- Capable of switching between two modes of locomotion:
- "Flight" Mode
- "Walker" Mode
- Droid: TIE Striders are completely autonomous droid fighters, no longer requiring any sort of organic pilot to operate the starcraft
- Smarter: Compared to the original TIE Vulture, the TIE Strider is much more intelligent than its predecessor, thanks to its more advanced Quantum Droid Brain Matrix
- Expendable: TIE Striders are completely and utterly expendable, since they lack any sort of onboard organic pilot at all
- High performing: The lack of any organic pilot allows the TIE Strider to achieve speeds and perform maneuvers that would normally be impossible for nearly any living being, short of a Jedi or other force sensitive
- Flexible: The ability to switch between "flight" and "walker" modes gives the TIE Strider a degree of tactical flexibility rarely seen in other comparable starfighters
- Relatively smarter: Though a definitive improvement from the base TIE Vulture, the TIE Strider still cannot match unpredictability, tactical flexibility and intelligence of organic pilots
- Expendable: Though it is a relatively capable craft, the nature of the TIE Strider often causes commanders to use it solely as an expendable unit
- Modest firepower: Much like its predecessor does, the TIE Strider too possesses only relatively modest firepower, and even less so when in "walker" mode
- Frail: The TIE Strider is a rather frail starfighter in general, as it does not possess any sort of deflector shields and only minimal armor plating
- No hyperdrive: The TIE Strider also lacks any sort of hyperdrive, forcing it to rely on other ships for long range transportation
Though the original TIE Vulture proved to be an immensely useful starfighter for the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, the spacecraft was not without its downsides. Compared to organic pilots, TIE Vultures were quite simply unable to keep up with the skills and tactics of living beings, causing the Imperial Remnant to consider developing a successor to the design. Ultimately, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant would create not one but two designs, the first one being created with the assistance of Du'thra Engineering.
When compared to its predecessor, the newly created TIE Strider is far more capable and intelligent, thanks to its much upgraded Quantum Droid Brain Matrix and Calacholil Operating System. These new systems allows the TIE Strider to "think" far more quickly than the TIE Vulture ever could, enabling it to better adapt to shifting battlefield conditions and unusual tactics of organic pilots. The TIE Strider can likewise initiate even more complex strategies, making it far more dangerous than the TIE Vulture ever was.
Unfortunately, though it is still a marked improvement over its predecessor, the TIE Strider still cannot entirely match its organic opponents in regard to skill and ability, though the craft is much better at being able to keep up with them and to learn and adapt to its enemies' tactics. That being said, the TIE Strider is an excellent supplementary option for any naval force looking to increase the size of its available reserves without having to go through the trouble of recruiting and training organic beings.
