What a Piece of Junk! [Sandrow/Vani]

Emily immediately was absorbed into the action, her senses and emotions running like a pack of Nerf.

The pod Jak had chosen ended up taking second, which was even more exciting.

After the race had ended, Emily turns to Jak, "What kind of food do they have on this planet? I've never been here."

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He shrugged. "Well, whatever you can think of, I'm sure it's in this dustbowl somewhere," he mused.

"Come on, let's get back to the lift," he said, leading the way, holding her close.

Walking back to the lift, Emily felt at home with Jak's arms surrounding her.

"Well I want something from around here!" something new, something refreshing. Like Jak.

New food for new life. He was changing her life.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
And the effect was mutual.

He scratched his head, taking care to keep her close. One wrong bump in this crowd, and they'd be separated.

"Hmm... well, we could try a local cantina for lunch," he suggested.

"Let's do it! I wonder what their alcohol is like..." she says grinning at Jak.

The last time she had alcohol, she ended up staying with Jak. Thus she is here now.

Alcohol was a good thing. Or so she thought.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He nodded, and once they were in their vehicle, he began to look for the nearest cantina.

Finding one after about 10 minutes, he parked outside, and escorted her in.

"Two, please," he said to the tender when he walked in.

A few heads turned, and then turned back to their drinks, and then turned back to the couple.

He shot them a glare, and they suddenly found their drinks to be very interesting.

Arriving at the table, Emily was entranced by it all. Such diversity, much to look at.

One look at the menu and Emily went straight for the hardest sounding drink.

"Eh Jak? What do you want?" she asks, thinking he'll do what they did last time.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He thought for a moment, then ordered a much lighter drink.

Once they were poured, before she could get hers, he switched the glasses, and drank hers with finality, a smug grin on his face. "Nope."

"But!" she looked cross at Jak.

"Why did you do that? Remember last time? That was fun!" she attempts a feign smile, though still upset over her loss of drink.

"Fine..." she sipped her her drink with mental distaste. The food soon arrived.

It was a wild variety of flavors that she had never experienced.

"Okay! This has to be some of the best food!" her spirits now higher with the distraction of food.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He grinned, and flipped the tender the payment. "Okay, let's take this over here..."

He sat her down - like a sir - and placed the food on the table.

Which happened to be the back corner table. It was a habit not easily broken.

With the new table, Emily dug into her food with utter delight.

"How is it, hun?" she asks Jak.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He too was enjoying the cuisine. If such a term could be used to describe it.

"It's not bad, actually. To be perfectly honest... I wasn't expecting that much to begin with," he whispered over the table.

Polishing off his plate, he sighed, content. "So. We ate. We watched a podrace. What say we continue to work on the ship?"

"Sounds dandy!" one of her favorite words. Dandy.

She looked at her empty plate, almost wishing there were more.

She stood up and stretched, ready to go.

He paid for the food, and helped her into her seat.

Heading back to the ship, he talked with her about what he wanted to work on, specifically.

"So, the hyperdrive is going to need to get replaced. We can sell the old one for a good bit of money, so that shouldn't be a problem there. And I think - " A beeping on the dash interrupted him. "That's my comm. Uhhmm... it says a sandstorm's coming in fast. Welp, no paint-job, then."

"Heh, well that means you and I will be trapped inside. Together. Alone." she smiles at Jak.

"I'll bet Re has already found his way back to the ship." Re was an explorer and it never bothered Emily.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"Uh oh," he joked. "Save meee..."

"Yeah, he probably has," Jak replied. "That's a cat for you."

They managed to get inside, with the cargo - and Re - just before the storm hit. Even as the ramp closed, a swirl of sand got in Jak's face, and he coughed till it went away.

"Well.... we're stuck in here for now."

"Just you and I..." her voice lingering, she approaches Jak and puts her arms around him.

She has to look up into his eyes. "Well, what all can we do trapped indoors?"

Trying to get close to guys was a habit she couldn't break. She hopped that she wouldn't scare Jak off.

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
He picked her up and placed her about a foot farther away. "Well, we could start with the hyperdrive," he suggested flatly.

No, she wasn't scaring him off.

The emotions raging in him were scaring him off.
