Computing

Strong.png

  • Void Drift: Low sensor visibility and difficult targeting profile during movement
  • Fangline Batteries: Overlapping firing arcs designed for pursuit and flanking attacks
  • Blackbite Screen: Dense point defense coverage against fighters, missiles, and torpedoes
  • Ghostwake Engines: Rapid acceleration and maneuvering capability for its class
  • Whisperveil Network: Advanced encrypted communications and slicing resistance
  • Packfang Command: Superior tactical coordination with allied ships and strike craft

Weak.png

  • Thin Jaw Armor: Forward focused armor design leaves weaker side coverage in broadside engagements
  • Overfed Systems: High power demands strain the ship during prolonged combat operations
  • Broken Tooth Syndrome: Damage to command or engine systems sharply reduces overall combat effectiveness
  • Narrow Gullet: Interior corridors create chokepoints during boarding actions
  • Long Hunt Recovery: Complex systems make battlefield repairs slow and difficult
  • Light Killing Bite: Lacks the raw bombardment output of dedicated heavy siege vessels

Description.png

The ship had not been commissioned through the usual channels of the Second Legion.

No announcement came from Valka Industries, and no Sith council ever discussed its construction. The project moved quietly through secured shipyards and private dry docks beneath false designations until most of the workers involved believed they were assembling another classified Dreadborne weapons platform.

Only a few people knew the truth.

Aerik started it after realizing something he could no longer ignore. Gerwald commanded fleets, and the Dreadborne carried his banners across the galaxy. Sith Lords spoke his name with respect, caution, or fear depending on the room. Even the Obsidian Spire reflected him in its cold grandeur and reputation.

Naedira never asked for any of those things, yet she stood beside them anyway.

She endured the wars, the absences, and the endless politics that followed their family from one conflict to another. She turned cold places into homes and somehow kept them feeling alive even when the galaxy around them seemed determined to consume itself. Aerik understood that much of what held their family together had never come from power or titles. It came from her.

The idea began as a conversation between siblings rather than some carefully orchestrated plan. Aerik mentioned it first, though even he could not say when the thought became serious. Kolin immediately pushed for the ship to look dangerous enough that nobody would mistake who it belonged to. He wanted sharp lines, heavy weapons, and an exterior that looked capable of cutting another vessel apart head on. Vyra pushed back almost instantly and argued that their mother would hate something that looked like a floating slab of artillery.

The arguments became part of the process.

Kolin wanted intimidation. Vyra wanted atmosphere. Aerik spent most of the project somewhere between the two, trying to shape the vessel into something that felt like Naedira instead of simply another warship rolling out of a Valka dry dock.

The engineers learned quickly that none of the three siblings were willing to compromise easily. Entire sections of the hull were rebuilt because Kolin thought the ship looked too soft. Weapon placements changed repeatedly because Vyra refused to let the exterior silhouette become cluttered or inelegant. Aerik obsessed over the overall shape of the vessel and wanted it to feel predatory from every angle, like something built to stalk rather than simply overpower.

Somewhere along the way the project stopped feeling like a classified construction initiative and became something personal to all of them.

The final vessel emerged long and narrow with a forward hull shaped like the point of a fang. Violet light pulsed beneath black armor in thin fractures that resembled veins beneath obsidian skin. The ship carried visible weapon systems, though they blended into the design instead of overwhelming it. Even standing still in dry dock, the vessel looked like it was hunting something.

They named it Voidfang.

The name came easily once they saw the completed ship together for the first time. It sounded ancient, dangerous, and strangely regal all at once. More importantly, it felt right for her.

Rumors surrounded the ship before it ever officially launched. Workers whispered about the unnatural quiet aboard during testing cycles. Pilots claimed the engines sounded wrong when heard through the dark of open space. Others insisted the Voidfang appeared less like a warship and more like some phantom drifting at the edge of sight.

Kolin loved the stories and encouraged half of them himself.

Aerik mostly ignored them.

Vyra pretended they annoyed her even while quietly adding to the atmosphere aboard the vessel whenever she thought nobody else noticed.

In the end none of the rumors mattered nearly as much as the reason the ship existed in the first place.

The Voidfang was never meant to be a political statement or symbol of status. It was a gift from children who had grown up surrounded by war and monsters yet still understood exactly who had held their family together through all of it.

Their mother deserved something worthy of her name.
