“Why yes! I know of a very fine McYoda’s in level 8. If you’d like, I could show you,” he said, still all friendliness. “My name is Giz. It’s a pleasure, a real pleasure to meet you. Are you here on business?”

Oh I'm sure it is, mused Kaile, internally catching onto the subtle nuances that spoke another tale entirely. She didn't gave any indication about being on the up and up, her cordial pleasant smile a rather jovial ray of light.

"Level eight is it?" Kaile gave a spare glance to the fuel console. It was almost full. "Nah, I can find it myself just find Mistah Giz." she gave the illusion of being nothing more than a common spacer in a pit stop.

"Oh me? Pickin' up some supplies and the like. Lookin' for some prospectin' work and all. " with how things were going this side of the 'verse, that wasn't too hard to believe. There was some opportunity here for someone ambitious. Granted, Kaile was really here to investigate Sith movements. Word had it that there might be talk of something going down that may tie into the Mandalorians and the Sith. How far that went, well, that was a matter of the espion to find out.

“Fresh Gartullan Soup, sir, only six credits!”

Connor heard the Rodian before he paid any attention to him, or the bowl of food he was holding up. Looking at the soup, then the bulbous eyes, the Jedi shook his head and offered one of those false, sympathetic-but-thankful smiles.

”No, thank you.”

He walked on, but noticed the Rodian was hanging back, as if waiting for him the change his mind.

”Actually,” Connor turned his head whilst keeping walking, ”I’ll give you 5 credts and you can keep your soup if you can tell me where I may find those in charge of what goes on around here?”

For some reason he felt the Rodian would reveal the figures not in charge legally, which he actually wasn’t fishing for.

Sabine waited for the reply, as she did an officer came up with a fleet assessment of Silvers.
They have mixed bag of ships, mostly tactical ships couple of assault craft.
Though they do out number us on small craft, that will means the Fangs and Eagles will be busy.
They also have couple less ships than us, but size wise we are more or less equal.
She smiled as the commander retort came in,
“We are moving to the planet, and if you wish to make good that threat we will retaliate, otherwise, clear out.”
She then turned to her commander, I guess I get to test my fleet today.
As her fleet mirrored the sliver movements, but going backwards slowly.
A few long range shots where fired, at two of her lead frigates.
She then sent one last message through the hail.
Remember you fired first!

She got an initial damage reports from the commanders of Scipio and Scorpion, the deflector shields had soaked it up, anything else was superficial.
She then grimaced knowing some of her people where going to die today, and then gave orders.
Magma, Scorpion and Scipio return fire on the lead ship. (Defender)
Hood and Venom move to of to port side, and fire on other cruiser. (Preserver)
The countess Stay back with me and the Banshee. (not firing)
Saber, Claw and Tail, get ready to fend off fighter formations.
All squadrons, move forward to protect the frigates, from enemy bombers and fighters.
She then watched the viewscreen as her orders, began to pan out.
This will be her first taste of naval actions, since debacle of Cardia.

The gas explosion caught up with her just as she was entering the light-filled cavity at the top of the escarpment. From deep in the tunnel resounded a squealing electronic wail, and at the same time, almost as if the cave system were gasping for breath, a searing wind tore down from a perforation in the grotto's arched ceiling through which the ship had entered. A muffled but ground-heaving detonation followed; then a roiling fireball that was the labyrinth's scorching exhalation. Whirling to the tunnel she had just exited and managing somehow to remain on her feet, Sorel conjured a Force shield with her waving arms that met the fireball and contained it, thousands of flaming hawk-bats spiralling within the tumult like windblown embers.

She lifted her head in time to see the underside of the domed ceiling begin to shed enormous slabs of rock. Directly below the plummeting slabs sat her starship.

She raised her arms in an attempt to hold the rocks in midair. Behind her, the fireball's final flames surged from the mouth of the tunnel to lick her back and drive her deeper into the grotto.

The cave continued to spasm underfoot, sending shock waves through the crazed ceiling. Cracks spread like a web from the oculus, triggering collapses throughout the grotto. She heard a rending sound overhead and watched a fissure zigzag its way across the ceiling, sloughing layer after layer of stone as it followed the grotto's curved wall.

Unable to hold them at bay indefinitely, she quickly reoriented herself, aiming her raised hands and, with a downward motion of both arms, brought them down so quickly and with so much momentum that they landed a matter of metres from her ship.

