Public Thirsty Dreams in a Cup [Darkwire, et al.]

6RWhQio.png

It's a special night at the Speaksoft Speakeasy.

Most patrons aren't familiar with the owner of the establishment, which popped up sometime after the Corporate raid on the Blueflame. It became a popular locale for the underworld rats that scattered after CAD became a bit brazen with their militant stance on criminal organizations like Darkwire. The owner ensured it was much more difficult to find for those not "in the know." After making multiple deals with some unrelated shops across the district, along with the residences in the lower levels, the Anzellan called Yatta Yadda got to work re-programming construction drones that built elaborate tunnels between levels of the ecumenopolis.

Now, it was the latest hotspot for the drinking business and illicit trade, all without any licenses or traces to corporate holotrails.

And tonight was Lottery night, and you've won!

"Eeey eeey! Luky winah, pikah colah pikah colah!" The small Yatta Yadda summons you before his drink-making countertop, where he is seated on a napkin holder, demanding a color from you.

Guidelines:
  1. You've won a lottery to have a drink made for you by eccentric Speakeasy owner Yatta Yadda! Post yourself encountering the diminutive Anzellan, and roll a 6 sided die!
  2. You will receive a special drink from Yatta Yadda, who makes it in front of you in a grand performance! There is no need to pay, but everyone before you has put in unusually generous tips, some as high as 500% of the average drink cost! Yatta Yadda accepts tips in UCks.
  3. If you roll a 1, you are absolutely mind-bendingly hammered by your specially made stellar beverage; too bad you won't remember it! If you roll a 6, the drink is excellent, but you get the feeling Yatta Yadda took you for a lightweight and eased up on the actual alcohol content... or maybe he just doesn't like you. Feel free to explore the various levels of drunkenness!
  4. The last one sober "wins" and gets to be the designated driver. Maybe you'll be rewarded for the trouble ;)
  5. Feel free to be a spectator, place bets, or even try and steal drinks. Up to you!

Ruby entered the establishment, eyes already set and narrow. She was used to the Blueflame by now, and she was adverse to change. Even something as simple as a new bar felt like a stretch. But whatever... she'd somehow won some free drinks. And if there was free stuff, Ruby was there. Now, maybe she could charm her way to some free Endorian chicken wings, too. Now, that'd be a great night.

Looking around, Ruby didn't immediately spot anyone that she knew. That could be a good thing... or not.

As she made her way in, she felt the little stare of an Anzellan on her. He was tiny, like, he must need to stand on some crates or something just to see over the bartop. Well, tonight it looked like he was perched on a napkin holder. Whatever works, right? "Uh, hi," she said, approaching. "I heard I win a drink or something." Ruby sat on a stool but found herself edging away from the barkeep's soul-deep stare.

He nodded, seemingly decided.

Ruby watched as her drink was being made -- lots of little bottles being tossed up and about, some colored liquid, some smoke.... something bubbly, some shaking, and some ice. And a little umbrella. Cool. That was the best part. She eyed the tall glass as it was set down before her.

Yatta Yadda looks Ruby Jaxx Ruby Jaxx up and down and nodded.

"No picah colah? Yatta yadda picah purpa! Yess yess!"

He then gets right to work, surprisingly nimble and acrobatic, leaping from counter to bottle, from shaker to the floor, back to the counter again. At certain moments and eyes things strangely, like he's looking at individual bubbles, before pouring things in. Chaotically measured, but with precision.

"Caffle caffle, bigga drink for bigga you! You wannagin, ask Scaleys Baileys! Now tip, tip, eeeey!" A little hand clasped open and closed as the other beckoned the next lottery winner...

"Picah colah, picah colah!"

Ivory strode into the bar from the hidden entrance, hopping down the last few steps of the stairs in a joyous romp. The raven-haired rebel approached the bar, giving Ruby Jaxx Ruby Jaxx an upward nod of greeting, then turned her beautifully exotic violet eyes toward the small Anzellan who was looking at her with big black eyes. She winked at the diminutive creature. The bar had a few patrons elsewhere, but this special lottery seemed to be quite the exclusive event. She hoped she'd see more of her friends there as the night wore on; this was bound to be fun.

