"Corrox is the capital city of Mahporeem. Formerly an Imperial Command Center, Corrox quickly took on a new role of importance after the fall of Palpatine's Galactic Empire (and the failure of OPERATION: CINDER) later becoming the seat of power for the ruling planetary triumvirate."
-- A description of Mahporeem's capital city: " Corrox " .

SYPNOSIS:
The Imperial Confederation is no-more.

Only the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant survives as the last remaining stronghold of the late Imperial regime following the end of it's second occupation of the Tion Hegemony and Ash Worlds.

Imperial power has fallen. Law, justice and order have been replaced by chaos.

Only the Sith Order now remain as the dominant power in the Outer Rim Territories with their indomitable SITH EMPIRE. Evil is spreading everywhere.

On the furthest edges of the known galaxy, on the threshold before one could cross into the Unknown Regions, a peculiar organisation serves as host following the acquisition of a new security subsidiary (found several hundred lightyears away) in the Mid-systems. Entrepreneurs and corporate delegates converge in the city of Corrox to hear about new opportunities along the Five Veils Route following the dissolution of Imperial power while Sith influence and barbarism converge to fill the vacuum left behind following the rise of the LEAGUE OF IMPERIAL REJUVENATION!

Vūm, the peculiar and discreet hedge fund from Enarc, seek to debrief attendees regarding the plans of the newly acquired N&Z Tarsai Vigil: a security subsidiary recently purchased by the intergalactic megacorporation colloquially known by most as UMBRELLA. Far away from the bureaucratic interference of the High Republic Senate and their decadent Jedi Order, Tarsai looks to open the floodgates for corporate expansionism and rejuvenation in the Mid-systems while the Sith fist reaches out to squeeze those who live on the other side of " THE BLACKWALL " . . .

" TARSAI "
A story told on Mahporeem.

~

It's the smell, you see. Even as you are coming down from the heavens, to make landing in Corrox, you can begin to taste it in the back of your throat. That awful stench which seems to be a blend, mixture and amalgamation of rubbish that seems to have built up over the course of a millennia. The locals like to call it scrap but this is their way of only trying to be polite. Mahporieem's might have gotten used to it, but for those off-worlders, who find themselves on the edges of the known galaxy, they know what's up. It's something that stays with you after you leave whence Mahporeem's bad reputation even during the heights of the Imperial Confederation. There were often jokes told among the brass about this backwatered junkyard.

None of them are laughing anymore after Brosi, are they?

Nevertheless, the smell can become so potent and wrong that it's enough to make your eyes water. No amount of fabric or coverings can keep it at bay save for, perhaps, a well designed mask; and if you've ever taken the time to see the planets surface from the vantage point of a good cockpit or observation deck, then you will see why the Mahporieem are often seen without something to cover the face. Despite the poverty, and abject dystopia, home does become home eventually, you know? Rue opted for the aquata when she was outside. She couldn't be too sure if the infamous stench was potent and noxious or not but she wasn't going to take the chance. The keen eye would recognise the Jedi tech. Another mystery to add onto the layers concerning the business surrounding the peculiar host found in Corrox.

Vūm, they were called.

Discreet, alien and enigmatic as one could call themselves. They tended to like it that way. Names often remained elusive with these people.

After the hedge fund acquired it's office spaces in Corrox City, they had had a Tintolive tree imported, and since looked after, to be situated in the centre of the room amid consoles monitoring local news and weather reports; long distance networks which were not yet affected by the phenomena surrounding Sith space; and analytics describing stocks among a half-dozen star systems, peculiarly and geographically matched, to sectors that were among those who had joined the High Republic. A particularly long spanning hyperlane (which was called the Five Veils Route) had been highlighted by somebody on one of the monitors. Next to that one were live broadcasts of a race happening somewhere. Pod Racing was the defacto number one sport watched and beloved by the locals. Rue tended to ignore that one. As they say in Theed, " That isn't my cup of tea. " Nabooians, pah.

Sometimes it's hard to tell when someone is a kid, particularly nowadays, when they all seem to be so eager to grow up so fast. But the experienced eye can tell the difference. It's the way they stand, talk and that certain look that they can give you. You know the one. Suffice to say, when the attendees to this summit arrived and took their places, a kid barely older than sixteen playing as hostess would one of many oddities concerning this business. Vūm were small, tiny, barely heard about, and yet it seemed to be in set in stone that they were going to get a little known reputation for being a bit odd.

