Voss Launch Party

Coruscant

In one hand, Daska held an expensive notebook bound in leather with 'D.Voss' inscribed on the inside in cursive. The other hand was shaking with excitement because when she looked up, the glamorous and exotic nightclub she'd drawn so carefully inside its pages was in front of her. This had been her dream since she was ten and now she was walking inside. This company had gone from a daydream to an idea to a plan to the cursive 'Voss' emblazoned on the front. As she waited for the employees to arrive she paced around the club unable to stop herself from marvelling at her good fortune. If her parents hadn't already died of a deathstick overdose or been arrested, perhaps when they saw her in headlines she would make them think.
Daska glanced at the checklist she'd slotted between the pages of her notebook. She'd filled out the orders for food and drink the week before and sent her pilot [member="Cory Yazz"] to collect the order and bring the goods to Coruscant. Next on the list was entertainment - Daska was expecting a musician [member="Daniel Silverton"] and a dancer [member="Joza Perl"], both of whom would be there any minute. She'd heard great things about them both and she knew that they could bring something extra to the party and hopefully earn her enough to be able to hire them as full-time workers. All she had to do now was wait for everybody to arrive.

Cory sighed as the ship slowly entered the atmosphere, he had been charged with bringing in the food and drinks for the launch part of Voss. The skateboarding teen pulled on his headphones which were blasting punk rock music, he was getting nearer and nearer to his destination.

He was taken aback when he had received a message from Voss telling him to pickup the food and drink order, at first he refused, but then he realized it would have been bad to deny the woman's dream. The ship slowly landed on a platform near the place where the Voss launch party was to happen.

Upon landing, he got up off the pilot's chair and walked towards the cargo bay, there were people already unloading the ship, Cory got on his skateboard and skated down the ship's ramp, he then skidded to a halt and smiled.

"Hey boss, where do you want the shipment?.... never mind, Kark it." he said as he watched the crew bring it through the back of the nightclub. Yazz skated to the back door, and took off his headphones. He opened the door and walked in. His skateboard in hand.

He then looked around for Voss.

Daska heard the pilot arrive and ran to the front to see him dropping off the shipment behind the nightclub.
"Oh, thanks so much," she sighed with relief, whipping out her datapad and tapping at it hurriedly. "Your pay should be in your account now - twenty-five thousand credits. And of course if we go over the estimated profit amount tonight, you'll get a cut of it. Until the party starts you can just hang around here, then you can stay or go, it's up to you."
She brought the delivery to the kitchen and unloaded it - the top-quality drinks from Corellia and Mandalor had taken some negotiations to get at an affordable price, but Voss couldn't have anything but the best. Putting a holoimage up detailing instructions, she helped the chefs mix the drinks for a while before hurrying out to continue with arrangement.

It had been a long time since Joza last danced on stage, her most recent performance being on the stage of Diamond Dust on Sullust. She’d acted on a whim, and luckily the owner had an act that needed to be filled that night after a sudden drop-out in the performance lineup. Thankfully Zeltron entertainers had a rather positive stigma to them, that and a touch of pheromones helped her score a spot on the stage for the night. And as much as she’d enjoyed indulging in her craft, she quickly sobered back up to maintain the more chaste lifestyle of a Jedi.

Several years had passed since she had danced professionally, but Joza gradually sank back into the more hedonistic lifestyle she was familiar with before leaving Zeltros. Though it felt more comfortable to her, she didn’t exactly feel comfortable calling herself Jedi anymore. Regardless, the young Zeltron took a chance to audition for a performance slot in Voss, having seen a flyer for employment in the club. Much to her pleasure, she had been invited to perform—and getting paid certainly tickled her just as much as dancing.

The redhead moved smoothly through the doors of the club, eyes immediately flickering toward the stage. Impressive… She took a few moments to scan the area, taking everything in from the placement of the tables and bar to the décor. It was clear that the owner(s) spared no expense in outfitting the club to look stylish, and she could appreciate the lavish yet classy style of decoration. Joza wasn’t sure that she’d ever danced in a place as nice looking as this.

