Kaelen couldn't help but let out another laugh as she spoke.
There was something strangely refreshing about how direct she was. No hidden meanings, no political dance like he was used to.
Just honesty.

"They're hot." she said
He wasn't used to people seeing them so that wasn't something he heard every day.

"I'll take that as a compliment." He smirked, as he layed in the chair,
When she asked whether she'd look good with them. He actually took a second to think about it.
"Hm..."
"You would,"

His crimson eyes followed her gaze as she looked at herself, eventually his eyes began tracing along one of her arms and to the rest of her before returning to her face. "Something that follows your shoulders... maybe down an arm and down to the rest of you, ill have to show you where i got all mine done."

When she said she'd join him in the pool later, the corner of his mouth lifted again.
"I'll hold you to that. it does look nice in there."

The conversation drifted just as easily as the breeze coming off the water.
Kaelen laughed softly. when she said how Kaelen might get bored
"I somehow doubt that."
His crimson eyes met hers for a moment.
"You've kept me entertained so far."

His brow raised slightly when she mentioned Malsheem.
"Never heard of it"
Truthfully, there were a lot of places Kaelen hadn't been. Jutrand Academy had a way of keeping students occupied nearly every hour of every day.
"Whats it like there."

Her next question earned another quiet chuckle.

"Oh, they don't really just hand them out honestly"
He shook his head.
"But its not like there are any rules against it."
He moved his finger slightly against the crimson markings on his chest

"I got these during breaks. Piece by piece."
"Whenever I'd get approved leave or had enough credits saved, I'd find an artist somewhere willing to put up with getting choked if they made any mistakes with them"

he said with a laugh.

"Anyways Somehow I doubt Malsheem as peaceful as this."

The last time they had been on Brosi had been a remarkably different sort of pace. A war, bloody battle followed by a brilliant party at the fire. Now they were here and things were actually peaceful. No radiation to speak of. No burning wastelands. It was actually rather beautiful and Babygirl had taken a liking to this new Brosi.

Even as Mercy went to fetch herself a pile of beers, the dragon had flown off, to circle around the misty mountains and hunt some prey. Maybe later on Mercy would join her.

It was a surprise to Mercy when she walked back and realized someone had taken her table. The large woman paused there, tilting her head a fraction and then smiled in amusement. Somehow the two of them found themselves together even with no war in sight. She had felt the presence of her sestra, of course. Blood called to blood. But she had assumed that Srina would be first to sign up for the hunt, rather than spend her time here. Her own instinct had gone towards the hunt as well.

The fight, the bloodlust... the hunger, but Mercy was trying to do better now.

Her conversation with Arris Windrun Arris Windrun had shifted around her priorities... somewhat. She was the Face of the Covenant, its Empress and Lord, that came with responsibilities.

It was time to stop fighting that.
"…Can you—"

But they were already gone, fleeing from intensity that had no end. Srina settled back in the chair and set the empty plate on the table with a blank stare. What had she done wrong?

Her frown deepened.

Suddenly large thick arms wrapped around her from behind.

"Poor thing, they didn't even finish listening to you." Mercy murmured softly in Srina's ear, kissing her under it and giving a squeeze. Only then letting go and placing the platter of beers on the table next to the huge platter of meat. In truth Srina should have guessed that this table belonged to her sestra, who else would command such a platter of meat?

"Would you like to share the plate with me?"

This in itself was a great gesture.

Mercy did not share her food lightly.

Seris' grin broadened the instant Kaelen accepted her observation as a compliment. She nodded vigorously. "It was." There wasn't a trace of teasing or embarrassment behind it. To Seris, calling someone hot ranked among the better compliments a person could receive. She saw no reason to disguise it behind flowery language.

His thoughtful hum caught her slightly off guard. She had expected an immediate answer. Instead, he actually considered it. Her own crimson eyes drifted down over herself while he seemed to do much the same. Seris wasn't particularly self-conscious, but she did find it amusing that he appeared to be evaluating the question with genuine seriousness. She looked back up just as his gaze returned to her face.

The suggestion earned a thoughtful tilt of her head. "Maybe." She traced a finger idly along one shoulder. "They'd probably compliment my scars."

Her eyes wandered back over him without the slightest effort to hide it. This time they lingered almost entirely on the crimson artwork decorating his body. "I'd like to see where you got yours." Another approving nod. "They turned out really well."

When he promised to hold her to joining him in the pool, Seris answered without hesitation. "Oh, we're definitely getting in." She pointed toward the glittering infinity pool. "It would be criminal to come all the way here and not." Whether that happened in ten minutes or an hour remained to be seen, but in Seris' mind the decision had already been made.

His confidence that she wouldn't bore him earned another bright laugh. "It's only been a minute." She spread her hands as though presenting the obvious. "So far we've mostly just been checking out each other's bodies." She said it with such complete matter-of-fact sincerity that it scarcely sounded flirtatious, despite very much being so. "We've barely started talking."

At the mention of Malsheem, Seris shrugged lightly. "It's the home of the Kainate." There wasn't much pride in the statement. "I wouldn't exactly call it nice." Her smile softened into something more reflective. "I was only there long enough to be indoctrinated before they sent me out into the galaxy to be..." She paused, searching for the right word before giving a little shrug. "...tamed, I guess."

The moment passed as quickly as it had arrived. When Kaelen explained how he'd collected the tattoos piece by piece during breaks from the academy, Seris laughed. "That's a shame." She shook her head dramatically.

"If they just handed them out, I might transfer from Coruscant Academy to Jutrand." A playful grin accompanied the declaration. "I'd have to compare curriculums."

She listened with obvious interest as he described intimidating tattoo artists into doing careful work, finding the image more amusing than concerning. Then came his final remark. Somehow I doubt Malsheem was as peaceful as this. Seris burst into the loudest laughter of their conversation. The sound carried easily over the nearby music before she managed to settle herself enough to answer.

