SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Mode Change: Building off the X-wings inherent design, Si Tech made further distinctions between the two modes of flight.
    • Straight Flight Mode: The Nightfury's standard mode for flight, it's focus is defense and handling. Power is allocated to the shields, with minimal weapon systems outside of it's Chainlaser and munition hardpoints. Meant for Landing, Close Air Support, and Basic Flight.
    • Attack Mode: With the wings deployed, the power is allocated to the weapons and engines, designed to allow pilots to dogfight with maximum efficiency. While it sacrifices portions of power to the shields, it makes up for it in making the fighter an acrobat in the sky. Meant for Dogfighting.
  • Silent Flier: The Nightfury's primary function is stealth. A ship designed to slip into a system, tail convoys or scan entire systems unnoticed, while also negating enemy stealth ships without them ever knowing it was there.
STRENGTHS
  • Fast as Fark: The Nightfury is designed off the back of X-wings of the past, originally built off the LionX's design. Further Modified by Jonyna's own engineers at Si Tech, the Nightfury is designed to go at blinding speeds, and be able to maneuver in ways that would rip apart a normal starfighter.
  • Pew Pew: While it's S-foils are open, the Nightfury lives up to it's name, capable of blasting any normal starfighter out of the sky with it's quad laser cannons, as well as it's nose mounted chain laser. The laser cannons are capable of being converted into several modes for whatever the situation calls for. On top of that, when the S-foils are closed, the LionX is still capable of firing it's twin nose-mounted chainlasers, as well as firing munitions from it's twin mass drivers in the nose.
  • Living Space: The Nightfury is a strange middle ground between Starfighter, and Corvette. Behind it's large cockpit, a living area large enough for one to live out of, and three to rest in while in transit. While the Nightfury is by no means a transport, it makes for a decent ship for lone smugglers or rebels to live out of if they don't mind a rather quaint living area.
WEAKNESSES
  • Large and In Charge: The Downside of the Nightfury's many functions was a necessatation of size. The Nightfury is easily mistaken for a bomber, and while it's squadron size allows it to work in trios, it's a large target if you have the right tech to actually pin it down.
  • S-Foils: An inherent flaw of the X-wing design, the S-foils can take a second or two to unfurl to switch to attack mode. While it does have armaments in it's default mode, they are not as well equipped for dogfighting.
  • Trade Off: While in it's default mode, it's shields are high powered, designed to stave off sneak attacks or ground fire. While in attack mode, the power of the shields are shifted to it's armaments and engines, making the Nightfury a glass cannon.
DESCRIPTION
With The Imperial Confederation ramping up it's protection of Wild Space Hyperlanes, the WSR was in need of a scout craft that could shadow imperial convoys before they are attacked. A ship that would be small enough for it to slip in and out of systems unnoticed, while being large enough for the sensor systems required to keep track of heavy convoys, or Imperial Systems.

The result, was the Nightfury, an X-wing design large enough to be mistaken for a light corvette if one didn't know any better. Filled to the brim with heavy sensors that would normally require a ship twice it's size, as well as stealth systems that allow it to hide far enough away from a convoy or imperial planet that short range sensors won't be able to pick it up, while long range sensors will struggle to find it at all.

Operating in trios, the Nightfury also doubles as a long range starfighter, capable of acting as escort for bombers, as well as a personizable living space for any rebels who prefer a starfighter to a proper corvette.
