Sorr Kortu

Socially Awkward Smuggler
"It's through Mr. Skul is the reason why Desolation Alley is the most secure Prison in the Galaxy," Nuaid said curtly. "With many prisoners committing heinous crimes in multiple systems, it requires someone who will be.... aggressive with them. You may not know it, but Skul was a Jedi who served in the Ashlan Crusade. If anyone who knows how to properly administer justice, it's him. These are dangerous individuals, and we cannot afford to be soft on them."

"Not from what I've seen," Sorr thought trying to stand straight after making a fool out of himself. There were more prisoners from behind the window being escorted by security. A mixture of humans, Duros, Zabraks, and other species that Sorr was unfamiliar with. All of their eyes fell on Sorr and he could hear the barrage of taunts ranging from "dead meat" or "target practice."

"I am brave," Sorr said to Brinna Dara Brinna Dara though his wavering and cracking voice betrayed the brave demeanor that he tried trot out. "I am focused, let us try not to panic. Okay guys, we CAN NOT panic."

Yet questions lingered on, what was it about this prisoner that they Nuaid was so vague about. Saya Taiyou-Fyre Saya Taiyou-Fyre echoed Sorr's thoughts as well to which Nuaid gave a dismissive wave of his hand. "I'll share that information with Mr Kortu and Miss Dara." Nuaid answered with stern tone. "Once we reach my office and undergo the out-processing, I'll discuss more in the meantime....."

A man approached Nuaid holding a T-21 light repeating blaster in his hands. His dirty blonde hair reflected the lights that were illuminating above the prison and made his black armor shine brightly. "Top of the morning boss!" The man spoke in a jovial voice each word spoken with a soft twang. Sorr guessed that he grew up a farmland somewhere in the Mid rim they tended to sport those accents.

"Ah this is Penn Luthas the second in command of the Prison guards." Nuaid said with a smile on his face.

"And the leader and trainer of these rough and tumble prison guards you see here." Penn said with pride. "They're tough enough to take on an entire army. These prisoners don't stand a chance."

"Indeed," Nuaid chimed in. "Now that we're in my office, why don't you..... continue the tour with the rest of Mr Kortu's crew while I finalize the paperwork with him and Miss Dara."

Penn's blue eyes studied Sara, Porro, and Neli his thin lips strengthened, and his eyebrows crinkled into a frown as if he was deep in thought. Sorr's heart thumped. The atmosphere was starting to get a little tense, what were these guys up to? "I don't like it as well Saya," Sorr whispered back side stepping from Brinna's side. "But we're in their territory now, Brinna and I will follow the Warden and you just go with Penn with the tour. Anything goes wrong, run to the Purr and Brinna and I will meet you there."

"All right then," Penn said with a smile. "Why don't you lovely ladies...... and the gentlemen follow me. We got a lot to see."

"Mr Kortu, Miss Dara," Nuaid gave a nod. "We're at my office, please follow me."

"Let's go Brinna," Sorr gulped gripping her arm. "I don't want to go to jail," he whispered his voice squeaking. "The people here will kill me!"

Brinna tried to assure Sorr. An appreciated action cause Neli wasn't sure she was helping any. She considered trying by means of the force but if he did realize she was doing it she wasn't quite sure he'd appreciate that. She also hummed an agreement at Porro's comment. "Sullcrusher" was indeed a useful person, but put the barbarian in charge rather than the officer and violence is a natural consequence. Making her also question the reason for if there weren't so many breakouts, and if it was really just that skullcrusher really wanted them to try.

Saya began to push the issue of lack of knowledge as well, it was a reasonable concern. Things were starting to stack, a lot. While she asked, Neli began to probe. Seeking out the feelings and thoughts (to a lesser degree) of Nuaid. Trying to feel for his reaction, deception, fear, anger, what? What could she find? Some hid things better than others, but they could only hide them so deep. Thoughts were never so easy, but feelings could be found eventually. Plus with Saya doing this asking Neli could devote far more attention to testing the waters.

Nuaid of course still tried to assure him of the mans capabilities, even claiming he was once a jedi. A questionable statement. She raised a brow at Sorr's choice of wording, "We?" she repeated just the part in question. Nuaid decided still not to answer their questions only delay. And on came a new man.

