The Broken Path

Distracted she drummed her fingers on the table thinking about what she was preparing to do. The Republic reborn in Wild Space on a planet she had to look up Ciomia. Temperate with lush green forests.

It seemed a suitable place for whatever remained of the republic.

It still gave her chills thinking about it even though now it was years ago and should have been forgotten. But no it was there as if it happened just yesterday. She wouldn't think about it she had promised herself.

The Alderaan Delegation was busy preparing for this meeting. They were going in to watch the Senate. A place the Faith should feel comfortable she had spent much of her career in the Senate. But she had to remind herself that she didn't know them, and they didn't know her. Would there be representatives there that she did know?

Had others escaped to this distant hidden Republic to avoid the critical eyes that would have followed them about the core.

Maybe.

Alderaan would discuss trade, discuss the current state of the galaxy, and then decide how they would react to this Republic.

"We are getting clearance now be on the ground shortly" Faith nodded. She stood behind the pilot she always liked watching the approach to a planet. What did it look like from far away? The deep blues and greens that invited them to come against the deep black of space a shining gem.

"Bekka be sure to have names and positions if you know them ready for me." Ana would have known them all by now but Ana had retired to raise a family of her own. Everything changes.

Alderan had a strange past from what Harley knew, probably due to the fact that is had been blown up in the past by the former galactic empire and then later rebuild before the galaxy wide plague. How? probably with the huge asteroid field that inhabited the space, though the exact process was not something the senator had much knowledge on. Perhaps it was the same method they where using to bring Corellia back to it's former glory, but said planets where very different.

Still to this day the Organa family still reigned over the lush and now quite plant, having suffered from a Sith attack not long ago, said Sith attack bringing and end to the FWC. A sad sight and small blimps into the future of the galaxy, where the Sith brought destruction on all those who apposed them, leaving ruin and destruction in their wake, thankfully the people of Alderan managed to recover, after all if they could survive a death star then anything else was child's play.... okay that was a bad joke.

"Senator Fenstermacher, [member="Faith Organa"]'s ship will be landing soon", came a voice over Harley's communicator, "good, good, I'll be down in a minute". Getting up from his temporary office the Echani business man started to make his way down to the landing area in order to greet royal woman, why it was usually him representing the Republic senate all the time was never really explained, but perhaps it was just his more sociable behavior.

It was on all account not something he'd care to deal with and at best he could only mutter under his breath. As something, he did not really sign up to do when he was called to take the post thought he knew it is a possibility. But then again things seemed to go well for the most part that is with despite everything that was going on within the Teraan household of late. That it seems they young Count seem to take things in stride and keep up with much if not all his obligation or duties. That is up until as of late when for the most part as all thing had started small. Where in the young Count would slip out their custody or disappear off on his own in a day or two? Which for the most part he'd did well cover up and brush off as perhaps as one would say the Count's way of blow off steam. Especially after the rumors began that he seems been distracted with not so much what but by whom. Which as best he'd tried pry or coax out the young Count.

Had become more and more of a silent issue between the two especially when he ended up as become sole heir of their family estate. With the passing of the late Dowager...followed by his sister abdication for her stake as Countess and moving off to their country estate. That the young Count seems to become more distant as much he drove himself deep into managing every as best he could. That as of late he'd become so exhaustedly worn out that he was by no means in any shape get to this meet in time. So doing what he could he'd sort made up a plan smooth things out wherein. He figured he'd step and stall things a bit as he tried to get him to the meet hope if anything that. By the time they arrive, Count is able or rested enough to attend to his duties. At any rate like it or not it meant he'd have been the face that would attend represent him if need be till by or after they land.

Moments away from landing Faith looked at [member="Kista Bralor "]message she felt her heart stop dead. Bud was alive? OMG..."my son is alive.." she said out loud. Bekka looked up, "Yes Mam Theo is on Alderaan preparing for another trip around Alderaani space.'

Faith looked over.."yes yes he is.." They didn't know about Bud they were too young. Faith suddenly felt...her emotions twisting up...but she had to answer her granddaughter, //transmission to Kista I don't know sweetheart maybe he is waiting for the right time.// end transmission.

Why hadn't he called her? Timing? Anger? Feth she just didn't know.

"Mam we are landing.." Faith nodded on cue...she needed to focus her mind couldn't be all over right now.

Within 15 minutes the ship on was the ground and Faith was headed down the gangplank towards the Republic Representative. "Who is meeting us Bekka?"