Karen launched from the Hanger with orders to Hold Position. She launched without a wingman but was given a full Squadron Escort by Tango Squad. They took up Holding Pattern Alpha on the edges of the Carrier's parameter. Anxious but also waiting. The Jump had put them in-system with the planet between the engaging forces. Annoying long range fire yes, but extremely accessible to Starfighter's.

Karen watched the planet's atmosphere for shrouded bombers on approach.

She stood just outside the chambers doors. She met with Slarsh a bit earlier and was led to this destination. She heard voices and looked to see her friends; the Heavenshields. She let go a warm smile,

"Slarsh, good to see you again. Coci and Thurion." she paused for a slight moment "It's always a joy to see you both. How goes it?"

After having a brief moment to chat before Slarsh opened the doors, she greeted them warmly, on a level that was deeper than their titles; she regarded them as friends.

She entered the chambers after her fellows, following closely behind she lowered her head in respect to the officials who made eye contact. She sat in one of the designated seats made available for them. For the moment, she waited for the Heavenshields to speak first...

There were a number of steps to take when it came to getting the much-desired mineral, each of them critical in varying degrees. The first step was actually finding a vein. He could go wih the standard method of finding an existing mine, and from there either hope nobody caught him tapping into a live vein or try to find one that had run dry and hope he got enough shavings out of it. Or he could try to find his own vein. If he was going to actually put a mine here, he'd need to do the second anyways. Might as well start now.

He didn't have the money to buy it, but he'd been able to borrow a chunk of the raw ore. In fact it would have been easier getting his hands on some of the purified stuff, but he wouldn't find purified cortosis in the ground. He needed as close to a valid comparison as he could find. He'd spent much of the flight pouring over it and other rocks and minerals through the Force, trying to discern what made it different. How it stood out from the others. He wanted to be able to find a thread of it in a plain of assorted other materials.

No pressure.

Post 7:

Stone dust eddying around her, Sorel stood rooted in place. She wasn't certain how long she remained there. Long enough, though, that when she rose her legs were quivering and some of the dust from the explosion had settled. Only when she took a few backward steps did she realise that the event had not left her unscathed. At some point, a rock or some other projectile had pulped a large area of her lower back, and now the thin tunic she wore beneath the enviro-suit was saturated with blood.

Despite the swirling dust, she inhaled deeply, eliciting a stab of pain from her rib cage and a cough that spewed blood into the hot air. Drawing on the Force, she numbed herself to the pain and tasked her body to limit the damage as best it could. When the injury ceased to preoccupy her, she surveyed the grotto, remaining anchored in place but turning a full circle. Littering the hard ground, injured hawk-bats were chirping in distress and clawing through circles of their own. Far above her, a beam of oblique and dust-moted daylight streamed through the dome's large oculus - itself the result of an earlier collapse. Close to the jumble of stones the collapse had piled on the grotto floor sat her starship.

Approaching the ship, she scanned the damage that had been inflicted. It had taken hits on the deflector shield and navigation arrays, coolant ducts, sensors, and antennas. She could effect repairs to some of the components, but not all.

Again she squinted into the light pouring in through the oculus. Her power in the Force was not enough to carry her from the floor and up through the grotto's unblinking eye. Nothing short of a jetpack would do, and her ship didn't carry one. Her gaze drifted from the oculus to the grotto's curving walls. She supposed she could spider her way along the arched underside of the dome and reach the eye, but now she saw a better way.

“Good thinking. Scindia, give me a target.”
“I can do better than that, I can give you two,” the Jedi Knight said, bringing up a holo map of Centares’ northern hemisphere. “These two settlements, Andle and Fergan, have had the most disappearances.”

Nantaris looked to Cambria. “I’ll take Andle, you and Scindia investigate Fergan. Keep in touch and watch out for ambushes.”

The two settlements, though widely spaced, both butted up against a range of mountains. These mountains could hide any number of concealed locations.

“Myr, dispatch probes to sweep the mountains and report any findings to us,” he ordered, heading for the exit.

~Aboard the Liberator~
There was a look exchanged between Nantaris and Scindia over the holograph table as the mission orders were given. Though the two had hid the true inklings of their Force thoughts well, Cambria did pick up that the main gist of it had to do with her. Men?!

~Planet side~
It didn't take long for Team Two to be dropped off near the settlement of Fergan. The Twi'lek Guardian jumped down from the deck of the hovering dropship with graceful ease, then adjusted the blaster rifle that was slung on a strap across her back as the transport lifted to return to their ship awaiting in orbit; the corvette pulling back to a safe location from the fray until called in to retrieve them.

