Admiral of the Ghost Fleet

The ships were moving incrementally as she could see it. THe seeker moving around but it had served its small purpose for the moment. Buzzing and getting them a chance to judge the weapons capabilities. She had the seeker peeling of towards the side and into one of the hives. THe massive space wasps buzzing when it circled and fired enough to aggravate them. Their stingers coming out when they gave chase to it making it look like a gnat against their massive size. Sala'dine wanted them to circle around but she had some plans. THe attention going to the information from Kiso when she gave a look. "Send her an update, I want her to shadow Admiral Quee within optimal distance of her weapons."

THere were nods and confirmations from the bridge crew as the orders were going out. Her eyes focusing on the entire area where she might be able to position herself with the wasp gone. The destroyers stygium cloak was top notch and it had a crystal grav trap for anti stealth problems so there was that. What she really wanted to do and what she wanted to work on was here. "There." She tapped the hardlight display to set a small waypoint and position them within the shadow of one fo the asteroids. The carrack moving around in the field as it sent improved scans of positions but also where debris might be located.

Meanwhile Cassandra had been drifting, using what momentum she could get from the buzz over the ship and the ship closing the rest of the distance. She had done this many more times in practice and once or twice in reality. The atrisian admiral they had battled within the first order had been dangerous so something to get her bridge disabled was needed. Now though as she moved into pocition she pushed herself off using the lowest setting for the magnetic soles and gloves. She was going along the hull quickly guessing a response would be quick enough. Temperature regulation in the undersuit only went so far to prevent vacuums chill from harming her.

The real trick was to not be on sensors as she just drifted and made it seem more like she was debris tucking herself in and tumbling along the hull like they had snagged a larger piece of rock. She was going along the hull towards the engines and the real danger would begin there. Her hand catching and pulling to get her nestled up as the vibrations she could practically feel in her teeth while the emissions from the engines should go a longer way to masking her and buying her those few precious moments she would need. The first step was the engine itself.. not disabling it though that could work better, no she was using a cutter to shave and peel back.

She wanted more like a wrapped she could open and then close again while welding it. Superficial to many things but for those who could get inside a place few thought to get into a ship. She was searchign with her hand until she felt it, the sweet spot of a chamber, usually used by techs to service and check the engines but the closest to the outside of the ship and with its hatch sealed from vacuum in case of a breach. The other reason as some would say... it was a place sensors weren't put the chamber would bombard and either disable the sensor or set it off every ten seconds putting a ship into a red alert.

Pelagic-class Star Cruiser Evening Tide, in the Stenness System

"The anomaly has disappeared. Tractor beams were not able to lock into it."

"No report from our trailing vessels?" asked Gir, folding his arms, "have them run a detailed scan on our aft."

That was one of the important reasons for keeping a rear guard, especially behind one's flagship. If someone tried to attack a vessel from behind, the rear guard could immediately engage it. In this instance though, there was apparently nothing to attack. Still, having those vessels run an active sensor sweep could pick up on areas of damage or things like debris or homing beacons. The bothan sensor operator shrugged.

"They're on it now. It's possible that whatever it was was vaporized on impact between the relativistic speed and the power of the shields. I am picking up an area of minor shield fluactuations where something appears to have skidded up against our hull."

"Are the Marinus droids out?"

Iont, a big Corellian man in charge of security nodded, "They are."

"Have them investigate it. If there's any damage out there from the impact, we should probably be assessing and fixing it...."

Another thought occurred to him.

"If it's a mynock, have them dispose of it immediately."

Cassandra would soon find a group of eight Marinus droids gliding across the stern of the Evening Tide via microthruster power. Soon, the droids would activate their magnetic feet and start scouring the stern of the vessel for any damage or anomalies. Despite their appearance, Marinus droids were not pure combatants, but also acted as a sort of secondary, supplemental group of sailors on Admiral Quee's ships. While the majority of the ones sent out to investigate the unusual object that had impacted the ship were assigned to damage control, a pair of the droids were actually assigned to keep one of the Tide's several ion engines running. Inside the stern of the ship, dozens of other Marinus and other mechanic droids would be monitoring the ship's engines and keeping them running smoothly under the oversight of an organic engineering crew. While perhaps not the most challenging combatants if face with an intruder, the engine room crew could call upon several squads of nearby Antarian Shock Marines and the ship's own internal security systems to fend back Cassandra if necessary.

