3:10 to Kathol: TKO Dominion of Zonju V Hex

Since their liberation by the Underground, the worlds in and around the Kathol Outback have banded together in a formal union. What form their government will take is still a matter of debate, but one thing is certain: the councils and leaders of these worlds want safety as much as they want independence. That means the rule of law.

To that end, the Judges have been dispatched to investigate allegations of assault and piracy on the part of certain disreputable spacers. There's something of a conflict of interest here. Where civilized space has the Jedi Knights, the far Outer Rim has the Judges. Like the Wardens of the Sky, the Judges roam the spacelanes and keep a low profile, guarding the frontier against raiders and tyrants. The Judges carry legendary guns alongside their lightsabres, and pilot tramp freighters instead of sleek fighters. You’re more likely to see a Judge in a dusty coat than anything like Jedi robes.

In essence, they're being sent to bring in people just like them, people they've called friends; some are even Judges themselves. Both sides have ties to the Underground, a shared history, even closer bonds, but that doesn't mean the pursuers will let their task slide any more than it means the pursuers will come in easy.

***

Objective A: COWBOYS AND BANDITS. Decide whether you're one of the people who's been accused of crimes and is on the run, or whether you're one of the people who's chasing them. Try and pair up: one or two Judges to one or two fugitives. The bulk of the pursuit will probably take place on speeder bikes, swoops, or even podracers, in the ruin-choked canyons of Zonju V. If one of you catches another one, put them on trial right then and there. Have fun with the details of the charges. And if another one of you wants to hop in as the defense, go right ahead. Frontier law at its finest.

Objective B: FRACTIOUS LOCALS. The King of Zonju is a suspicious old cyborg named Barthemos. Representatives of the Kathol planets and regions are being hosted at Barthemos' palace in the dusty stone city of Zoronhed. Help them persuade the king to join the new union, and quietly investigate potential swoop-gangster connections among his courtiers.

Objective C: GOLD RUSH. Miners have struck aurodium in a hot canyon far south of Zoronhed. Business is booming, mining permits and land are cheap, and corporations are flocking to the area to provide relevant products and services. (5 posts' complete story for a Major Faction contract; 15 posts' complete story for a Major Faction sponsorship.)

Objective D: UNEARTHED ARCANA. The ruins all over Zonju V have been stripped and looted many times over the millennia, but there might still be something worth discovering. Certain similarities have been noted between Zonju architecture and ancient Rakata or Sith architecture. Investigate the possibilities and come to a conclusion - is there a connection?

Objective E: Bring your own objective.

Yula arrived on Zonju 5 using the company's executive Neimoidian Yacht that she piloted using Instinctive Astrogation; unike the frequent Sith Inquisitor fixtures called Cathul and Jessica, she did not have the mathematical knowledge, nor the computational power, to even use Instinctive Astrogation Control. She estimated it would take her two years or so to get up to speed and learn calculus and topology to the level that she can conceivably use for even long-haul flight. But the Sith Inquisitor needed to expand beyond the Pacanth Reach and the Stygian Caldera; this was why she even took the pains of commissioning a new office for Wild Space business. Business may be booming, but she knew it was because land was cheap, and very little red tape compared to First Order space. At this point, she would like to just contact the construction permit division to get the construction permits so that work could begin in earnest. And then she could begin to think of the printing equipment that she would need to purchase and get delivered to Zonju 5. Here Shannon Glabados was the architect of record for this project: the Ziost native was flown in with Yula for the occasion.

"Construction permit division here, what can I do for you today?"

"I am filing a construction permit application here, here are the construction documents"

"Transmit the construction documents now!"

"I'm on it" Shannon told the construction permit clerk.

A bar. Again. Force but Julius needed to start getting out more, or picking different venues to get out to! Regardless, he sat waiting for [member="Jorus Merrill"]. A long battered coat hung off his frame, and the beginnings of a beard could be see gracing his jawline. He had been in the black, on some sort of Jedi business or the other, as Cal would call it. Still, he rubbed at stubble and waited, bloodstripe trousers collecting dust and boots battered from the hyperlanes and who knows what hell-hole of a world he had been on. A big, heavy looking scoped blaster pistol sat one thigh, and a sling holster held a short shotgun or long pistol at the back of the other, a lightsaber on his belt. Armed to the teeth and sipping a good Corellian ale, waiting.

