BX-25233

The original commando droid with a hat

BX-25233 liked the sound of a nice cape for himself but he knew if he head back to the dead saber cat the person he was assisting would surely perish from blood lose so BX-25233 had to sadly hold off from collecting a nice trophy for now "After Mission Objective is completed" it was only a matter of time till the droid and the organic reached Srina. BX-25233 watched as the one he called the "dread queen" which was a name he got from some of the few documents he had access to that mentioned Srina under the code name Dread Queen (which BX-25233 had no knowledge on whether that was one of her proper titles or not) do her magic. The droid was astonished at how fast the fragile organics body repaired considering how the Scherezade was presumably extremely low on organic juices.

Srina then ordered BX-25233 to escort Scherezade to the Sanctuary where Scherezade could get proper medical treatment which BX-25233 thought was unneeded but he was not going to question it. "Understood Dread Queen. New Objective Assigned: Take the assigned VIP to newly assigned location called Sanctuary" BX-25233 then heard Scherezade openly disobey orders. BX-25233 quickly pointed his poisoned sword towards her neck. "You have been given an order. If you do not follow the orders you were given I will give you first hand experience on what happens to B1s who are missing obedience files" BX-25233 infact was unsure if Scherezade was disobeying the chain of command as he wasn't sure where Srina was in the chain of command but he just went with if they have the laser swords amd magnaguards are obeying them then they must be high up in command.

The only source of noise in the hallway came from the door 03 and 04 were posted in front of. The jammed servomotors continued to groan and grind, struggling in vain against the incorrectly lodged door. Neither man could tell if it was trying to open or shut. The door just twitched in place. Aside from this minute mechanical outburst, the whole building was silent as a tomb. Fitting, since it had apparently become just that for a number of people. Tombs had bodies, though, and this building didn't, which was still a major source of anxiety for 03. He joined in with the door by continually flicking the safety on his weapon. On, off, on, off, on, off-

"Quit doing that."

"Sorry. It's just-" How to articulate that he, a professional soldier, was scared of a big ol' cat but not the countless number of people he usually killed or beat up on a regular basis? It was hard. harder still was saying it in such a way that he didn't end up taking chit from 04. "This is all kinda weird, though. The animals, I mean. Has me on-"

"No, stop talking," 04 hissed, "I thought I heard something."

03 shut up and listened. Safety was off now, he had been keeping track. Their night-vision gave a full view of the three hallways that stretched away from them. As far as 03 could tell, there was nothing sulking in the darkness at either end of the hallway. Nothing to be heard, except that stupid door. A few moments passed in silence and, when 03 still hadn't heard anything, decided to speak again.

"You sure you heard something?"

"Of course I'm sure. It sounded like... I don't know."

Just to make sure his voice didn't crack when he asked, 03 cleared his throat. "Like a sabercat?"

"No, more like... You... Being a little queen."

It was well and good that 03 was wearing his mask, otherwise the petulant shade of infuriated red he began to turn would have been unbecoming.

"That's not funny."

04 shrugged. "Only 'cause 02 ain't here to laugh at you."

The argument carried on from there, both men being acutely unaware of the large sabercat slowly being roused from its slumber by the malfunctioning door, three offices down from them.

Maple was helped by [member="Rex Taff"] and the others form barriers at the proper points in the village, occasionally shooting straggler cats and bats that got too close to evacuating civilians rushing to the beacon location for liftoff.

"She blasted them out of the sky with telekinesis. It was like invisible skeet shooting!" She told Rex as he asked how most died.

But the work continued. Eventually after the straggler animals were taken care of with occasional sabering from Rex or a targeted shot from Maple, the transports started showing up to evacuate, and Rex Taff leapt over a barrier to continue giving evacuating civilians a chance against any remaining animals. Maple force jumped on top of a small house after taking a moment to still herself, quiet her lying brain to for it to properly infuse her body. She took aim for animals close to Rex. She had one ammo clip left for her blaster.

She opened fire on the bats that were still in the air, set to dive bomb Rex where he stood. She also spotted saber cats trying to use approaching bats as cover for their own attack and shot those too. She hit them in the leg if they moved too fast by firing in their path of travel. They wouldn't reach Rex. She would make sure.

