"The Empire is dead, long live the Empire."

Ord Thoden, an unremarkable system that remained a backwater even while under the Empire, but it was a system which now had the attention of the worst of the regional powers. The Gemstone of Petard is a mining station inhabiting the far astroid belts of the Ord Thoden system, initially an Imperial convict colony the prisoners liberated themselves after the Empire's collapse, turning the station into an anarchist state and become a frequent pit stop for anarchists, revolutionaries and travellers keen to avoid the authorities. One such individual was Orhnan Karr, a former ranking ISB minder in hiding. While the space station enjoyed relative peace in obscurity a regional conflict has come to the station. The Corsair Command, a spaceborne Imperial Remnant who are often described as little better than pirates has besieged the station, looking to capture Orhnan. All the while an insurgent cells of the Martyr Gerrerra Battalion which had been operating out of the station were organising a hasty defence and after learning the Corsair Commands objectives have become eager to capture the former ISB Minder for their own purposes.

The packed cargo hanger filled with workers and their families trying to board overfilled escape transports and shuttles was chaos, shouts and threats between ship crews and desperate people drowned out any sound of fighting going on in the rest of the station. Through the blue glow of the hangar's shields snub fighters and TIE interceptors raced after each other while Imperial corvettes preformed daring attack runs against the station's point defence turrets. It was absolute chaos. His time limit was closing and so he had turned to a desperate measure, mercenaries. Operating under a false identity he hired whoever who would make it on time for this hit. He had no doubt their skill set was more than enough, still he was nervous, he hadn't the time to vett them properly.

Kastav stood at the edge of the crowd, wearing a black flight suit partially hidden by an unzipped brown bomber jacket. His face was obscured by a black balaclava. He watched as the first overloaded cargo shuttle lifted up and shot out from the hanger, at first nearly colliding into an Imperial corvette before being raked with laser fire. As the hanger quietened to watch if the shuttle could make it Kastav used the silence to talk to the team assembled before him.

"Good, you all made it, the credits will be worth your time. I am Heretic, your client and team leader for this little operation. You are now part of Flask team." From inside the unzipped bomber jacket he pulled out a holgram projector and activated it, revealing a Rodian with his head augmented by an AJ^6 cybernetic.

"This is the mark, Orhnan Karr, formerly Minder BP-0439 of the Imperial Security Bureau. He was in hiding until about four rotations ago when he contacted a trade baron on Ord Thoden, looking to sell some information on covert hyperspace routes for safe passage and a new identity. Normally I would've gone after him myself but with all the attention he seemed to have attracted I'll need help getting to him and that's why I have hired all of you."

Kastav turned off the holoprojecter and stuffed it back into his jacket. "We are here to kill Mr. Karr. Secondary objectives are to ensure his cybernetics are damaged beyond salvaging and liquidation of anyone who may have had close contact with him. Whatever secrets that were inside his head will be erased from history."

A scream from the crowd interrupted him, looking back out the hanger bay he spotted a bright yellow fireball. That was all that was left of the first shuttle. He turned his attention back to the briefing and the holoprojecter once again changed to a map layout of the area. "We'll have to fight our way through the battle to get to him. From what I've gathered the insurgents are arming the locals and are massing in the what was hab block Aurek, living quarters and a makeshift market They also have control of a nearby hanger for their fighters and they've siezed this subsection's power station. Some big shots from the innie's went ahead to collect the mark but Imperial boarding pods have severed them from the rest of their comrades, their status is unknown."

Kastav placed the holoprojecter back into his jacket and withdraw a long barrelled blaster pistol from his belt and checked a chrono on his wrist. The next wave of Imperial boarding pods would hit soon. "From the mood of these lot here neither side will be happy to see us. Rules of engagement is anything goes. I don't care what you need to do, Orhnan dies today. Any questions?"

For all intents and purposes, the objective itself seemed straightforward. Get in, kill the mark, and extract. Unfortunately, with the dense crowds of terrified civilians crowding the shuttle bay, and the possibility of running into armed locals Eden immediately sensed that the mission would be anything but simple. Nevertheless, it was a challenge that the gynoid had been specifically created for and one that she hoped would pay well. Her House needed the money and moreover, her personality matrixes screamed for a level of violence that she could not enact during her day jobs.

It would be good to finally satisfy that aspect of her design.

"From the mood of these lot here neither side will be happy to see us. Rules of engagement is anything goes. I don't care what you need to do, Orhnan dies today. Any questions?"

“I am ready, Preacher.” Eden answered first, her photoreceptors lighting up with excitement as a girlish grin formed across her features. While the gynoid had a few very minor questions, she had decided against asking them. In that, she utilized the advice from one of her older brothers—better to ask forgiveness, than permission.