But, then again, they weren't the stars on show today. This was all about Umbrella and Tarsai. You see, three years ago a project in the defunct Royal Naboo Republic paved the way for the rejuvenation of a certain hyperlane in the Mid-systems, and according to an analysis run by Vūm, given developments happening out here in the Outer Rim, and their extensive contacts in the burgeoning High Republic, now was the best time to take. Yeah, the idea of business and corporate interests being interfered by goodie-do-gooders like the Jedi, or those politicians in Theed, sounded off-putting.

But, then again, there was a difference in trading your freedom and life in order to protect yourself by comparison. Things are looking stark out here. It would be best to avoid the fist that wants to hit you and move ontoto pastures new to deal with certain annoyances instead-- a certain logic that would be the theme of this presentation.

"Hi! I am so excited to see so many people came to Corrox City," Rue exclaimed pleasantly as attendees filtered in. She was standing beneath a Tintolivee branch with their arms folded and aquata in hand. "I know it smells bad outside, but in here, you can breathe easily. Feel free to take your equipment off. We will give it back to ya after it's all over!"

Illithor arrived back to Mahporeem once again, then again he was traveling here a lot for business which was good. But the planet always... Always made him miss the Tarisian Republic even more. The stark contrast of restored ecosystems & a massive sea vs decidedly not. The handful of Sephi subspecies aids like himself walked with data pads in had. Their security of two B2-SH4V6's and six B1-3AR2 moved off to the designated area for security to wait. One may think it overkill, but Mahporeem Imperial Remnant still had disgruntled people that are prone to acts of violence or kidnapping.

His small group walked into the venue to see a Tintolivee tree with a woman stand below its branches.

Illithor mused I see they have lots of money it seems. As he headed to a good vantage point to see the speaker he walked close enough by "Hello, I am Illithor Du'thra. CEO of Du'thra Engineering, Headquartered out of the Tarisian Republic. Thank you for allowing me to attend." Giving a slight bow, before getting to his destination.

To the corporate delegates and off-world entrepreneurs filtering into the newly established offices in Corrox City, the capital of Mahporeem was an abject, industrial nightmare. The choking, heavy stench of a millennium's worth of accumulated ship-breaking scrap and refined slag hung thick in the air outside, causing the visiting executives and dignitaries to hide nervously behind specialized filters and fabric coverings.

As a native-born son of Mahporeem, Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg did not need a mask.

It had been quite some time since he had last been on-world, and he had arranged to visit with his family while he was in town. Beyond the simple pleasure of sleeping in a proper bed for a change, he also did not hesitate to requisition one of the Kragg family drivers to deliver him to his meeting in style. Stepping out from the rear passenger cabin of a sleek, high-end Kragg Orbital Yards luxury transport, Aldus inhaled the familiar, metallic air of his home world with unbothered poise. He wore the midnight-charcoal dress uniform of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy, tailored flawlessly to his rigid frame and completely devoid of the grease that stained the lower-tier system militias. The colorful bars of his commendation ribbons were pinned cleanly over his chest on the breast panel opposite his rank bars. At his hip, resting securely in its polished leather holster, Kragg wore his ornate officer's sidearm that had been presented to him by his father upon his promotion to Lt. Commander, a fitting upgrade over the standard naval-issue hardware provided to many of his colleagues. He had politely refused to hand it over to the Security Droids. On a gloved hand, the polished gold signet of House Kragg caught the pale light of Corrox's sun, serving as a quiet visual reminder to anyone watching that while the Imperial Confederation had fractured, local aristocratic power was very much alive and well.

As a mid-level ship commander, Aldus sized up the rapid expansion of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation and the newly established Tarsai Vigil with a cold, professional eye. As a naval officer and veteran pilot, he was intimately familiar with N&Z technologies, having had several opportunities to work with their tech and lengthy experience pushing their fusion reactor grids and cyber warfare suites to their operational limits in the frontiers. Unbeknownst to his host and his naval superiors, Kragg's presence here was a dual directive. Officially, he was evaluating a vital corporate supplier for the Remnant military. Privately, his noble House required an exact calculation of what this new hedge fund, Vūm, intended to siphon from the sector.