After only a few moments of marveling, the figure of [member="Daska Voss"] rushing out from the kitchen caught her eye. “Ah, Miss Voss,” The Zeltron offered a polite smile, striding towards the other woman. “I’m Joza Perl, one of the dancers requested for this evening.” She adjusted the bag slung over her shoulder that held her outfit, makeup and other adornments, having arrived in street clothes.

Another night, another party... It seemed that lately Marzena Choi had received more party invitations than auditions, but she told herself that she was still working. After all, networking was so very important in her line of work. She had been rather pleased to receive a VIP invite from Daska Voss, and decided that she would grace the new nightclub with her presence.

Tonight she had decided to wear a strapless black dress that ended just short of her knees, it was a fairly simple silhouette, but she made use of sparkling accessories to add interest. Red high heels granted Marzena a bit of extra height, and she walked with graceful steps towards the red velvet rope. There was already quite a crowd gathered for the new club’s opening, and she was ever so thankful that her celebrity status moved her to the front.

It wasn’t unheard of for Marzena to sing at venues like Voss, but recent events on Lanteeb had spurred her into taking a bit of a break from the stage... She was also a bit uneasy traveling away from her home on Bespin now, and took at least two of her bodyguards with her when she went off world. The two men that accompanied her this evening were sharply dressed in dark suits, she had taken them shopping earlier that day... insisting that they look the part. One of the guards moved away from them as they waited at the door, but he returned after a few moments, nodding to his partner.

“The area is secure.” He said simply.

“Fantastic.” Marzena said, “I certainly don’t want any more bomb scares...” She said quietly, but neither of the guards responded.

Her toe began to tap against the pavement; she was growing impatient, even though she’d only been waiting for a few moments. Marzena knew that there was likely much preparation for such an event, but surely they would allow her to enter soon... that’s what VIP status was all about, right?

A soft panting disappeared quickly as the singer, one of the most famous on Coruscant for her parties, voice, dance, and showing ups in several big restaurants and bars, found herself walking past two doors.

She looked to have just came from a race of sorts, but the outfit of purple velvet and classy black markings of swirly designs beckoned for attention, dragging away from her beautiful spotted face, with just a soft pout of make-up. Without moments to loose, she took herself and her small case to [member="Daska Voss"] where she could properly introduce herself. Though, it appeared she was in rather a rush. "Sorry if I'm tardy," Her fluttery bird's voice sounded as she took the final paces to stand comfortably. "I had a bit of a problem with my instrumental unit, but all is fine. Good to meet you."

Cory had slowly pulled his headphones back on, the music was still playing, he couldn't help but smile to himself as he exited the kitchen. it seemed as if it was almost time to let everyone in, Cory noticed a few women talking to Voss, and decided to walk the other direction towards a nice booth upstairs.

"No way am I getting caught up in a conversation with any of them..." He said with a nervous laugh.

Cory had reached a booth that overlooked the stage, he smiled as he sat down, his skateboard leaned against the table. The teen then put his feet up on the table.

"Classy place." He said simply as he turned up his music.

Cory sat back and simply watched downstairs. He had no clue how the night would turn out.

Daska watched with satisfaction as people began to arrive.

"Joza, great to have you here," she greeted the dancer with a smile. "Follow me." She led [member="Joza Perl"] through the club to a set of dressing rooms and pointed her inside. "Glam yourself up, you're on stage in twenty minutes." She winked as she left the Zeltron and returned to the front of the club.

"No problem, you're right on time," she told [member="Daniel Silverton"]. "Good to meet you to. if you need to warm up or practice or anything, well - you can see where the stage is," she grinned. Then she noticed a rich looking woman waiting at the front, looking rather impatient.

"Good evening," she said, poking her head outside, "you're here for the party, I'm guessing? Things are kicking off in about twenty minutes but - " she glanced at the woman's expensive-looking attire - "you're welcome to come inside and have a drink while you wait."