Neli corrected him as he said they were in their territory,
"If we're concerned. We leave. If they're going to do something questionable, it's thrown off. If they aren't, they should have prepared for us better and actually tried to convince us to stay." she said quietly. Then went straight to simplicity, Neli looked Nauid straight in the eyes and smiled, "Anything we should be concerned about?" she fueled the question intensely with the force, both putting an incredible amount of pressure to tell the truth as well as reaching hard for whether or not she could feel it. There was no need for a hand wave, she was quite used to using the technique by sound, not by gesture.

A strong human mind could resist a mind trick, one trained the right way maybe could disguise their real thoughts and feelings. But managing to get those deceits up while holding back a sudden urge to answer truthfully anyway was not something so easy.

Of course, she was willing to wait it out and see. But at the same time, if they were intending something. She was just as eager to see it.

The back and forth continued and Brinna was quite frankly getting bored with all the shenanigans of the Warden. It was like he was teasing the crew. Brinna as usual just wanted to get things going. The others pointed at flaws in the Warden’s organization, or continued to prod for information that the Warden seemed determined to keep close to the vest. Her crewmates weren’t wrong of course. And if Brinna had known how awkward the prison guards would treat them and how sneaky the Warden would be with the truth she probably would have suggested to Sorr that they take a different job, no matter how many credits were involved. But now they were here and it was too late to turn back. No matter her level of annoyance Brinna hoped that the Warden would just deliver the package already and they could be on their way.

Porro took his turn trying to point out things to the Warden about the shark man. That just got more blowhard responses of how the prison was the best in the galaxy. That made Brinna sigh. Sorr stressed how the crew could not panic which of course made Brinna grin from ear to ear. The Captain was the first one to panic and when Neli subtly voiced that fact Brinna couldn’t help but laugh. But that quickly changed as Saya pressed for more information and the Warden deflected again. “Wait just me and the captain? Why?”

Before the question could be answered a new guard appeared. This one was a little less threatening than Mr. Skul, but Brinna wasn’t about to let her guard down. Nuaid sang the man’s praises and stated again how the prisoners would pose no threat to his security. Brinna rolled her eyes and waited for the next shoe to drop. Why was Mr. Luthas here? “Hey hold up, Warden,” Brinna spoke up when Nuaid said that she and Sorr should remain while the others continue a tour.

“There’s no need to separate us. The crew has just as much invested in this as the captain and I,” Brinna stated looking around at the rest. “Between trying to take our weapons and being very cagey about what you’re asking us to be doing I’m not sure everyone is dying to see the rest of your prison. Why don’t you just deliver the prisoner and state the drop location and let us be on our way?”

Before Brinna’s fears could be responded to Sorr asked her to come along into the office with the Warden. She glanced around to the others with a frown on her lips and gave a bit of a shrug. She mouthed the words “Be careful,” silently. She wasn’t sure that Porro would get it as she did her best to hide it from Penn. Saya and Neli with the Force as their guide would no what Brinna had done, though she doubted that her words were needed.

Pooro was not surprised in the least that the Warden didn’t share his ideals on the attributes that made the best security head. Porro knew he didn’t want to know all the things that the prison had to deal with in order to remain secure, but the head of any department should be a level head, and former Jedi or not, Mr Skul didn’t seem like he was able to do that. Arguing or being stubborn didn’t seem to get very far with the Warden, so Porro let the subject drop.

Even more disappointing as the Warden’s clutching to his claims of ultimate security despite obvious flaws was the fact that Nuaid also refused to budge on providing even basic information on the job they were here to perform. Saya took a turn at trying to get something. Her frustration was obvious and understandable, but again it was rebuffed. It seemed that the Warden wanted to remain silent until reaching his office. Porro looked around at all the corners and tried his best to figure out a viable reason to wait. Cameras and/or listen devices in the more “public” portions of the prison? It would make sense.

