SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • ( + ) Multilayered Haute Couture. The Ninth Benediction is comprised of two main layers—an outer cloak, and a set of armor underneath. Ceremonial in nature, these two layers were painstakingly designed in order to be worn together, and so are remarkably form-fitting to one another. Assembled by some of the most prestigious and renown designers galaxy-wide, the garments are built such that, while wearing the outer cloak, the set's accompanying armor underneath is perfectly obscured and made to look nonexistant. Moreover, because of the fabric's in use, when one moves in The Ninth Benediction there is a certain floating, ethereal appearance one takes on—hence the namesake, Wraith Mantle. Despite this, the armor is much more than merely the latest and greatest in galactic fashions. Built as a stealth suit with all of the rarest and most expensive fabrics on the market, The Ninth Benediction baffles most forms of surveillance detection (appearing invisible before UV, Infrared, nightvision, or even through the Force, attributing to its taozin skin layers). Moreover, wearers of the Benediction often appear fuzzy and blurred even in the sights of typical holo-cams and common surveillance security systems.

"A picture really doesn't do this marvel of design any justice, darling. You have to see it in person!"
    —Ufsa'ynth'aris, on The Ninth Benediction

  • ( + ) Sithspawned Autonomy. Much more than a marvel of fashion, The Ninth Benediction is made distinct from most other armors for its sithspawn-like qualities, and autonomous nature. Representing Korriban's role as the Tomb World of the Sith, and by extension its King's role as Lord of the Dead, and Keeper of the Black Gate, the Benediction's two layers are each inhabited & possessed by Jen'koshū spirits summoned from the Netherworld. These spirits are bound to the armor as their body where they forevermore function as genius loci, able to respond and act either autonomously, or in synchronicity with their wearer. Each spirit is capable of communicating by way of telepathic thought, aided in part by the telecrystalline lattice embedded within the armor's helm. As an extension of this ghostly possession, the armor is imbued with a few qualities deemed to be supernatural, rather than owing directly to either enchantment or technological innovation. For instance, both the cloak and the armor can be made to fly, or carry out a number of other tasks upon the wearer's request (for example, "cloak, pick up that item," or "catch that falling person," or "smother them!"). More impressively, both the cloak and the armor beneath are capable of standing on their own, autonomously operated by the spirits within, and functioning with a similar degree of competency & intelligence to the aforementioned Jen'koshū. Often, owners of the Benediction will have each the cloak and the armor stand as individual, statuesque sentinels over their lairs. Interestingly, these animated sets of armor tend to fight very much like their attuned owners, affecting physical and arcane combat styles inspired by them.

  • ( + ) Shapeshifting. Equipped and designed with some of the most exotic materials on the market, The Ninth Benediction has a myriad of shapechanging qualities. Although its creators may argue that it's default design is also its best design, the Benediction set(s) are capable of shifting to meet the needs and style requirements of their wearer, whoever that may be! The Benediction's versatility suite draws on the latest and greatest from the fashion industry's shape changing technology, and even Sith Alchemy to accomplish its means. When employed, the Benediction is capable of appearing in an endless number of different styles and variations, able to alter its color, textures, and even aesthetics attached to its cut and base appearance. What's more, wearers of the Benediction can call upon the Mask of Seeming's ability to change even their own skin and biological appearance.

  • ( + ) The Great Equalizer. Imbued with the rare and powerful vexthorite, The Ninth Benediction is capable of bestowing unto Non-Force Using wearers certain powerful capabilities with the Force. Built into the armor's primary gauntlet are various exquisitely cut vexthorite gemstones—each masterfully inscribed with glyphs in the foul language of Nether wraiths and the black speech of the dead. While wearing the Benediction, anyone familiar with vexthorite's use can tap into a wealth of Sith Magic and other Dark Side abilities, including:
WEAKNESSES
  • ( - ) Attunement. The Ninth Benediction is neither bestowed nor worn lightly, requiring a long and sometimes disturbing attunement process—both physical, with blood samples, insofar as creating a chain code (an identification marker containing biographical information on the owner, attuned to their specific bio-metrics), and in the arcane. This can involve linking one's mind with the spirits possessing the Benediction armor and forcing them to submit to your command. For some, earning the respect of their armor's spirits can require years, and many battles fought. Those who are not attuned to the armor in this way are unable to benefit from many of its most advanced and useful features, nor able to command the spirits therein.

  • ( - ) Don & Doff. Ceremonial in nature and incredibly complicated, The Ninth Benediction can take upwards of an hour to don and doff (and this only with the aid of many experienced servants and armorers). It cannot be thrown on hastily, nor can it be put on with a single pair of hands alone. Moreover, owing to the incredible intricacy of the glyphs embroidered throughout the cloak and armor's layers, there is a proper way to apply each fold and tie each not in order for the armor to function properly. Each and every aspect of its donning and doffing is done with great ceremony and ritual on Korriban, both before and after great battles or rites. In many cases, even the long time owners of Benediction armor do not know how to don the armor correctly.

  • ( - ) Force Suppression. Due to its magical nature, drawing upon the Force or else bestowing Force abilities unto the wearer, Force Suppression techniques or phenomenon invoking similar null fields are extremely effective in countering the Benediction. Within these fields, many of the armor's advanced utilities will cease to function, including (but not limited to) the possession-autonomy enjoyed by both the cloak and the armor, and its vexthorite bestowed abilities (which draw upon the Force as an essential means to operate).

  • ( - ) Force Light. Powerful Light Side techniques such as Force Light can damage The Ninth Benediction, or harm the spirits bound within it. Although the armor's arcane wards and various magical protections may still function beneath such powers as Force Light, powerful enough manifestations can shatter these defenses and cause temporary or permanent damage to the armor, requiring particularly expensive and timely repairs.

  • ( - ) Toll The Mind & Body. Owing to the Benediction's Sith Pain Harness (see above), its passive enchantments, and the symbiosis required between wearer and the spirits housed within, wearing The Ninth Benediction (while undeniably powerful) comes at a great cost. Designed to cause harm, riot emotions, and drive the body beyond its ordinary levels of stamina, removing the armor comes with a rushing tide of fatigue and injury, often requiring medical attention, sometimes requiring emergency treatment. Moreover, because of the nature of the armor's magical effects, it is possible to push too far beyond one's own limits while within the Benediction. In these cases, removing the armor without first receiving advanced medical aid can be lethal.

  • ( - ) Synthetic Fabrics. Despite its considerable weight, when all is said and done, The Ninth Benediction functions as light armor and offers most of its protections through utility, arcane wards, and energetic resistances. Unfortunately, the armor does very little to defend against kinetic or sonic damage. Most especially, the armor's fabrics (as well as the ornate glyphs embroidered thereupon) are extremely susceptible to acids and other corrosive effects. Moreover, while the armor has some inherent resistances to ionic energy, many of its technological systems can be countered by sustained exposure to ion blasts.