[member="Marzena Choi"]
[member="Cory Yazz"]

Joza returned Daska’s smile, nodding vaguely as she was led toward the dressing area. Twenty minutes? Alright, I can work with that. That would be just enough time to vamp up her makeup, dress and perhaps get a few stretches in. She wasn’t worried about the choreography, having practiced it diligently somewhat in anticipation of this event. Any stage fright she had had been worn off years ago while living on Zeltros, to the point where one could say that Joza was not shy.

As the other woman bustled away to attend to the many other affairs of opening night, Joza set her bag down and removed her attire for the evening. She slipped on the chest piece, a red satin bikini cut covered with jewels and rhinestones set along delicate gold filigree. Next came the silken skirt with a high slit that ran to her upper thigh, translucent except for the obvious bits that needed to be covered, lest her performance turn into a peep show. Dressing only took her a few minutes, and it was time to move on to the makeup.

She’d rummaged through her makeup bag for nearly a minute before dumping it out onto the small table provided in frustration. Picking up a small tube she’d been looking for, the Zeltron hurriedly applied the primer all over her face and eyelids. Stage lights were hot, and she had to last through her performance without looking like a sweaty mess and having her makeup slide around. After foundation and concealer came many layers of dark shadow and liner, smudged and smoked out to give her a more “exotic” look. She’d move on to the contouring quickly, stopping every so often to add an extra coat of mascara or curl her lashes once more. Gradually she’d come together, but the dancer would not stop primping until she was called for.

[member="Daska Voss"]

Checking the time, Daska saw that the party was about to get started. She returned to Joza's dressing room and smiled widely as she saw the dancer curling her lashes.

"Look at you, you'll steal the show tonight," she grinned. "You're up whenever you're ready. Have fun!"

She'd heard plenty about [member="Joza Perl"] - her looks, her Jedi escapades, her talents - she'd been counting on them to be true. In another business, she would be looking for workers with pristine reputations, but she was hiring an exotic dancer for a nightclub; mystery and edge was a necessity. Joza would be exactly what they needed to kick things off right, and she knew the musician she'd hired would follow up with just as impressive results. Tonight would go perfectly.

As waitresses began bringing out trays of drinks - mostly original cocktail recipes, but you could never forget the classics - she grabbed a glass of Corellian wine and sat down, feeling satisfied as she leant back on the comfortable leather sofas. She looked once again through her notebook - there was one thing still on the checklist, with a drawing of an intricate swirl design with a cursive 'V' in the center. She had promised herself that after Voss opened, she would get a tattoo.

Faced with time to spare, she pulled a small tube of pink lipstick from her clutch, and touched up the color just slightly. The actress had attracted the attention of the crowd, she heard her name being called, and saw the eyes of her adoring fans. She offered a small wave, and a smile to those that recognized her, but soon turned her attention back to the closed door.

Marzena heaved a rather dramatic sigh, and twisted a few strands of black hair absently around her index finger. As if on cue, she watched as the door opened and a woman peeked out. She assumed that the woman at the door was none other than the owner, Daska Voss, and she offered her a polite nod.

“Thank you.” She said simply, accepting the early invitation into the club.

One of her guards stepped forward and held the door open to let Marzena through, and then followed along dutifully. Her dark eyes shifted about, taking in the lavish interior of the club, and silently gave her approval. It was a very classy venue. She watched as the club owner scurried off to tend to the preparations for her party, and Marzena decided that it would be a good time to claim a seat by the bar.

She slid gracefully onto a barstool and held up two fingers to the bartender, indicating that she would like service.

“A glass of your best red, please.” Marzena said, even before the bartender had made his way over.

Once her drink had been set down in front of her, delicate fingers lifted the glass and inspected it carefully for a moment. It was pristine, and the red wine swirled around her glass in a pleasing way. She took a dainty sip and sat silently, knowing that these would be the last few quiet moments of the evening.