Captain Sorr pleaded to stay calm. Neli’s sarcasm and Brinna’s laugh were a welcome sign of normalcy within the crew. It appeared that the statement was mostly unneeded, except for Sorr himself. Then came the more surprising statement that Nuaid intended to give the information to the Captain and Brinna only. What they frack were the rest of them chopped liver? Brinna argued on the rest of the crew’s behalf, but the argument was interrupted by the arrival of another guard. This one seemed better than Mr. Skul at least, but his happy tone and even his name…Penn Luthas, seemed to irk Porro right away.

The “tour” seemed to come as a shock to Penn as well which was a little comforting. That would likely mean that nothing was planned, but Penn might be just as disposable as the crew was to the Warden. Porro didn’t let his guard down in the least, but at least he was good at deflecting to make his discomfort seem less or at least slightly comical.

”Can’t say I like it, but your in charge Captain,” Porro said, shooting a look at Penn and then Neli and Saya. He missed the subtle message from Brinna as he stepped up towards the guardsman. ”The girls are with me, so don’t get any funny ideas Penn…” Porro called out in a tone that made it hard to determine if he was trying to be flirty with the girls or threatening to the guard.

”Never thought I’d see the inside of a prison before,” Porro followed the statement with a grin on his face. ”Do we get signs that say just visiting or something? I don’t want to have to trust a guard’s judgment if we get separated from Penn here.”

The Warden had clearly never heard the words 'employee confidence' before in his life, because Saya was more than ready to forget about this gig and burn fuel right into the atmosphere. It appeared her companions in crewmates though had a higher tolerance for bullshit than she did (impressive, considering she grew up with three other siblings) and were willing to, though begrudgingly, wait and see what was about to happen.

"If we even get back to the ship," Saya hissed back to Sorr. Saya had seen more prisons than she could count. Her father had delivered countless criminals to them, preferring to get his hands dirty than to just let the other Marshals do the job for them, and she knew what proper protocol looked like. Everything about this whole affair screamed 'ITS A TRAP' to Saya. And if anyone messed with her ship (Sorry Sorr) she was gonna bring this whole prison down on their heads.

Saya stared daggers into the Warden's back, only for them to intercepted by an accented man in body armor. Just behind him though, Saya could still see Brina mouth the words 'be careful' to them, and Saya nodded, a silent 'you too.' Gods only knew how much help Sorr would be to Brina in his current state.

Attention back on Guard's second, Saya would've scoffed at Porro for saying she and Neli were 'with him', but given the creeping feeling that something very, very bad was about to happen, she'd let the man's tongue slip. Just this one time. "Lead on, Penn," Saya said shortly in an effort to keep her suspicions and mistrust from coloring her words.

Sorr was already losing the crew like him, they were anxious about the whole "job." Reality started to set in for Sorr that they were being led into a trap. "And it'll be all my fault," Sorr thought. "I should've told Brinna to reject the contract but the money..... it was too good."

Greed for the lack of the better word snagged Sorr to the point where he willingly led his crew to their possible demise. A small part of Sorr hoped that he was being paranoid, but his intuition was always right on the money. "I'm sure these pretty girls are taken," Penn chuckled. "I'm a married though. To my High School sweetheart for almost 20 years now."

Penn smirked. "Don't worry Porro," he said. "I'm ain't going to intrude on your little escapade."

Sorr frowned at Nuaid as the door automatically shut behind he and Brinna Dara Brinna Dara . Sorr's already beating heart was working into overdrive and his palms were sweating. The Warden continued to walk towards what appears to be a large, empty room. "Wait a minute?!" Sorr voice rose and he looked around in a panic. "Is this your office?! It seems a little..... draft."

Nuaid didn't answer but instead his entire body flickered rapidly before fading away a small ball fell and bounced on the floor. A holoprojector. Sorr immediately drew his Blaster Pistol out, but multiple guards filed in from the sliding door ahead of he and Brinna. About 8 guards each armed with a Blaster Rifle with laser dots aimed all over their bodies. "Mister Kortu and Miss Dara," Nuaid's voice sounded over the intercom. "You and your crew are under arrest."

"Wait?!" Sorr shouted panicking at the situation. "Under what charge?!"