At that, Eden moved back inside the team’s ship and made herself ready in swift, unerring fashion. She checked her rifle—a different option from her typical weapon given the confines of a space station. Nevertheless, she had fitted it with an electro-scope and a silencer prior to her arrival. From there, she checked her energy sword, calibrated her suit’s stealth systems for the environment, and activated its passive sensors. On cue, loads of data were fed into her synthetic mind via the interface link, presented with such exhaustive detail that it would have overloaded the awareness of an unaugmented human. In that regard, she processed it in nanoseconds, all while taking off the small, crop top jacket that covered the upper half and arms of her bodysuit.

The image of her form clad in a skintight bodysuit wasn’t exactly subtle, but that would soon change.

On cue, the suit’s integrated concealment system drew her into the miasma of invisibility, at which point the gynoid emerged from the interior of the ship, before filtering her way towards the edge of the crowd as she moved towards the passageway.

“This is Eden. I’m moving towards the passageway outside the shuttle bay, over.”

ORD THODEN,
OUTER RIM TERRITORIES
PERSONA : IAKAR THIF [CALLSIGN : SPECTER]

niosmol.png

Iakar Thif was never the type of individual to carry out field work, that was usually reserved for those underneath him. However recently, he had come across an message sent by an unknown individual who went by the name of Preacher, who sought out mercenaries to take part in an operation to assassinate someone at Ord Thoden. That information alone about the target being located on Ord Thoden was enough to spur Thif into action and make him take the job himself rather then get one of his subordinates to do it for him, despite his old age.

Upon arrival, Iakar Thif would end up joining small team of four people, including the organizer Preacher himself who proceeded to give the instructions to the group to carry out their assassination operation. The target whom Preacher wanted to kill was a Rodian by the name of Orhnan Karr who once went by the name of Minder BP-0439 who once operated underneath the Imperial Security Bureau. While Preacher mentioned that he had sold information about covert hyperspace routes to a trade baron, Thif knew that that information was merely the tip of the iceberg. The information Minder BP-0439 possessed was a treasure trove that could be extremely valuable for those seeking to exploit the power vacuums left behind by the Empire, and detrimental to those still loyal to the former Empire which Thif assumed Preacher was one such person, most likely being a former ISB or COMPForce Operative seeking to prevent that information from getting into the hands of any group outside the Imperial Military Protectorate.

Regardless of this, Iakar Thif was here for a mission and he would execute it as intended. Once Preacher had finished the debriefing, one of the operatives an individual by the name of Eden made her way towards the passageway outside the shuttle bay, disappearing from view as she activated some sort of personal cloaking device, something in which Thif took a mental note of before withdrawing a single
rail pistol from his holster. "I guess i'll be sticking with you, Preacher. Lead the way." Thif said as he turned around to face Preacher.

The mission was a simple one.

Put a stop to someone's continued existence. It's what her litter had been born for. Their sole reason for being brought into the universe. They had been made to help exterminate other things that lived in the galaxy without question. Julz just happened to feel she was the best of her litter for that particular job.

Not that the dead could challenge her claim by any means without someone's help.

Nor could the two cowards of that litter who still clung to their lives in search of a reason for remaining. She was a far simpler being to figure out however compared to either of them. One sought power to fill the void of bravado, to make them feel bigger than they were. Or at least that was what she could guess since they had split apart.

The other.

Well the other just wanted to keep living for his own selfish reasons. Which she couldn't entirely fault him for since she was pretty much doing the same exact thing. She just didn't have to lie, cheat, or steal to do it. At least not the same way. So long as the credits flowed, and she got to knock a few heads, maybe spill a little blood, she was fairly happy to be anyone's hired goon.

So long as they paid. And this one was paying.

The time for questions came after the rundown of the whole mess that filled the air around them. People fighting for what they wanted. Others fighting for what they wanted. All armed or at least dangerous to some degree while one being in particular got to be a name and proper face they had to look for.

Until they stopped breathing, and their fancy gadgets stopped working, the credits wouldn't flow. And that just wouldn't do.

One of them broke away almost instantly, being watched intently for their willingness to jump into the fray. Something that made Julz grin in delight.

"You boys better keep up." Julz gave them her own farewell, rolling a shoulder before heading for the biggest sign of trouble between them and the target.

It was going to be a blast punching through all of it. And she hoped someone was gonna put up a decent fight before they got to the squackbox they were meant to silence.

<Pretty girl, you want the pods or Hab A?> The claws of her feet dug into the panels, no longer politely kept from marring the interior as she ran after the first one to leave.

"The Empire is dead, long live the Empire."

Kastav watched as the team around him sprung to action. No questions needed, they were professional. He smirked under his balaclava, the simplicity of being a contract killer was something he envied, no complex loyalties to anyone but credits. So far he had been incredibly lucky, the team he had assembled were experts, the bio-droid their marksman and their shistavanen the ideal beserker and Iakar an experienced mercenary and ex-Imperial. As long as no curve balls were thrown at them they'd cut through the station like a hot knife through butter.