"Peaceful?" She wiped an imaginary tear from one eye. "I can't remember the last time I experienced peace." She looked out over the idyllic jungle valley, taking in the shimmering pool, the swaying palms, the music, the laughter of Sith actually relaxing together. A content smile crossed her lips. "...Maybe that's why I'm enjoying today so much."

After a brief pause, she looked back at Kaelen with the same carefree expression she'd worn since walking over. "So." She rested an elbow on the armrest and leaned toward him just a little. "Besides collecting tattoos and threatening artists...

“What do you actually do for fun?"

Kivah snorted in wry amusement, pushing herself more out of the water so it ran in rivulets down her short fur. She placed an arm out along the wall, her back to it again as she looked out at the pool and the people in it. A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. "No, I'm not one to care for politics. I'd much rather everyone were more upfront and I hate being tied down."

His admission to getting irritated easily slid off her too. They all had, a mixture of embracing inflammatory emotions connected to their Force powers and all the kids going through growth with little maturity. Kivah has certainly started and ended more than her fair share of fights, she'd also used her age and size to intimidate and bully her way through. Not many apprentices were willing to fight someone twice their size and more than willing to fling them into a wall or break a table across their head. Still, it was a shame that none of them had really kept in touch.

"So, what's the Covenant like? Why'd you go over?" She was curious what made them different. It wasn't like they put out flyers. And Kivah thought there must have been something pretty big to make Varin head over to the other side. Either that or there were no practical differences other than the flag and who stood under it.

Srina didn't startle.

Very little in the galaxy possessed that privilege anymore.

Still, the subtle tension that had settled across slender shoulders eased beneath the familiar weight of her battle-sister's embrace. Her head inclined just enough to accept the barely there kiss and golden eyes lowered to the table as though considering the absurdity of the situation. She could spend hours navigating the complexity of Sith politics, but one simple gesture, from an unlikely source, drew down her guarded posture. "It seems that I am…fearsome."

Even when she wasn't intending to be.

The quiet resignation in her tone trailed off into the faintest hint of dry humor before slipping back to her otherwise impassive voice. Her hand rose to touch Mercy's arm before the larger woman pulled away and her gaze landed on the pile of drinks that were supposed to go with the mountainous platter of meat. Srina had incorrectly assumed this was meant for a group-share. No, no. Even though it was enough to sustain a small battalion, it was really only for the red-head across the table.

"You shouldn't leave your food unattended, Sestra."

Survival warnings first among Sith that very well may want them dead. Mercy ruled with fire and Srina with ice—Not everyone enjoyed either of those things. Some thought the flame incinerated too much while others thought the cold too passive. Still, she looked to Mercy, studying her in silence at the offer of sharing a meal. It wouldn't mean anything to anyone else. The giantess could be explained less with words and more with instinct. Food ranked surprisingly high on the things she guarded. Finally, the slender Empress relented…"I would…Thank you."

Srina reached for one of the smaller cuts rather than one of the choice portions, also on instinct, leaving the best cuts for Mercy to enjoy. Then, as an afterthought, she lifted one of the beer bottles. She generally despised liquor, but she didn't want to be rude. That didn't make her eye it any less nor treat it with anything more than suspicion…But, she took it. That was progress. "I was warned once by an old friend to be careful about accepting food from our hostess…"

The King of Korriban had been amusingly vague. It had reminded her of a story about a whimsical world through a looking glass, with a late rabbit, and a very, very mad hatter.

"They never said why."

The wintry woman lifted her fork and knife to cut small bites of the meat, wishing there was something remotely green on the tray, but anything there seemed to just be some accidentally snatched-up piece of garnish. Not really meant for eating. There was fruit on a nearby table that was arranged on ice in colorful glasses, but she stayed where she was. "You seem to be recovering well…"

"At least your appetite has."

Considering she had been sustained on twenty bowls a day of "medicine" that Srina kept preparing, seeing her in the sun, enjoying herself—it was a welcome change. The pale woman had still not quite forgiven herself or the Iron Covenant for Humbarine. It was time for things to change. She did not like the idea of waiting around to see where they might strike next, to be caught in a moment when she could not give her fullest. To be attacked here…It would be a slaughter.

No matter how many weapons she had waiting in orbit.

"It seems that I am…fearsome."
Srina said that right as Mercy was about to sit down in her chair, but instead she paused, looking down at her with a frown.

"Hmm..." Brows furrowed in thought and then. "I don't see it."

Having declared that Mercy finally sat down. The chair had been reinforced, specially for her, but still it creaked and groaned in protest at the sudden weight being placed on it.

Mercy's declaration should not surprise Srina. Even at the start, when they hadn't known each other, the Mountain had not treated her like others. Not with reverence, but not with disregard either. What Srina had first assumed to be blatant disrespect had been something else entirely. It had been Mercy simply treating Srina as a friend, because she had simply decided Srina was hers. Even when Srina hadn't decided that Mercy was her friend yet.

Such was the way with the Mountain however.

Arris Windrun Arris Windrun and her had become besties over beating each other to shit. The former had complicated thoughts about her relationship with Mercy, but for her it was relatively simple.

Murder besties.

"Mm, I trust Madrona A’Mia Madrona A’Mia ." She finally said after giving it a moment of thought, then carving a big chunk of meat off. She looked at the small piece that Srina had plucked out herself and then snorted. The big chunk of meat was deposited on the plate in front of Srina unceremoniously. "She would not do me harm, not after I shed my blood for her planet and buried the hatched with her beau."

Primarily the latter.

The fact that she didn't try to rip Darth Strosius Darth Strosius ' head off again during their last meeting here said something.

"You seem to be recovering well…"

"At least your appetite has."

