Private The Crossroads Contract

Aboard the cloaked Prowler-Class Covert Observation Cruiser Interloper a mission was now underway, a Tier-1 Crossroads Republic Special Operations Command team was gearing up for a crucial state-sanctioned mission. Lia Corrin Lia Corrin had managed, through back-channels, to get the agreement of a rather brilliant young scientist to come work for Crossroads Defense Industries on one, perhaps even two strategically-vital projects. So, the Interloper was in the upper atmosphere of Lothal, in the darkest part of night. Each individual was a highly-trained operator, the best that Crossroads had. Although even the best needed a hand sometimes, which was why they had someone on the ground, watching Liddaat Fuamung Liddaat Fuamung to be sure they would be arriving at the right place and at the right time. So long as their cloaked cruiser remained in the heart of contested territory between the Bryn, the Sith Empire, and the Silver Jedi Concord they were vulnerable. So the entire ship was getting antsy. The entire ten-man team was ready, standing at the entrance vertical drop tubes which operated very simply: A powerful airtight hatch would open, and then each team member would step off, and slip into the night, the ship never having to partially uncloak to open its hangar for traditional long-range insertions. This was a pioneering new tactic for the Crossroads team, with their all-black SOCOM-AAS (Assault Armor Suit) they'd be able to easily breath, see, and communicate with one another as they descended. At pre-determined altitudes their SOCOM-ER (Exoskeleton Rig) system would break their fall entirely without the need for a parachute by using its mix of thrusters, powerful impact-resistant servos, and inertial dampeners to allow them to hit the ground quick and clean, and above all, quietly. Even their CSOR-230 Blaster Rifles were rigged for stealth, designed for covert missions and built-in suppressors and powerful stun settings, their training setting which would be enough to put an adult Wookiee on its back with one shot but keep it alive.

There wasn't a known military presence on Lothal, the flat farm world was peaceful at this point, no signs of warships in orbit, and no signs of army presence on the ground. But the space around Lothal and the trip to Crossroads from Lothal was a long one and a dangerous one. With all of these powers around her it was believed that a special mission had to be undertaken to insure she wasn't intercepted. Therefore, for her own protection Liddaat was going to be kidnapped by the people who hired her, although communications were purposely-vague so she wasn't aware of who'd hired her precisely, it was possible a smart girl like her would probably get a good idea of who it was she was set to work for. The kidnapping effort was being done entirely without her knowledge so that she couldn't be followed and tracked, and with as fast as one of these missions happened it was nearly-impossible to intercept them with anything but a pre-emptively positioned grab team, hence the reason for them being so heavily-armed and combat-equipped, just in case. One thing that Liddaat would come to understand was just how careful the Crossroads Republic's covert operations people were.

"We ready?" Lieutenant Alask Terrano asked his mission manager, the ship's ESD (External Security Department) senior agent on board.

"Not yet, we don't have the confirmation order from the asset on the ground," the man replied tiredly, having been the asked the same question over and over again by the antsy spec-ops team leader, "Just have some patience lieutenant, we'll get you into motion soon enough."

"Yeah, roger that," Alask rolled his eyes as he turned back to his team, who were just waiting less-than-patiently for the go word, "Come on..."

Liddaat had had a foreboding feeling recently, and it kept her awake. She sat where the ancient Jedi Temple used to be, but she didn't know it. All she knew was that it calmed her, especially when she was among the Loth wolves she had grown familiar with. Tonight, there was only a lone pup with her. "You feel it too, huh?"

"Dagger, this is Sentry," Alask's comm stated in his ear.

"Sentry, this is Dagger-Actual, send traffic over," Alask replied quickly, sensing that this was the message they were waiting for.

"Dagger, Sentry, be advised, Phalanx, say again, Phalanx," the codeword for the mission's start was broadcasted for him.

"Sentry, Dagger-Actual, received, moving to Fallout," Alask replied, giving the codeword for them to know they were proceeding to their first phase-line.

"Sentry copies, Dagger moving to Fallout," the ending call was received as the team began to line up and did a double-check on their systems, "Sentry out."

"Dagger we are Phalanx, move to Fallout on my mark," Alask said as the ten men lined up and prepared themselves.

His HUD blinked with nine green ready symbols as everyone got their weapons set and ready and Alask held up one finger and then twirled his arm, the signal to open the hatch and the moment it opened and the green light in the darkened cabin blinked on. Without hesitating Alask dropped through the hatch and his team followed right behind him in sequence. It was a quick and efficient mission plan. They were going drop right on top of their target, apprehend and secure her, eliminating the problem of the approach in open terrain which their cruiser would be monitoring from above. Then a DS-11 "Comet" Dropship would come and pick them up and they'd jump to lightspeed. The team's quiet maneuvering thrusters on their exoskeleton rigs moved them into positions as they assumed a formation as they descended, and as they passed through the clouds they could see the large Jedi Temple. To Alask, who was force-sensitive, he could feel the strange energy emanating from this place.

