Balun hadn't misunderstood the fact that his Brother had been speaking on his personal experience regarding his relationship, or lack thereof, with his Mother, but rather that he looked to
Makai Dashiell
as someone more emotionally secure compared to Balun himself. There was a high likelihood that this was more a case of Balun being too critical of himself, sizing himself up against others, such as Makai and their Father,
Judah Dashiell
, as he often did with the two closest male role models in his life. Still, this particular subject was also something that Makai and Balun had never discussed before, and so Bale didn't quite know how to go about approaching it.
"Is that something that you did? Hired an investigator?" Balun asked, glancing back at his brother, following the suggestion. The idea of learning who his Mother was, where she was...-That was like opening Pandora's box. Once that door was open, it couldn't be closed again. It was a daunting prospect, and he wasn't sure he wanted to know. This was a Woman who had dropped him on the doorstep of the Jedi and ditched him. As a youngling, he had yearned for her love most of his childhood life, but once maturity hit, so did resentment begin to follow, as did the realisation that perhaps he was better off without someone who had been willing to do that to a helpless infant.
"Joiol was a beautiful choice", Balun agreed, smiling as he glanced back at the children. Kellan and Pheobe continued to walk a little while the Crystalflies fluttered around them;
"I'd always thought that Dad picked it out for us, I didn't realise you chose the spot", he chuckled, feeling somehow silly for making the mistake. However, it was insignificant in the broader context, he knew. Joiol always struck Balun as the World representing the heart of the Dashiells. It was where the Dashiell Residence was located when he came into the family, and where he met the wider family members as a whole. Judah had introduced him to the rest of the family over dinner, while Makai had already met Balun during a one-on-one at one of his brothers' mining facilities. Balun had the Cottage at the back of the Family Grounds. Still, it was difficult to view the property as solely his, as opposed to a shared, family-centric home.
"Jhaessa Prime still has a long way to go...-The Capital City, Meridian, is just starting to take shape, but it's not nearly complete. Let alone other settlements planned out," Balun explained, finishing the remark with a deep sigh as they followed their kids with a gradual pace, keeping a watchful distance as they continued to talk together. He was genuinely enjoying this chance to spend time with Makai, some real quality one-on-one time without work or anything else getting in the way and knowing that his Son was having fun with Pheobe without there being any interruptions or issues; The day was turning out beautifully.
"Like I said, though, I'd love to get you there. Meridian is governed largely by corporate influence, and I've placed Dashiell Incorporated at the height of it all. Don't worry, Dad's made sure it's all words and there's no responsibility on you or him. You'd have plenty of privileges when you did decide to visit, naturally. There's premium corporate and industrial real estate waiting to be grabbed up," Balun explained, his words coming enthusiastically as he once again hinted at the idea of getting Makai to visit the project world that was Balun's life's vision these days.
As for Judah and the possibility that their father might not be so bothered by Balun having someone else at the helm of Dashiell Retrofit™ for a time, Bale was visibly relieved to hear it. He was now in a position of leadership over a new developing Planet. However, it had only one settlement so far, and it was being policed largely by droids with a minimal sentient population. The position was still rather taxing, with all the administrative duties required to oversee the timely process.
Auren Vellisar
had also played a significant role in this, in no small part, by delegating with The High Republic, handing over the political aspect along with his team, and it was working. Somehow, it was working.