"I am more or less recovered, yes." Her face darkened for a moment as her thoughts slipped to the nightmare haze of recovery it had been. Not something Mercy wanted to repeat ever again.

Then her expression brightened once more. Especially once Mercy saw Srina picked up one of the bottles.

"Is it time then, darling? Are we drinking until the moon claims the sky?" The smirk was palpable, she knew that Srina didn't often drink.

Kaelen couldn't help but smile as she doubled down on the compliment.

"Well. thank you:" he said to her,

His eyes followed the motion of her finger tracing along her shoulder.
"They'd probably compliment my scars."

He nodded toward her shoulder before his gaze drifted briefly across the faint scars she'd mentioned.
"It shows you know how to fight and take a hit, I like them" he said, looking at her with his crimson eyes as they spoke

When she admitted she'd like to see where he'd gotten his own, he laughed.

"I can take you there."

Though another thought immediately occurred to him.
"...Assuming the artist doesn't lock the door when he sees me coming."
His grin widened.
"I wasn't exactly the easiest client."

Kaelen couldn't help but smile again as Seris pointed out that they'd just spent the last few minutes checking each other out.
He rubbed the back of his neck
"I suppose we have." "its been.. Calming."
There wasn't an ounce of embarrassment in his voice as he spoke

His smile softened slightly as she spoke about Malsheem.
Indoctrinated.
Tamed.

Interesting choice of words but not that extreme when it comes to the Sith
He didn't pry. Everyone had a past but there was definitely more to this story he would like to learn about.

When she joked about transferring to Jutrand just for the tattoos, Kaelen laughed again.
"After your fifth lecture on logistics and supply chains, getting stabbed starts sounding like the more enjoyable option. It would be fun to see the differences between the Sith factions."
Then came her question.

"What do you actually do for fun?"
Kaelen was quiet for a few seconds.

"...That's actually a harder question than I expected."

"Don't laugh..."

"I actually like cooking."

a beat later,
"The Academy food is good of course for someone of my rank,"
"But i don't know, It's fun making something yourself sometimes."

“Politics and social gatherings are an entirely different battlefield. One I am still learning.”

He spoke as she pushed herself up, following her gaze over the pool at the familiar and unfamiliar faces.

“A different kind of focus, a different kind of nerves to hold temperament. If you show even a hint of emotion they celebrate victory.”

Varin took a moment after she asked why he joined the Sith Covenant. A question of genuine curiosity, and Varin was not much of a recruiter, he never tried to sell the Sith Covenant to someone, he instead echoed what his calling for it was. The truth was, it just felt right.

“Some would call it the will of The Force. I simply found an opportunity to meet my goals and took it by the throat.”

He slowly stood up, towering over those near them.

“I can tell you why I stayed. It is a more interesting answer.”

He picked up his glass once more, taking in a short sip before he held it in his grasp, his eyes looking into the liquid.

“They gave me opportunities to personally test me. Build me and attempt to break me. Many times I have accomplished their deeds and their missions and have gained standing, influence, power. The typical things Sith want. I stay because they are help carving me into who I need to be. A conqueror, a warrior.”

King.

The word thundered in his head, though he did not speak it.

“They share common goals with The Sith Order. No, I don’t feel I betrayed them, my Master is still with The Order, and Korriban will always be my home away from home, but here I have actually gained something. I was not stuck with other faceless Sith programmed to die as foot soldiers and cannon fodder.”

He looked down to her, his gaze flicking from his drink to her.

“Sounds dramatic, I know. But it is the truth.”

"Look harder, Sestra."

The words didn't have any venom, but anyone who knew of the Blackwall Empress personally or by reputation would have disagreed. She was quiet in comparison to most Sith, seemingly soft, but that couldn't be further from the truth. She was patient—With eyes that were thrice as wise when they were full of stars and frost. A ghostly smile brushed past the kiss of her lips before it disappeared as if it had never existed at all…Until Mercy decided she wasn't eating enough.

Srina regarded the much larger portion that had appeared on her plate with the same expression one might wear after an unexpected military promotion. Her lips parted to protest, but she accepted the change a moment later. Picking and choosing her battles. It was easier to accept what the giantess offered, and she needed to save her cards for when she really needed to "argue" with the Sith Lord.

Accepting the loss here didn't harm her at all.

"I do not distrust the Hordemother…We have fought together many times.", she continued after a moment, returning to lightly carving the meat, making sure each bit was relatively the same size. Everything the wintry woman did was meticulous to the point of insanity, precise, in a way few would understand. Her tone was oddly fond for a moment before it shifted, closing off, as it always did. She could only exude so much warmth before she began to break out into hives. "I distrust the sense of humor who offered the warning."

There was a meaningful distinction, even though it might fly past the warrior across from her. Whether or not it seemed that their host would dose her with some sort of enlightening psychedelic was less likely than another Sith choosing to manipulate what they ate. They were not at war with one another, and yet they always were—In perpetuity. At the mention of Mercy's recovery, her gaze lingered on the muscle-bound Firrerreon for the span of a heartbeat.

"You frightened me."

It was a cruel admission. Srina feared no man, no nation, and no monster. She was a Queen of Dread and had thus learned to control not only her own fear but that of those around her. That didn't make it any less real. That didn't stop the matter-of-fact words from carrying through the air with the grace of the sharpest knife slicing through flesh. Watching her battle-sister struggle to recover made her gaze shift back down to the meat on her plate, and she took a small bite. Distant. "I would prefer not to repeat the experience, just as I assume you would not want to repeat Coruscant."

Some of it, sure. Beating Imperial Scum bloody with their own severed limbs? Fighting the crocodile? Those were all things she assumed the Core Empress would repeat in a heartbeat, but the moment her head hit the broken stone floor…Things changed. They, changed. Mercifully, the subject was changed.

