What possible reason are they able to partake/mobilize? I dunno! Force visions? Spies? Leaked intelligence? Traitors within the Galactic Empire? Up to you guys and your factions to decide. I'm merely working with the narrative provided to us by the GE.

Atrisia has an extensive network of defenses that likely saw the DS coming before it arrived, as well. Forces from within the planet may have put out an SOS, too.

EDIT: Nothing site-wise prevents anyone from joining, either. So, get creative.

In OOC terms, this has never stopped any faction from participating in an Annihilation before; fleets just show up to where the fight is. Six factions descended on Csilla to try to prevent its annihilation even though none of them had territory that contained it.

In IC terms, while the precise timing and method of the attack may be a surprise, the fact that the Empire would attack at Atrisia doesn't need to be. Spies watching troop movements, leaked intelligence, Force visions, any of these could be plausible explanations for anticipating where the Empire will strike and moving to intercept. Since the ritual aboard the Death Star is affecting TIC and TSO territory, as outlined in the opening post, tracing the gatherings of Force energy back to Atrisia is also a plausible scenario.

Additionally, Atrisia has tons of early warning tech. Fleets can rapidly arrive to intervene once the source of the attack has been located.

From what I understand,

The ritual being used during the Annihilation will allow for the GE to do something to TIC & TSO! But I really don't know what. I recommend getting in contact with the GE to expand on the existing objectives. I did not personally plan their storyline leading up to this Annihilation, nor did I plan their objectives. I don't know how attacking and taking Atrisia leads to the GE taking territory from other factions in character.

What I'm personally familiar with is what led GE to target this planet:

1. The Lightsworn, New Jedi Order, and the Jedi Order have been working in tandem to get information on the Death Star, initially dubbed PROJECT: STARDUST.
2. Wrath of God takes place as a direct sequel to Tempo of War III, a story between the Lightsworn and the Galactic Empire.
3. The Death Star and the forces surrounding it are sent forth against Atrisia in an effort to root out their enemy, farm dark side power, and then boom the planet.
4. Given no planet boom is going to happen, I'm left to assume the GE has something in mind. I do not personally know what.

I can only speak for what we've planned based on information provided to me by the faction who initiated the Annihilation. If there wasn't any communication by the other parties involved, I can't speak for them. I am only responsible for the GA-side of this event.

This would be true even in a normal invasion. The invading faction typically provides the story/set piece, the defending faction comes up with their reasons and/or how they are reacting to those set pieces, and typically figure out their own way in and their own spin on those objectives. I understand why you'd feel frustrated, but you should be asking these questions of your admin team and what their plan is, really.

I am sorry to hear that you find the narrative as presented disappointing. GE faction staff are certainly happy to have a discussion with TIC staff about finding better ways to involve your faction; in fact, your faction owner has been actively chatting with us in our Discord since the Annihilation was announced.

I doubt very many invasions occur in which the invader is taking on a rival faction far from your borders and you are supposed to just make shit up so that it makes sense or you lose a random hex

That is part of roleplay, no? We are all making up shit all the time and trying to make sense of it. I've also seen people offering solutions and ideas, but you seem more bent towards not accepting/liking any of those solutions, so I don't know what kind of answer you want.

I would ask of you first to please reach out to TSO staff, as they DO have an official narrative planned as detailed by Darth Empyrean before his departure as MFO.

I would also direct you to TIC staff to see what they have cooked up, but I assure you even though it is a surprise attack it is very much a collaborative story put forward in the laps of faction staffs.

We are always open to questions on storyline, but what those factions do is something that probably should be addressed to the respective party first and then if there is a concern we would love to help facilitate the story further to make sense. We just don’t want to be the force to write their story for them.