"For a slew of crimes against society." Nuaid said. "We have received credible information regarding you committing mass atrocities on an uncharted planet. An Alliance outpost has been slaughter, and the planet has been doomed to an ecological disaster. It was because of your..... Smuggler's greed."

"T-that's not true!" Sorr shouted. "We haven't been out in the Unknown Regions!"

"Lay down your arms and surrender to the guards," Nuaid said. "I hate to inform your father that you died disobeying a direct command."

Meanwhile 10 guards immediately surrounded Porro, Neli, and Saya with Penn raising his rifle. "Yeah you already knew it was trap," Penn said shrugging. "Now kids we don't want any hassles, just put down your weapons and put your hands in the air."

The issues with the warden and his refusal to properly answer questions were continuing to progress, yet, for some reason, they split up anyway. Well, this was sure to be an adventure one way or another. She gave Brinna Dara Brinna Dara a subtle nod in her words of warning. And Porro Tanau Porro Tanau a raised brow and a smirk on his comment, though given the present threat level, didn't comment just yet. At this point, not a single person on the crew seemed to believe this was proper procedure. So, what was the wait? Shoot someone already. She held her tongue on that matter, but it was definitely on her mind.

Penn's answer was not really helping the situation though. And, of course, Neli sensed the shift as Sorr and Dara had arms drawn on them, she didn't need to see that much. Or heat it. She began to chuckle, and her eyes locked with Penn, "Take them, and maybe you can find out how long a human can last without lungs." the threat was amplified by an incredible amount of energy imbuing the wards meant to inspire not just fear, but specifically the flight response to as almost an intense degree as she was capable of. She had to be particular. Of course it was theoretically possible one of the others could try and smooth things over, but at this moment, Neli believed their best option, was take on the enemy while they were still armed. Sure, later, she could have tried something. Assuming they weren't especially creative about how they contained her. Or just killed her on the spot. That was just her though, the others might have their own ways. Brinna she'd seen as disturbingly efficient when unarmed, and Saya, while Neli didn't know her well, was a Zeltron. So many of Neli's advantages she used in the force, were just as inherent in the whole species. If typically to a lesser degree of amplitude and variety.

Her eyes twitched around the arm, as did her senses in the force. She could feel her saber inside her pouch, her blaster ready, feel the sensations of the guards, of the prisoners. Organic enemies were the best kinds. They could feel fear, they could feel joy, they could feel bravery at the wrong moments. More creative than droids, but just as fragile, and with a added weakpoints to exploit.

The only reason she hadn't already struck out, was because she wasn't sure her allies wanted to end this violently. If they preferred to surrender, she wasn't going to stop them or force their hand. Though, escaping this alone, would hardly be an ideal situation.

Sorr was still worried. It was written all over his face. Brinna’s own paranoia was rising, but she had run checks on the job. It all seemed to check out. The Warden, the prison they both had extensive histories. Brinna had even found instances of other outsourced prisoner transfers. The others didn’t know all the work that Brinna had put into this, she understood their trepidation. But over all the young woman was still confident in the payday when the end of the day came.

Separating the crew put another rise on Brinna’s worry, but maybe it was just the Warden exercising extreme caution. Maybe he wasn’t just pumping hot air when he was bragging about their security records. Still, a prison tour seemed a bit unnecessary. The better action would have been to request only she and Sorr enter the prison to begin with. At least Brinna was confident that the others were capable of holding their own should something actually be off about the deal. Time would tell. Now it seemed they had arrived at their destination and needed to deal with the Warden.

Brinna didn’t panic when the door shut behind them. This was an exercise in secrecy after all an open door would only mean their business would be available to any passerby. At further investigation of the room they had been brought to, Brinna’s anxiety level rose. She looked over to Sorr who unsurprisingly looked a moment away from going into convulsions. Sorr started to question things, but Brinna knew they weren’t going to like the answers. And the Warden didn’t disappoint, revealing that he had been there the whole time merely as a hologram.