Eyes full of yellow-gold corruption settled on the bottle in her hand, skeptical, because she couldn't even imagine the flavor. There were times when she had indulged Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean had had the occasional fizzy drink or wine, but she rarely imbibed. "Until the moon claims the sky?"

She reached across the table and clinked the necks of the bottles together gently, a little awkwardly, as if she had never done such a thing. If only there could be an evening where she was merely "sestra" and nothing more. But…Being an Empress was not a mantle she could choose to take on and off at will. Heavy was the crown, and it always pulled down, down, down. "I don't know if I can make one beverage last that long…But I can stay with you."

Her eyes narrowed as she drew back and raised the bottle to let it rest against the side of her neck for the moment. It was terribly hot, and despite her light clothing—She could feel herself overheating. She was better suited to colder environments. "You outweigh me by several hundred pounds. There is no reasonable way that I could survive drinking with you all night."

An elegant eyebrow raised, expression edged with teasing challenge.

"Is this how you wish to kill me? How cowardly."

Revna could not remember a time where she exchanged her Sith robes for loungewear more appropriate for time spent at a pool. In fact…when she actually thought about it, she realized she had never been to a ‘pool party’ before. She’d been to state parties and events held by the Sith elite before…but nothing quite like this. She couldn’t say no to the opportunity to simply relax and set aside her concerns and worries for a short while.

And she certainly couldn’t say no to Lady A’Mia’s invitation.

Like she needed a reason or excuse to drop by Brosi to see her dearest Neti friend, her Soul-Sister.

When Revna arrived planetside to the jungle resort, only a few patrons had arrived. Revna spent some time connecting to the wild heart of Brosi, before she changed attire into something more appropriate for lounging at the poolside - a simple black with gold stitching bikini top and bottom with a sheer golden full body beach dress that did nothing to hide the various scars as well as the elaborate Sith tattoos and brandings that marked her skin and showed all others that she had overcome trials and tribulations that would have killed most others. Markings that set her aside as a Darth now, and not the simple acolyte that once hid in her Master’s shadow.

Other than the (now few) precious moments of personal time she had with King Caedes these days, no one else had ever seen this amount of skin before. Revna felt an odd mixture of self confidence and the prickling of unease from exposure.

After accepting the necklace of flowers that were given to all guests, Revna ordered her first drink from the tiki bar and sashayed her way to a lounge chair by the pool that overlooked the surrounding jungle of Brosi, idly wondering if she would see her lover here this day or not. She dearly hoped so - she missed him fiercely - but she knew that the duties of a Councilor did not stop on behalf of a pool party. Caedes was one to immerse himself in his work - oftentimes too much, in Revna’s opinion.

Once she seated herself, Revna sipped on her beverage and let the heat of Brosi’s sun soak into her skin. Soon, more guests began to arrive - familiar faces, and others that Revna did not fully recognize. Varin, her Apprentice, was here. The Dark Council was represented as well with Gerwald Lechner and his beautiful wife. The hostess of the event was there as well, looking absolutely stunning in her white pool attire. There were many others too, a myriad of voices rising up into the jungle air around her.

Revna listened with a small and proud smile as A’Mia gave a small speech to those in attendance. And judging by the faces she recognized, and those she did not - it seemed as though the integration between the Sith Covenant and the Sith Order might be off to a decent start. Revna lifted her glass in toast to A’Mia’s speech, then settled down to people-watch and enjoy her drink. Perhaps someone would approach and make small talk with her or she would be left alone.

Either way, she would enjoy her time here, before the looming threat of war pulled them all into its violent embrace.

Naedira's hand remained comfortably in Gerwald's as they stood together overlooking a planet that should have been a war-torn mess. Brosi looked…Vibrant. Her thumb traced an absent and familiar path across his knuckles with the warmth of the afternoon settling across her skin. The humid air was heavy with flowers and rain, and for one fleeting moment she wished they could simply exist inside the peace of it. No fighting. No war—No ghosts.

His question settled over her gently, and waves of auburn hair shifted like molten chocolate when the wind blew in their direction. The smile that found her lips was immediate, but it didn't quite touch the mottled chestnut brown of her eyes. "Of course I do."

The statement left her with practiced ease. It was too instant, too easy.

For the briefest moment, her expression did not change, but behind the hollows of expressive eyes there were only more wells of emptiness. She searched anyway. Reached for sunlit waves that should have been there, warm sand beneath her feet, Gerwald laughing, some memory of the two of them that should have been there…But there was nothing. Only darkness.

Only the sound of glass screaming through an atmosphere that was not her own. The scraping of claws against stone and the suffocating certainty that each day the Nocna Mora had stolen another piece of her until she no longer knew what had been taken. Her fingers tightened around his without realizing it, and her eyes remained on the infinity pool in the distance. "The water was cold…"

The lie was assembled from fragments of probability rather than memory. "You stayed in longer than I did.", Another lie for his benefit, but it sounded believable. It sounded like something that could have happened when she was with the Knights Obsidian and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. She hated herself for how naturally these dishonesties flowed—But turned swiftly to look up at him and change the subject before he could look too deeply.

She leaned up on her tiptoes and pressed a distracting kiss to his chin.

The breeze hid the unsteady breath she drew, and she leaned into it so she could lean into her husband. Naedira could deceive almost anyone in Sith Court. She had spent years now surviving it by saying exactly what others wanted to hear. But…It was harder to fool Gerwald. The Dread Wolf knew the cadence of her heartbeat. He knew the scent of her fear, her grief, the sting of her deception. He would have caught it before the words fully left her throat.

She knew he would.

"…I…", Naedira paused as the next lie refused to form. Her shoulders lowered by the smallest measure and strength left her body. Not from weakness, just exhaustion. It was exhausting to lie to him. It was painful to lie to him. She hated it. "I wish…I remembered."