Gir turned his attention from the unknown object that had impacted his hull to the greater tactical situation.

"I'm picking up some large, unknown lifeforms in the distance."

Gir briefly creased his lips. An unusual finding, but not heard of. Collossus wasps, space slugs, and dozens of other unusual creatures called the void home. Most were considered pests and navigational hazards by most spacers, but the largest ones could be significant threats. I wonder if this is the surprise Sal'adine hinted at. Better safe than sorry. He cleared his throat and flicked a switch on his headset mike.

"Cerulean One, rise up from current position by one kilometer. Cerulean Two, descend from current position by one kilometer. Run full sensor sweeps of the surrounding area. Let me know if there any unusual sightings and confirm possible existence of organic threats. Withdraw if attacked."

The two light corvettes in his vanguard complied, obtaining vastly different positions in order to provide better sensor coverage for his little squadron. While more exposed to outside threats because they didn't have the cover of asteroids to protect them, it also meant that they could see many things that those same asteroids had concealing from them. Gir half expected the scans to pick up an enemy that would attack them. He turned his eyes back to the ship's weapon's chief.

"Prepare all Tidefall Brilliant Torpedoe-equipped launchers for eminent launch."

"Aye sir."

"Comms, confirm with exercise coordinators that we do not have any friendly, large organics in the area. I want to make sure those are valid targets before we smoke them."

The Pelagic was designed as a long-range attack ship, and unlike many of her contemporaries, it used missiles to project its power. While missiles were often seen as less effective because countermeasures could disable or destroy many warheads before they ever hit, they also allowed the Tide the ability to use indirect firepower, allowing the Tide to hit targets that it couldn't see in straight line of sight because of obstacles such as asteroids or wreckage. While the Tide had many such weapons available to it, he was only activating a fraction of them in the form of the ship's 60 general purpose warhead launchers, all of which had Tidefall Brilliant Torpedoes as one of their firing options. Unlike many warheads, Tidefalls were smart enough to weave around obstacles on their own violition, making them exceptionally useful in instances like this where the terrain was not straightforward. Now to see what the scans pick up....

Things seemed to drag on for quite a while, [member="Sala'dine"] having their join fleets stay concealed during most of the time hear, her moments were very precise and careful, certainly a cautious commander. Not exactly her style, but Kiso could see the benefit of such tactics when going up against and unknown enemy force, but in this training exercise such was not a problem. They knew what the 'enemy forces' had at their disposal along with their general position. Risk of ambush or some extra reinforcements flanking them from behind was next to none, actually the longer they stayed in this passive state the longer [member="Gir Quee"] had to move his more numerous and faster ships.

If he then somehow got a bead on their location such could lead to their fleeting being surrounded, but at the end of teh day Sala'dine was the admiral here and higher rank, she'd for the most part follow her orders until things became to hectic. That didn't mean she couldn't ask, opening a secure comlink to the Atrisian commander, "Admiral, what is our game plan? to just wait"? During her experience as a fleet commander, most of the enemies she had faced where Sith. Each fight being one of raw strength, her fleets often going in full out brawls of capital ship vs capital ship, in the end who ever had the largest fire power and sharpest tactics often being the winners.

Here right now, felt like a mind battle between the two admirals, the two probably knew each other well and what sort of tactics they would use, it was kind of exciting, but at the same time quite boring for her. She just hoped things would change sometime within her lift span.

One by one, explosions could be seen from the bridge of the other vessels as the LLS-2's fired upon the plasma charged mines that lay in the path of the Judiciary; the Scout Fighters relaying their progress back to the Heavy Cruiser as each of their targets were rendered moot and their flight path would turn back for the larger vessels Hangar, intent on returning home. With only the asteroids nearing the vessel, turbo-laser batteries fired away at the debris that threatened them, while Ensign Bernard applied power to the thrusters and continued on their path.

