Amnesty for what?
You act as though they are criminals returning to beg forgiveness. What crime are you pardoning them for? Refusing to remain silent? Leaving when conscience would no longer permit obedience? Fighting the enemy you would not?
Where was this generosity when they first raised their voices? Where was this understanding before they walked away? It is remarkably easy to forgive dissent once enough people have dissented that you can no longer afford to lose them.
If the Order wishes to heal its division, then perhaps its leaders should first possess the humility to ask why so many Jedi believed leaving was preferable to remaining.
First you condemned those who called for war against the oppression of the Sith. Then some departed to wage that very war beneath banners of their own. Now those who walked away are offered amnesty, as though your leadership may absolve everyone except itself.
Before offering forgiveness to those who left, has anyone bothered asking whether it is the Order that ought to be asking theirs?
I will not answer to a corrupt Council that watches people put to the blade and worlds razed by our enemies, then calls its inaction wisdom. I will not heed an institution that turns a blind eye to the atrocities of the Sith while permitting them to cavort among you beneath the shelter of diplomacy and restraint.
I will not sit idle while entire peoples are ground beneath conquest, their histories stripped away, their homes remade in the image of those who subjugated them. Genocide and cultural erasure do not become more tolerable because acknowledging them would be politically inconvenient.
If obedience requires me to watch such things happen in silence, then you may keep your obedience.
And if opposing them places me beyond the favor of your Council, then so be it.