Eyeing Ruby's drink curiously, she seemed disappointed. "Well, I guess you already got my color..." She said, then turned her head back to Yatta Yadda. She grinned, replying to his request for a color: "Green!"

Then, she reached into her pocket and removed a credit chit - setting it down on the bar and sliding it with a single finger toward the host of the night.

"Good good, picah colah green good yess." Yatta Yadda remarked excitedly, while rubbing his hands together in front of Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud .

"Yatta Yadda gotta justa ting!" Immediately the tiny tapster scrambled into a freezer, and pulled something out. Clear liquids in one glass, bit of something in another, throw into a shaker, throw out, there might have been a blender involved.

"Dis be a goodin, drink up drink up enjoyo! Swallow swallow all da Squidbobbah!"

"Nexta picah colah!"
What shall the next lottery winner receive?

Ruby gave the little barkeep a small nod, her eyes still on the purple drink. But the tiny empty palm of the Anzellan didn't go unnoticed. "Uh," she dug around in her pocket. "Here." She handed him a single credit chip and some lint.

The new patron, Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud made a comment about her drink. "Oh, yeah?" she said, shrugging. She hadn't ordered purple, but that's what she ended up with. "It looks... very purple." She couldn't think of any other way to describe it.

With another shrug of her shoulders, she took a sip. It burned her throat like poison. "Ugh." But Ruby wasn't about to back down just yet. She took another sip, bigger than the last. Hey, it wasn't so bad. And another sip proved that the drink was... pleasant. Actually, it was better than that. It might have been the best drink she'd ever had.

"Shhh-not-too-bad," Ruby said, the words almost seemed to dribble out of her mouth. Or was she drooling?

Brie had been caught in confusion as she recieved the message on her datapad about a prize won. A free drink of sorts, and at a place she had not been to and much less heard of before. She couldn't recall that she had been participating in a lottery recently, and thinking about it trying to figure it out didn't help much. It only made her curiosity grow. Why had she won? Who had her number? What was so special about this drink that you sent cryptic messages to people obviously not knowing about your place? What kind of place was it, even?

With eyes open and ears perked, Brie entered the establishment after having showed the message to a bouncer at the door. She wore nothing too fancy for the night, sticking with light blue denim trousers, a white/navy striped sweater and a light blue denim jacket. She had put more work into her hair though, remembering Daiya's teases but also advices about her blonde tuft. It was newly cut to about shoulder lenght. Wavy, voluminous and wild but with purpose.

The loud alien voice of an Anzellan struggling to speak basic reached her, and she spotted a familiar figure by the bar which the little alien was busy making drinks at.

''Hi, Ruby!'' she cheerfully greeted her sister as she passed behind and took a seat beside her. ''What is this place? You got the message, too?'' Brie added with an upward nod at Ruby's purple drink before her. She gave a short wave and a friendly smile at the woman on the other side of Ruby.

Brie felt an odd stare and jumped to slightly as she noticed that it came from the Anzellan, apparently waiting for her order.

''Oh! Uh... Surprise me! Anything except Port In A Storm!'' she said, smiling sweetly at the small and funny speaking alien.

"Oh chit, she's here already!" Daiya muttered to herself as she tracked the blonde-haired scrapper through her first steps into the speakeasy. The young shadowrunner turned back to her quarry, a mopey Ryn who spent his time stroking the long, white facial hair. She hoped that meant he was seriously considering her proposal, and it wasn't simply a grooming ritual. Daiya pulled her face long, adopting a longing gaze on eyes that quivered in his direction. "Please? It's a good deal."

A considering sound came from the Ryn, but his face remained indecipherable. The desperate teen leaned in on it, pushing the credit chit his way. "Come ooonnn, you said you come in here all the time, don't you?" After a moment, the Ryn finally rewarded her efforts with a hard-earned nod. "Great! Then this is no big deal, you'll get another shot. But my best friend's leaving after today, and I promised I'd show her a good time on Denon! And what better way than a custom drink by Yatta Yadda?"

