up her left hand and showed the bleeding bite wound.

"Oh," Avalore frowned, "we need to get you to the infirmary...." the Healer looked up at [member="Erinyes Draclau"] with a frown, "I'm so sorry about all this. It was the worst accident ever."