Her voice was so small that it would barely reach him, even with his wolf ears. It was lost to the jungle below, and she tilted her body so that her head could rest against his shoulder with a defeated thump. "I wanted to…Just for a moment."

The Empress of the Order had used science to re-create her body and her abilities to make a composite of the fragments of her memories and those that Gerwald held…But they were incomplete. She had a lifetime with her children, with her husband, but many things from before that time were entirely blank.

He had tried so hard to save her for so long.

Naedira just…Didn't want to remind him of it. A quiet, bitter breath escaped her.

"Every time I think I've reached the limit of what was taken from me…I discover another empty place."

For once, both the Princess and herself had been granted a brief reprieve from political gatherings and obligations. CT-312 could have remained near the festivities, a relaxing afternoon beside the resort’s pool had been one of the options Quinn Varanin Quinn Varanin offered her. Instead, the Scout had chosen the jungle. The Princess would be with her peers and safe amongst them. It would’ve been too crowded for CT-312’s liking and it had been some time since she had been given the opportunity to conduct field work through dense woodland.

CT-312 accepted one of the Nightspore Blaster Rifles that were being distributed to those wanting to participate in the hunt. She turned the weapon over in her hands, inspecting it from stock to muzzle. Her glove thumb passed along the safety selector before testing its weight against her shoulder. As she lowered the weapon, her HUD displayed the provided list of potential game. Each species ranked according to its threat level.

Her visor looked towards the broad stretch of grassland separating the resort from the jungle. CT-312’s HUD zoomed in, drawing the landscape closer. BARCA began identifying heat signatures and movement patterns across the open terrain.

A herd of Iriaz graze beneath the sun, their bodies moving slowly through the tall grass. Several younger animals remained near the center while the larger adults wandered around the outer edge. One or two occasionally lifted their heads to survey the plains.

CT-312 continued panning toward the far side of the clearing.

A watering hole rested near the jungle’s boundary. There was a cluster of Grantaloupe crowded along one bank. Their narrow heads lowered to drink. Amongst them were several Uller, less graceful and considerably more alert.

The magnification of her HUD eased away, beyond the open grassland and watering hole stood the jungle. It stretched in every direction in a seemingly endless wall of rising vegetation. Broad leaves overlapped in dense layers, swallowing much of the sunlight. Mist clung between the trunks, stirred only by the occasional movement of something unseen deeper within.

From a distance, the landscape appeared almost peaceful.

CT-312 knew better. Lurking inside were dangers awaiting for who underestimated it. The Scout watched as several of the other participants crossed the boundary and headed straight into the jungle. Some moved in pairs, others formed small hunting parties before disappearing beneath the canopy. It didn’t seem like any of those were interested in the smaller game. Rather than pursuing the grazing herds in the open, most were eager to find the predators waiting farther inside.

A deep roar rolled through the jungle.

It began as a distant vibration beneath the ground, growing until the sound swept across the plains in a low resonant bellow. Flocks of winged creatures erupted from the canopies, scattering into the sky. The trees trembled beneath their departure.

Across the grassland, the Iriaz herd froze. All the heads rose in near perfect unison. The Grantaloupe pulled back from the water, while the Uller turned toward the jungle. Their thick rigid bodies hunkered down as their attention was on the darkened tree line. Faint ripples spread across the watering hole despite the absence of wind.

CT-312 remained still. She listened as the roar faded into the distance. For several moments the plains were silent. Then one of the Iriaz lowered its head and resumed grazing. The others followed gradually. Everything resumed as normal at the plains and watering hole. CT-312’s visor remained on the trees. BARCA cycled through the creatures list and no conclusive identification appeared, there were no audio files that were provided. Something was waiting deep in that jungle. Something big.

A series of uncertain beeps sounded inside her helmet. CT-312 glanced toward the corner of her HUD where BARCA’s status icon flickered. Speaking quietly amongst herself, “What do you mean, if we are going in there?” The answering chime rose in pitch. “Of course we are.” BARCA responded with a louder sequence of beeps that sounded remarkably close to a complaint.

“We have this—” She raised the Nightspore rifle and settled its stock against her shoulder. The sights of the weapon aimed toward the jungle’s edge. “—And several pieces of our own equipment.” Another worried trill followed. CT-312’s brow lifted behind the visor. “You never complain. What’s going on?”

BARCA produced a questioning series of tones. Text appeared along the side of her HUD.
[ CONFIDENCE IN CURRENT OPERATIONAL PLAN: UNCLEAR ]

CT-312 lowered the rifle slightly. “You asking whether I know what I am doing.” A single affirmative chime answered her. “More or less.” An amused breath escaped through her helmet’s modulator. She adjusted the rifle’s sling as began heading forward, her boots pressing a path through the grass.

“You think I wear camouflage just for show?”

BARCA’s reply was immediate. CT-312 elected to ignore it.

Instead of following the other hunters directly into the forest, she moved towards the open plains and watering hole. Perhaps CT-312 would run into another like minded participant.

Quote of the Moment:
"Her soul was too deep to explore by those who always swam in the shallow end."

___________

Sophia arrived late enough to avoid any speeches (if any, Force help them) but still early enough to ensure that everyone noticed. Her sunglasses disappeared into perfectly styled ebony hair as she surveyed the resort with a critical sweep that somehow managed to look effortless. It took precisely three seconds for her to decide that the décor was acceptable, the drinks would need judging, and that half the people present were actively engaged in committing severe war crimes against fashion.

Her own attire, naturally, was flawless.

A crimson wrap fluttered lazily behind her over a black swimsuit that was cut with just enough red to remind everyone that House Marr still lived. That they appreciated luxury just as much as they appreciated power and that Sophia, the little princess, refused to sacrifice one for the other. A pair of impossibly expensive heels clicked against the stone as she made her way toward the bar after accepting a flower…thing…with the sort of gracious smile that suggested she'd allow it to live.