The lies came easily to Daiya's lips, even as the emotion was genuine. It truly was a desperate plea for her, though not for her best friend. When Brie had mentioned the winning ticket, sent to her through some anonymous message, her younger friend couldn't help but feel a stroke of envy at the countless times she had tried and failed to win at the very same lottery. Desperate to share in Brie's revelry that night, Daiya decided her best way was simply to buy someone else's privilege.

She slid the credit chit closer to the Ryn, "Isn't it worth a hundred Ucks to see a girl's happiness? And both in your favor!"

His hand stopped stroking the hair on his face, and for a moment Daiya thought she had lost the whole affair. A sigh escaped the crestfallen teen, and then a gasp as the Ryn's hand came down upon hers. He held up the drink ticket between the fingers of his other hand, and Daiya reached for it with a gleeful grin. It soured as the Ryn pulled back the ticket, not moving his other hand from on top of hers. "Two hundred."

Daiya scoffed and rolled her eyes at the stalwart bargainer before her. "Wow. What a way to put a girl down...fine!" the young shadowrunner agreed, fishing around in her pocket for another slip. She pulled it out and glanced at it, then dug for another. Two more fifty credit chits came down upon the table, her hand quickly snatching the ticket from the Ryn before he could drive the bargain any higher. "So not a pleasure doing business with you, remind me to let you get drunk first next time."

The Ryn flashed a set of uncanny teeth in her direction, and Daiya dashed out of the booth as fast as she could. At the bar, the Jaxx sisters had joined forces in tandem seats, where the blonde-and-pink-haired teen slipped between them with an arm across Brie's shoulder —and under the length of her new 'do. "You both won a ticket?!" Now the teen was really jealous, but a satisfied grin lurked over her face. "Talk about your lucky sisterhood..."

Daiya giggled and leaned in to place her ticket down between them, making a suggestion of, "Something pink, pretty please?" to the tiny bartender.

She shrugged off the feeling of the Ryn's eyes boring holes through her back.

Ruby gave the little barkeep a small nod, her eyes still on the purple drink. But the tiny empty palm of the Anzellan didn't go unnoticed. "Uh," she dug around in her pocket. "Here." She handed him a single credit chip and some lint.

"Whaaa Yatta Yadda wokinfefree? Yatta Yadda is, butnohafta lettim know!" The disgruntled alien pocketed the chip, and ate the lint. "Mmmm, good fashons!" He commented and gave them a thumbs-up, seemingly over the social transgression already.

"Nexta picah colah!"

''Oh! Uh... Surprise me! Anything except Port In A Storm!'' she said, smiling sweetly at the small and funny speaking alien.

"No Porta Storm? Eeeey eeey, Yatta Yadda getcha bettah! Getcha umbreya!" Quickly, the Anzellan leaped to a different freezer from before and began to grab fruits the size of his head. At one point there was a syringe at least his own size involved injecting one of the fruits, and despite riding it like a burden animal, everyone was surprised the needle didn't snap.

Belazura_Twister.jpg

"Da do da! Luka da twista! Belazooa Twista! Caffle caffle, makastomakaboom!" A big smile etched on his face, a tiny palm outstretched towards Brie.

"Gotta linta?" The bartender glanced between the Jaxx sisters.

"Nexta picah colah!"

Daiya giggled and leaned in to place her ticket down between them, making a suggestion of, "Something pink, pretty please?" to the tiny bartender.

"Eeeey prettypretty, you gotcha!" Now Yatta Yadda jumped onto a cart that started carrying him one way down the bar where he grabbed a few select nozzles and pulled them to bring the cart the other way. Back to the glass, he through the nozzles in and syrups began spraying. Then he clamored back to the freezer that had the Squidbobber, and dropped some round things and other stuff in there.

