STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Droid: TIE/D Vultures are completely autonomous droid fighters, no longer requiring any sort of organic pilot to operate the starcraft
  • Expendable: TIE/D Vultures are completely and utterly expendable, since they lack any sort of onboard organic pilot at all
  • Inexpensive: The TIE/D Vulture is a supremely inexpensive starfighter to manufacture, allowing the droid fighter to be produced in enormous numbers
  • High performing: The lack of any organic pilot allows the TIE/D Vulture to achieve speeds and perform maneuvers that would normally be impossible for nearly any living being, short of a Jedi or other force sensitive
  • Flexible: The ability to switch between "flight" and "walker" modes gives the TIE/D Vulture a degree of tactical flexibility rarely seen in other comparable starfighters
WEAKNESSES
  • Dumb: Though relatively "smarter" than the original TIE Vulture, the TIE/D Vulture is a relatively dumb starfighter overall, since it uses the least expensive droid brain that the N&Z Umbrella Corporation offers for sale
  • Expendable: Though it is a relatively capable craft, the nature of the TIE/D Vulture often causes commanders to use it solely as an expendable unit
  • Modest firepower: Much like its predecessor does, the TIE/D Vulture too possesses only relatively modest firepower, and even less so when in "walker" mode
  • Frail: The TIE/D Vulture is a rather frail starfighter in general, as it does not possess any sort of deflector shields and only minimal armor plating
  • No hyperdrive: The TIE/D Vulture also lacks any sort of hyperdrive, forcing it to rely on other ships for long range transportation
DESCRIPTION

Though the original TIE Vulture proved to be an immensely useful starfighter for the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, the spacecraft was not without its downsides. Compared to organic pilots, TIE Vultures were quite simply unable to keep up with the skills and tactics of living beings, causing the Imperial Remnant to consider developing a successor to the design. Ultimately, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant would create not one but two designs, the second one being created with the assistance of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation.

Compared to Du'thra Engineering's version of the droid fighter, the TIE/D Vulture emphasizes low cost and ease of manufacture over significant tactical processing power. This makes the TIE/D Vulture supremely cheap to produce, allowing it to be built in enormous numbers when compared to similar droid starfighters. Unfortunately, this does mean that the TIE/D Vulture is only marginally more intelligent than its predecessor, limiting its overall ability to engage in combat with organic pilots.

Whether or not the TIE/D Vulture is less or more effective than its direct rival, the TIE Strider, remains unclear, as both droid starfighters do offer roughly similar performance and maintain similar drawbacks in their designs. Regardless, the TIE/D Vulture is an excellent option for any naval force looking to supplement their reserves or quickly produce qualified pilots without having to go through all the time and effort of training organic beings for the job.
