Role: Opposition | Knight of Ren
Permissions: Not Applicable
Links: Tyrus Ren

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Age: Late Twenties
Force Sensitivity: Experienced Knight
Species: Human
Appearance: Vigilus is a tall, lean man, with a thin build. He stands around one hundred ninety centimeters tall and weighs around ninety seven kilograms. Despite his frame, Vigilus is said to be physically imposing with a long reach and wide gait.

He is almost always seen in his black robes, tunics, and trousers, wearing his simple armor underneath those when he goes into combat. His mask is almost always worn, only taken off to sleep with a more comfortable breathing apparatus or meditate within a medicated chamber.

Beneath the mask, Vigilus’s face is scarred from beneath his left eye to his collarbone, a lightsaber having scored out his larynx and vocal cords as well as having ruptured his trachea. His throat is horribly burned, leaving a large burned area around his neck which is covered by his breathing apparatus. The front portion of his left jawbone has been severed, he is missing several of his top teeth, and his lip has been burned to expose his gums on the left side. Vigilus's left eye is milky white, however he seems to be able to see from it still. His lungs are similarly damaged having swallowed dripping plasma that had been left in the wound by a blade with a Lava crystal, causing every breath to be agony.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
Name: Vigilus
Titles: Knight of Ren
Loyalties: Tyrus Ren | Independent
Wealth: Vigilus keeps a small personal collection consisting of trinkets and oddities he takes from worlds he visits. Rarely these are of any real value to anyone but Vigilus himself or those he has taken them from.

Notable Possessions: Vigilus often wears a set of armor underneath a black cloak and tunic, simplistic in design and function. He carries a crossguard lightsaber of special design, having used a Vexxtal crystal and Lignan ore as its focusing crystal. The saber emits a broad, unstable blade which crackles with energy and power, with a sinister buzz compared to standard lightsabers. Its cutting power is above those of standard lightsabers, though it is more susceptible to shorting out underwater and to cortosis. Vigilus is an excellent pilot and mechanic, often repairing and modifying his TIE/vn Space Superiority Fighter himself.

Skills: The former Knight of Ren is a naturally gifted Force user and a potent duelist. Vigilus is strong in the Force, having developed an affinity for Telekinesis and its many applications from a young age, including Combustion by vibrating molecules, Force Chokes through holocom conferences, stopping and reversing the trajectory of laser blasts, and various other feats with the skill. He is also adept with auxiliary skills like Dark Transfer, Accelerate Healing, and Control Pain, allowing him to recover from injuries, numb his pain receptors, and heal others he seeks to aid.

As a duelist, Tyrus Ren has at least partially trained him in many forms of Lightsaber Combat, however Vigilus excels most in the explosive offensive abilities displayed by Form IV, Ataru, and the Fast and Strong styles of the New Jedi Order.

He is an excellent pilot and vehicle operator, having established himself as a Starfighter pilot before he joined the First Order Remnant Warlord’s inner circle. Though he spends little time in a cockpit now, he still possesses those skills should he need them.

Personality: Vigilus is stoic and stern. His mask is expressionless and rarely does his voice exhibit emotion through the vocoder built into the helmet. The Dark Side warrior has little patience, carrying out his duty with cold and methodical calculation while expecting others meet his expectations. As Tyrus's chief enforcer, many of his subordinates look to him as a stalwart beacon of duty and commitment to their leader. Internally, Vigilus is deeply troubled, having been betrayed by the being he had trusted and devoted himself to, outcast by the Order he had dedicated his life and very identity to, and having been traumatized by his injury and the experiences he suffered. Every moment of his life is painful, machines assisting his tattered lungs and throat to survive, and so he is always on edge.

Vigilus has a low tolerance of failure, not hesitating to execute his subordinates for repeated failures when he becomes frustrated, and has a strong disdain for dishonesty and deception, but was not without the ability to manipulate and mislead others with half-truths and lies of omission. As few expect manipulation or betrayal from the straightforward dark warrior, he is able to outmaneuver cunning political opponents.

COMBAT INFORMATION

Weapon of Choice: Lightsaber | The Force | Blasters
Combat Function: Vigilus is a potent Force user and a deadly duelist, having specialized himself with telekinesis in the Force and the fast, explosive Lightsaber styles in melee combat. He is also a skilled pilot, often known for leading from the front when he is able to in space or on the ground, taking command of strike teams with vital missions.