It only took a couple minutes for the team to reach their deceleration point and the their bluish-white thrusters pulsed into life and their rotated to be feet down and they were now arranged in a circle as Alask hit the ground first, landing between Liddaat Fuamung Liddaat Fuamung and the Temple, kicking up some dust as his inertial dampener and his exoskeleton's joints absorbed the remaining impact, only showing the stress by bending his knees slightly as he then raised his blaster rifle and leveled it at the girl, recognizing her immediately based upon the very flattering picture of the pretty girl who appeared to be just slightly younger than himself.

"Don't move! Let me see your hands," he ordered immediately as his team dropped in around her, leveling their weapons at her as well, red laser pointers were now resting on her from all angles.

Liddaat yelped in surprise as she was surrounded, raising her hands at the order. The Loth wolf pup growled at the intruders, but stopped when Liddaat shook her head, knowing he wouldn't stand a chance. "Go." She told the pup

The specops team just let the little pup run off, and at the sight of the Loth Wolves two kept their attention outwards, not aiming at the dangerous creatures, but being ready to do so. Alask waved a hand forward from off of his weapon and two of his men came up from behind her and quickly lifted the girl to her feet and then patted her down, their exoskeleton rigs making barely-audible whirring noises as they checked her for weapons. Then one of them pulled her hands behind her and cuffed her. Their team leader then came up with a hologram of her to confirm identity, and a scan began to shine up and down her face, and then blinked green, it was indeed their objective.

"Sentry, Dagger, I pass Scalpel," Alask then gave the success codeword, "Requesting immediate pickup."

Above them a light began to shine as a DS-11 "Comet" Dropship began to descend rapidly towards them. Alask then turned to her, and depolarized his vizor, showing his face.

"Don't worry, we're not going to hurt you, this is just theater in case someone is watching you," Alask informed her, trying to put her mind at ease.

Liddaat grunted as she was pulled to her feet and patted down. "What the—" she began as they cuffed her, then stopped, blinking as the light shone on her face. When Alask turned to her and explained, she nodded, confused. "What the kriff is going on?"

"I'll explain in a moment," Alask said as their dropship arrived, but didn't touch down.

He grabbed her into an over the shoulder carry, keeping one hand on the grip of his blaster and got a running start behind two of his men. They leapt upwards, and the thrusters in their hips and on at their feet propelled them up and into the cavernous bay of the dropship. Alask was right behind them, and with Liddaat Fuamung Liddaat Fuamung on his right left shoulder he was sent forty feet into the air. With her on his shoulder he landed on a knee, careful not to bump her head. The young lieutenant let her stand up and the two operators inside helped her into a seat and pulled the harness down from overhead and fastened her into place as the rest of the team jumped aboard. The dropship's hatch began to close as they arrived in full and the craft accelerated away. With their dropship sealed off and climbing with the inertial dampeners engaged Alask stood in front of her.

"Sentry, Dagger, I pass Stitch," he said quickly, informing the command staff aboard the ship know they were now on board and en route back before turning to Liddaat, "I'm Lieutenant Alask Terrano, Crossroads Special Forces," he greeted her, and pulled his helmet off, his dirty blonde hair being somewhat longer than what most people would associate with military men, and the fact he had a thin goatee was additional evidence to the fact they were among the elite, considering that only the elite were allowed such lapses in military grooming standards, "We're here to make sure that you reach Crossroads safely so you can begin your work."

Liddaat yelped as Alask Terrano Alask Terrano grabbed her and hoisted her over his shoulder, gasping as she watched and felt the ground shoot away. When he set her down, she raised an eyebrow. "You know, first impressions are important." She said as they helped her sit. When Alask introduced himself, she nodded. "Liddaat Fuamung." She almost reached out to shake his hand, but stopped when she realized her hands were cuffed. When the work was mentioned, she nodded.

Alask tapped a control on his wrist and the cuffs fell off of her wrist, clattering onto the seat between her and the back she was leaned against.

"No doctor with that title?" Alask smirked, a little surprised at her not including it.

Several of the operators looked amongst themselves, the average age here was thirty-two, Alask himself was twenty-four.

"You're one of those child prodigies huh?" Alask asked as the dropship rumbled a bit as the dropship touched down, but then the entire cruiser jumped into hyperspace.

Alask just smirked as the hatch opened up.

"I majored in warfare," Alask said simply as he took off the seat belt and let his helmet hang from a buckle across his shoulder as the team disembarked into the busy hangar of their cruiser. Outside the bluish white lightshow of hyperspace was zooming on by from right to left.

"This way, there's a cabin waiting for you, and apparently, seeing I'm your escort for the duration of the trip, I'll be in the one next to you," Alask started to lead the way towards a door out of the cruiser's hangar.
