Jasper sat back and listened. He often did. Even as a leader, the knight was not one to be the outspoken voice. After all, things were being said already that he could add nothing else to. Sometimes it was a strength to let others say their peace. There was something he could add, however, though less so an explination.

"Perhaps you should speak with Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic ," he mused. "She's a Jedi Knight... but she also utilizes witchcraft, that of the Dathomiri. If you want a more experienced voice on the matter, you may want to seek her out. Explanation is always valuable... but I tend to find I understand things far better with first-hand experience."

"Getting back on topic, a meld is a perfect idea. Bonding with your crystal, making your mind and it's one so you might communicate with it. Of all things, it should actually be the easiest for us to bond with."

"Cool," Jasper shrugged, cracking a grin. "I'll take it."

He had sorta just been improvising based on things he already knew. It didn't help that lower force sensitivity made things of that caliber more theoretical to him, but he was at least knowledgeable.

Shan would be lying if he said he didn't feel a small sense of pride in being right about the intent of things deciding whether or not they could be good or evil...but he didn't want to get too prideful over it. Pride before the fall and everything. It was an interesting thing to think about to himself at the end of the day however. People's different intents and thoughts...Their codes and morality. Though he shook his head, trying to stay focused on the lesson at hand. Philosophy was fun to think about, but rarely something he could use practicality.

The idea of melding with his crystal was...something that Shan honestly didn't know how to do if he was being honest to himself. It hadn't been something he had studied on yet but he'd be able to learn it sooner or later. For now, he was just going to stick to his idea of trying to build a force barrier with his crystal. Just opening himself up to the crystal and focusing on how he felt when he first found the crystal. The Padawan just closed his eyes and tried to just feel for his crystal in the dark. Letting the green glow of the crystal fill his mind, whilst at the same time keeping his ears open in case there was any more advice from the others taking part.

Bonding with her crystal.

Valery could do that, and didn't waste anymore time. She sat down in a meditative position, brought her lightsaber up and gently opened it up to reveal the crystal inside the chamber. This particular one had been retrieved a long time ago, shortly after her face had been scarred as a Padawan. As a result, her bond to it was already very strong, but it had been augmented beyond that since then.

After the Battle of Jedha, where Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble had briefly appeared to save her life from an exploding SIA blacksite when he was still tainted by the Dark Side, she had imbued her crystals with the Force. She had used her own strength to do it, but also her hope for him to make his way back, and seeing him there again after what they were going through at the time had given her so much more strength.

Now, she wasn't looking to change anything about the crystal, but simply... bond, communicate. Tap into those echoes of the past, and let it all flow through her. From there, perhaps she could find a way to manifest something as an extension of those feelings; of the crystal itself.

"I'm feeling something," Valery said, but the deeper she focused, the more she also felt another familiar presence. It wasn't just her crystal, but she felt Kahlil's too?

Jonyna watched Valery Noble Valery Noble , floating her own crystal over.

Meditation was never a strong suit of hers, something that often fell by the wayside in her trainings. Zena saw it as a waste of time, Sylvar always seemed to put it off, and her mother advocated for something more akin to practiced kata. But...she reached out, feeling with the force. It took the Cathar a moment, adjusting to the force crystals she had chosen. Focus on the one. Your mother's.

She could feel something, causing her to jump. A memory, a soul.

"...what exactly is our crystals supposed to feel like?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil hummed in thought as he watched the others reach out to their crystals. Try to form a bond. In truth Kahlil wasn't sure how exactly it worked either. His bond with Valery was an accident more than anything else. A happy one at that, but one he wasn't sure how was made or how it developed as strong as it did. He knew what it felt like, but it was just like whistling. You could say just make your lips in a certain way, but it didn't really explain how to do it.

Grant it, Valery already seemed to feel something. He raised a brow, glancing to her. Then smiled. Nodded as he closed his eyes and decided to follow her lead and feel what she felt. The crystals, both of theirs. Alive, yet dormant. Asleep. Always willing to help their Jedi, yet never sentient enough to speak. So... Give them a voice. A body. Or at least a spirit. He hummed as he raised a hand, slowly pulling on the web of the Force around them all. Along the cords he could feel, as he pulled and weaved until he felt something reach out to him. Not one, two consciousness.

".. Fascinating."

He opened his eyes as he let out a breath of air. One that puffed like it was cold outside, yet it clearly wasn't. He glanced down to the gem in his palm, though there wasn't a gem there any longer. At least, not just the gem. He chuckled a little as he watched the cold blue spirit in his hands yawn and stretch.

"Well, hello there."

Even though Kahlil followed her lead at first, it was Valery who trailed behind and followed suit soon after. She had felt something and understood they had to connect with the crystals, but Kahlil found the path far more easily. To give a voice to something that could feel and respond through the bond — that's what she had to do. Her eyes remained closed, her body stayed relaxed and as she felt something form through her bond with him, she pulled on those exact same cords.

In the Force, they were one.

