Voss Launch Party

Turning away from her conversation with [member="Joza Perl"], Daska saw a young Patoran woman approaching her. Shaking her hand, she couldn't help but detect a false note in her enthusiastic tone.
"It cost what one would expect," she replied, not wanting to go into detail over the financial disputes of the company with this judgemental stranger right away. "Of course, it's hard to keep the venue classy when it's a nightclub, not a restaurant, but according to customers I've managed it." She knew that clubbing and class would be hard to blend together well, but [member="Priscilla Genesis"] had been the first to suggest - or think, since she hadn't yet said it outright - that she hadn't succeeded, and that was fine. It would be impossible to please everyone, and so far she had not only pleased the majority of customers, she'd pleased herself.

Paris looked at [member="Daska Voss"] with a gleeful smile, and continuing with the conversation.

"It's such a tremendous achievement to own such a prestigious nightclub in a highclass area, with such valued customers and exquisite staff, speaking of which, do you have any openings?"

"Of course, we're always looking to expand," Daska told [member="Priscilla Genesis"], wondering where this was headed. "What exactly where you interested in? Cooking, entertainment?"

Marzena’s dark eyes shifted from the stage, and she peered out of her booth towards the other party goers. Their eyes were all locked on Joza’s dancing form, and even she could admit that the dancer was quite captivating. Even though the Zeltron made her routine look effortless, Marzena knew that it had likely taken a lot of practice to become so skilled. Dancing was more difficult than people realized, it wasn’t as simple as just moving to the music. She sat back once more and took a few more sips of wine as she enjoyed the last minutes of the performance.

She rose from her booth as soon as the music ended, and a glance down towards her empty wine glass sent her back in the direction of the bar. Marzena weaved her way through the crowd, taking careful steps in her precariously high heels. Her dark eyes locked onto the bartender, and she stared him down until he made his way back to her. With a smile she indicated that she would like the same wine as before, and she turned her eyes to the crowd again as she waited. It looked like [member="Daska Voss"]' party was a hit, the club was full and everyone looked pleased with the offerings so far.

It wasn’t long before she noticed the pink hued dancer moving in her direction. Perhaps she should give her some praise; it was always nice to hear some kind words after a performance. Slender fingers took up her new glass of wine and she moved towards [member="Joza Perl"]. At first she merely stood next to the dancer, almost as if she was waiting to see if she would be recognized.

“I enjoyed your performance.” Marzena said with a friendly smile. “You’re quite talented.”

Joza turned to face Voss with a wide grin, clearly pleased at the praise for her performance. Admittedly, the Zeltron fed off of attention and loved compliments. The thought of earning credits for herself with a steady job was appealing, so Joza responded in the only way that she felt was necessary. “Absolutely. You’ve got yourself a regular act, Miss Voss.” The smile never left her face as she spoke. She figured that they’d talk salary and paperwork later, as busy as Daska would be over the course of the night. As she saw [member="Priscilla Genesis"] approach from the corner of her eye, Joza turned her gaze back to [member="Daska Voss"]. “I know you’re very busy tonight, but try and find some time to enjoy your killer party.” The pink skinned woman would wink before turning back to the bar to let the other woman speak with the boss.

After seeing the large crowd that had turned up and how it was only growing, Joza couldn’t help but be excited to be a part of something big. It seemed as if all those nights dancing in seedier establishments and serving drinks on Zeltros had paid off. It was a personal achievement that she would be selected as the opening act for a place where exoticism blended nicely with elegance.

Sipping at the house special cocktail she’d ordered, Joza hummed pleasantly as the subtle lime mixed with liquor tingled her tongue. Tonight was turning out pretty well for the young Zeltron, but it was about to get better. She’d been in her own little world when a feminine voice addressed her from the side, but as her head tilted up from the drink to respond to the much appreciated praise, her eyes grew wide and she nearly spat out her drink.

She almost chocked for a moment, thumping a fist on her chest to further urge her body to swallow the mouthful of drink lest she ruin Marzena’s dress. Marzena karking Choi. Joza had to do a double take, astonishment written across her face before she shook her head and plastered a grin across her face. “Why thank you, Miss Choi.” Her voice came out even and smooth after she had cleared her throat, but her smile quickly turned to a look of giddiness. Play it cool, Joza! It was hard to act natural when one of your favorite actresses called you talented.

