The Dread Legions

640px-Nightfall_-_Horrigan_zpsm2hk42vy.png
"Those unfortunate few who opt to stand against the legions are scantly heard from again. Those few that do often turn up in pieces."
Warriors of the galaxy, we call upon you to serve for the betterment of the galaxy!
For generations, the Dreadguard have battled against the malignant forces of the galaxy. The blood of millions is stained upon the hands of those that would consider themselves gods -- the Dreadguard will not allow such misdeeds to go unpunished.
We are the Netherworld's reapers. Our warriors are forged in the crucible of war; our champions bathe in rivers of the defilers' blood. We are the Dread Legion, and those who allow the forces of indecency and corruption to flourish will soon find themselves crushed between the our combined might!
With victories ranging from the famed destruction of Drunkenwell, to the more recent liberation of Thyferra, the Dread Legions have turned their warriors into the galaxy's greatest soldiers. Men and women clad in the ever-evolving power armor that has risen to fame in recent times, and armed with weapons other armies can only dream of fielding, the Dreadguard are peerless warriors.
Our purpose? To defend this galaxy and all the good within it. We are untainted by religion. There is no political agenda other than our own. Those that have proven themselves beyond redemption will receive swift and just punishment on the field of battle. The era of Sith power and religious persecution is coming to an end. The age of the rational thinking sentient is upon us. No longer will the galaxy's people need to break their backs in service to false gods.
Prepare yourselves filth, the Legions come for you.
The Legions: Who we are, what we are

The Dreadguard were first formed fifteen years ago by the clones of the Confederacy. Initially established as a defense force, this group eventually developed its own culture that slowly evolved into what it is today. The Dreadguard are warriors unbound by political loyalties or religious beliefs. They will fight so long as it serves for the galaxy's people as a whole, and their work is never truly done.

Our warriors all have one thing in common; we host no connection to the force. With amazing advances in vong-shaping technology, it is possible to make any one of our soldiers force-dead with a .02% mortality rate. Those who join our Legions may take the path of a Scribe or a Knight. Scribes serve general purpose jobs, ranging from maintenance to standard infantry duties. Knights are the face of the Dread Legions; warriors clad in power armor, equipped with power blaster cannons and custom made war blades, they are the warriors that make the difference on the battlefield.

The Dread Legions are greatly interested in the collection and preservation of technology. Tools of war are preserved and mastered for use in bringing peace to the galaxy. Other technologies are given to those who can make them readily available to the public, though certain techniques such as Vong-shaping techniques capable of being used on humans pioneered by Vong scientists are kept secret.

To the Dreadguard, loyalty is everything. First to your Tribune, then to your brothers and sister. They are you family, your comrades in battle, and those who you will be spending most of your time with when not in combat. There is no such things as animosity between any two Dreadguard. Though rivalries are common, and warrior will lay down the life for that of a brother or sister if the need arises.

As believers in the reduction of religious power in the galaxy, and direct competitors to the New Jedi Order within the Galactic Alliance, the Dreadguard are not particularly fond of their fair weather allies. Though many of the Dreadguard could care less about the Jedi's unchallenged protection of the galaxy, just as many have relations ranging from healthy rivalries to outright hatred for the galaxy's age old protectors. While they are often seen fighting alongside one another on the battlefield, the tension is certainly there for all to see.

Knights

The Legions' collective fist, the Knights are those most often seen leading the charge on the field of battle. Augmented to the extreme, these warriors are both dead to the force, and brilliant marshal combatants.
Initiate: Knights begin their training as initiates. These warriors are trained en masse by a group of Warmasters, and are still learning to live their lives with augmentations.
Knight: Numbering in the low hundreds, the Knights are the swords of the legions. These men and women are expected to hold their own against Sith warriors, and will often fight in squads of 2-6. They make use of whatever weapons are available, be them massive cortosis weave claymores, or a snub nosed blaster pistols.
Warmaster: Those who survive the crucible of war may call themselves Warmasters. These are the most experienced of the Knights, and serve as officers in the field of battle. Masters of their craft, Warmasters are expected to lead squads as assigned by their Tribunes.
Scribes
Neophyte_Scout.jpg
Page: The new blood of the legions, pages are the apprentices. They are attached to the master's of their selected craft, and serve them dutifully until promoted.
Scribes: The most common member of the legions, Scribes make up the bulk of the Dreadguard labor force. From repairing ships, to serving as scouts for the Knights. If the Knights are the fists, and the Tribunes are the hears, then Scribes are the entire skeletal system.
Lord-Scribe: Masters of their craft, these Scribes oversee those lower than their station. From NCOs on the battlefield, to the head cook in the cafeteria, Lord-Scribes are afford the same amount of respect and responsibility as the Knights' Warmasters.
Tribunes