They were under arrest? Why go to the trouble of separating them? Wouldn’t keeping them contained be easier if they were all led to the same room? Sorr asked for the charges to be named, but it didn’t really matter to Brinna. They were false no matter what was being stated. Slaughtered Alliance outpost? Brinna gave a huff of derision. Even with all her bravado, Brinna couldn’t be paid enough to take on an Alliance outpost with just their crew. Someone was out to get them. Because of who Sorr’s family was maybe? Sorr protested after the “charges” were set out for them. Brinna didn’t bother wasting her breath.

“Again with the give up your weapons thing,” Brinna huffed in an annoyed and sarcastic tone. She knew that technology made hand held weapons king in most times, but she was always amazed that someone thought they could remove the threat she was by taking away a blaster or a blade.

Brinna looked to Sorr and sighed. “I’m ready to fight,” she whispered with confidence. “There’s only eight of them. I like the odds. But if you want to surrender I’m not going to put you in danger.”

Saya’s irritation with the whole situation would have been obvious to anyone paying attention. The fact that she was a Force-Using Zeltron made Porro’s irritation level rise as well. The usually happy go lucky man had to make a conscious effort to stop the compulsion to just pull out his blasters and start firing, and that was before the trap had been sprung. Saya ultimately gave in and let Penn lead on and it seemed the crew was now separated.

Penn admitted to being married. That didn’t tend to stop most men that Porro knew, but since Porro had no real claim on either Saya or Neli he let it die there. Knowing that the likelihood of one of the girls socking him in the arm for hinting at any more serious relationship than actually existed. Then Porro sensed Neli tense a bit, he shook his head. Whatever thing they had all been waiting to happen, was about to happen. Having a couple Forcies on his side to give him advanced notice was definitely a good thing. As Penn told them to lay down arms, Porro had already drawn both pistols. ”Oh no. We already played the surrender your weapons game at the gate. I tried to play along, but these two didn’t like the game much.”

He looked around and smirked. Neli’s response was a little more forceful and gave Porro even more confidence in their situation despite being outnumbered and on foreign turf. Porro was a bit surprised that Neli stopped at the threat, but he supposed that she didn’t want to force Porro and Saya to follow her into battle. Porro felt pretty good that Saya wasn’t the type to just give up. ”Eleven on three. I don’t like your odds Penn. You can put down your weapons if you like and we’ll go find our friends and leave.” He nodded to Neli and Saya, his trigger fingers twitching as he waited to see how the guards would react.

No sooner had the door slid shut behind Sorr and Brinna had the armed guards come out and levelled their weapons at the three remaining crewmembers. Porro was fast on the draw, a pair of blasters aimed at guards on either side of them. Neli gave no illusions about what would happen if someone tried to take her weapons. Saya fumed.

Penn sat there, arms crossed with a smug look on his face. Oh the three crew members were beat. Eleven on three, odds certainly seemed to be in the guardsmen's favor, despite Porro's cockiness. But, maybe he wasn't wrong.

Slowly, a quiet whining began to build in the air. One. Two. Three. A chorus of nails on blackboards. Three guards, the ones at the groups six, two and eleven o'clocks, all dropped their attention from the group towards their blaster rifles as the whining continued to build.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One by one all three blasters erupted, exploding and shelling their plastoid casing into the air, and the faces of the guards, left alive but very much in pain. Eight on three.

The crew kept insisting that Sorr was blessed with Smuggler's luck but situations like this was what made Sorr doubt their assessment. The Guards raised their weapons which caused Sorr's heart to thump to loud that it sent a chain reaction to his brain to now it feels like it's pulsating. Great..... Sorr can hardly breathe and now he has a small headache. "I don't want to go to jail, I don't want to go to jail....." Sorr muttered to himself. But realistically, what can Sorr do? They were outnumbered and on the Warden's home turf, Sorr essentially walked his crew into a trap.

"I deserve everything in that jail cell," Sorr thought miserably. "Just arrest me, Warden!" Sorr said. "Let my crew go! I'll take the blame for.... whatever I did! First! Just let me get my phone call so I can call my lawyer assuming my family doesn't hate me. And just please don't place me in the general population!"

Sorr went from denial to downright bargaining., they had no chance. All Sorr could hope was that his crew could forgive him for leading them into trouble and not get sent to get beat up by prisoners for being so weak. "I'm sorry Brinna," Sorr said. "But we have-"

BANG! BANG BANG!