Jan didn't know how he got this job. He had guarded scumbags, arms dealers, and corporate executives. He had invaded planets, and lead men into battle. He had faced Jedi with only a blade and his wits. Yet here he was, a security guard for a club on Coruscant. Jan quietly sighed, then straightened as the club host walked by him. Jan immediately slouched a little against the wall after she passed and again pondered this new job.

The club was going to have a very big party. His job was to make sure no highly illegal substances were on the premicise, and remove any guests that proved too rowdy for the festivities. Lastly, and most importantly, don't let anybody onto the stage where the entertainers were performing. It was simple, other than Jan couldn't wear his armor or carry his usual weapons around.

His armor ,the club host sad, would not fit in at this establishment. It also would make some guest feel unsafe, if they saw and Jan quotes "A big dirty, robot Jawa" so Jan had to go purchase a suit and leave most of his weapons on his ship. He still had a couple knives, and one of his Ambassador revolvers. The club host said that was overkill, but she relented.

Jan shook his head. He felt like a Krayt Dragon swimming. It was new, slightly uncomfortable, and unnatural. Jan leaned against the wall and again savored the last few precious moments of peace and quiet. Soon he would be on the job.

Joza’s head tilted back when Daska came to check up on her, offering the woman a mild smile before quickly setting down the curler to grab for a spoolie brush, combing out her lashes so that they weren’t sticking together. She’d been given stricter time limits before, and it wasn’t often that she had the luxury of her own dressing room, so Joza was rather content with the circumstances. She’d thrown herself together in half the time on Zeltros, so it stood that the dancer was almost ready.

Chuckling lowly at Voss’ comment, the Zeltron woman shook her head vaguely so as to not mess up yet another layer of liner she was applying. “I do thrive on attention. No worries, I’ll be ready shortly.” As the boss drifted out of the room to handle business elsewhere, Joza fluffed her hair, using a wide-toothed come to pick at her perfectly set waves, wanting to smooth them out without losing the volume. At last, she felt as if she was stage-ready. The redhead would give one last lingering look in the mirror, admiring the way her risqué outfit emphasized her curves. With that last boost of confidence, she headed towards the stage.

[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZS1gH-A1hw[/youtube]

The lights dimmed quickly as if the audience was about to watch a HoloFlick, only a handful remaining bright enough to illuminate certain points of the stage. As the crowd hushed and turned their attention towards the stage, the music would begin. A stringed instrument would sound, slow and exotic as it set the tone for the performance. The music would gradually build as Joza slipped on to the stage, silken veil fluttering behind her.
The Zeltron would twirl gracefully, the pretty fabric she was carrying moving with each fluid motion of her body. Though her steps were carefully placed, the dance was designed to make it seem effortless. In truth, she’d never performed in front of a crowd this big and it did cause butterflies to tickle her stomach in both nerves and excitement. But like a good performer, she had her own tricks to ensure that she exuded nothing less than poise and an airy sureness. As the music rose, so would her veil work become more rapid.

The foreign beat reached a sudden crescendo before stopping abruptly, Joza tossing the veil over her shoulder with a smooth flick of her wrist. Now came the more bodily moves, beginning with soft undulations that would travel from her chest down through her stomach and into her hips. It was gentle and repetitive, subtle enough to not be considered raunchy as she focused on her arms. Using them to frame her undulating body, it was as if a wave was rolling from her fingertips to her shoulders, each joint flexing in what appeared to be one smooth, connected motion.

For now she would continue this slower paced dance, her fluid movements and the dim lights adding an air of mystery to the stage.

It was all Daska could do not to run up onto the stage and hug the twirling Zeltron - it was clear that all mentions of her talents were true, and after the way she captivated the club there was no way tonight could go badly. In fact, she could probably hire Joza back seven days a week and fill her dressing room with outfits and makeup and accessories of infinite variety with what Voss was about to be earning. Everybody had been enjoying themselves as best she could see even before the entertainment began, and the dancer wasn't even her only act. In fact, Daska thought to herself, as well as Joza was doing [member="Daniel Silverton"] would be on the moment she finished. Discreetly she left her booth and slipped backstage, where the singer was waiting.