Kurenai quietly shifted around the central square, entering a Seiza sitting position as the relaxed, slowly regaining her strength bit by bit, a brief silence surrounding her body, 'deep breaths, in out, in out'. The small time of rest came to an end at the sudden sound of Rex's voice coming into her ear, finally a report on the situation, even if it was only brief "at least we know face a limited enemy, no all there is to do is cull the numbers and hunt the rest down". She let out a small sigh, glad that today was finally coming to an end, but could not help but perk and eye brow at Rex's continued rant, it was very forward and stern... why though? "In all due accord Rex, I not only outrank you, besides is that anyway to talk to your elders?

Perhaps he was trying to prove something, or did not come to understand that she was far more robust then one would gather on first glance, 'what ever, I will let him a miss crazy brain play hero, best get everyone prepared for evac'. With the sound of blaster fire echoing in the back ground and a waning number of beasts Kurenai took it upon herself to organize the survivors and get them onto the incoming transports, "listen up everyone my comrades are providing cover for the drop ships to land safely". She paused for a moment, letting the information sink in, "when that happens I want wounded and those unable to fight put on first, then more able-bodied people next, no more people need to die today". "Yes Mama"!!

Keeping her weapon on had the veteran mercenary ushered people onto the first drop shots, the echo of Maple and Re'x weapons alike giving assurance that the animals where being kept back, like a sweet melody that soothed one’s ears.

Hearing Kureani say is that anyway to talk to your elders, he responses with "Only those you care about, who have already done more than enough ma'am". At some point he would have to tell Kurenai how much he really cared about her and her well-being. He knew she could look after herself, but there was an instinct in him to try to protect his master, older than thought that drove him. Watching the drop ships come in Excellent at least the wounded can be taken to safety.

That's when he was attacked by a sabre cat, cutting off both it's front legs and then stabbing his purple lightsabre into it's head. I am sorry creature of the night, but your time on this world was done when the scientist mutated you. Rex turns to take on a bat when it gets shot out of the sky. He sees where the shot came from it was maple, it's nice to have some back up. Turning his attention back to the creatures before him trying to climb over the other dead creatures. He says out loud to them "I am very sorry about this". Then he begins screaming, not a normal scream but a force induced one. Busting the creatures ear drums, as they all back off in immense pain. While they were trying to back up, Rex simply pushes his hand down, as the creatures sank into the dead bodies crushing them slowly.

Rex looks around, just seeing a pile of corpses. He sighs "There has been too much death today, I still wish there was another way to do this." Getting on the comms to maple "Thanks for the cover maple is there anymore out here or can I call it a day, I don't know how much of this senseless killing I can handle." Geez he hoped they were done for now anyways. As he asks he feels himself fading in and out, Whoops I've expended too much of myself, but I can't recharge yet. Feeling wheezy he manages to get to the top of the pile, before falling down the pile to the ground in exhaustion.

The sing-song voice of the woman-child before her caused the pale-skinned woman to stare. It was an odd reaction, however, after a moment or two, she realized that the girl was actually in shock. In that respect, she began to ignore the rest of the drivel that left her lips and instead focused on the problem at hand. She was depending on [member="BX-25233"] to watch their backs while she delved into areas of the Force that was…Rather unknown, to both herself and her Master. It was only through watching [member="Katrine Van-Derveld"] and the Grand Master of the Silver Jedi that the idea even percolated in the first place.

If Force Drain could restore her Master…Could not Dark Transfer bring this slip of a child back to equilibrium? It seemed, after the deed had been done, that her hopes were correct. The deWinter girl seemed to feel better, almost immediately, though the white-haired Apprentice was skeptical. She feared the damage that may lay within. Hurts, or bleeding, and Srina had not been able to mend. Part of her wondered if this had been a ploy to bring her close, to drain her, to reenact the same traitorous notions she had indulged on Haseria. This was the creature that had stabbed Darth Metus.