Sorr jumped as he heard firing from behind. "Oh no....." Sorr's heart sank, did the prison guards..... execute his friends?

"What the frack?!" Penn shouted he and his men firing back at Saya Taiyou-Fyre Saya Taiyou-Fyre and Porro Tanau Porro Tanau . "Who the hell gave them permission to allow them weapons beyond the entry point! Get to cover! Seal all exits!"

Sorr gave a sigh of relief but there was another problem, negotiations were officially off the table which meant.....

"I guess we do this the hard way," Sorr whispered to Brinna while the guards looking on edge pointed their blaster rifles at the two of them. "Don't move!" One of them shouted. "Brears! Contact the Lieutenant! What's going on?!"

Sorr gulped as he continued to hear blaster fire from behind. As much as he didn't want to cause a ruckus, his friends were danger. In a split second, Sorr unholstered his Blaster Pistol and in four quick shots, inflicted large, smoking holes in four guards heads they crumpled to the floor simultaneously motionless. "HEY!" The guard shouted before Sorr, pulled out a flash bang and threw it at the remaining four guards closing his eyes in the process. "NOW!" Sorr shouted at Brinna as the Flashbang exploded in a bright light stunning the guards.

"ACTIVATE SYSTEMS!" Kuaid's voice shouted through the intercom. A rayshield appeared in front of the "office" while access to the Tiaza's Purr was cut off by a large blast door. "All forces! Take care of the targets, lethal force is authorized but don't kill Kortu! He will fetch a great price for his family!"

Porro Tanau Porro Tanau confirmed that they were going the resistance route at minimum, but it wasn't either him nor Neli that set things flying. Saya Taiyou-Fyre Saya Taiyou-Fyre did that. Neli didn't hesitate to follow that up with a wide-spread force push in a near 160 degree arc to knock a number of them off their feet, intending to give enough time for Porro and Saya to take the opportunity on the remaining still standing.

Penn started freaking out. But Neli didn't care much to leave them with a man in charge. Their giant of a man from earlier was far too excitable to permit the rest of his people any opportunity of advantage. She leapt through the air, saber in one hand, and sib-14-stun-ion-pistol in the other as she shoved her metal rebreather over her mouth, just in case. She fired one stun bolt at the captain, and two at one of the standing guards. And then she struck. She was moving too fast to consider whether or not the stun bolt hit the man, nor if it would work at all. It worked against most people even in armor though. But even if it didn't, that thin blue blade would be aimed to pierce and slice inside his chest. To severe the lungs from the trachea. "Yield." her voice came out it was from a gust of wind through the door, imbued with the force to try and scare the guards into dropping their weapons. Hopefully. She wasn't the most intimidating by looks alone, it was why she preferred to use it before she was visible. Or in less aggressive means. But, she'd use it where she could. And see what stuck.

Killing wasn't always the preferred option, but when they were the ones under attack. And she did consider this an attack. She felt it was justified. And she also felt just a bit excited. This was, after-all, partly why she was in this crew. Killing wasn't that great, but a fight was something you could enjoy if the circumstances were right.

Brinna’s eagerness to show the prison guards how little their training would mean in a fight with her was immediately countered by Sorr being Sorr. First he started a small chant as if he were some powerful Jedi that could will his thoughts into existence. When that obviously wasn’t going to work Sorr moved to negotiation. Brinna knew that wasn’t likely to work. They were five misfit smugglers in a prison of who knew how many guards. No matter how confident Brinna was in her own prowess and that of her comrades, the Warden had to be equally confident in his sheer number advantage. “Pretty sure the Warden is feeling good about his chances of taking us whether we fight or not,” Brinna spoke with a smile getting into a ready defensive position.

Sorr apologized, which Brinna would have brushed off if she had the chance. And then was about to state the obvious that they were pushed into a corner they would need to fight out of. That statement couldn’t even be finished before explosions from where the rest of the crew were. Brinna’s smirk widened and she prepared to strike. As usual Sorr thought the worst had happened. Brinna needed to remind herself to teach Sorr to have some faith in his crew’s abilities and not assume that blaster fire meant something bad was happening for them.