Walking past the security detail of B1 and B2 droids, Aldus stepped into the venue and paused momentarily to offer a polite, measured nod of acknowledgment to the other delegate who had already arrived—the Sephi executive. "Master Du'thra," he greeted smoothly, his voice carrying the effortless poise of a fellow patrician who recognized the weight of corporate enterprise in the sector.

Aldus then proceeded into the main presentation area. The transition across the threshold brought a bizarre, sudden wave of hyper-focus that bloomed sharply at the base of his skull. His eyes instantly locked onto the imported Tintolive tree in the center of the chamber, and then down to the sixteen-year-old hostess, Rue, standing beneath its branches.

There was a strange, unexplainable clarity in the room. He could instantly read the faint, nervous anticipation radiating off the young corporate hostess, and the subtle, lingering scent of Nabooian tech hidden within her aquata filter. Aldus didn't attribute the sudden flash of supernatural insight to anything beyond his own intuition. He did not allow the unexplained feeling to impact his affectation, he merely adjusted the high collar of his uniform, and with almost silent steps moved into a commanding vantage point near the terminal grids.

"A gracious welcome, Mistress Rue. I am Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg. I hope you had a pleasant journey to my hometown," he spoke, introducing himself clearly as his voice carried the calm, smooth drawl of an elite Core-world aristocrat. He offered a brief, perfectly executed nod of protocol to the young hostess, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in the long-distance networks flashing across the surrounding monitors. "The Mahporeem Imperial Navy keeps a vigilant watch on the Five Veils Route. The Admiralty is deeply curious to see how the N&Z Tarsai Vigil intends to secure our shared interests against the barbarism creeping beyond the Blackwall. Some of my fellow officers should be arriving shortly. We greatly look forward to your briefing."

Charles | Corrox City | N&Z - Tarsai Vigil Building:
Charles and his wife arrived via shuttle. He was familiar with the air of the city having been here many times to conduct repairs or report to High Command, the choking scent of scrap and grime that would have forced any newcomer to put on a mask. He had no purpose-built mask for civilian use, only his military grade respirator. Something his wife had refused to put on, saying it was too bulky. She quickly changed her mind when they stepped off the shuttle, taking it off only when they were safely inside the building.

“If people have to live with this air. We Castillonians are very lucky.” she commented, wheezing slightly as she took off the rebreather.

“Agreed,” he replied, wondering if the Mahporeem government had any plans to deal with the pollution. Oh well, it wasn’t important now.

They made their way through the security droids, his wife on his arm like always. She was sticking closer than usual. Probably because it was her first time on the planet. He almost tripped over her foot as he scanned the room.

He made his way towards a familiar uniform, his wife in tow. It was a Lieutenant Commander. He was talking with the host Rue.

“Speaking of fellow officers,” he interjected, stepping into the conversation. “Captain Charles, commander of First Scouting Squadron of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy.” There was no flourish. It was the same tone he always used, whether that be ordering a bombardment or buying drinks.

“This is my wife Hannah,” he continued. “Former Ambassador of Castillon. You may have seen her friend the current Ambassador around High Command.”

He felt her straighten against him.

Hannah | Corrox City | N&Z - Tarsai Vigil Building:
She had been pressing herself against his arm since they stepped off the shuttle. The city was loud and unfamiliar and smelled of things she didn't have words for. She had decided well before arriving that his arm was the best place to be. She always did.

Then he introduced her.

Former Ambassador of Castillon.

She straightened, stepping forward slightly to address both.

“Mistress Rue," she said. “Thank you for the invitation. My husband and I are honored to be here.” she turned her head slightly. “Greetings to you as well Lieutenant Commander." Imperial ranks were easy to read. After all she had been living around them for nearly a year.

She stepped back against his arm.

She had done what was needed. Now she waited, internally calculating the situation around them, though she was careful not to show it.

The room filled around them.

It didn't matter. As long as she felt her husband, she could take on anything.

An Untold Awakening

The transport speeder glided through the rust-veined arteries of Corrox, and I sat in silent contemplation behind darkened transparisteel, as the capital unfolded before me like the exposed souls of some dead ancient mechanical civilization.

Endless junkyards stretched across the horizon, mountains of discarded starship hulls and forgotten machinery rising from the wastelands like metallic tombstones. They glittered beneath the sickly light of Mahporeem's sky, reflecting fractured constellations from countless broken surfaces.

To many, it would have appeared as decay; a monument to failure and obsolescence.

To me, it was beautiful.