"I'll take a star scream surprise with TWO cherries. Not three, two. Shaken, not stirred with a blast of that honey-foam on top."

The order was met with a blank stare till she shooed the bartender away to figure it out at his own peril. Ruby-red eyes drifted across the gathering until they landed on one exquisite Revna Marr Revna Marr . Ah, her people. Perfect. Snatching the sincerely, dangerously alcoholic beverage from the tender, she threw down a disgustingly large tip before flouncing off—Leaving him wide-eyed, red-faced, and very confused. Classic Sophia, of course.

"Look. At. You—my Lady Queen."

The littlest Marr crossed the remaining distance without the slightest hesitation, and she leaned down just enough to inspect her cousin from head to toe before giving an approving click of her tongue. There was an open seat that she helped herself to, and crimson lips curved with something that passed for warmth. "You clean up remarkably well. Very intimidating—Very mysterious. It's giving…"

Her hand tilted this way and that before she decided on a phrase.

"I commune with Sith Spirits on the sly, but SPF still matters. I support it."

Sophia was pale as snow and was definitely obsessed with her skincare routine. No blemish or gray hair would ever stand a chance against the Atrisian products she'd purchased. They really were next level when it came to anti-aging and fine lines. No wrinkles, full stop. A beat passed before the corner of her mouth twitched and she leaned across the table to steal Revna's drink. She took an unapologetic sip before her nose scrunched in theatrical judgement.

"Mm. Tragic…We're getting you a better one."

She lifted her hand and waved toward the same bartender that she had just harassed and saw fit to drag him away from his post to fix the weak-trash Revna had been given. "Take this swill and bring us another one of these…My poor cousin does not deserve to have that inflicted on her."

"Uh...Yes ma'am."

Sophia stared, suddenly, losing all her sweet and bubbly bratty charm. "Do I look old enough to be a ma'am to you?"

"Uhhhhhhh no ma'am."

She glared harder.

"MissI mean miss."

Sophia waved him away, reminding him that he was lucky they needed drinks or his days were numbered. She looked incredulous at Revna and tossed lengths of perfect black hair over her shoulder while she leaned forward conspiratorially. "Honestly, some people…"

The smile on her lips returned.

"Soo…How are things? How are you? How's the King?"

There was something very interesting in her tone on the word "King," and perfectly arched eyebrows moved for extra emphasis. Obviously, she wanted Revna to dish like a tabloid. (And hopefully soon before she got any older and the bartender started calling her grandma.)

After all…Inquiring minds needed to know.

Gerwald knew the lie before she reached the second sentence, not because it was poorly told, but because it wasn't hers.

Anyone else would have believed it. She had chosen details that sounded ordinary enough. The water had supposedly been cold, and he had supposedly stayed in longer than she had. It sounded like a memory carefully assembled from pieces that fit together well enough to satisfy anyone who hadn't shared a lifetime with her.

He had.

Gerwald had listened to Naedira tell stories from their years together more times than he could count. When she truly remembered something, there was never any effort behind it. The memory simply found her. Sometimes another detail interrupted the first. Sometimes she laughed before she finished speaking because she had remembered something neither of them expected to matter after all these years. Sometimes she would stop altogether, distracted by another piece returning to her before she could finish the first.

This hadn't been like that.

Every word had arrived just a fraction too carefully, each sentence built upon the last instead of flowing from the one before it. It was convincing enough that no one else would have questioned it.

Gerwald always fell back to what Srina Talon Srina Talon had warned him about. There would be consequences. Even the pieces she could remember before the Nocna Mora had taken her memories belonged to Gerwald.

His thumb continued its slow path across the back of her hand without betraying that he had noticed. When she rose onto her toes to kiss his chin, he accepted it for what it was, not an attempt to deceive him, but an attempt to spare him. He understood the gesture for what it was, another reminder that even now, she still tried to protect him.

Then she told him the truth.

Without a word, Gerwald slipped an arm around her waist and drew her gently against his side, lowering his head until it rested lightly against hers. Music drifted across the veranda behind them while the rainforest whispered below the cliffs, yet both seemed impossibly distant as he listened to the quiet defeat in her voice.

Every word settled a little deeper than the last because he could not escape the thought that this burden belonged to him as much as it belonged to her.

He had refused to let her go.

When everyone else had accepted her death, Gerwald had continued searching. He had crossed impossible boundaries, challenged fate itself, and brought her home because a galaxy without Naedira was one he refused to accept. He would make that choice again without hesitation, yet standing here with her in his arms, hearing another piece of her life had been stolen forever, he could not silence the quiet thought that perhaps he had asked too much of fate.

He had wanted her back so desperately that he had never truly considered what she might have to leave behind.

His eyes closed for only a moment as he pressed a gentle kiss into her hair. The apology remained unspoken because placing his guilt upon her shoulders would only make hers heavier. She already carried enough.

His arm settled a little more firmly around her waist as he looked back across the rainforest that had reclaimed a world once scarred by war. Nature had healed what it could, but some wounds were too deep for time alone to mend.

"I know," he said quietly, his voice carrying neither pity nor false reassurance, only the quiet certainty that had anchored them through every joy and every sorrow they had ever shared. "We'll work from there."

He lingered there for another moment before easing back just enough to look at her. A faint smile finally found its way onto his face.

"You said the water was cold. There's only one way to know if you're right."

Gerwald slipped his hand into hers, lacing his fingers through her own before turning toward the shoreline. Warm sand shifted beneath his feet as he led her away from the veranda, away from the music and conversation, toward the gentle waves rolling across Brosi's beach.

He glanced back over his shoulder, the smile lingering just a little longer.

"Come on, let's find out."

Brosi had changed in so many ways.

She had only set foot on the planet once before. During the second battle, she had chosen to command the storms along the Black Wall. Unfortunately, she had never gotten the chance to fire the Mors Mon.