Were she not important to Katrine—Srina may have simply let her wander into the woods and die. Someone so disloyal, no matter the circumstances, or the spirits involved, was a sickness that ought to be exterminated at the root. Still. The Echani woman owed Katrine a great debt for her treatment and attentiveness after Tatooine. She would do this for her. And for her alone.

Srina pinched the bridge of her nose when the nigh youngling began to speak. She couldn’t tell if her sudden headache was due to the childish rambling that spilled from [member="Scherezade deWinter"] or due to the energy that she’d expended trying to seal the wound on her abdomen. She felt unsteady, as if in a haze, but she refused to let it show. With the avatar of [member="Darth Metus"] perched on her shoulder, she refused to show weakness. She would not borrow strength and wisdom from her Master and repay it with inefficiency.

The white-haired woman rose a singular brow when she was defied, and in turn, the loyal BX-25233 leveled a sword in the direction of the little brunette. She rose her hand to signal that he lower the blade. “Stand down…Don’t undo all of my hard work, Captain. I doubt I could heal her a second time.”

Silver eyes flickered to the girl, mercurial, and unyielding. Srina Talon, as some put it, was no fun at all.

“Your will to fight is admirable—But you must understand that I am no healer. I have stabilized you to the best of my ability. Extreme activity could cause newly mended skin to tear. You could wind up exactly where you were, only this time, the beasts will be here.”, she explained softly, filled with infinite patience. As unnerving as the girl was, it was possible, that she simply didn’t understand. “The creatures will have a hard time following your scent if you’re sealed in a transport. I did not intend to walk.”

“Katrine is currently working on the source of the problem. Baiting all of the wildlife at once could be…Problematic. We will report to Sanctuary. If you are cleared you may return to the battle.”

A battle, which hopefully, would soon end. Srina hoped that she would hear from [member="Katrine Van-Derveld"] or someone in her party soon. Their forces were spread out among several villages and cities. The droids could continue to fight almost endlessly, but the organics, did not operate with infinite energy.

02 and 01 brisked through records, ignoring the cubicles and minor consoles. And also the signs of carnage and struggle, obviously. Eventually they came to the mainframe, which was in a similar state of disrepair. Sparks flew from several exposed sections, wires hung from ceilings. Paneling had been disrupted, screens broken. Some folks had apparently either been inside or attempted to hide inside here at some stage of the animal attack. What rotten luck for them. Then again, what were they thinking? Data security and people security weren't the same thing.

Couldn't blame them for thinking as much, though. The heavy doors to the mainframe were literally burst open, like something had flung itself into it enough times to get it open. Maybe 03 was right to be worried. Then again, everyone here had a gun and cyborg parts. Those cats, if any of them were still hanging around, should have been the worried ones. "What a mess," 02 muttered, circling around the main console until he found an access-point.

"Can you get in?" After clearing the room, 01 moved back to the doorway, keeping strict watch over their exit. 02 could never tell if the guy was concerned. Angry, sure, but never concerned. Good quality for a leader.

02 plugged in his multirole device and began the booting process, "Let's find out..."

The sparks were a good sign. Emergency power was still flowing through here. Either that or the mainframe had a backup generator. Whatever it was, 02's screen lit up with the relevant information. Security systems were still online, though, and from the looks of it he'd have his work cut out for him.

"This might take a while."

"Then get started."

Not much one for conversation either, 01. Every four man band needed some straight-edge guy to hold things together. Thankfully this time it was the leader, otherwise Force 32 would have probably been brutally killed some time ago. 02 went through all the motions, building up some computer spikes in-system before beginning his digital assault. He'd have to be careful, seeing as he didn't want to short-out what little power was left in this part of the warehouse. If they lost the intel, they'd have to look by hand.

And that was not an enticing prospect, given what could be hanging around.

Her paw scrapped against the ground as her brain tried to figure out how far back she needed to go to get the proper jump, glancing behind to see she didn't even have half of the space she needed. This wasn't super great, the wolf was well aware, as she watched ahead.