Every rusted engine and shattered reactor core whispered of entropy, of civilizations devouring themselves beneath the indifferent gaze of the cosmos.

The gathering I approached was supposedly important, filled with entrepreneurs and visionaries eager to shape the future through credits and commerce.

Their ambitions were of little consequence to me.

While they sought prosperity, I pursued entirely different currents moving beneath the surface of reality, currents older than markets, older than governments, older perhaps than the stars themselves.

The speeder settled upon its landing platform with a hiss of escaping pressure. I rose and secured a small breathing apparatus over my mouth and nose before stepping into the polluted air.

The atmosphere clawed at exposed flesh with chemical bitterness, carrying the scent of industrial waste and ancient corrosion. Beneath the sprawling branches of a Tintolivee tree stood an enigmatic woman, aquata in hand, greeting arrivals with effortless warmth.

Her words drifted toward me through the haze.

"Hi! I am so excited to see so many people came to Corrox City. I know it smells bad outside, but in here, you can breathe easily. Feel free to take your equipment off. We will give it back to ya after it's all over!"

I regarded her for a moment through blood-hue eyes hidden beneath my shadowed hood.
"How generous," I replied softly, my voice carrying the faint resonance of distant echoes. "Though I have learned that what one leaves at the door is rarely what is returned."

With that, I stepped past her and entered the facility. Immediately I felt it, not through the Force alone, but through something subtler. Success saturated the structure like incense in a mausoleum.

Wealth, ambition, confidence, greed, aspiration; countless triumphs lingered in the walls as tangible as spectral fingerprints. The entire building hummed with the psychic residue of achievement, a shrine erected not to gods but to victory itself.

I extended a gloved hand and plucked a frosty blue fruit drink from the tray of a passing service droid, the glass cold enough to bite at my fingertips through the silk gloves as though it carried a fragment of some distant frozen moon within its crystalline depths.

Taking a measured sip, I allowed my gaze to drift across the assembled crowd, watching them mingle beneath the glow of artificial starlight.

The muted whine of a luxury shuttle's repulsors briefly cut through Corrox City's endless industrial chorus before fading into the background. It lacked the ostentation of a noble procession or the intimidating profile of a military transport. Finished in a deep obsidian accented only by a discreet silver Zenith Point Ventures emblem near the boarding ramp, it projected exactly what its owner intended: wealth that no longer needed to advertise itself.

The hatch lowered. A pair of impeccably dressed security specialists descended first, their dark attire tailored well enough that they might have been mistaken for executive assistants until one noticed the subtle bulges beneath their jackets and the practiced way their eyes swept the surrounding streets. Behind them followed three corporate associates carrying polished datapads instead of briefcases, already exchanging quiet observations regarding traffic density, freight movements, and nearby industrial holdings.

Only then did Nolle Tron appear. She stepped onto Mahporeem's soil with measured grace, the long charcoal gown flowing effortlessly behind her as though untouched by the polluted winds that swept through Corrox. Against the dreary palette of rusted metal and smokestacks, her blue-green complexion stood out with almost unnatural elegance, while crimson eyes calmly surveyed the skyline rather than the crowd waiting below. Every movement suggested someone entirely comfortable standing at the center of attention without ever seeking it.

The moment the city's infamous odor reached her, one corner of her mouth lifted into an amused smile. "So that's not an exaggeration."

A slim datapad was offered by one of her aides. "The environmental reports understated it by nearly forty percent."

"They usually do," Nolle replied lightly, accepting the device only long enough to skim several highlighted figures. Freight throughput. Orbital docking capacity. Manufacturing output. Labor availability. Shipyard ownership. Insolvency forecasts. Political stability indexes. Everything she actually cared about. She handed the datapad back before beginning the short walk toward Vūm's newly acquired offices.

Inside, the atmosphere changed almost immediately. The imported Tintolive tree caught her attention first—not because of its rarity, but because importing and maintaining such a specimen on Mahporeem represented an unnecessary expense. An intentional one. A company that spends money on symbolism understands appearances. Her gaze drifted naturally toward the young hostess beneath its branches. Rue. Far younger than expected. Interesting.

Before she approached, movement near the refreshments briefly drew her attention. Another guest had entered with an unmistakable air of self-possession, the hooded woman's breathing apparatus and crimson eyes lending an almost theatrical severity to an otherwise measured demeanor. Nolle caught only a fragment of her exchange with Rue before the woman continued into the room, taking a drink from a passing service droid as though she had every right to be there. Not military. Not another executive, at least not one announcing herself through familiar channels. Interesting.