As much as Sorr’s first instinct was to be timid and talk things through, when he finally decided to get into a fight his quick draw and thinking reminded Brinna why she continued to stay on his side. Quickly about half the guards were down. Brinna cracked her knuckles and smiled at the two right in front of her, when Sorr decided he would help her out a bit and tossed the flashbang. Brinna closed her eyes tightly and concentrated like she imagined a Jedi would as they called upon the calm of the Force. When she heard the bang she opened her eyes and was quickly in motion.

Her ears were ringing, but that would wear off and she didn’t need to hear for the moment. She could see and that was more than her opponents could say. Rushing forward she hooked a leg behind the knees of one guard and reached up to clasp her hands around his chin from behind his back. Kicking backwards at the same time as she pulled forward she sent the guard head first into the durasteel wall behind him. She couldn’t hear the crunch of his skull caving in, but she knew he wasn’t getting up.

She then leaped into the air, spinning towards a second opponent. Her forearm came down on the junction of the man’s neck and shoulder. That alone nearly put the guard down, but as soon as Brinna’s light feet hit the ground she was into a swirling dervish of a roundhouse kick that connected with the man’s temple. This one she wasn’t as confident about him being reduced to a vegetable at best like his partner, but she knew that she could move on to the next guard standing in their way. First her eyes locked with Sorr and she gave a nod. She did not hear the voice of the Warden, the rayshield activating or the blast doors closing to confine them to the room. That would be a problem for when all the guards were disabled.

Everything stood still for a moment. Neli’s threat and Porro’s draw didn’t change anything. The guards stood steadfast and confident. Penn didn’t even go to the trouble of training his weapon the crew, he had ten other blasters surrounding them it wasn’t like it was that surprising of a move. Porro’s fingers were still waiting for his comrades or one of the guards to make the first move. He wondered how well the guards were really trained. They must have had some discipline in them not to just cradle down at Neli’s threat, but were they really prepared for what three skilled and armed opponents would be able to do?

As the staredown continued a sound started to break the silence. Porro wasn’t sure what it was, but he guessed it wasn’t part of the guards’ apprehension plan. So that was a good thing. He cringed as the whine turned into an even more irritating sound, but he managed to keep his focus and still his now twitching fingers. Three explosions replaced the sound with a ringing in Porro’s ears. Three guards hit the ground. Neli was quick to react with a Force push sending still more guards off balance. ”Man I love working with Force-users,” Porro chuckled as he started to open fire and dodge incoming shots from the remaining guards.

Porro looked over to where Neli had been only to see her soaring through the air at Penn firing her own blaster in the process. Porro couldn’t bring himself to count the number of guards still standing from the trio’s quick reactions to their attempted capture, but he held his fire for a moment when he heard Neli call for the guards to yield. Like Neli, Porro wasn’t a stone cold killer, and his blasters were usually set to stun by default meaning that any guards he had hit were still most likely alive. But if the guards didn’t realize it was in their best interest, or reinforcements came, Porro wouldn’t think twice about going full power and taking a life to save his own, or one of the other crew members.

The malfunctioning blasters had started off the fight with one hell of a bang. The crew was faster to react than any of the guards, thankfully. Even with three down, being caught in an eight on three crossfire would have left the three smugglers as little more than smoking pin cushions. But the quick movements of Neli and Porro helped even the odds as Saya thrust both her hands down towards the floor.

Two of the guards behind them suddenly found the barrels of their blasters suddenly yanked to the floor, jerking them both forward as Saya leapt backwards, flipping through the air. Saya landed, crouching low as she she span on her heel with a leg extended. The guard on her left suddenly found himself flat on his back with the wind knocked out of him while the other felt the barrel of Saya's slugthrower pressed to his temple. Unlike her compatriots, she didn't hold back in a fight. Years of war, genocide, death had hardened her father into something merciless. And he'd taught his children, if their lives were on the line, they couldn't afford mercy either.

Saya hated killing with all her heart, but to protect herself, her family, and her friends. "Bang." The guard flinched at the whispered word. She would kill without hesitation. There would always be time for guilt and regret later.