"Heeeeeeeey," Ruby said, turning to find Brie Jaxx Brie Jaxx now on the bar stool next to her. She reached over to give Brie a one-sided hug and almost fell off her stool. A laugh escaped her and she grabbed the counter for support. Clearly, the drink was already working its magic. She continued to sip from her tall glass as her younger sister ordered from the little barman. Soon, there was a pretty orange drink next to her mostly gone purple one. And, more patrons had come to redeem their drinks, too.

"Whoaaaa,"
she said. "Look itsshhhhh Daaaaaiyaaaaa." Another giggle. Hiccup. Ruby's cheeks were red and her face started to feel like it might be going numb. But in a good way. Her shoulders weren't tense anymore either. In fact, she felt pretty darn loose.

"Drink! Drink! Drink!"
Ruby started to chant, oblivious to whether or not anyone chose to join in.

Cartri had been chilling at home after a long workout on the mats, laying on his sofa with a cold cup of water and a wacky horror movie that wasn't doing the best job in scaring him. Suddenly, a buzz came from his datapad which notified him of winning a lottery, something of which he never remembered entering at all. Tilting his head, he thought it was some kind of scam at first, but when he recognised it was from The Speaksoft he couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.

Throwing on a smartish attire he made his way to the Speaksoft and walked through the entrance of the cozy establishment, instantly noticing three familiar woman who somewhat made his life miserable, as well as one that seemed to be Brie's sister. Offering them a polite wave he walked up to the bar first and looked down to the puny alien, who seemed to be the bartender for tonight. After asking him to pick a color, Cartri pondered for a few seconds before finally making his mind up.

"Uhh... Orange please if you don't mind"

Brie laughed along lightly with Ruby, as her sister almost fell off the stool during the daring hugging maneuvre. The liquor had already started to get a grip around her older sister and Brie, not having got her drink yet, were still very sober. This was going to be an interesting night, getting under the influence together with her sister for the first time and she could not decide if she were more worried than expectant of that event. Coming to think about it, Brie had never been drunk! That was such an odd feeling! How would she react to the drink the little Anzellan now was starting to pour up in front of her? What if she made a fool out of herself? What if she said something she would not have in a sober state?

All her questions, and thoughts about keeping it piano tonight, were swiftly wiped away when a familiar voice spoke up behind them.

"You both won a ticket?! Talk about your lucky sisterhood..."

Okay!? Daiya!? She were definitely going to be - What did they call it in her youth holobooks? Stoned? - tonight. Brie would need to remind the pink-haired shadowrunner to keep away from Port In A Storms, though!

''I guess so!'' Brie replied to her best friend and gave her a tight hug.
''I already told the bartender not to serve us any Port In A Storms!'' she whispered with a giggle during the hug, before letting go and examined her own yellow, orange and pink drink with a cute umbrella on the top. It looked delicious and Brie examined as she would have with a rare piece of tech she would be afraid to touch to fast. The careful study of the drink would surely have looked funny, before she actually picked the glass up and took a sniff and sip out of it. It was fruity! Sweet and fruity! Very hard to tell how much alcohol there was in it! Question was if that was a bad or good thing?

In the corner of her eye, Brie spotted the one and only ginger boy of Darkwire - Cartri Keswoll Cartri Keswoll .

''Of course, ginger boy got to get an orange drink!'' she remarked and mischievously glanced over at Daiya, sparing her sister a glance too. It was always fun to pull the boys leg, and even more so after he had declared his love for her best friend down in the Abyss of Denon. Since Froswythe, Brie had learned to reconcile with his humor and after his birthday party they were more on the same page as individuals. Who would bother the kriff out of them, if not Cartri? Besides, she could not be mad at her best friends boyfriend, could she?

Brie eventually, after a few moments of observing her best friend and Ruby, fell into her sisters chant of ''drink, drink, drink!''.

''Drink, drink, drink!''

Slowly, the group had filtered in and ordered their drinks; the buzz of conversation in the Speaksoft Speakeasy rising higher. Ivory giggled as she sipped her Squidbobber - a fascinating concoction which tickled the senses. The drink had a remarkably fruity, herbal flavor and was dangerously easy to drink - enough that she already decided she'd likely want another.