"Put us above the debris field, Bernard" Veiere guided the young ensign, the Jedi Master and Captain of the vessel standing behind the Helm Station and watching through the Transparisteel screen as the situation continued to develop; "Keep an eye out for sentient life here too, the Admiral reported some form of hostile creatures out there somewhere. We need not harm something undeserving. We are after-all, in their territory".

"Eyes on the opposition, Rorik?" Commander Ansion asked their Navigation's Officer, requiring an update on the vessel that had left those explosive charges in their trajectory. "Negative, Commander" She replied absently, her focus remaining upon her station as she sought to broaden their scanning range. "Keep looking".

"Keep us in the open for the time being, then" Veiere added as he eyed the outside thoughtfully, "Give them a target so we can identify their heading when they show up again".

The information coming in was useful but then she heard the message relayed to her. KIso was young... well she looked young as well... clone bodies went a long way as the admiral spoke with the laser com. "I wanted to see what they could do first, when you are ready I want you to target admiral Quee's ships and draw their attention. A plan is in action to work to meet conditions for surrender." She said it with a grin on her face but she wasn't going to be over confident in this regard. Gir was smart adn Domino was a wild card. Veiere was there and something go go after but she was thinking about it whether it would be good to take him out or go after the bigger threat.

"Commander you are free to engage targets." Now the smirk was there and she didn't have the force here in the ship, the layer of biot jelly in the hull prevented them from being attacked mentally but it also worked to keep them from being able to use the force to get outside fo the ship. She just knew what Cassandra could do. The woman was a soldier trained in the academy and given some of the better courses in engineering and infiltration. She had preformed this a couple times in actual combat now and simulated tests.... the hard thing would be internal resistances but it was not to destroy things actually. A small dataspike that would upload a damage solution message to the computers should be more the enough.

Cassandra herself though was slipping in and reading the small scanner on the eva suit. She was able to move carefully but knew that there was more likely to be someone or something right behind her. THe welds and cuts took time if you didn't want to set off damage alarms faster. It was all about the timing and she crouched down low looking for a corner she could get herself into. THe excessive bulk of the suit moved away so she could be in the bodysuit leaving it out of the way. She was moving around and trying to avoid visual by using what small areas the ranger could squeeze herself into and slip around towards vents.

So they are actual live targets. Interesting. Gir turned his eyes to the holo of the map, taking brief notes on the relative positions of the Colossus Wasps. He deemed it unlikely that the creatures would be intelligent enough on their own to track the source of such indirect attacks, yet he couldn't afford to entirely leave out the possibility that they could. We'll eliminate them in clusters then. The blonde man highlighted several of the creatures, selectively putting them into firing groups for prioritized. He guessed that the wasps closest to them would have the best luck in finding out the source of the missiles, which meant that they should be eliminated first in especially concentrated barrages. They could afford to target the other wasps at a more leisurely and varied pace, as those wasps would likely take longer to transverse the void in search of their attackers. He tapped several buttons on his screen, confirming the targets and authorizing the use of live ammunition. Seconds later, dozens of Tidefall Brilliant Torpedoes accompanied by a half dozen Starlance Assault Missiles were surging through space to hit the first trio of Colossus Wasps.

In the stern of the vessel, the ship's engine crew and nearby Antarian Shock Marines continued to keep watch over their daily charges. While Admiral Quee strongly believed personal watchfulness was the best defense, the vessel had automated defenses of its own, such as embedded grav traps, code cylinder based locks, and automated weapons emplacements. Electronically, the vessel had its own defenses, starting with its unusual internal network architecture based on bio-computers and self-organizing software rather than traditional hardware and software. Yet the most superficial defenses of the Evening Tide's electronic defenses included pyrowalls, rapid repetition defense measures, and a team of EI-9 Network Security Droids who constantly monitored the ship's systems. Outside of the vessel, the team of Marinus droids sent to investigate the unusual sensor activity began to land around the vessel's stern with their magnetic feet and began to search for unusual signs and symptoms of a collision or hitchhiker.
