The burden of politics [GR dominion for Tholatin]

As static cut across the screen, Ayden simply sat at his desk with his fingers drawn together in a net. Once again the Republic was consumed with internal power plays and corruption. Oh how he missed the days when evidence of corruption and ill-deeds brought against a member of the Republic Senate brought about a swan dive off a podium and ended with a splat some hundreds of meters below... Now such characters were placed in charge of the Republic itself. It was hardly a wonder then that the Republic had fallen so in these dark times. They did more to hurt themselves than the Sith did thesedays.

Still... A chaotic Republic meant a great many things for the future. "Roland, bring up those schematics and lets see if we can't get our contacts together. I have a powerful need to go sightseeing." Outside the viewport, the swirl of hyperspace illuminated the Corellian's features. The static continued to play out on his feed and he smiled. Oh things were certainly getting to be quite interesting. Now what would happen next?

Dark voids met embers, and for a moment Cira took a deep breath. Her shoulders rose, and her chest sank against the thick folds of the blanket.

"One way or another..." she began, her voice a mere murmur to [member="Sarge Potteiger"], a whisper in the wind, "Revolution will make its way into Wookieeleaks."

Weary humor, rare indeed. But humor none the less.

Sarge shifted, jacket unable to go any tighter around him. So, he opted to take [member="Cira"]'s warmth. He turned, drawing her into his embrace, amused that she'd brought the blanket outside with her. "Yeah," he mutters quietly, the winds picking up as snow began to fall in sheets on the other side of the river. "We should get inside though. No one wants to be caught out when a storm breaks."

Just when Siobhan had been enjoying herself, a naughty Republic soldier had to rain on her parade by shutting down broadcasting! Well, that was unfortunate. A newscaster appeared on screen, apologising for the interruption and citing technical difficulties.

Siobhan looked quite a bit put out, then shrugged. "Well, that's a shame. Just when I was enjoying myself. I suppose someone over there finally realised you shouldn't air your dirty laundry in public. I was looking forward to seeing this drama resolved. Will Lasedri assume direct control and become a dictator? Will the Senate ever sort itself out? Will there be bloodshed? Stay tuned, at prime time," Bringing the glass of wine to her lips, she finished it. Unexpectedly Harmony then pulled the Countess a kiss, meaning that some of the wine flowed into her mouth.

"Game of Stars: Senate Edition! Shame the network pulled it. But not to worry, my Lady. I'm sure I can...distract you," Harmony said sweetly, batting her eyelashes at her boss. The Dahomian would probably never win an award for her wit, but then Sio's own lines were as corny as a maize field.

"That you can, darling. And you've been far too insolent," Siobhan said mock sternness, eagerly locking lips with her harem girl. "Do give Mirien a call. I want her sources to find out what they can about this Republic mess." Doubtless the lovely Ms. Valdier, in the unlikely event that she had not already heard about this holodrama, would find it interesting and perhaps amusing. Call was made, and then the two ladies left the living room to...well, do stuff. Fade to black curtain, exit thread.

Heat doubled in the warmth of his embrace, in the strength in his arms. A small dip of her head would bring the smoothness of her forehead to rest on top of his jacket, the thick lining pressing against skin. His breath fell in a small cloud of condensation, warm by her ear and the thick dreads of her hair.

Forgiveness may come in time. Of self. As it was, right now, he was right. The curve of her cheek gave a subtle rub, and she felt the flex of his arms as she gave a silent sigh of agreement.

With that, both turned, the embrace adjusting as slow steady steps would take them back towards the glow and heat of home. Snow drifts would shudder past, and the galaxy along with its turmoils was left to the shadows of the dark.

She wasn't currently in Republic space, she had just programmed the final hyperspace jump to her's and Connor's final destination, but she was still keeping appraised of things. Her computer had prompted Taeli to check the Republic Senate channel and ... she was speechless. She had watched the entire scene play out, all the way to the cameras cutting out, and it made her blood run cold.

This wasn't good news at all ... it was too familiar to events in the past ... not good at all. What was Lasedri thinking? Did she know who she was starting to emulate? Did she know ... it was quite possible ...

"What's the matter, sweetheart?" Vaudin said as the clones that had just murdered Republic guards entered, "Was it something I said?"

"Empress Lasedri, everyone!" Vaudin said waving his hand at the woman as he walked out. His lopsided grin still present as the large clone stepped is front of him.

"Take me away." he said as he walked passed ignoring the ysalamir bubble. Only two people in the galaxy knew he used the force ever do he assumed it was standard procedure for the new empress.

He walked tall and proud and acted like he was being escorted by bodyguards before stopping 30 meters from the transport.

"Get me a drink would you kiddo?" he said to a clone beside Lusk, "I'm feeling a bit tense."

Faith had not sat down she looked at the Prime Minister as though she had completely lost touch with reality. She looked over as the guards came in leading [member="Vaudin Miir"] away, he who had stood up for Alderaan when few would.

"I protest the removal of Vaudin Miir from these proceedings, and Alderaan votes NO to giving powers to the Prime Minister" Even if there was a law in place Faith would not just stand by to watch as the Republic as the Senate began that slowly steady spiral that had the feel of the Empire.

Faith looked around "Do you not see what is happening!?" Something was wrong horribly wrong she knew that there had been issues but had it escalated to this?