Even now, she could feel the work of the Force, animal eyes shutting for a moment as it came her way, opening them to see the sudden burst of air that had taken out a small portion of the fire. Katrine didn't wait as she bit against the edge of the datapad again and ran ahead, into freedom, away from the heat and flame.

It was liberating being away, her paws still taking her straight past the Sith Lord as she'd made her way to the trail of clothes she'd left behind her, gently placing the datapad on the ground as she began concentrating on changing back into her human shape. From the inside, her bones began to adjust, head twitching and fur disappearing before she'd start taking human form again, focusing for the minute and a half she needed before her blond hair fell to her side and she felt human again. She reached for her clothes, item by item, dressing again. "Thank you," at some point, as she'd reached for the last piece of clothing, her shirt, putting it on. Dressed again and human looking, she picked up the datapad and inspected it. The tech was safe, thankfully.

"I'm gonna go hunt," Katrine said, studying the blips on the screen. "Join me when you're done here," she instructed Daxton, picking out her first target before she'd run off. She'd find the nearest one soon enough, putting the datapad against a tree to keep it safe as she'd summoned her sword once more. "Here, kitty, kitty," she'd called to, drawing her attention. It growled intently before it began moving, launching on to her. Katrine jumped up and spun forward, facing her sword downward as she cut through the creatures back, hearing a loud whimper as she'd landed on her feet behind it. When she turned the sight of it made her sigh. It wasn't a pretty sight and she hated that she was doing this but she knew there was no point in letting them continue. Not in the form they'd been forced into against the will. So, when she'd dug the blade into the Saber cat's neck, it had been a mercy kill once again, nothing more.

Maple had run out of ammo, firing at remaining stragglers just as [member="Rex Taff"] himself had run out of energy. She looked behind her. Evacuation was proceeding smoothly.

"Nope. We got 'em. Hell, between you me and...Kurenai, was it? We probably partly filled the Confederacy's quota on this sort of thing. You did good. Now...about dropping on the pile of dead animals. I understand you are exhausted but you're likely to get an infection. And even if you don't its still unsanitary. I don't even know how you can take the smell..." she trailed on her comlink before Force jumping to the ground and heading to the back up site towards [member="Kurenai Yumi"].

"If there are any of these critters left it probably ain't much. How you holding up? I've done critter disposal like this before, but I never managed to solve it with the epicness you did. My solutions mostly consist of blasters for stuff like this. I'm Maple, by the way. Never got a chance to properly introduce myself." she said, her piercing green eyes joined with a friendly smile.

Care... Kurenai never really thought about it that way, yes Rex was a great student and there was a bond, but this level of care? it had only been a few months since they met, had Kurenai filled some void in the Chiss's life that was left open after leaving the Chiss military? It would be something to talk about later, right now she needed to make sure everyone got on the ships and evacuated, for medical screening and just in case there was still a large pack of those things around.

As the last injured person boarded the shuttle a deafening scream could be heard over the village, Kurenai turning her head in the direction it came from, letting out a small sigh. "Really, he tells me all that and then goes force screaming, hypocritical much"? "What was that ma’am? another attack"? "No just my student over exerting himself, do no worry about it", giving a confused nod, the trooper went back to his duties. As the scream subsided Kurenai began to walk towards its source, seeing the blue skinned man fall atop of the bodies, Maple a few steps behind him.

Said woman jumping down beside her giving a status report, "that is good to know means the transports have a free run to the ship, the CIS may land commando droids to take care of the few strangers that remain". "Oh, what I did, yes it if a force power called Dark Shear where one manifest a spear made from dark energy, I am a master of spear fighting so I learned that power as soon as possible, but I often use a good array of guns and explosives".

She liked the way this woman fought, even if it seemed a little wacky at times, more so with the apparent fractured mind, "it is a pleasure to meet you Maple, I am Kurenai Yumi, though most pope just call me crimson... I suppose we best go wake up sleepy head".

The minutes were ticking by, one after another, and 02's multirole device grew progressively louder as it churned away. Layer after layer of security countermeasures were being peeled away. Strictly speaking from a slicer's point of view, there was no finesse to this. It was all brute force slicing, just wave upon wave of random number generation until something clicked and got him in. But it was happening far faster than anyone else could do it manually, that was for sure. Instead of two hundred years, they'd be here maybe twenty minutes, tops. Not something 01 would like to hear, so he kept his mouth shut.