Ruby Jaxx Ruby Jaxx and Brie Jaxx Brie Jaxx , whom Ivory had only met in passing, were seated just a few stools down. Daiya Daiya had also joined the party and Ivory threw a wink in the Shadowrunner's direction; raising her glass in a silent toast. The raven-haired rebel could already feel a buzzing in her skull after a few sips as the alchemical skill of the tiny bartender worked its magic. "That's a pretty color..." She remarked toward Daiya's own choice of refreshment.

Ivory laughed at Ruby's near-tumble from her bar stool, and pointed with a finger from the hand holding her glass: "Get this woman another drink!"

At Cartri Keswoll Cartri Keswoll 's arrival, Ivory grinned at him, flipping the young man the universal sign of friendship in a jesting way. "I bet you can't finish that in one gulp, there, Knuckles." She used Daiya's nickname for him on a whim - teasing the pickpocket.

She joined the chant of "Drink, Drink, Drink!" alongside Ruby and Brie, tapping her glass on the bar-top with a rhythmic thud to the beat.

"Uhh... Orange please if you don't mind"

"Likyahair! Mmmm good good taste, gotcha!"

Bouncing once more into the fruit freezer, half of his body went inside, leaving only his overalled hind quarters exposed to the audience. He shook it around as he spent some time collecting what he needed.

Hopping to the countertop with a meiloorun, Yatta Yadda began to core it with a kitchen utensil that looked more like a swirly pike in his capable hands. A minute would pass before suddenly it would seem he was done, and tossed the implement at the base of the glass tipping it over, allowing Yatta Yadda to slide under and keep it from falling. Using his legs, he pulled in a salt shaker beneath the glass and kept it stabilized at an angle. Then, he sprinted over to the fruit, leapt into the air, and gave it the elbow of justice with his whole body, the juices squirting out the hole in an arc into the glass.

"Bingo!" He yelled with his arms raised up like a goal post.

After some applause, with the juices added and mixed, he took a moment to decorate it with a floating island with a faux-palm-tree on it.

Island_Fantasy_TradingCard.jpg

"Yatta tada! Gettah shippan sail-sail to Islandah Fantasiah!"

"Now tippah tippah, Yatta Yadda make nap-nap."
An eager hand outstretched towards Cartri Keswoll Cartri Keswoll while Yatta Yadda looked away and snapped towards one of the regular bartenders to pass over an inch sized glass towards their boss for him to drink.

"Ha... thank you..."

Cartri said with a shine in his eyes. The drink itself looked amazing, something that could only be crafted by the finest of bartenders. Although, before he could even get a sip of the drink the ever annoying Brie Jaxx Brie Jaxx commentated on how he choose an orange drink. Of course, she would be the first to insult his gingerness "I find it quite fitting, don't you think?" he chuckles out as he walks over to the rowdy women with his tasty drink in hand.

As he came up to them, he heard the unmistakable voice of Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud saying the dreaded nickname Daiya Daiya had placed on him. The word alone caused him to roll his eyes in annoyance and grip the brew tighter, determined to prove Ivory and the rest of the girls wrong "Fine! watch and learn ladies!" Cartri said confidently to all of them, slowly bringing the glass up to his lips and pouring the alcoholic beverage down his throat.

The teen didn't seem to down it in one gulp, but instead three in quick succession. In a matter of seconds, the drink had been downed, leaving only the shiny empty glass in its wake. At the very end Cartri placed the glass on the table and looked unsteady for a brief moment. His arms raised slightly to regain his composure as he shot a wide grin to everyone in front of him "Now that's... how you down a brew!" at the very end Cartri burped and shook his head to regain some of his senses "Go on Grandma, I want to see you do one now!"

Laughing proudly his eyes rested on Daiya, who also seemed like she was having a good time with the rest of the shadow runners "You too, Daiya. We're going to make this a night to remember!" The teen said warmly, providing her with a respectful nod in unison.