Strengths:

  • Telekinetic Assailant: The former Ren is a master of the art of Telekinesis, combining natural talent and potential in the Force with years of specialized study to turn himself into a devastating force. He can perform simple feats of telekinesis without gestures, and has been known to stop blaster bolts and alter their trajectory with the skill. Using telekinesis, Vigilus can emulate other abilities, such as combustion, body control, and detoxify by focusing on manipulating molecules.
  • Master Duelist: Vigilus is described as unorthodox, explosive, and swift, using his crossguard lightsaber to great effect in melee with opponents with and without the Force.
Weaknesses:
  • Ravaged Body: Vigilus was left battered and heavily injured following the Purge he survived, left with damaged lungs and trachea that force him to use breathing apparatuses and meditation chambers. He is unable to survive without such devices for longer than a few minutes and is often in constant pain, especially when speaking.
  • Sleep Deprivation: His injury causes him constant pain, making sleep difficult, if he is able to sleep at all. He forgoes numbing agents and sedatives as much as possible, which can lead to him spending days at a time without rest, relying on the Force to sustain the sharpness of his mind.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Like many young children with great potential in the Force, Vigilus began his life being sought after by one of the various Dark Side orders to recruit and indoctrinate. For him, it was the First Order and the Knights of Ren that took him in and trained him to be one of their weapons. Mental and Physical conditioning took its toll on his psyche, but the young man that would become Vigilus was determined to make his Master’s proud and earn their respect. He spent most of his youth practicing, sparring, and training his mind and body in order to ascend to the ranks of the Ren, a feat he managed but barely. Despite his effort, the young man lacked the killer instinct or emotional drive of his peers, not that he was not a skilled warrior or dedicated practitioner of the Force. Where his allies might draw upon hatred, he called upon duty as his motivation which may have stunted his potential among the order.

In battle he joined the First Order’s armies in many fields in Wild Space and the Outer Rim, fighting despots and warlords, the Galactic Alliance, the Silver Jedi. Ever was the young man stalwart and devout to the cause of his Supreme Leader and the leaders of the Imperial Bloc. Like all good things, it was not to last. The Purge happened and the ranks of the Ren turned upon one another, and the young Ren found himself on the wrong side of the Supreme Leader’s wishes. He found himself a target for execution despite having built his identity as a servant, having spent his life fighting his Master’s wars, and having sacrificed so much. He was thrown away like garbage.

In the fighting, he managed to slay a few of the would be loyalists, fleeing off with a small handful of others that had been marked for death to hide. Covering his brothers in arms, he held off a handful of hunters only to be left for dead in the end. Even those he had protected simply left him when his throat was slashed by a lightsaber. The blade scarred his face and severely damaged his throat, cutting his trachea and esophagus, burning his vocal cords and larynx. Plasma leaked from the blade into the wound, which in his agony he accidentally breathed into his lungs burning him from the inside out. But he survived.

Part of his jaw severed, face bearing a scar from under his left eye to his collar bone, his lungs burnt from the inside, his throat severely damaged by fire and damage, the man that would become Vigilus survived only by draining rats of their life energy in the sewers. He managed to hang on to life for three days, clinging to the only motivation he had left, using the Force to breath and keep himself awake. He managed to crawl his way through the sewers towards freedom and escape, stumbling across the path of Tyrus. Unfortunately, not even the powerful Master was able to heal him, however Tyrus managed to stabilize the young man with Dark Magics, and flee with his body using makeshift breathing machines to ensure his survival.

When they finally found a proper medical staff, the young man had failed to heal for so long the doctors were able to do very little for him. They attempted to numb his pain, and managed to make it bearable, however it would always persist. When offered prosthetic, he refused them, preferring the use of a mask and breathing apparatus rather than massive surgical replacement of his chest cavity. One of the doctors took pity on the young man and left with the Warlord to see to Vigilus's care, administering bacta and numbing agents to his wound during his meditations.

The ordeal left the young man broken, ravaged and in constant pain. He cast off his old identity and took up the title Vigilus, and took to wearing a mask that eased his suffering and saved his life. Once passionate and devout, Vigilus is a survivor, expressionless and dour. Vigilus’s ability to trust his superiors has been severely damaged, however Tyrus risked his own self several times, and so the young man remains with the Warlord, however secretly he has made resolutions to owe allegiance to himself and his own quest for power.