Bekka stepped closer, "Senator [member="Harley"] Fenstermacher "

Ok...mouthful for a name...Fenstermacher...Fenstermacher........reminder her of a cheese she once had...OH!!! stop that she admonished herself...."Ok I got it Senator Fenstermacher....ok."

She smiled and moved followed by the delegation. [member="Ja’rrod Categaern"]

[member="Faith Organa"] |[member="Harley Fenstermacher"] | [member="Kista Bralor"]
It was then hiding under as seem outer appearance of calm lie a somewhat underlying nervousness seeing as if nothing else. With all his training and time spent out on mission seem nothing had prepared they young officer for this. Though he knew given all the intel he had of the current situation it was bound to be inevitable. But for what its worth as he all but began by meeting up and fall behind her highness Faith assemble delegation. And stick to as much he could to what had been protocol. As although in part he'd thus wanted to approach and brief her as well as to his presence rather than the Count at this time. He knew to note the change in her highness voice and stance that something of a personal matter came thru beforehand. At which time not wanting intrude on the heels of such matter and add to the seem tense atmosphere of the meet as it is.

For as much he'd knew and was all too well aware off given his status within the Teraan household. That on all account as much as the Alderaanian and its delegation as a whole were on shaky ground. Given all the shift and battles that were going on outside its borders or its allies thus far none so harsher still as it were for the Republic. And that is coming to this meet there were equally much to be gain or loss for both party....so a strict adherence to protocol and such would be favorable for both side. So instead quelling this thought, for now, he instead stood his ground and take note of who it was that he overhears they were to see in this meet. To which he hears to take note to be Harley Fenstermacher...a name who thought he didn't know personally as he assumed the Count did. He no less knew enough off or heard thru couple intel briefing....smart, well connected as she was volatile. As as far reports indicate she was believed be of Enchani decent for the most part...owner of her own corporation and senator to the planet of Nal Hasaaka.

At which time while it seems contemplated on these matters... adjusted his along with his men and representative envoy secretary of Count Andulfwithin the delegation. That he noted her highness move foward no sooner had she concluded the conversation with her family to the head of towards the meet. At which time with the Count envoy by his flank and two his men covering the rear they soon followed suit to move to follow her lead. As just then his com slightly crackled to life as a lone message came thru...the Count was mobile but might not be able to make the trip there. Which on all account sort drew his ire but then again what else can one do but stick to the plan? So with still, some reluctance thought strong adherence to duty he figured to just suck it in and soldier on. Hope if nothing else that nothing else goes awry.

Halrye's eyes kept look on [member="Faith Organa"]'s ship at is came closer to landing, himself accompanied by a small group of republic guards, though more there for ceremonial purposes then actual security. It was common knowledge that the Organa family was not the 'trickster' kind, or unlike other ruling families did not have some super secret Sith lords in their midst.

The ship from which the monarch arrived on was quite the luxury looking craft, himself able to sense a few people at the top of the gang plank ready to disembark upon landing. 'I wonder who else if with her? perhaps on of their ministers or another family member? or some sort of guard, she is the current ruler, it be sensible to always have a small protection group where ever she went'.

Even more so with how the Sith viewed the planet of Alderan and what it stood for, though hopefully today would contain more light of heart talk with mutual growth in mind for each presiding government.

It had been if nothing else not exactly how he intended things to go but then again. In the back his mind the words of his late father no less could be silently heard as he slightly writhing in pain while laying in the confines of his personal bedchamber in their estate.

'Everyone thinks its so easy...as they all think it so. That this house is no less as pathetic or weak as the other.....that without such things as mighty fleet or such hold in a major industry like the rest but they think wrong. For in truth albeit the fact we may not hold such sway as that be consider holding in any major industry such as shipping or manufacturing.....and have not a mighty standing army we hold something far more deadly as it is prized. That being the integrity and fortitude to hold such influence and wealth that we for centuries kept hidden as much guarded under lock and key. And soon my dear boy you will eventually inherit it all....if so long that you can grow a spine and pull your head out the clouds. Know your place and learn well....for the future waits for no man and eventually the boy shall die so that in its place the man will have to be born....remember that and remember it well.'