"As soon as you hear applause, that's your cue," she informed her. "You'll be great. Good luck!"

She'd been planning on having the Daniel and Joza do a singing-dancing duet afterwards and let that be the night's entertainment, but having seen [member="Marzena Choi"] show up was tempted to throw an impromptu karaoke to keep things interesting. Giving everyone who wanted it a chance to have some more fun couldn't go wrong, and Marzena could certainly add to the night's publicity - besides, she was personally quite a fan of the celebrity's music. What could be the harm, she decided. For now, she'd return to enjoy the last of Joza's performance - Daska herself had almost started dancing as a form of moneymaking before deciding that journalism would introduce her to more important and otherwise useful people, but she appreciated talent in that area all the same.

It wasn’t long before the doors opened to the public, and the club was bustling with energy. Marzena watched with interest as people filtered inside, some making their way to the bar, and other settling down to watch the performances to come. A small band of well-wishers found her, each offered her compliments, told her how brave she had been on Lanteeb, and how they looked forward to her next projects. It was very nice to know that she had such a supportive fan base, and she would do well not to disappoint them. Marzena had recently enjoyed a bit of an upswing in popularity, the images of an alien terrorist at her concert in Lantibba City had found their way onto the HoloNet. If there was any upside to having been held at gunpoint... this was surely it.

“If you will excuse me...” Marzena smiled as she slipped away from the crowd at the bar.

As the lights dimmed to signal the start of the show, the actress and singer moved in favor of a quiet booth in the corner. Her dark eyes found the stage, and she watched with interest as the form of a rather buxom Zeltron woman became illuminated before them. As the music played in the background, she took in the dancer’s fluid movements, and had to admit that she was quite good. Marzena had always been very confident, and she had never felt jealous or threatened by other women... That didn’t mean that she was never involved in friendly rivalries, there was always room for a bit of healthy competition.

The Zeltron dancer’s complexion was glowing, and Marzena mused that perhaps she would have to talk makeup with her after the show. A career in show business meant that she was never seen without a full face of makeup, and she had developed an affinity for skincare over the years as well. When you lived in the spotlight, you just had to be pretty.

Daithi Balik swore as he checked the chronometer as he setteled his small freighter in behind the club. The grand opening was already well underway, and he was supposed to have made his delivery before the show started. Not that was his fault, he'd been kept waiting at Customs because the clerk was new and didn't process beings efficiently yet. And then the clerk processed him incorrectly, which caused him to be detained, and have to do a lot of explaining to Coruscanti authorities, and ... well it had been a long day since his arrival in orbit. His cargo was a selection of Corellian drinks that were being donated to the grand opening. He'd half expected to find a few crates missing after all the hassle at customs, but he'd found each crate exactly where he left it, they hadn't moved any of them, good. There was enough ale, whiskey, beer, wine, and other assorted drinks to keep the Voss club stocked for at least a month, even if they served it cheap. But this wasn't the run of the mill beverages, these were the high quality drinks that tended to sell for hundreds of creds per cup.

All in all, the donation amounted to nearly four hundred million credits in cash value. Diathi didn't know who was donating, he was just asked to ship the load, since it'd all fit in his YT-2000, and he'd always wanted to visit Couruscant, but little things just kept getting in the way. Diathi didn't really want to stay, he wasn't dressed for a party, certainly not one of this caliber, so he found someone to sign for the delivery, and then sat in a corner of the kitchen, eating a lite meal, trying to stay out of the way. Eventually though, he had to move out the bar, as he couldn't quite stay far enough out of the way in the kitchen. He felt really weird wearing his pilot's gear, in such a classy place, and tried to finish quickly so he could leave before anyone noticed him.