Lusk and his squad of fellow commandos were now outside of the senate building and everything was going smoothly until the senator stopped and asked for a drink. Eyes were on them, the hundreds of clones guarding the senate building were staring at the senator and now that the cameras were offline they could drop the formalities.

"Of course senator, we'll have it onboard." The clone said in response to the senator.

"Senator, I know you are tense right now. But we are not going to hurt or kill you, this is a state of emergency and you need to come with us." Lusk chimed in and tapped at his empty submachine gun.

Lusk gave a signal to the clone pilot aboard the D-22 and had him lift off, the ship hovered in the air and soon touched down within ten meters out from the clones and the senator. Lusk however was telling the truth, the clones weren't going to hurt him. No that wasn't their job, all they had to do was peacefully escort the senator from point A to point B.

<He doesn't deserve this.> One of the Isard clones said in old Corellian.

<Please, just let me kill him on the ship, it will be quicker. We didn't sign up for this Lusk.> The clone continued to speak in a foreign language and soon Lusk responded.

<We have our orders Glitch, I know I don't want this either. But we promised mother we'd protect the republic.> Lusk soon slung his rifle and stepped closer behind the senator.

With the Ysalamir bubble wrapped around them the clone trooper held out his hand and looked down at the senator from behind. The cameras were off and Lusk had to do what had to be done, he doubted the senator was willingly going to get on this ship.

"I'm sorry." He said in basic as he pressed a stun gun towards the senator's back attempting to knock him off balance so they could take him to her, to their commander.

Kay watched in silent horror as everything crumbled all around them, including democracy. Why was this happening? Why now? And what was being done to the opposing Senators after they were taken away? Were they being imprisoned? [member="Faith Balor-Organa"] seemed to be the beacon of hope against this tyranny. If she didn't have execution hanging over her head, Kay would have voted against the measure too. But as such, she had to go along with the current Prime Minister, or Empress as she was now being called.

Kay hated having to be on the wrong side of this issue. But maybe, just maybe, she'd be able to help unravel things from the inside....

The funny thing about all of this was that the Prime Minister had actually not done anything illegal yet. All this commotion had erupted rather prematurely. Not that it was unjustified at this point.

Geneviève scoffed at Senator Trozky's accusations and declarations. It was amusing who showed up at dramatic moments while they casually ignored the Senate's activities at all other times--even the times when key pieces were being played. If the senators had concerns, they should have been voiced long ago. As it stood, they had allowed this to occur themselves. "And I call for a vote of no confidence in yourself, Senator. Your silence has been notable." No one had been proactive in this war like Lasedri. Everything had been left in her lap; left to her devices. And now they wanted to blame her for taking control when no one else stepped to do so. "The Senate has run its course today. It appears that anyone can show up on a whim, but the people elected to serve have no desire to do so themselves unless they can obtain time in the limelight.

"Consider the Senate suspended until reform is made." The Prime Minister retreated from the chamber and her presence was replaced by that of the clone troopers surrounding the arena and forming lines for the politicians to pass in between lest they should desire the [member="Vaudin Miir"] treatment. Gen glanced at Faith one last time before she disappeared, a look that was almost apologetic but utterly undeterred and awash in her own charisma broadcasting what she had become.

"Kashyyyk votes Aye on the matter of admitting Tholatin into the Republic, and furthermore extends an offer to discuss the trade of Kashykkkian lumber in return for certain mineral mining rights to be determined later."

That's what Jack Sparrow, Captain and Senator, was going to say, before the discussion nose-dove into a power grab and many people began yelling and running about. He'd been commed from the bridge of the Black Pearl by his Wookiee First Mate, Dewkazza, who'd apparently been watching the debate from the ship, and had wondered why the feed had been cut. Jack liked Tholatin. He had some good contacts there, and had spent more than several nights enjoying the hospitality of certain people who preferred a lower profile. In fact, one of his favorite fences kept a very nicely apportioned building on Tholatin. The planet was also quite near Kashyyyk, which made Jack feel as if he were supporting a neighbor, or at least a neighbor of the Wookiees he represented.

Jack rose. "Kashyyyk agrees with [member="Faith Balor-Organa"], senator from Alderaan, and also objects to the removal of [member="Vaudin Miir"] , as well as much of what is happening at the moment, mostly around weapons being raised. So what say we all take some deep breaths, sit down, and stop pointing things at people, eh?"

She nodded, "commander prepare a ship, we're going to check this out." she turned back around only a few minutes after the trooper took off at a moderate jog. When she got back to where they were stationed, she spoke to the moderately sized group of scouts they had here. "My Padawan and I will take a few scouts and check this place out. We'll dispatch the probes...Commander please remain here and see to it that the AT-ATs arrive so that we may begin the process of testing."

She bowed to the others, looked to Caleb and then made her way towards the ship that had just kicked up the dust in the surrounding area. She stepped up on the platform with the help of one of the troopers.

I made my way over to the dropship at a jogging pace stepping on to it. However just before it took off I used the force to grab the seismographic read-outs that I left on the table. I think they might come in handy in a dark and desolate canyon system. As the ship lowered in to the crevasse the cliff sides became sharper and more jagged. I held on as the ship did some sharp maneuvers and a crazy decent. As I regained my composure I couldn't help but say "Master...I've got a bad feeling about this". When people say that it's usually superstition but when a Jedi says it then trouble is sure to follow.