At that point that Andulf awoke thought still in pain all he could hope for was that it was not for not. Seeing as he had taken quite a bit of a gamble to see it thru. In that, his own captain of the guards had to insist to keep him locked up and secured as he states 'his own good'. For with the current state of things wherein he being the last heir of the house as danger closes in on them from both his own and outside dangers. To which included threats from a different kind...possibly force user or one the many new fiend or vultures that flew around eye them. One could not tell for certain yet as the investigation towards the current attack on his person or so it was presumed to be still fresh. Captain Ja'rrod had taken it upon himself to see his safety as he took it upon himself to attend the rest his duties for next few days or as soon he was clear be well enough been heal from his ailments or injuries.

Behind her walked her assistant Bekka and Count Teraan who often got appointed to be the ambassador from Alderaan to new places. Missing among her staff currently was young [member="Marina DeVoe"] Faith was unsure if the young woman would show.

She smiled and took in the details of the landing area but kept on a steady path to meet the Senator. "Senator Fenstermacher thank you for meeting us. I look forward to seeing how your Senate works and what the Republic is doing in this part of the galaxy." Faith was curious very curious about what this republic did and what could Alderaan do with them.

It was then thought perhaps Ja'rrod that be the end of it but then again he seems been sadly mistaken. For despite barely healed to point it had not outwardly had been visibly apparent his injuries were. That Andulf no less made good escape from his guards and somehow make his way to the meeting point and join the delegation in order perform his duty as Ambassador to Ja'rrod ire. Though there was much that was left unsaid some compromise as well ground was lost in a silent conversation between the two. Where he kept taking it easy and confine himself rest a bit for the duration the trip.

And only asserting take command lead once they landed as he then followed close behind her highness. With Ja'rrod standing close to his flank and two his other guards standing close guard their rear alongside her highness own entourage and guards.

It was although he had been both relieved at the same time a bit ticked off with the sudden appearance of the young Count. Relieved in seeing him somewhat better and about despite how he'd looked when he left him along with the fact that with him here. Relieved him of the burden of having deal with all the duty of standing as his representative. Thought on the side he could help but feel bit tick off not so much at the Count as it was the men he left behind. As with the issue of his well being, safety, and life their top priority. Which in his books those men he left behind fail at the thought in way guess it could not help.
GIven the fact as best he knew the young Count to be...he was if nothing less than as stubbornly determined as his late father was. Which perhaps he bemused himself was a genetic trait Teraan had and would something he had best gets used to. Thought it would probably mean it'll make his duty a tad bit harder. But then again what was done was done... with only good things he could think focus on was that the young Count Teraan was seemingly well and here.

Harley gave a small scan of those present as they came off the docking ramp, trying to gather who they where, [member="Faith Organa"] obviously he recognized, quite the prominent figure, and the center of much events lately after the Sith steam rolled Alderan. [member="Andulf Nicholas Teraan"] she was not sure about, maybe a royal family member? some sort of diplomat? Harley was leaning towards the former due to their poise and the way they walked behind the queen, but he could not be certain.

Giving a smile he strode up to Faith, giving a small bow, "I welcome you Faith Organa, I can say that we do have some interesting talks in the senate here, most likely due to our poise on change and to not repeat mistakes of the past". Meant the usual ways to carry out certain issues had to be worked around, the whole 'Jedi' concept being one of those touchy issues. "I think for the most part you will find the senate similar to most republics, though most senators are usually people of more humble beginnings then political snobs in high up positions".

A sudden anxiety overcame her, as she was plotting a course on her nav comp for a jump to Ciomia.
"Pant, pant, pant...gulp..." She got a hold of her breathing, as she slowly looked over her shoulder.

"Shiet!
...Jerrid!" She exclaimed suddenly relieved to find it was her brother not a meter behind her. He had his arm resting on top of the 2nd row seat behind her in the cockpit of her ship, the Mariner IV.

" Why do you keep doing that?....you sneaking up on me all the time, like that?
Seriously...sigh.." She let out a relief, as her brother then began to laugh. He had always had a keen sense of finding her...even when they were young and playing hide and seek. She was always found. Him?..she really had to work on it...with quite a low success rate.

"Anywho, how the hell did you get on board?...I saw you talking with father when I locked secured the ship." She had spun her seat around to face him. It had been quite some time since they had shared the space in the same vessel. Her brother much like her father when he had come of age had gone off world for studies...much like she had done. Only, she had been the only female in their family to do that. Could have been that she and her brother shared much of what they called a common spirit. They were after all twins. Unbeknownst to Marina, she had been quite unexpected, as she already had an elder sister. Her family had wanted a son so as to carry on the family name. Her mother had not realized she was carrying two until her third semester.
Jerrid and Marina were the first twins ever born to the DeVoe lineage.