Jorus might not like what he had to say when they finally met, but it would be needed. They had to grow-up some time, and Julius had always been the odd man out, never quite able to both feet down on either side of the orthodoxy-rogue line. Straddled the fence and rode the lightning, as some might say. Or just walked a fine line flirting with both sides but never committing. Either expression, he had found something that suited that fluidity just fine to his mind. It just might make a few old friends balk at him now. But, first thing was first... They needed to talk and get some things out in the open.

With all the corporations floating around in the galaxy and an insatiable demand for a host of products, there is a lot of money to be made and to be spent. So, what do you do with all that money? Where do you get it from? Where do you put it? BlasTech isn't about to stick all of its money in a shoebox and hope something happens. Corporations are all about investment.

When you aren't spending your money, you should be turning it into more money. That's what Aurum-Saccs is for.

Deposit funds here and they can appreciate in value. Loan funds from us and we promise a comparatively low-interest rate!

That was the ad that would be delivered across the Southern Systems Business Bazaar Holonet Shopping network and several other channels. The name was growing in popularity as it was a bank tied to Arceneau Trade. It gave an indication of neutrality, stability, and the highest standard of customer service and quality.

Which was the reason why Noire, a Kiffar Companion, went walking down the ramp of her diplomatic freighter onto the spaceport proper. She had an assistant protocol with her, along with the two standard guards for her protection.

"The quaility of Aurodium is high. Perhaps MaraTibx would be interested in purchasing a few for their own inspection and perhaps purchase mining licenses --"

"That isn't the focus for this trip, but it is something that may be considered." Noire replied, ambling down the ramp. The hydraulics kicked in and it would secure shut behind him.

"We are here to offer our services to see if the government would be interested in creating script that is easily transferable to the rest of the 'verse. Scouting a new location for a Headquarters here is also priority. Any other purchases may come as the need arises."

"You look like you've got something on your shoulders."

The kid plopped himself down on the other side of the table and slurped back about a quarter of his stein. For his part, he wore spacer's coveralls that had been blue once upon a time. Now they were mostly hyperdrive coolant, engine grease, and barbecue sauce. He'd unzipped the coveralls a ways, revealing an equally stained undershirt. As for weapons, he wasn't packing much of anything, just a utility knife and a little repulsor that could throw people back a ways. He'd been carrying gear like that for a long time. Made sense when you couldn't Force-push anything bigger than a dust bunny.

Another long drink, and he set the tankard aside, lacing his fingers over his belly. "You signing on with this Judge thing? This government that's firing up? Could be good for you - set down some roots in a place that's not a graveyard."

POST: 1/5 contract for Haven Shipyards

The willowy and familiar leggy Zeltron would make her appearance on Zonju V, only with a different agenda. Haven Shipyards was seeing an increased popularity in the Wild Regions and the Outer Rim, and with the new push of utilizing not only Tibx but Dark energy to power their ships, the goal was to be able to make it a cheaper and cleaner alternative for the every day man.

They were some ways from getting there, but the combination of utilizing solar technology and alloys would make for the construction of new and enhanced Microparticle Quintessence Accelerator. The primary objective none the less, was the construction of new shipyards.

"So, what do we need?" Aeri asked her companion. "I want local resources. You know the drill. Hire and subcontract local businesses and utilize them for the construction of the shipyards."

Now that would be a sight to see.

The titan hair. The full figure. That familiar sway. One would believe that none other than the Trade Queen herself was leaving a personal yacht and heading towards a local energy development and research facility. The charming smile, the southern drawl. Down to the tiny nuances that would give the image of Danger Arceneau.

However, it wasn't quite the case.

Her name is "Six", a Human Replica Droid created for Mrs. Arceneau to be able to handle business for her while she remained at home tending to her sick daughter. In this instance, Six was looking into investing in a small Energy research business on Zonju V. With the ongoing search for sustainable energy options, MaraTibx wanted to expand on Green Energy. It had taken over the terraforming aspects of PharmaTech and had broadened over into the Energy department.

"Welcome Mrs. Arceneau. It is a pleasure."

Six held out her hand.

"The pleasure is all mine."

"The construction documents appear to be all in order: the construction permit is on its way"

"Now, time to get working and hire the subcontractors: local if possible, using local materials"

"It will be done, Lord Vimanas"

Lord Vimanas? How could Shannon somehow know what Yula's Darth title going to be, when she couldn't publicly use it? Yula was a little uncomfortable, she wanted to get the media deal done in Wild Space, and have a printing press installed on the planet, she wanted to seize the opportunity. But it was genuinely a little much for her. Yula had no clue as to what the local construction landscape was, so she let Shannon do that part of the work; in effect Shannon was frantically looking for a variety of construction contractors, such as plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, roofing, flooring, masonry and so on, so forth. In comparison Alexandria was a lot faster because the location already existed at the onset. On the other hand, it was beyond her own understanding how Glyss and Ringo Vinda were seemingly good locations for a newspaper that had an editorial line that basically says "the Sith factions just go around the galaxy doing evil, and its members live for butchery and explosions".