One day.

Now, looking upon the world, it was difficult to believe it had once been overrun by the undead. Life had returned with remarkable stubbornness, flourishing where horror had once rooted itself. It was a quiet reminder that even the most scarred places could heal. Much of that was due to the planet's mistress, A'mia. Quinn only knew the stories about the ritual that had brought forth the life-giving tree.

It also left Quinn with a renewed appreciation for her peers, especially after meeting the other side of that coin.

She found herself missing 312's company. The clone would've undoubtedly abandoned formalities by now in favor of disappearing into the jungle to see what horrifying creature she could conquer.

The soft click of a compact echoed as Quinn finished touching up the red lipstick on her lower lip. Snapping it shut, her attention drifted toward the woman accompanying her.

Arris seemed...

Off.

Normally Quinn wouldn't have thought twice about it. The android was an enigma by design, and trying to unravel her usually proved more trouble than it was worth. Today, however, something felt different. Perhaps it was because of what they had shared on Abregado-Rae. Ever since then, Quinn found herself noticing the quieter things.

Arris had always been capable of getting under her skin. Few people irritated Quinn with such consistency.

Yet, watching her now, Quinn's expression softened. Something sat beneath the surface. She didn't pry.

Instead, she slipped her arm through Arris's. She leaned against her with effortless familiarity, gently steering the android toward the gathering. Quinn would never admit it aloud, but she missed Arris's bravado. There was something strangely endearing about it, even if it regularly increased the odds of Arris taking a shot at her. It was uniquely Arris.

And today...

It was missing.

Quinn intended to fix that.

"You'd think accompanying me somewhere would put you in a better mood," she teased quietly.

The cigarette balanced between Arris's lips caught Quinn's attention as a thin ribbon of smoke drifted upward. She wondered if it was the same kind Mercy used to smoke. She'd never been particularly fond of them, though she'd accepted one before.

Curiosity won.

Reaching up without asking, Quinn plucked the cigarette from Arris's lips. Her fingers brushed the android's hand before she brought it to her own mouth. Her lips closed around the filter as she drew in a slow breath.

The smoke was smoother than she expected.

Whatever blend Arris preferred, it was certainly better than Mercy's.

A quiet smile tugged at Quinn's lips as she exhaled, the smoke escaping in a slow stream.

"Yours tastes better than Mercy's."

She returned the cigarette to Arris as casually as she'd stolen it. Words alone didn't feel like enough.

Quietly, beneath their conversation, Quinn reached for the budding thread that now bound them through the Force. She brushed it with the lightest touch, letting her contentment seep across the connection along with something she would never admit aloud—the quiet comfort of Arris's company.

Seris' smile brightened at the compliment toward her scars. She hadn't really thought much about them. They were simply... there. Little reminders that not every fight went perfectly, and proof that she'd survived every one that had mattered.

"I like them too." Her fingers brushed absently over one of the faint marks near her shoulder. "They remind me I won." Whether that was technically true in every instance hardly mattered. She looked back to Kaelen with another carefree grin. "And if I didn't..." She gave a casual shrug. "I am strong enough to survive a beating. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to see the whole collection sometime." There was a suggestive purr to the statement and a wink.

His offer to take her to the tattoo artist immediately earned an enthusiastic nod. "Good."

Then he suggested the artist might lock the door upon seeing him. Seris laughed. "I'd get him to unlock it." She said it as though it were the most obvious solution imaginable. "If someone does work that good, they shouldn't get to retire just because you're difficult." Her crimson eyes wandered over the artwork decorating his chest once more. "I want the same artist."

When Kaelen admitted the last few minutes had been... calming, Seris blinked once. That wasn't the answer she'd expected. She tilted her head curiously. "Really?" A small smile tugged at her lips. "I've never really thought about calming people." Usually the opposite happened. "I guess I'm happy to make an exception." She settled comfortably into her chair again, one leg folding beneath the other.

The mention of endless logistics lectures earned an exaggerated grimace. "That sounds awful." She shivered dramatically. "I’ll stick with the Covenant’s academy then. I'd rather get stabbed too." Not because she enjoyed being stabbed...She simply knew what to do with that. Supply chains sounded considerably more confusing.

Then came his answer about cooking. Seris stared at him for half a second. Then smiled. A genuine, warm smile. "I like eating good food." She nodded once, as though that naturally settled the matter. "So you'll have to cook for me sometime." Again, there was no real sense of asking permission. It simply sounded like a pleasant future event that had now entered her schedule.

She leaned back, looking him over with another openly appreciative glance before returning to his face. "I wasn't expecting that answer." Her grin returned. "I figured you'd say fighting." Or hunting. Or something equally Sith-like. Instead...

"You make food." There was something oddly endearing about it. "I think that's even hotter than the tattoos." The compliment rolled off her tongue with the same effortless honesty as every other one she'd given him.

She reached over to steal another piece of fruit from the platter resting between them before popping it into her mouth. "So..." She pointed the skewer lightly in his direction. "When you cook...Are we talking simple campfire meals, or the kind where you make something fancy enough that people stop talking because they're too busy eating?"

Following the arena fight that Aileni found himself in, fortune seemed to favour the young Shadow as he had been able to survive that event. His skills having been noted by several Sith as above the standard for a random fighter pulled from the pits. He mentioned that he was a hunter on Dathomir. Which seemed to intrigue some, mentioning that there was a hunt happening soon to really test Aileni's abilities. Reassuring him that if he could handle witches and monsters on Dathomir that hanging with them and hunting with them would be easy.

Which was how he found himself on Brosi, holding a weapon awkwardly that had been handed to him. Aileni had never hunted with a blaster rifle before. He barely knew how to handle one. Common sense gave some guidance on how to handle it but the Sith who had dragged him out to the hunt were galivanting off. Chasing some big monster without him, mostly because they were terrified of how poorly he would be with the rifle seeing how he held it. There was a big sigh, he had hoped to make some connections, friends through them but he was now alone walking through the air. The rifle was interesting gift, he wondered if it was something that was being given permanently or only during the hunt?