Her brother found it hilarious, as whom could she think would have boarded her ship at their home on Mt Cetril?

"No one...
You! " Yes, a good guess now, but that's not what she had thought first.
"I should have known it was you, without me getting all antsy..."

"Ok, well look....for one thing, you didn't say goodbye. Didn't give father nor I a chance to make amends with you on that silly argument of yours." he spoke in an apologetic tone.

"So you know, I didn't think it was silly. You have your prerogative in keeping your word with out Queen [member="Faith Organa"]. If she gave you strict orders not to reveal the coordinates-" He came around the 2nd row chair and sat behind her...now face to face with his sister.

Naturally she corrected him, as she had been given a sealed disc with the coordinates of where their queen wished for her to fly to. The queen's request to his sister had been to not read the disc until she was ready for take off and download the coordinates into her nav comp.
The heated argument between Marina and her father was that she wasn't going to read the disc until she downloaded it into her nav comp. She didn't know what the big deal was, as she was only simply following her queen's request.

"Well, still you could have least waved or said goodbye to me. I wasn't taking his side, you know. He was just worried...
You know how he worries.." Jerrid replied, giving her his wondrous smile.

"Anyway..." He got up and leaned toward his sister.
"....Godspeed." He then kissed her forehead.
"Do at least transmit your love to him before you make the jump...he's truly worried." Jerrid then turned to head out of the cockpit.

"Political snobs you say" she laughed, "I never thought myself a snob but who knows maybe I acted like one while I was in the Senate, only others could possible tell." The Senate..yes she remembered only too well.

"I have come on an alternate mission as well that perhaps we could speak of once all the formalites are out of the way. Could you tell me who currently leads the Republic, and how many senators do you have?"

Why did she ask, she was mentally making of list of people she could approach and talk to about....aide.

"Change Senator is always good, please let me introduce Count Terran of House Terran and his captain of the guard Ja'rrod Categaern, my aid Bekka Rist, and two of my royal guard. I'm sorry for the large, and I may have a staff member joining us late she....tends to want to make her own way. Her name is Marina Devoe I'm certain she will seek permission before landing." Leave it to Marina to be late all the time...she could make on time flybys of the palace but not make a single meeting on time.

"Well you are more royalty, also a people person, not really high and mighty like most other people, also a good sense of humor". "If you are worried about how you sound I can sit in on you talking with others and give an honest opinion on the subject if you wish". People always came off different to other compared to how they think they look, it would not be surprising if [member="Faith Organa"] suffered from that same issue.

"Oh another mission? well I could surely help with that, though I believe that the senate session will be quite short, there is not a whole lot to talk about today, most of the most recent negotiations, especially with the one on the Mando empire have wrapped up". "Still I can give you a run down of how things go, but for the most part i am the only senator here today". Did not help with the Republic had a lack of senators, people more having control over a system and not a planet, a side effect of taking over Hutt worlds and not places with an actual government.

"Oh, quite a pleasure to meet you all [member="Ja’rrod Categaern"] [member="Andulf Nicholas Teraan"], the more the merrier, though I believe that such a group a bigger table for lunch will be needed". "Also I do not mind more people, better that way to have all your important staff member's here in one go then constantly making trips with only one person each time". Though he was curious on this other means on transport the late arrival would come by, or where they just simply late in general?

"Anyways if we walk through here we will be entering the debate room, similar to the galactic senate on Coruscant but a little smaller, in the middle would stands the Chancellor with the senator of Teth who delivers most bills and other seating". "Each senator or affluent representative of certain groups, like the Jedi, each step forward and present their case". "Afterwards a ruling is made due to votes or depending on the argument is put forward and the evidence presented".

Duke Kyle DeVoe

Head of House DeVoe
He watched his daughter's ship lift off the pad, as his son approached him.

"One can admire her just for her loyalties...." Duke Kyle DeVoe said as Jerrid stepped up to him, before he himself turned to watch the Mariner IV disappear into the clouds.
"Not many can maintain integrity like she does, serving both family and queen."