The Freespace Rangers were well equipped with armored outfits, fast speeder bikes, and nicely appointed weapons at their disposal. Cambria though still preferred to use her lightsaber as she was very proficient at deflecting blaster bolts back at encountered enemies thus usually acted as a forward shield for the non-Force sensitive rangers as they advanced in a firefight. Hopefully there wouldn't be any here, but the way things were coming about upstairs with the fleet the odds were increasing things might get sticky down here too.

Cambria looked over to Scindia; a fellow Jedi Knight, and Nantaris' right hand man as well as former student. The Chandrilan was rather handsome… for a clean-cut human, and was much more diplomatic than her. He might fare better talking with the locals so a plan came to mind.

"Why don't you take Alpha squad with you into the settlement to see what you can find out while I take Beta squad and do a parameter check. I saw something when we came down about five clicks northeast of here I want to investigate."

"Sounds like a plan, but don't do anything reckless… The boss man won't be happy if you do."

"Well then I will just have to be careful when I am," the Rutian Twi'lek quipped back with a playful twitch of her lightly tattooed lekku, then she mounted a speeder bike and took off.

Bal'demnic was, well, a planet. Planets were big, especially when it came to looking for things. It would take powers greater than his to run the survey from orbit, and even halfway to the ground could barely get a sense of what he was looking for. He had to get even lower to the ground to try and accurately detect the mineral. He had much more ground to cover this way, and since he had to fly slower to get an accurate idea of what was below, took much more time.

The Sephi's methodology was simple: in his seat in the cockpit, he kept one hand on the control yoke and the other above three buttons. Those buttons were linked to a computer that tracked location. As he flew, he visualized a web of Force power underneath him and out to either side, about a hundred meters in each direction. As he flew, the net 'sifted' through the solid ground; thankfully the Force was not so hampered by the mere physical. Whenever he felt what might be cortosis ore pass through the net, he touched a button. To the left was the left button, the right was the right one, and underneath him was the middle one. Meanwhile the computer marked the location each time he pressed a button. Simple enough.

Post 8:

From a spot mid-distance between the ship and rubble pile beneath the oculus, she immersed herself in the Force and began to levitate slabs from the ship and add them to the rubble heap, stopping only when she had both exposed the hatch of the ship and was confident she could Force-leap through the oculus from atop the augmented pile.

When she tried springing the hatch, however, she found that it wouldn't budge. She was ultimately able to gain entry to the cockpit by assailing the transparisteel canopy with a series of Force blows. Worming her way inside, she retrieved her travel bag, which contained a comlink, her lightsabers and her robes — among other items.

Once outside the ship, she peeled out of the enviro-suit and blood-soaked tunic, trading them for her Jedi robes. Affixing both lightsabers to her belt, she activated the comlink and found it was functioning — but only partially. Long-range transmission was gone but she was able to call up a map of Bal'demnic. With the limitations of the damaged device, and being underground, she had only a limited global positioning system, but the map told her all he needed to know about the immediate area.

She took a final look around. It wasn't likely that an indigene would have reason to investigate the grotto, and it was even less likely that another interstellar visitor would find this place. It contained a partially crushed but costly and salvage-worthy starship. She only had so long before someone started poking around and took her ship.

Sorel leapt to the top of the pile, then through the roof into the remains of the day.

“Well it would be an undeniable pleasure Master Matsu. I believe I have developed a footer in the foundations that will properly follow the natural movement of the ground, with enough give to weather minor tectonic shifts. Most need a fixed point of balance to their weight but with this mix of materials….” And so our engineer went on describing the concept of a naturally evening balance in the foundations themselves, the composite allowing a substantial amount of give.

Kei grinned through the dirt hiding his silver stubble, dirt that was rapidly being applied from the work, and even though he’d distanced himself from the both of them, could be seen carrying that grin around like a small kid once more, there was a patience to Matsu for Fyor and the rest of the crew that was that of a saint, at least he thought so, she reminded him of Taiden.

Fyor on the other hand, had no grin at all, he might given Taiden Keth a run for his money in how he replied to the Master Jedi. Such was his concentration as he, his visor, and then his onboard computer read the schematics, that you’d think he was taking his Jedi exams, not that he’d ever been much good at being a Jedi, and didn’t even really know if they did exams truth be told, but anyway.