Despite the largely automated process, 02 still had some input to make - adjusting settings according to each countermeasure that got in the way. Easy stuff, for the most part. This wasn't military-grade security. It didn't require a lot of hands on manipulation. It kept him engaged. 03 and 04 were probably getting bored by now, running out of things to talk about. They did not really talk about much outside of making fun of each other and scathing situational comedy. There was no indication of any shared interests between anyone in Force 32, actually.

Well, they couldn't really be friends. What with the possibility of dying any minute and all. 02 wondered, briefly, if 01 could even feel boredom. It was an unprofessional emotion, so... Likely not. While considering all of this, gunfire exploded from somewhere in the facility. Both men in the mainframe recognized the sound - these old Czerka rifles had a certain ring to them, especially when loaded with the exploding bullets like 04's was. There was a spattering of gun fire, followed by a smaller smattering of mini-explosions as 04's bullets hit something.

"Uh oh," 02 muttered. "You got them on comms?"

01 didn't answer him, but 02 could hear them on the shared channel anyway. "04, what's going on out there?"

More gunshots, followed by a roar, then more gunshots. Static, and then finally 04 was able to respond. "There's a goddamn sabercat still running- hold on!"

If either 03 or 04 were yelling, the rest of Force 32 must have been too far away to hear them. What they did continue to hear were the gunshots and a lot more crashing. There was a pause, then 03 picked up.

"Three of them! Three sabercats! I think we got o- no! No we didn't!"

The cacophony of far off battle resumed again, but 01 did not stir from where he was keeping watch. 02 ventured a question, still primarily focused on getting into the mainframe. "Should we go... Help...?"

"You let them do their job and we'll do ours. Now focus."

Well, that was that. And what a relief, too.

M o n a s t e r y

It would be a long time before the streets and wooded areas of the planet would be completely safe to walk at night. Through the combined efforts of the Confederacy and the Order of the Sacred Lotus the human-shaped psychopath that had been genetically altering wildlife had been dealt with in a very permanent fashion. The datapad that was collected from the hidden research facility held vast knowledge, but also, proof of the inhumane experiments that had created the oversized Nightshrike’s and Saber Cats.

Perhaps one day the research notes could be put to good use, but, in the meantime, all the datapad could be used for was to help track down most of the remaining creatures. There were some aberrations that didn’t show up on the tracker as it seemed that nature had a way of evolving on its own. Citizens would still need to be careful, but without pack mentality, and numbers on their side the Nightshrike’s would return to more reclusive practices. The leftover Saber Cats, would simply turn toward less challenging prey.

The CIS would hold up their end of the deal with the governmental body of Monastery regardless. They would keep garrisons of droids present to help deal with any resurgences of creatures that they couldn’t track, or seek out immediately, and an official CIS outpost would also be created within the confines of Cessna. It was created with the desire to provide easy access to aid, support, and housing for any Confederate personnel. In this way, they could reduce the burden of their people, and drain their own resources, rather than that belonging to Monastery.

Droid forces will bolster the local military and the presence of the Confederate Storm Fleet would be noticeable in the area surrounding the planet. Not only did they plan to keep the ground safe, but, they would seek to protect any of the major travel routes as well. Any additional supplies, be it medical or foodstuffs, would be provided to the Sanctuary for distribution to the neediest of areas. As much time as they would spend on Monastery chasing oversized Nightshrikes and Sabercats down…The OSL knew their people best. The Confederacy would trust that judgment.

For all of this, signed, sealed, and delivered—Monastery in turn agreed to the same tax that other member worlds agreed to. The Confederacy took only what was necessary, only what the world could afford, and nothing more.

In the end, there is still a great deal of work to be done. Lives were lost. Homes shattered. Hopefully, sooner than later, life for the everyday citizen could return to normal, and the monsters would return to the places that they belonged. In dreams, shadows, and most importantly under the bed.