Joza was still on stage and Daska wasn't sure where Daniel had gotten to, but several people had been hired at the last minute and if worst came to worst she could throw an open mic or ask Marzena to perform (although she'd prefer not to exercise that option if she could help it; the last thing she wanted was for Voss to appear unprofessional and unprepared in front of the Marzena Choi). For now though, Joza was stealing the spotlight and she wanted something to eat.

Slipping into the kitchen, she noticed her other pilot dining in the corner.

"Brilliant, that's us got everything now," she said in relief, taking out her datapad and transferring his pay. "Would you like a drink? They're rather nice, if I do say so myself." She'd spent weeks perfecting every recipe and had called in several favours to acquire the finest quality ingredients - Voss couldn't be remembered as anything but the best. Achieving that goal had left her skint, but she knew that tonight she'd reap the rewards. Opening the crates, she stacked the goods on the rows of shelves surrounding the kitchen. "Everybody's loving the drinks!" she told the chefs as she hurried out of the kitchen, grabbing one herself. "Keep it up!"

She returned to the front of the club just as the music came to an end and the Zeltron finished flawlessly. As she glided off the stage gracefully, Daska took her place and announced the karaoke. She was met with enthusiasm and sighed in relief as the first slightly tipsy party-goer took to the stage. So far, so good.

The swaying hips and subtle flowing movements continued for the next several minutes, no part of the song ignored by her body as she drifted across the stage. Comfortable wasn’t exactly the word that would describe performing live, but exhilarating sure fit the bill. Figuring that Club Voss was a classier place than some of the establishments she’d worked in, Joza had chosen a more conservative, yes still exotic dance routine with a mischievous sexual undertone. If tonight went well and she was invited back, she could probably talk to Daska about different types of routines, perhaps something a bit raunchier and more energetic. At the risk of getting ahead of herself, Joza put those thoughts out of her mind and concentrated on making her movements appear effortlessly smooth.

X1bxRcH.gif

As the music faded, so did the pink skinned dancer into the background, and eventually off stage. With the performance over, she felt as if some sort of weight had been lifted from her shoulders. Getting paid to dance came with its own pressures, but she still enjoyed it all the same. With her heart still beating, she figured she’d take advantage of the adrenaline rush and grab a drink or two while watching the other acts of the evening. Of course, after fixing her hair and blotting the sweat from her face before it became too unsightly.

After changing into a short black evening dress and making sure she was fixed up, Joza drifted from the back area towards the bar. She’d heard that Voss prided herself on her drink recipes, and was determined to test the fruits of her labor.

[member="Daska Voss"] [member="Daithi Balik"] [member="Marzena Choi"]

Grinning to herself as more and more people took to the stage to join in the karaoke antics, she slipped through the crowd to find the dancer at the back.

"You were brilliant," she congratulated her, sipping at the cocktail in her hand. "Job's yours seven days a week if you want it and they pay will just keep getting better." Not only had Joza more than earnt her pay, it was all about what message you were sending to the public. If Voss was so successful that they could afford to give all their employees a few extra thousand credits, they came off as rich and powerful and you couldn't go wrong with projecting that image. It was even better, however, if it was more than just a reputation; the plans for Voss hotels and even Voss resorts were already drawn out and at the rate the night was going, it would be just weeks until they came to life. When they did, she'd be certain to invite everybody she'd hired to attend as VIP guests, and Joza would be no exception.

As Paris entered the buzzing nightclub, she had second doubts about ever coming here in the first place. Such a rowdy, reveling environment that she wasn't used to. It almost looked tacky from the outside, the neon bright lights, the security guards, but she knew that looks could be deceiving. And boy was she right. As she entered, the place turned from tacky to a cesspit, with "exotic dancers" everywhere, a young kid who clearly wasn't supposed to be here and what looked to be an underage singer.

But as she approached the nightclub's owner, ([member="Daska Voss"]) she approached her and put on a deceiving face, while attempting to be serious.

She extends her hand to Voss, offering a handshake before saying,

"I love the atmosphere in here, the dancers, the singers, the karaoke, everything. How much did it all cost you?"
