Cooling Jacket: The MG-69 has a special cooling system, which allows for it to fire continuously without overheating. The cooling sleeve, can have canteen water doused on it, allowing for the continued operation of the MG-69.
Barrel Mounted Bipod/Tripod: The MG-69 cannot be fired with efficacy without a bipod or tripod stuck at the end of the barrel, allowing for some turning.
[Optional] Ammunition Backpack: For heavier assault elements, comes an ammunition pack. Basically a giant battery with some backpack straps and a cable, allowing it to hook right into the MG-69. Typically carried by a separate soldier, the MG-69 Ammunition Pack carries approximately 100'000 rounds.
DNA Lock: As is the norm with Prefsbelt Command manufactured weapons, the MG-69 is a weapon which holds DNA locks, requiring it to be registered to a specific unit before it can be fired in the field.
STRENGTHS
Suppressive Fire: The MG-69 is an excellent weapon to use for suppressive fire. It fires with great speed, and stopping power. And with a tripod or bipod, can swing around in vast arcs of fire to stop an enemy advance in its tracks.
Stopping Power: The MG-69 has the stopping power of an E-Webb turret, but can be carried with reasonable ease, and without the necessary set up an E-Webb turret requires. The MG-69 has also in testing been shown to be able to destroy lighter vehicles and some starfighters.
Anti-Shield Capacity: The MG-69 is a maser weapon, meaning it has quite some effectiveness against shielded enemy vehicles, infantry or positions.
WEAKNESSES
Heavy Load: While carrying the MG-69, it becomes almost impossible to do anything else. It's an awkwardly sized, and heavy weapon. Making any soldier carrying it into the fray, uniquely vulnerable.
Statically Fired: Unless mounted onto a vehicle, the MG-69 cannot be hip fired. It must be held in a stationary position. Either mounted on a turret, or fired from soldiers holding a position. The recoil is so heavy, it's been known to break bones.
DESCRIPTION
The Masermaschinen Gewehr Model 869 is a squad automatic weapon designed for the suppression of hostile infantry as well as some light anti-vehicle capacity. The MG-69 as it came to be called, was drawn up the Volkswaffe Company, a Prefsbelt IV based and backed design firm seeking to arm the Prefsbelt Stossjaeger and Special Warfare Command for its assaults on the so called 'Iron Ring', Sith Imperial holdouts blockaded by the New Imperial Navy. The MG-69, although there would be several forerunner designs, the MG-69 would become Prefsbelt Command's new assault weapon.
Designed to fire maser shots, the MG-69 has a powerful internal reactor, which transfers the cells from which it draws ammunition, into high velocity, maser projectiles. Designed to be able to, with great firing speed, and ammunition capacity, suppress entire hostile attacks. Or cover the approach of allied infantry. Thanks to the choice of maser, the MG-69 is capable of damaging, and inflicting harm to shields. So much so, that in testing, one MG-69 was shown to be capable of even shooting down a starfighter.
However, despite its strength as a weapons system, the MG-69 has some drawbacks. For one, because of the added stopping power and kick added to its reactor system, the weapon is incredibly heavy. Making firing from the hip, an impossibility for anything short of a wookiee whose down steroids for the last ten years. This means carrying it into battle, is a job which is incredibly dangerous as it disallows the use of pistols or other small arms.