Jerrid nodded, his golden locks blowing in the cold mountain air. They were atop Mt Cetril, their fortress home in Northern Alderaan. His son Jerrid, like the Duke following his own father, were keepers of the Dragonfire. The male heirs of House DeVoe, since the time before the Battle of Yavin, nearly a Millennia past, had been primed in following the Order of Shor.

"As her father, I love her to the last of my breath. She is a gift given us by Berkana herself..." He said, still eyeing the horizon. Marina's ship long gone and out of sight. yet he could still see her ascending, making for open space to her jump point. Of course, that were just in his mind. But the connection was there...in heart.

"So what were the coordinates our beloved queen gave her?" The Duke then asked of his son.

be de beep bep... her droid announced they were 30 minutes to dropping out of hyperspace.

Marina had been awake for well over an hour already and had showered up and dressed already. The jump from Alderaan to Cioma was 11.5 sectors away. In a standard ship that would mean a 10 plus standard day jump. But the Mariner's hyperdrive was rated at 0.3 efficiency and had transverse that distance in just under 3 days.

She looked over to her droid, who was apparently waiting for her reply or possibly get up off her made bed.
"Yes, yes....I'm aware of our countdown." Marina replied, swinging her legs off and down on the floor, as she sat up on the edge of her bed. She had longer jumps than this, but something seemed amiss the past few days since she departed from Alderaan. Even her dreams were off.

Taking a deep breath followed by a good stretch, she got off the bed and followed TK1213 into the cockpit.
The droid had pretty much everything prepared for the transition from hyper-drive to sub-light. The countdown was ticking down, along with the nav comp displaying their relative position to Ciomia system.

4....3....2...1.... emergence.

The Mariner IV dropped out of hyperspace and immediately engaged her sub-lights as she headed to Ciomia, the planet that had appeared as a golf size emerald 500,000 kilometers distance.

be de de do beep... her droid obviously pointed out the asteroid field which Marina should avoid.

"Hu-huh...thank you TK... I thought they were a bunch of discarded cup cakes...some big crumbs... Hehe.."

Be be de deep.... It didn't find the similarities.

"Lol...never mind...lets follow the protocol..."
The coordinates that had been downloaded into the nav from the disc Queen [member="Faith Organa"] had forwarded Marina brought her to Ciamia and with the following instructions to hail the planet of her presence and intent once she emerged from hyperspace.
Marina did so as instructed and soon received a reply from the system with permission to approach and come planet side.

"Thank you control...receiving the landing coordinates now." She confirmed the new instructions and closed the gap between her and Ciomia in a few short minutes.

beep de beep de be be..." Her droid asked.

"I'm counting on it, TK...I'm sure Queen Organa is already waiting for me... it was she whom sent me the disc."
Marina replied as she entered the planets atmosphere.

"Senator Fenstermacher I might have something for them to talk about." She smiled she had not really planned to address the Senate today but perhaps it was just as good an avenue as any other. A list of Senators and their homeworlds would take her a long time to travel, but those in attendance might have a willing ear to listen.

She wasn't sure but she knew one thing she wanted to say what was on her mind and see if someone would listen. She looked back to [member="Andulf Nicholas Teraan"] he was very quiet this trip.

"I miss the days of the Republic not all the drama really just the people and working on projects. Granted I have these things at home but its different somehow..you know?" She kept that same smile on her face one she hoped made people feel welcome.

"What is the position of the Republic on the Sith?" She had to start somewhere and if the good Senator was available, why not ask a few questions about policy.

"Ask away, among the Senate I hold quite a lot of power, Nar Hasska being the primary trade world for the republic", if anyone wanted a message brought before the senate asking him was just as good as asking the senate itself. "As for the old republic, well I was not really involved with that, family life of shipping company, spent more time in space then an actual planet of birth". Come to think about it he was probably born on a ship, heck he was not even able to really call Nar Hasska his home, more just a stop of point in changing the company from shipping and handling to combat craft.

As [member="Faith Organa"] gave the her smile the Ehani senator could not help but smirk back, why was it when political leader smiled it meant they where about to ask something important. Not that he was complaining but it was a dead give away. "Our stance on the Sith... to be honest I am not sure the Sith Empire even considers us a real thing, no actual contact having been made". "Though I will confirm that the Republic does take a hostile stance towards them, and always have, though we are not at war yet in any capacity". Even if he knew a few people that where all for it, though in light of the Mando assault on their worlds due to faulty intelligence it was clear the Republic needed time before it could hope to wage war against any galactic power.