Astril had heard that there was a Gold Rush going own in this part of the galaxy. She decided it was time to expand Nova Corp deeper into this part of space, where the Kathol Outback controlled a few planets.

She was well aware of the probability of aurodium. Astril knew very well that even a small pocket of aurodium could be worth billions of credits. That was why she had come as early as she could, so that she could claim some of the riches for herself.

"How much builders are we employing. I want that mine to be running immediately." she commanded, not wanting some of the bigger corporations in the galaxy to take over the mine.
"We are doing as much as we can, but with your schedule, we require a few more workers."

"Then you will receive them soon." she said.

She then immediately left, as she had much work to do.

Cla had heard of [member="Noire Vanya Tal"] coming before she had even entered the region, though she was a hollow figure head at Gallofree she still had her connections. If what she heard is true then Aurum would need a way to transport the script and other investments they planned on collecting and as an Arceneau partner it was very probable that they planned to work with local companies to begin service. If she had her way she was going to be that local company. Gallofree ships were now fast, dependable, rugged and most of all indiction resistant, all traits needed in the kathol regions.

So Cla waited for Noire to depart from her vessel, she had signaled her earlier in the week to set up a meeting. One she hoped would be profitable for Gallofree.

well to be honest it was understandable. she was in two worlds SJO and MM. two name two.
admittedly she wanted to stretch her legs and just focus on the actual construction for once with out idiots shooting at her.

Theed Hangar 1/5

One might ask why one of Theed Hangar's Directors General was riding along with a normal delivery of EXPARC survey probes. Or why the ship that delivered those probes to the surface was an H9 patrol corvette outfitted with bleeding-edge sensors. Or why the Director General in question ran Strategic Security Branch. Or why she went for a long walk through the hot canyons while the probes were offloaded for pickup by certain government actors and prospecting firms. One could imagine a good many answers to those questions.

Alone, consulting orbital scan data on an Iron Crown survival pad, Ajira moved carefully through the canyon. Rough gray-brown walls and jutting ruins offered some shelter from the sun. Within a shadow, she found what she was after: a half-buried door, broken. She'd seen this exact door while floating in an ancient pool, in a little-known cave on the planet Widow. Like the underground ruin she was now entering, that pool had been a place of revelations.

Zonyu V was your typical Wild Space world. Sparsely populated, strongly lacking in law and plagued by criminal gangs. Its canyons were vast and choked with ruins some believed might be connected to Sith or Rakatan. Like many planets in this Galaxy, it was a single biome world with one homogenous landscape. In this particular case, it was covered by an endless desert.

It had briefly managed to become a footnote in galactic history when the ambiguously gendered Jedi Knight Jaden Korr travelled to this rock to investigate the Disciples of Ragnos. Now once again galactic entities were taking an interest. In the case of many this was because of gold.

Archangel was one of them. The company's operations would be strictly above board. No Zonyu natives would be disappear and end up becoming more...mechanical. This was a bit unfortunate because it was evident that being transformed into a humanoid replica droid would be a considerable improvement compared to their wretched existence, but regardless.

Mining permits and land were cheap and there were no annoying regulations that so often impeded profitable business. Callisto Scarlett was dispatched to negotiate with the local government. The negotiations wernt smoothly, partly because Archangel was not shy when it came to greasing the minister's paws with bribes that would allow him to continue his extravagant standard of living. Droids had no use for credits or frivolous pursuits, but were alright with exploiting an organic's greed. Furthermore, plans were drawn up for Archangel to do its part to uplift this poor world by setting up a spaceport and a droid factory.

They came to the building in question. With a smile, Noire nodded to the guards.

"Thank you for your assistance, but I will be fine." moving along with her protocol droid, the Aurum Saacs Companion stepped inside. It was a nice set up. This could work, she mused to herself. Moving along, the brunette smiled at the approaching person moving at her direction.

"We have a few key businesses." her assistant began. Aeri gave a nod as the names were dictated. A lot of good names. Some local ones that were moving on up in the area. Even a few from the Kathol Outback.

"Good." the Zeltron moved towards the lift, aiming to get there before the doors slide shut.