“Are you enjoying the party?” She gestured widely with her drink hand before taking another sip, this one slower as she kept her eyes on the celebrity who had approached her. For a moment she thought about asking for an autograph, but reminded herself that she was trying to remain as down to earth as possible lest she appear like the fangirl she was. Or at least, had been on Zeltros. Still, the Zeltron appreciated Marzena’s work all the same.

Some years ago, Marzena had been a co-star on a HoloDrama that had enjoyed much success on Zeltros. She had starred opposite a very handsome and popular Zeltron actor named Tel Rost. The pair had been the subject of rumors shortly after the show ended; the tabloids stated that Marzena had not been able to resists the womanizing ways of Mr. Rost. Despite the fact that they had portrayed a bit of a steamy romance on screen, the two actors could hardly stand each other when the cameras were off.

It was always nice when people recognized her, and she watched as the dancer struggled to down her drink. The actress moved back an inch or two, just until the immediate danger of being spit up upon had passed. She swirled the wine around in her glass for a moment and took a delicate sip before responding to the dancer’s question.

“Yes, I’m having a great time.” She let her gaze wander about the club once more. “I must say, Ms. Voss has excellent taste.”

The sophisticated interior of the club was very welcoming, and it was a place that she wouldn’t mind frequenting in the future. Her gaze settled on the stage for a moment, and it appeared that the space was still dark, perhaps the next performer was still preparing. Marzena tossed a few strands of dark waves over her shoulder, and had a seat next to the dancer. She set her black clutch bag on the bar, and a few pieces of makeup slipped from the opening. The small compact was sleek, golden and boldly displayed the logo of a high end label: Theirry Aucoin.

She slid the products back into her bag, and turned back towards the dancer.

“It seems that you know my name, but I don’t know yours.” Marzena smiled brightly.

“That she does.” Joza nodded in agreement, careful to keep her head from tilting too dramatically lest she look a little too eager to be in Marzena’s presence. “It sort of reminds me of Zeltros, in a way. Classy yet welcoming.” It was true, after all. Joza was no stranger to clubs and bars, from seedy dives to more elegant establishments like this one. Of course, she typically wasn’t a customer of the higher class clubs—usually a waitress and, when she could find an opening, as a dancer.

Unfortunately on Zeltros, there was a lot of competition for entertainment. Off of Zeltros however, she found it rather easy to book gigs—at times not even having to audition, as the prospect of having a Zeltron performer was good enough for some employers. At least her time spent dancing on Sullust and Coruscant would help to build her portfolio.

“Oh!” The dancer fidgeted, returning Marzena’s smile to the best of her ability. “That’s right, how rude of me. I’m Joza. Joza Perl.” She gave her own glass a gentle swirl before downing the rest of its contents in one fell swoop. Placing the glass on the bar and waving to the tender, she turned back to Marzena when her eyes caught the gold emblem of the compact as it glinted off of the dim lights. “…Theirry Aucoin?” She ventured, immediately recognizing the logo as such. The Knight never had an opportunity to get her hands on a high end brand of cosmetics save for the odd free sample. Growing up in a low-income family, she typically made do with cheaper versions.

“I’ve always wanted to try their bronzer,” She comment offhandedly, nodding to the bartender as he slid another full glass towards her. “I hear that they’ve got quite the shade range. Good concealer too, from what I’ve heard. And their products come in pink.” She grinned, her smile disappearing behind the glass as she lifted it to her lips.

“It’s a pleasure, Joza.” The smile remained on her painted lips. For a moment she pondered asking if the dancer gave lessons, for that kind of dance experience would look impressive on her resume. Marzena was not quite as curvy as most dancers, but she figured that she could make it work, a skilled costume designer could work wonders. Her attention shifted quickly when Joza took notice of her compact, it seemed that there were few women that truly appreciated the finer things... but she was pleasantly surprised that Joza had recognized the product just by a passing glance.

“Oh! You know his line?” She pulled the compact back out of her bag, and a manicured finger popped it open for Joza to see. Inside there was a small palette of powder blushes and one bronzer shade. “This palette is from their newest line; I think it’s slated for release within the next couple of months.”

She often received new items from cosmetic brands to try; it was a very nice perk of her celebrity life. Marzena was the type that took a lot of pride in carrying the best of everything, and she loved the elitist air that it cultivated... even if it did make her appear a bit stuck up or snobby at times.

“If you’d like, I can reach out to my contact at Theirry Aucoin and have them send you some products to try.”