Within the palm of her hand, Valery watched a bright, fiery spirit form. It looked excited, and began to run around through the air, not mindlessly, but towards its own other half. The blue spirit in Kahlil's hand was quickly tackled by Valery's familiar, before it started running circles around the other. Valery blinked and glanced at her husband with a sheepish smile, already expecting him to tease her about this.

Of course, her familiar had to be the chaotic one.

But there was more to it than behavior. The two spirits were connected as well, much like how Valery and Kahlil were. Even after all these years, it was wonderful to know that she could still learn more about their bond.

"Heh... I think mine likes to play."

Shan just kept his focus on the crystal. Trying to focus on the bond between him and the crystal, whilst also trying to focus on part of himself. He had no experiences of combat or fighting that he shared with the crystal, but there was one thing that he could connect to the crystal with. His enjoyment of lessons, knowledge, peace. Making things that are intangible, tangible in his mind. Letting them mix together and form. It felt strange to him, working on forming a shape for his crystal.

Though it felt less like he was forming the shape for it, and it was choosing its own shape. Whilst he was mixing his connections together, it felt like the crystal was doing the same. Slowly but surely forming into a solid shape. Or well, as solid as the Force Barrier Shan had been trying to use would become. Slowly forming from the bottom up as Shan kept his eyes closed, his familiar building in structure. A small set of wings, ruffling away alongside a pair of bright glowing blue eyes staring out from Shan's hand.

Perhaps it was because of Shan's inexperience with the crystal, or lack of memories to build upon, but the familiar was actually quite...Small in size and stature. In time, it may grow from Shan's experiences, like the Mirialan will himself, but as Shan opened his eyes, none of that mattered to him. His face just broke out into a wide grin as he tried to give his little familiar some little head scratches. It just gave a little trill and hopped up onto Shan's shoulder to look around and take in the surroundings.

Jasper would experience a connection with his stone a bit differently. Strange images would fill his mind, blotches most of them. Abstract and bizarre, and from them he could glean no meaning. Then he felt it, a connection formed between himself and his crystal. When one went through life with limited force connection, it was easier to tell when someone latched on to you. He would always feel a little bit more aware.

The knight glanced down to the palm of his hand. The spirit was avian, grey and wispy, far more translucent than the others that had appeared. There was something notable about the form it had taken, however. The avian looked similar to that of a seafaring bird, creatures who lived their lives entirely out on and above the ocean, never once returning to land other than to make a home for their young. They weren't often seen at sea, aside from right before a storm. An omen of bad tidings to come, or more accurately a warning. But did this mean anything? Jasper had to guess that it most likely didn't, but he had to wonder.

"Hey there," Jasper greeted with a grin. "Looks like you and I have some things to figure out."

Everything would probably be fine...

Right?

Jonyna looked to the others. She could do this. Trying once more, she closed her eyes, surrendering herself to the Force. Allowing only her connection to her crystal into her perception, only to be greeted with a pair of old eyes. It scared her at first, but she kept at it.

"You're quite a ways away from Cathar, aren't you?" A voice rang through her head, able to be heard throughout the minds of anyone who was listening. A woman's voice, much older than Jonyna's, a little husky in tone. That caused Jonyna to once again recoil, but she kept going. A connection formed, Jonyna feeling it as a massive striped beast, black in color and glowing with blue stripes formed in front of her. The Cathar stared, tilting her head, causing the beast to tilt it's head in return.

"....mom?" Jonyna finally asked, before the beast shifted in form.

"Not quite." The Ghost smiled, looking to the Cathar. "More...an echo. A memory. Your mother long ago became one with the Force. I am simply...what remains within your crystal." She chuckled, bringing a hand up to Jonyna's head, at first looking like she was going to pet her long displaced daughter, only to bonk her on the head lightly with a closed fist. "Now introduce your mother to your friends, Syn'ya."

"Oh! Um...yeah. Uh..."
She looked to the others. "...This is my mom...I guess?"

"Cici Si, Former Sentinel. Shadow, to be exact." The ghost did a polite curtsy. Even at 1000 years old, she had her manners still.

If it could grumble, it certainly looked like Kahlil's own would. Kahlil just chuckled, watching them play for a brief moment longer before glancing up towards Valery with a grin. "That's what we'll call it, sure. They certainly seem to take on parts of our personalities. At least ours do. The others are.. Different." Unique. Sith Familiars were always the same, always identical. But these were different, and drastically so.

"I'd call this a success, though."

Watching her familiar pounce on his was pretty funny, but naturally, it sparked Kahlil to comment about it with a wide grin on his face. The one he always had right as he was about to tease her. "Take parts of our personalities, hm?" She looked at her chaotic little familiar playing with his and perked a brow. "Trying to tell me something, love?" She flashed a grin of her own now, and looked back in time to see the familiars beginning to move together through the room.

It was definitely a success.

"I agree, and this is just the beginning. We'll have to figure out how we can make use of this while still respecting the bond with our crystals. We can't just use these to satisfy our own needs at the expense of the crystal." It likely made it more complex than Sith familiars, but it was worth looking into.

A Jedi's path was all about learning and exploring more about the Force, but within reason.