"Send offers to them all. Tell them we are building a shipyard. They can provide bids for their products and resources and we will review them." this was great. Working along with the Foundry with Vanir Technology gave Haven Shipyards a great idea on how to move forward.

It was only the beginning.

"I thank you for your cooperation, Trade Minister," Callisto said smoothly, flashing the bureaucrat her most dazzling smile. "Archangel looks forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with the Monarchy of Zonyu."

"As do I. Obey the law, pay the monthly tribute, and I foresee a bright future." A few more meaningless platitudes and pointless pleasantries were exchanged, both signed paperwork that was full of unnecessary legalese.

Archangel had its permit to do business on Zonyu. Of course, the planet was a Wild West like place and thus full of criminals, but they'd bring plenty of battle droids to teach them the error in their ways if they messed with them.

Theed Hangar 2/5

Somewhere up there, Ajira knew, the Theed starship's communications staff was reaching out to prospecting outfits. They'd packed extra EXPARC survey probes on spec, and judging by the scale of the aurodium rush, someone out there would be willing to snap up what the governments and initial contractors hadn't. Theed Hangar might be best known for chrome starfighters and elite small-batch personal transports, but low-key sales like this kept the lights on. Sensor gear, airspeeders, navicomputers: not the most glamorous machinery, but some of the best in the business.

Maneuvering through broken catacombs by a glowrod's light, Ajira did her best to still her mind and focus on the moment. These warrens had been picked clean by generations of scavengers and grave robbers; their broken bones and gutted equipment still lay scattered in the occasional corner. She didn't see any of the usual evidence of Sith heritage, despite reports to the contrary: no spiky hieroglyphs, no claw-marks from tuk'ata or hssiss or the other classic tomb guardians. And, perhaps most importantly, though the Force was strong here, it didn't lean toward the Dark Side.

How far back did some of these ruins go? How old could they possibly be? She'd seen this place in vision from Naboo's sister world, from a cavern pool whose worn steps were perhaps one or two dozen millennia old. Could there have been some kind of a connection between these ruins and the enigmatic Elders, the reptilian humanoids who'd once invaded Naboo? They'd certainly left records of visions, records that matched up with other pre-Republic species. Perhaps this place was one they'd viewed.

"So we will begin with a durasteel base." The doors of the turbolift slid shut and it began to advance up the levels. They were to discuss the rest in a conference room there.

"It is a cheap material, it makes sense." Aeri replied. Which it did. It was commonplace and it allowed the company to focus more funds in other areas.

"We could use shields to be able to use for defenses. " another standard procedure.

"What other sort of defenses?"

Aeri paused, then added, "We can contract with local mercenaries or hire locals for the security. Bring downt he unemployment rate."

Aurum Saacs could offer the Kathol Outback a new method of being able to not only produce their own currency, but be able to back it across the galaxy through all of Arceneau Trade Ports, fuel stations, and even other governments.

The profit would come in regards by being one of the banks able to mint these tokens. The question was just what terms they would desire.

"This is a rather interesting area. Oh please do be careful miss."

Noire could only chuckle at the protocol droid.

Julius watched the man in dirty coveralls and merely smiled. Like a fish to water, Jorus was back in his element, turning a spanner and flying the 'lanes. Just like Julius was one who was most at home with saber or pistol to grip and a battle to be fought. To deny such a thing was to deny oneself. That denial was as dangerous to ones inner-peace as was embracing all emotion without restraint as the Sith did. Extreme dogmatism was really the danger, and that was something the Rim had taught him. But he had intended this conversation to go differently. Jorus, it seemed, was still ever perceptive and blunt in some ways, even if he didn't have all the pieces as of yet.

Nodding, he sighed and furled back his coat, showing a stamped silver badge of plain durasteel pinned to the inside. It was a mark of office and a cunning bit of work, loaded with an encrypted comms and other tech to use in the field. Letting the coat fall back he reached forward and drained the ale and signaled for more as he rested elbows on the table and chin in hands. Bright blue-grey eyes met Jorus' in a regretful stare as he reached back and slid a data-slate forward to the younger-elder, auraesh flashing up as a warrant for arrest. Terroristic activity, sedition, assault, battery, grand theft, and more scrolled past.

"I did find a home, or at least a place to try and land. Corellia was full of ghosts. Like I said, sometimes you save a place only to find it isn't for you. Now, I don't want this to turn into a fight. Odds are, I bring you in, the Council will let you go. Just a show to please the Quekoth. But if you run, i'll have to chase you. And you I both know that could turn real sideways."