“Will you be setting up a recruitment drive planetside for the medical staff?” Fyor was drawn to ask, sensing the benefit for a forward division of humanity aid, given the nature of Master Matsu's efforts to flagship this fleet into something truly inspiring to his technical mind for fixing things, or people in this case. Natos mind was racing too as she gave a passing wink to Kei, but Kei for some reason wouldn’t let her lift anything, if anything she looked slightly ill and he took a moment to comfort the younger knight, shielding her from the rest of the gathering.

Thank you for your patience Matsu, very kind, next post will be faster I promise, was fighting bad writers block for a good long while.

"Yes there will be, these will work to use the locals on the world and see what they can do." She was working with some of it while the designed showed the massive structure being built and all of the things. "We have been working with tungstoid for the doors to provide the hardest seals should there be an outbreak. Other design choices will be with the botanical sections where we can use the new force enhanced fertilizer to grow the healing plants we have been farming and harvesting. The nursery stations for it will make in system fees easier to get to so we can save credits and put them towards important things." Well that and that they were able to save a lot more on some of the things thanks to their work. The massive isotope 5 reactors could power hospitals and the structures while the joshu used raw materials or waste to convert it into beneficial and needed supplies.

Fyor continued discussing the work with Matsu, concentrating on self-sustainability as was her enviable goal, he suggested such things as, “self-sustaining power generation, triple redundant power storage, and independent maintenance droids,” being one of the few to favour allowing more droid autonomy.

What was Taiden doing, sitting in contemplation, but no mountain top sightseeing this time! This time he was flying the goods in, with his eyes closed. One or two of the people with him were less enthusiastic about an altogether too quiet Echani flying in to land blind, but there you have it, that’s what he did and with such fine control that you could hear a pin drop as they touched down.

Fully making use of his monotone coloring scheme of white, white and more white, Taiden never got dusty, ever, it was as if his clothes were shielded or perhaps there was a secret to Echani tailoring he wasn’t telling you. When he came across Matsu and Fyor hard at work, he had his reverent and sincere respectful bow for Master Ike already undertaken, and held till she signalled to stand or made comment.

Why, because he had been out of contact altogether too long, of both her and his Master. Truthfully he had learned much from “Elder Ike,” as he now addressed her, not looking up but holding the posture. “Forgive my absence from your work, it was unfortunately regrettable, and I have no excuse.” Deadly serious as many Echani were, and perhaps a weakness in the padawan still, even after all these years of study, his hands were open, a gesture that he would assist where he was directed.

He was harbouring equally if not more guilt about his absence away from his Master, but you’d not know it to look at his face, just the gentile smile he gave to the world, only the fact for the first time he was waiting to be received, his curiosity held firmly at the door.

She felt the familiar presence of Master Labooda approach, Coci turned to the woman with a smile and offered her greetings, "It is always a pleasure to see you Shmi, thank you for coming all this way to help with negotiations". Dropping all protocols of rank and file. However, before the conversation could continue, the doors opened and Slarsh directed them inside.

The room beyond the doors was large, a political arena with many representatives seated with their eyes firmly fixed on the Jedi as they entered. Slarsh encouraged them all to take position on one of the many disk platforms which had seating, a holoprojector and microphone. She looked out over the sea of pink lizard like faces and suck in a deep breath. The political arena is foreign to her and Thurion, at least in this context, but Shmi probably has more experiences in this having been part of the Republic. However, Coci stepped forward.

Being the lesser of the ranks here today, she took it upon herself to do the introductions. "Greetings Your Royal Highest Archon Thrash and esteemed representatives of Bal'demnic, I am Coci Heavenshield, Master of the Silver Sanctum, may I present, Thurion Heavenshield, Grand Master of the Silver Sanctum Coalition and Shmi Labooda, Grand Master for the Jedi Order", she paused for a moment. "We have come to speak to you on trade for the benefit of Bal'demnic and all systems within Coalition Protected Space. But, more importantly, we come to speak on the growing threat of the One Sith that inches closer to your borders to the west".

With the initial opening complete, Coci lowered her head in a bow and would let Thurion and Shmi have their say. She would remain silent until such time her opinion was necessary.

“Prospecting, hmm?” Giz asked thoughtfully. “Well, we’re doing some prospecting of our own. Searching for aurodium amongst the desk.” He clearly thought this was quite witty as he chuckled.

“I think you’d better come with us, pretty lady,” he said, suddenly the friendliness dialled down a notch.

“I’ve got some friends who are very happy to meet you. They’re quite demanding, so if you take my meaning, it’s not so much a request.”

Blasters were produced, but not aimed at her. Not yet.