Nolle lingered only long enough to note the subtle reactions—or lack thereof—from those already gathered. Whatever the woman's business, it clearly wasn't today's presentation. She filed the observation away with the hundreds of other quiet details she habitually collected before entering negotiations. Influence revealed itself in many forms, and experience had taught her never to dismiss the quietest person in the room.

Only then did her attention settle upon two far more familiar faces. Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg. Captain Charles. Faces she had seen more than once in Mahporeem propaganda reels and internal briefings prepared by Prystill Oasay, her former assistant. Military officers whose reputations carried considerably more weight than their appearances suggested. She inclined her head politely toward the pair.

"Lieutenant Commander Kragg. Captain Charles." No lengthy introductions. No explanation. Merely the acknowledgment of someone who clearly knew exactly who they were.

Only then did she approach Rue beneath the branches of the Tintolive tree. "Nolle Tron." There was no embellishment in the introduction. None was necessary. "Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Point Ventures." Her expression remained warm, though distinctly analytical. "Thank you for extending the invitation. I've followed developments surrounding the Five Veils Route for some time now. Political borders have a habit of changing faster than commerce. Trade, however..." Her eyes briefly wandered toward the market displays glowing across the room before returning to Rue. "...always finds the most efficient path."

She folded her hands comfortably before her. "My associates and I are here to learn where private investment can reinforce that path. Zenith prefers building infrastructure that remains valuable regardless of whose flag happens to be flying overhead." The statement was diplomatic enough to avoid offending the Imperial officers present while making Zenith's position unmistakably clear. They were not here to pick sides. They were here to invest in whatever future proved durable enough to justify the capital.

Illithor Du'thra said:
"Hello, I am Illithor Du'thra. CEO of Du'thra Engineering, Headquartered out of the Tarisian Republic. Thank you for allowing me to attend."

"You're welcome," Rue replied happily to Du'thra as he introduced himself. She had never heard of the Tarisian Republic before. Rue did, however, know that the Taris system was in Mandalorian Empire's territory. Making a quiet note of this Rue turned away from Du'thra Engineering's delegate to the other entering attendees.

Aldus Kragg said:
"A gracious welcome, Mistress Rue. I am Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg. I hope you had a pleasant journey to my hometown...

"It took ages to get here, to be honest," Rue admitted to Kragg as he made his journey. Enarc is such a very long way away from Mahporeem. But Vūm had ideas, and with Umbrella in their league, perhaps the time between the Weiss system to the Trailing Sectors, in the Mid-systems, could be cut down significantly.

We live in exciting, dark times after all.

Aldus Kragg said:
"...The Mahporeem Imperial Navy keeps a vigilant watch on the Five Veils Route. The Admiralty is deeply curious to see how the N&Z Tarsai Vigil intends to secure our shared interests against the barbarism creeping beyond the Blackwall. Some of my fellow officers should be arriving shortly. We greatly look forward to your briefing."

"I have a recorded message from the Warden Primus herself," Rue responded as Kragg finished his introduction. "I think you will like what she has to say. Excuse me I think more people are coming to talk with me..."

In the three-year second Imperial occupation of the Tion Hegemony, and the Ash Worlds, a civilian branch of the Imperial Confederation had been established in New Aldera. Founded by the brilliant Karl Von Strauss Karl Von Strauss , former Exarch of the Commission for the Establishment of Civilian Interests, the COMECI had provided oversight to the Imperial Corrections Directorate which had been led by an enigmatic woman, with no name, rank or known origin save for the singular title of Warden Primus.

It would appear that the elusive Her Her had new ideas for what was left of the surviving Imperial Remnant.

Captain Charles said:
"Speaking of fellow officers... Captain Charles, commander of First Scouting Squadron of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy. This is my wife Hannah... Former Ambassador of Castillon. You may have seen her friend the current Ambassador around High Command."

"Of course I have," Rue lied to Charles as he introduced his wife, Hannah Charles. Quietly she hadn't heard of Castillon, or knew who was in the High Command, which Rue guessed was some type of leadership (probably military by the way it sounded) of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant. Only a handful of attendees had entered the office space to hear about Tarsai Vigil's proposal and yet Rue already felt overwhelmed. Rue wondered to herself how her master could know so much and so many people or how she could remember any of it...