It would be good practice to use the rifle for smaller hunts, something that was easier to take down with a single hit or two. If he was in more danger then Aileni had his personal bow and the Force if he absolutely needed it. The Sith sword he took from a dead guy was left in the arena, Aileni cursed himself that he should have kept it. Not just a trophy but another weapon for here, and in general. Made sense to claim the weapons that were won in battle.

For now, Aileni crouched, low to the ground and checking the game trails, his ears pricked for any noises as he went into his hunter mode. Aileni was keen to show that he was skilled, he was valuable and he was someone to take on to train. Seeing a trail of tracks, Aileni placed his hand on the earth to get a feeling for how long ago they were made. Studying the indentations of the prints for an idea on the beast. "Close... Depending on how fast it is..." Aileni muttered to himself as he grabbed his rifle and followed the trail.

Setting aside her drink, Kivah held her left forearm, looking at the intricate sleeve of Sith-Cathar symbology and script that wrapped around her silvery data tattoo. "It's what being a Sith is about, strength and power." She added as Varin fell silent. "Most of the galaxy too. It's one of the reasons I was such an ass to Leshanna when she won Vardin's student race and then puked on the finishing line. Needed to stiffen her up before going in front of the Lords. All of you really." That and Kivah had hated having her time beaten after she'd already crossed the line. "So I get going to the place that gets you what you want."

Picking up her drink again, she finished it and climbed out of the pool. "You want to go check out the food tables with me, or are you fine here?" She'd never admit it, but the fresh meats were far and above the normal shipboard fare she was willing to buy, and the smells given off by the roasts were leaving her belly feeling hollow. A'Mia was also over that way, and Kivha could pick up another drink on her way over to speak with their old teacher.

Arris was never one for parties. Not real parties, anyway. A night out at a dirty club on Narsh? Sure. A dive bar in the 13s? Yeah. But this...

The cyborg felt like she was casing a joint. Not attending a social gathering among the Galaxy's most violent elite. The juxtaposition alone should have thrown her off, but it was merely that feeling of being out of place that took hold. Still, she dressed for the part - throwing together an outfit she hadn't worn since the time a few of the Sith Covenant infiltrated a charity ball for the Tapani refugees. Only unlike then, she didn't have that lifelike flesh beneath the sheer. It was all black, synthetic fibers and exposed metal armor molded in the shape of a more organic body.

She took another drag and--

Quinned slipped one arm through hers and pulled Arris away from her brooding corner. She wanted to protest, if even lightly, but like times before, she wasn't able to beat Quinn to the punch.

'You'd think accompanying me somewhere would put you in a better mood.'

"I'm not fun at parties," she retorted dryly. It was a lazy excuse, and the cyborg's monotone suggested it was a deflection more than an answer.

"Hey!" Arris called when Quinn snatched her cigarette.

She watched the younger woman inhale effortlessly, exhaling a roll of psychedelic smoke. Arris, mildly surprised, smiled faintly.

"Glad you like them," she murmured fondly, squeezing two fingers around the smoke. "Don't make 'em anymore, either." She said through another drag.

"My favorite brand, though. I took my winnings from Ruusan and hunted down every last carton I could find."

Arris looked around the gathering. There was food, drink, conversation... and a pool. A really nice pool. Unlike Quinn, she wasn't exactly dressed to swim, though.

She looked at Quinn. About to say something yet again, but then an odd relaxation rolled over her. It wasn't the cigarette. Arris had been smoking them for so long; she knew how they were. Far from an expert in the finer mysteries of the Force (let alone the basic ones), she was wholly oblivious to Quinn's influence, or any connection born between them. Her mind remained blind to those senses, so Arris chalked it up to feeling comfortable. A new, maybe scary, but not entirely unwelcome sensation.

"Listen..." She finally spoke, a bit more at ease. "Give me a role to play - I'll be anyone you want," she murmured. "Because I'm actually terrible company to keep. But I'm good at pretending."

The corner of Kaelen's mouth twitched upward as Seris mentioned he might be lucky enough to see the rest of her scars.
"I'll remember that."
Whether she meant it or not he wasn't entirely sure. Either way, he wasn't about to complain.

His hand drifted across the crimson markings climbing over his collarbone. as he watched her looking at the marks on his chest as she spoke about the tattoo artist "I don't think he'd have much of a choice in anything. with both of us there to be honest." he said with a laugh, most people wouldn't mess with one Sith let alone two.

When she mentioned Covenant's academy he shook his head, "I've only spoken to one person briefly about what you all go through over there, we have a few academies in the Order but Jutrand is definitely the best of the best, you actually need a high ranking sponsor to even be admitted" he said,

"Whats it like at your guy's academy's" he asked her before returning her eyes to Seris,

listening as she spoke, there was not even of hint of asking for permission from her voice, it was more akin to someone listing off facts, just something thats going to happen. a laugh coming from him, "Seems like I have no choice, Not like I'd be able to say no anyway." a beat later, "Don't get me wrong, I love fighting but mainly when there's something to lose, or more over, something to Gain." he said before she continued, relaxing in the chair more as she complimented him, taking a drag from his cigarra, "Lot's of compliments" he wasnt used to this unless it was some suck up who needed something from him. but it seemed like she was anything but,
But there was still some suspicion in his voice.

He continued speaking at her next question, "They're definitely not simple," he said while faking being offended with a laugh, his hand over his heart
before his hand returning to his side and shrugging, "I make what I can but the more complicated the better, dont tell anyone, but sometimes ill make some of the cooks at the acadamy give me food or spices or whatever ill need for my meals." he said, his smile getting bigger.