Tribunes: A God among men, glory be to he who attains the rank of Tribune, for he is truly carnage personified. Wielding the legendary weapons of their predecessors, Tribunes wade into battle in power armor decorated with trophies from their past feats. These are the greatest of warriors, masters of strategy, the beating heart of the Dreadguard. A Tribune's word is law, and his dedication to the High Lord and the Dreadguard mandate are unmatched. The rank of Forge-Lord falls under this category, and is only noted as the overarching quartermaster of the legions.
High Lord

High Lord: Master of the Legions, he or she who decides all that the Dreadguard will do, the High Lord is the embodiment of everything that it means to be a Dreadguard. Both wise as he is a monster in battle, the High Lord is the undisputed leader of the Dread Legions. His faith in the cause of galactic peace is unshakable. His prowess unmatched even by his Tribunes. The High Lord is the warrior most deserving, and best suited for the responsibility of guiding the Dreadguard.
OOC: Q&A
  • Dreadguard? Didn't people try that already?
That answer to that question was yes. In the past, the Dreadguard were a prominent force on the board, and have since been one of the longest active fanon organizations on the board.

  • So you want to kill Sith? What else? What do you stand for?
The Dreadguard, summarily the Dread Legions, fill a niche that has not been treated well on the board; powerful independent non-force users. Initially they were founded as a defense force, and have grown over the fifteen IC years of activity into their own culture entirely. They are an anti-religion force drawing from all cultures, with the purpose of bringing peace to the galaxy by any means necessary. Their mission statement includes all of the folks operating on the darker side of the moral spectrum: if you kill people for personal gain, you work the slave trade, run a spice ring, practice extortion, support radical religious ideals,etc... they will come for you, and they will try to kill you.

  • I heard you call these the Mark Threes? What does that mean?
The Dreadguard have had three generations of soldiers. The first were simply vong-shaped force-dead soldiers. The second were slightly modified to fulfill specific combat roles. The third are the most recent. They are heavily augmented, dead to the force, and armed with the best technology they can get their hands on to combat full fledged Sith Lords. These men and women are the personification of war, and you can become one if you have what it takes.

  • You guys are Galactic Alliance? I thought you were independent?
The Dread Legions are one of the factions summarily making up the Galactic Alliance. They control their own groupings of planets, and have a strong amount of say in what the alliance does or does not do. Their leaders are wise enough to know that allying with groups such as the New Jedi Order, the Omega Pyre, and the various other organizations within the alliance is better than working against them.

  • I have an old Dreadguard. Can I rejoin?
Absolutely. Former Dreadguard are given veteran status and immediately given a rank fitting their abilities. Older members are also given access to the augmentations Mark III's are subject to in order to 'upgrade'.

  • This tech you keep talking about -- can you explain?

Each MK-III warrior is issued his or her own custom made power armor befitting their particular skill set. Weaponry is supplied by the alliance, and the Dread Legions' Forge-Lord [member="Ijaat Akun"].

  • I don't want to be a big bad warrior, but other concepts such as the brotherhood between the Dreadguard interest me. Is there anything else I could do?
Absolutely. All MK-III's have support team of soldiers vong-shaped to be force dead. These soldiers serve as the bulk of the Dreadguard military, and their duties range from cafeteria work, maintaining the advanced technology housed aboard the Dreadguard's capital ship, to serving directly alongside the MK-III's in ground combat.

  • What races can I be?
Human. The Dreadguard genome is too specific, and if introduced into an alien species, would likely kill them. Base-line humans and relatives with extremely similar DNA of either gender may become Dreadguard.

  • This seems like another edgy try hard faction that probably won't get off its feet. You guys might have some history, but what makes you so sure you won't fall by the wayside?
We are an edgy try hard faction. The majority of the Dreadguard are psychosis ridden maniacs clinging to their brothers and sisters for the barest shred of affection. That being said, our storylines revolve more around the bonds of men and women at war than they do the blood and guts. If you're looking to roleplay a character with a strong chaos-lore basis, and a support structure to develop that character with, the Dreadguard are for you. We do have plenty blood and guts too.

[member="Kiyron"] - It's alright Little Buddy... Just take your vitamins, sign this waved, subject yourself to about 2,000 injections and over a hundred and fifty surgeries and hypnotic indoctrination brain-washing and you too can be over seven feet tall!

That aside, here is the pending species sub. It is not approved, but it will give others an idea of what we hope to achieve for Knights and such.

Dreadguard MK III

Well then. This is still Tracinya, just a new character :D I made this account specifically to join this faction/species!

[member="Darth Ferus"] - You know what they say about assumptions, lol! And the old DG iterations were a group effort by all accounts, so no one writer really has claim I would say *Shrug* Either way, immaterial. It's being done now.