The Rodian’s snout twitched.
“Gartullan soup is good for you!” He snatched the credits and thrust the bowl into the Jedi’s hands.
Inside the bowl though was something rather odd. Either the soup was supposed to be clear or it was just water. At the bottom of the bowl was written a message.
‘Dock 19. Gurok the Bold.’
The same dock where Kaile was having her…meeting…with Giz.
However, the words faded from sight like invisible ink.
“Good soup, yes!” the Rodian asked innocently. “Hope you have a good stay. A quick stay,” it commented meaningfully.

The giant pink lizard looked rather nonplussed at Coci’s words, and before Thurion could speak he hissed.
“What need do we have to worry about other worlds? We do not interfere outside our borders. Not at all. We are happy when offworlders are not here. Our people have been involved in war before, when the machine-creatures came in ages past, we do not want that destruction again!”
The Clone Wars clearly left a long shadow.

As Cambria and her squad set down in the pleasant woodlands there was still a noticeable aura of threat. Even the soldiers, all Force-blind, felt it. Everything was too idyllic and peaceful to last.

It was as the Jedi and her troops passed close to a gap in the trees that the threat would become worse. There, if one had the sense and eyes to see it, was a thin wire stretched between two trees and some disturbed earth nearby. A landmine.

XXX

Nantaris meanwhile was dropping in towards the other town. He also had a squad with him and his other blue Twi’lek beside him.
“What’s this place called?” he asked. Before she could answer he spoke again. “Oh yeah, that’s right, I remember. Don’t worry, I’ve got an Andle on the situation.”
Myr gave him a look and put her head in her hands. “No amount of money is worth these puns!”
“So you think it’s an unfair pun-ishment?”
Myr sighed. “This is going to be a long day….”

The supplies back from the construction project had come and she was looking voer them now. The massive factory had produced what they needed and more supplies to finish working on the construction itself. All of the beefed up systems they could work with built into it before the jedi knights finished up. "She was looking over the different things there now on the screen while some of the real attention came from all of the hard work the jedi were putting into it. She was more then happy to work with them crossing her arms when the new entrance doors were being opened by the droids for the hospital they had beefed up. With the jedi monument off in the distance and the massive structures she knew they were working on constructing the healer could get some more sakura workers in all of the things.

The interior of the hospital they were working on was a nice thing, lots of room for some expansion and even more room for the bigger things they wanted to do. Sub basement levels designed for reseach and some of the systems that would and be needed on top of the access for the roof... well it got a smile from the healer as she spoke. "You have been doing very good work, I must admit. The droids and Sakura workers know what they are doing same for the Saotome workers." That was the real fun of it, they had Saotome for construction efforts like this, they had buildings, droids, ships and vehicles that could be constructed as needed within Sasori thanks to it... and by extension the silver sanctum could... but few benefited more then the agri-corps as they got to grow the healing herbs for the researchers to work with.

"There is no worry I often take time away for study and contemplation." She was looking at it and the work they were putting into the the structure and well the cradle it was built into. That was the real trick... plus the self sustaining bit but she had been getting better with those self replicating droids that will build their replacements as needed, construction and manufacturing for the parts needed and the massive plan of what they could do with not just a fully contained ecosphere for plants and animals but there was also the chance to protect and raise some of the other near extinct beings who were in need of a home. "We have been trying to for years make it how it is and been succeeding. Never know when there will be new inventions to go towards it but the previous groups in charge weren't providing what was needed to expand. So I choose to do it myself. With hospital and factory ships that can build and heal wherever needed."

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Keller said grimly, cutting the link.

The arcing bolts of turbolasers and ion cannons flew through space to impact on the shields of the two lead cruisers. At this range the damage inflicted was light, though heavier on the Defender as it was faced by the enemy frigates.

Still, it was their cue.

“Launch all fighters and interceptors. Bombers to launch but hold back. Master Roberts, move forward to engage the enemy fighters.”

It would take time for the attack craft to reach their destination, but when they did they had a very strong numerical advantage of 9 fighter and 1 interceptor squadrons to about 4 enemy. Still, they had to make sure not to get too close to the flak corvettes.

To ensure these corvettes would not be too problematic the Coalition column turned to engage the enemy fleet directly.
If said corvettes tried to move forward to engage they could be targeted and savaged.
Whilst Watchman and Righteous moved to the right flank somewhat with Pioneer, hoping to get behind the enemy right flank, Defender and Preserver moved forward directly. Adventure meanwhile moved off towards the other flank, drawing attention away.
Finally the Valiant continued to be shadowed by the main line, hanging back to better make use of its fighters.