As Eden and Julz led off Kastav gave Iakar a nodded and followed through. He held his blaster low, some vain attempt to conceal it as he barged past the oncoming civilians, still fleeing from their hab block. Once in the corridor things began to quiet down and he spoke after the two leading ahead. "Imps should be about to hit the innies in the hab block. We could go guns blazing into the pods or hab or hit the power station for the subsector, knock the lights and any other systems." Slowly he peaked around the corner were he could just make out a few rebels in the distance through the hallway and open door into the hab block. They were setting up the last defences, most of them pointing what weapons they had at the door to where the Imperial boarding pods had hit.

"Probably at least a dozen insurgents in the main hab block. I reckon the Imps'll hit them with double what they got defending." he said as he checked his pistol's power pack was full. A distant explosion rocked the station and soon the sound of a chorus of blaster fire emanated from down the hallway. It had begun.

DT-5108

DT-5108 sat motionless as the boarding pod shuddered when it fired off from the Imperial corvette and towards the station. All around him Stormtroopers made final checks on their equipment, went over entry procedures and psyched themselves for the fight ahead. Once upon a time he would've been just like them, eager and nervous. That was before the Empire fell, before he received the injuries that would make him more machine than man, before he lost his whole team. It didn't matter anymore, there was no point dwelling on the past, the cocktail of suppressant drugs that flowed through him prevented him from feeling emotion, he had nostalgia for better times. He was now just a number, DT-5108, Imperial Death Trooper shackled to his programming that made him a loyal soldier of the Corsair Command.

His HUD flickered as the objectives came on screen. Pictures of known insurgents flashed and disappeared identifying known leaders and priority targets. It didn't make a difference to 5108 though, they'd all be dead by the end of the day for the orders he was given was kill. His cybernetic eye picked up the boarding pod's pilot tense up. They were about to hit the station, his mission was about to begin.

He gripped his rifle and the whole pod shuddered as the pod made impact, burrowing it's way into the station like a parasite. The seat restraints flung up releasing the occupants and in a single fluid motion 5108 was stood up and walking towards the exit, the white clad stormtroopers shuffled along behind him, rifles raised.

<"Clear the doorway. Shoot anything not Imperial.>" he said. The voice scramblers made sure his words came out a garbled mess, only understood by the troopers around him. The pod doors slide open and he emerged first rifle raised to a scene of carnage, dead troopers and insurgents littered the floor of the hallway while what remained of the first wave set up a hasty perimeter. One of the troopers from the first wave looked to him and spoke up.

"Sir! We've secured a beach head for the pods but have sustained 60% casualty rate, we're no longer combat effective!"

5108 lowered his rifle and walked past as if he didn't even notice the trooper, instead going straight for the door to the hab blocks. He grabbed a thermal detonator on his belt and stuck it to the door. As he turned back to the troop he could see the trooper was still trying to talk to him, his body language indicated he was panicked but 5108 heard no words, instead his objective played over and over in his head: Kill. Kill. Kill.

"<Standby for breach.>" the garbled worlds fell out his mouth and within seconds a bright flash enveloped the door and in its place a plume of smoke was left. In an instant a flurry of blaster bolts started flying. Moving while shooting he stepped through the hole in the door, blasting two insurgents with precision fire straight away, his cybernetics guiding and calculating each shot. His HUD flashed as blaster bolts bounced off his armour but he kept moving. "<Forward.>" and the stormtroopers behind followed him in , firing a hail of bolts toward the rebel position. For a brief second he felt a hint of exhilaration, the last remnants of his humanity.

OOC: Kastav here, adding a uh boss of sorts for a bit of a challenge.

Throwing herself just out of the path of a group of sprinting civilians, Eden moved into cover behind a nearby bulkhead as one of the other members of the team—Julz—caught up to her. On cue, Eden’s miasma of invisibility faded, revealing the gynoid’s bodysuit-clad figure to the naked eye as her icy gaze honed in on her partner. In that, the gynoid quickly took the fair-furred, huskily-built Shistavanen towering over her, before offering a playful grin in response to her compliment.

“I’m going to send my probe droid to scout ahead, to get a lay of the station.” Eden replied as she took an insect-sized, winged droid out from her belt, before lightly tossing it up into the air, her tone focused, yet carrying a hint of girly excitement “That said, I think we should both go for the boarding pods…while the boys hit the hab.” She continued. “We’ll cut off the Imperials’ reinforcements, before attempting a beeline for the mark. If we’re lucky…we might be able to extract together using one of the boarding pods, then maybe take it for a little joyride.” The gynoid suggested, before finding her photoreceptors once more drawn into the beautiful, yet predatory gaze of her much taller partner.

“How does that sound for a plan?” Eden added, a distinct lilt rising in her tone as an impish smile crested at the corners of her lips.
