Mutism: several years ago his ancestors had their tongues ripped out by the Empire, during an incursion they made. They did that to intimidate the natives of the village, and discourage insurgence of rebellions. Several generations later the result was that, said mutilation became tradition to the village he was born. Specially because the male youngsters were usually taken by the Empire to serve. So whenever they reach age 8 or 10, they had their tongues removed. He does know how to read or write, but whenever he tries to "talk" all that comes out are "weird sounds and noises".
Antisocial: As a rule of thumb, he learned that "better by yourself, than in bad company". Which makes him prone to choose stay in that way. But it doesn't mean he dislikes people, he doesn't hate other beings, aliens or near-humans. He just had a harsh life that taught him that: often other people would screw you up, sooner or later. So he became too sceptical for trusting and bonding with others. He will always try to get along with everybody as much as he seems fit. But will naturally and instinctively favour himself over others, no matter who or what. Which makes him come off as "a bad guy" very often.
Known Dark Past: from ages 11 to 25 he served the Empire. In the beginning in maintenance and sanitation, and later as a Imperial Trooper. Serving the military he participated in several operations and missions, that were consider important to his commanders. Some massacres and executions were held by him and his fellow squad-mates. He was member of the IT-3487 Squad, sometimes dubbed "The Mayhem Men". In said squad, before defect, he had reach the rank of First Sergeant. For had been member of that squad, and a defector, he is moderately known for some people - mostly Imperials and some Bounty Hunters, and sometimes civilians that came across with the squad at some point.