The eldest Jaxx sister was already more than wasted, and prompting a giggle from the giddy observer behind them. Daiya winked at her best friend, leaning into the hug as the scrapper girl's comforting arms wrapped around her. She just grinned at Brie's cunning, admiring the ever-growing confidence in her friend, even if it did come at the young shadowrunner's expense.

She took a seat next to Brie to watch the diminutive proprietor jump and dance through the sequence of creating drinks. First was a swirling, golden drink that Daiya thought she heard was named in honor of Belazura, and to her eyes it really looked it. A pang of guilt accompanied the young shadowrunner, assuaged somewhat by watching her friend appraise the drink too carefully, caution tempering her interest in taking a sip. Daiya nudged her friend, "What are you waiting for?"

Delight and mirth swirled on the teen's lip as Yatta Yadda rode an elaborate ride down the bar line to create her drink. She licked her lips in anticipation, her eyes growing wide at the glowing concoction slid down in front of her. Pink and fruity, the drink looked like someone had bottled her own soul and poured it out for her. "Oh my stars, this was SOOOO worth it!"

Daiya fished out some wadded lint from the corner of a pocket —apparently Yatta Yadda's currency of choice for the night— and placed it in the tiny proprietor's hands. "Thanks, it looks a-mazing!"

Just as she took hold of the drink, an encouraging chant broke out, driving the teen to take a sip, then a gulp, and by that point she needed no more encouragement. The drink was light, perhaps a bit too light, but incredibly refreshing. It felt like drinking a pink-flavored cloud, the wispy sort of clouds high in the sky that she loved to admire without the threat of rain. She pulled back before the drink was half gone, wanting to savor the moment. Attention was on Cartri anyway, and Daiya swiveled around her in chair to take part.

Daiya watched with curious anticipation as the ginger boy down the entirety of his drink, experience moving behind her lips. When he was done, and still upright, the teen allowed herself a grin at last, bursting with a giggle in Ivory's direction. "Looks like you bet wrong, Cartri can take a few more hits nowadays."

She sent a wink in his direction, pulling a few credit chits from her lint-free pocket. "I bet you that Cartri makes it 'til his third drink." Daiya waved a few before setting them on the bar counter, worth five hundred Ucks to match Ivory's bet. It was a big gamble, but she'd seen more of this new Cartri up close than any of them, it would be worth it to earn back the cost of the drink ticket. "Don't let me down, Cartri, I'm counting on you."

Not too surprisingly, Daiya had noticed Brie's funny looking examination of the drink and were quick to insist her to taste it. Which Brie had finally done, realising that the little Anzellan either was a master at hiding the strong taste of liquor or had fooled her with an alcohol-free one. She guessed it was not the latter, considering how under the influence her sister already was.

After having taken another sip of the dangerously sweet and easy drink, Brie started to randomly spin around on the stool, back and forth and doing full circles on it until Cartri replied to her comment and approached them. She halted her spinning with her back and elbows against the bar, and suddenly became all shamefaced.

''Uhh, yeah? It's a nice color...? I didn't mean anything by it...'' she said with a lowered head, blowing a strand of hair out of her face. It was never her intention to insult him for his hair color, it had slipped out of her, but she did start to feel a little... odd. Loose? Relaxed? Open? Bold? In a... pretty good way, that was!

Soon thereafter, Daiya took a few good gulps giving in to their chants and then the older woman spoke up and dared Cartri to finish his drink in one gulp. A sight Brie just had to see, making her peer up again and take another sip of her own drink in anticipation of Cartri's response.

"Fine! Watch and learn ladies!" he proclaimed with confidence, before doing his thing right in front of them. Was this how you did it? Drink? Downing it in just a few gulps? Apparently so, as Cartri were not late to challenge both the older woman and Daiya to do the same thing. Brie glanced down the glass which the Anzellan had beautifully decorated - umbrella and all. It was so pretty, but also so delicious! She hesitated to follow her friends example, instead just taking a healthier sip of the chilled fruity beverage. She could- No, she would order another one. Later.

''Hey, we need some snacks!'' Brie uttered and swiftly spun around to locate the Anzellan again.

''Y- yatta? Could we get a bowl of every snack that you got? Pleeease?'' she pleaded to the little alien, casually leaning on the bar counter, stretching out a hand with a good amount of credit chips in it that probably would cover the cost along with a tip. This drink definitely needed something to accompany it. Cartri would be right about one thing - tonight was going to be crazy! Brie laid down her chin on her arms folder upon the bar counter, moving her feet to the beat of the pop music in the background and softly smiling while she glanced at her friends and her sister. This was better than reading a holobook in solitude aboard her ship, alright.

"Another!" Ruby hollered, holding her now empty glass up to Ivory Stroud Ivory Stroud in a kind of salute. "I'll take whatever you got next, little guy." For another moment, she resumed her chanting. "Drink, drink, drink!"

Ruby was too busy being drunk to notice Cartri Keswoll Cartri Keswoll when he first came in and ordered himself a drink, in a very fitting color, too. But she did take notice when he approached, and she watched him tip his cup back and swallow all of his drink. Not bad, kid.

But she aimed a stink-eye at the ginger boy when she noticed Brie had stopping spinning 'round on her chair to address him. What was going on here? She'd missed out. Just in case, she narrowed her eyes enough to give off a protective 'don't mess with my little sister' vibe.

However, everything was pretty light-hearted – for once. There was no mission, no corpos, no life or death. This was it. Just drinking and being with friends (and family, in her case). Ruby'd heard Brie Jaxx Brie Jaxx order some snacks and she gave a nod.

"Got hot wings?" It was a very important question. "The hotter the better."

Ruby wanted to cry tonight. Cry from the spicy wings (if there were any to be had), not because of emotions, mind you.

Speaksoft Speakeasy . . .
A crowd of punks and skins entered the bar. Among the gathered was Hacks, conversing with a short but mean-looking skin with broad shoulders and tattoos covering most of his body. Hacks was wearing her usual clothes, black leather pants with combat boots. She wore a heavy, spiked leather jacket covered in the names of bands over a plain tech-hoodie. Her large glasses flashed orange across the inner screen and began routine analysis of those in the room. She ignored the stream of data that tried to cloud her vision.

The punks with her wore similar clothes, some with leopard print trimming on their battlevests or jackets. The skins were much neater, wearing plain collared shirts, smart jeans and clean boots. Braces worn over their shoulders or hung from their hips. Hacks turned her gaze to the crowd of the bar as she finished her conversation, looking for a place to get a drink. She spotted the crowd forming around what she assumed was a barkeep.

She chose a colour from the diminutive alien and watched him with amusement as he began to make her a drink. The crowd of punks and skins slowly peeled away from the shadowrunner and found their seats towards the back of the bar, talking among themselves.

Hex fiddled with the lottery stub nervously in her hand as she approached the door, why couldn't it be a cash lottery? She needed money more than free drink.

.....
"no, I'm not asking that, stay cool, you'll blow it."
.....
"because, OK! Shhh!...

She smile at the doorman as it was her turn to be ushered in and showed him her lottery ticket proudly as if it was an access pass. He smiled and shook his head amused and let the blue haired girl in. Inside was a classy Denon bar, the sort Hex had visited before with her old bosses, but not for a while, how many of her hidden credit caches were empty now? Too many? No money to spend on food, no money to spend on explosives to get money to buy food, no money for drink. she mused to herself as she approached the bar.

The tiny man stood on a stool and took her ticket before reaching round to get the ingredients put. Hex fiddled around with her last Party Popper on the bar as he shook glasses, poured ingredients and set fire to... something? Something that squeeked.

.....
Whispering "Fine, I'll ask him when he comes back."

He poured the drink and stood proudly waiting for her to drink it, probably also waiting for his tip.

"I don't have any money? This is free though right? ... I don't suppose you know anyone here looking to hire?" she asked the man in front of her, it was honest, she felt bad she couldn't throw tips about like the other patrons. Maybe she could get a well paid job then come back?

"This is nice by the way!"