Hannah Charles said:
"Mistress Rue... Thank you for the invitation. My husband and I are honored to be here."

"Oh, it's great to have you here," Rue said to Hannah, beaming happily, as the Captain's wife also introduced themselves.

R'ayne Asara said:
"How generous... Though I have learned that what one leaves at the door is rarely what is returned."

Turning to Asara, Rue did her best not to look confused, and instead continued to smile as happily as she could manage. You see, even though they weren't outside, in that awful stench which reminded you that you were in Corrox (despite the alien setting of Vūm's office space), it does tend to stick to your clothes and skin. She could quietly smell it in the air now (they all could) and it made Rue unwittingly wrinkle her nose in disgust.

Thankfully, the nearby air scrubbers would get rid of it soon.

"Oh, we'll give it back. Promise," Rue tried to grin at Asara as she took a refreshment from a passing droid. That damn smell.

Nolle Tron said:
"Nolle Tron... Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Point Ventures..."

Another CEO, and from another company, only this time Rue had heard of them. She quietly tried to remember her lessons. It wasn't about who you didn't know but rather how you got to know them.

Nolle Tron said:
"...Thank you for extending the invitation. I've followed developments surrounding the Five Veils Route for some time now. Political borders have a habit of changing faster than commerce. Trade, however... always finds the most efficient path."

"I'll take your word for it!" Rue said Tron with a playful grin.

Nolle Tron said:
"...My associates and I are here to learn where private investment can reinforce that path. Zenith prefers building infrastructure that remains valuable regardless of whose flag happens to be flying overhead."

"Vūm would like to help you look for this," Rue explained to Nolle after she finished talking.

The blonde didn't continue to elaborate on how the hedge fund could help Z.P.V discover or find these opportunities along the Five Veils Route.

Although Rue hadn't been doing this for that long she had been taught, among many other things, that when it came to the Near-Duros it was better to keep your answers short and concise. In this way it would make them more forthcoming with what they wanted or what they didn't want. A useful negotiation tactic taught by the same enigmatic woman who, despite not being here in person, was undoubtedly the needle-mover behind the summit in play.

Of course, it was difficult to differentiate between someone who was a Duros from these near species that looked similar and yet were distinctively different from those who came from Duro. However, unlike Captain Charles and his wife Hannah, Rue had heard about Nolle Tron before. It came from a different life, before she had been called Rue by her master, when a Liann kid out from Melfort grew up watching Tron appear on network channels and holoboards whenever she visited Lianna City.

Z.P.V's CEO wasn't galactic famous but she was certainly infamous in Imperial circles. Consequences of their time in COMECI, Rue guessed.

"I am expecting a few more attendees to arrive in a little bit," Rue explained to the room. "In the meantime I am more than happy to try and answer any of your questions before we start. I should explain that once the summit has begun we will be closing doors and a Cone of Silence will be turned on. When it is active the device will prevent incoming or outgoing transmissions. I am told this is a standard security protocol as Vūm would like to keep the details of this summit, er, discreet? I think that's the word..."

A Pinnacle-Class Luxury Star Yacht slowly made its way to one of the docks, its landing gear hissing and letting out a mixture of mechnical and hydraulical sounds as the large vessel stabilized itself on the platform.

The mighty N&Z Umbrella Corporation was hardly fazed by the assumed setback this tragic end of a major faction would have most likely wrought upon the massive conglomorate's bottom line. Yet, with the confederation's end, the many smaller factions rising in its wake had brought new opportunities, new markets and more desperate clients who wished for more quality, higher efficiency and less compromise compared to larger players on the field of business and war. A sign to the resillience of the company was not only the recent take over of a player within the High Republic's territory, but also the fact that it still had the manpower, the money and the materials to remain extremely relevant and noteworthy on a galactic scale.

To show off this strength, the company used to bring about massive cruisers or other sorts of capital ships to intimidate its opposing business rivals, but this time, they seemed to take a more subtle...or perhaps more correctly: a more visually pleasing approach, in the form of the aforementioned ship and perhaps also in the form of the attire worn by the two people who calmly exited the craft, draped in elegant finery and fabric of the utmost quality bearing the halmark design of tailors who had experience working with the people from the highest echelons of society.

As they descended to the meeting place, the two elegantly dressed representatives of the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation casually linked their arms, showing themselves to be strangely amicable, despite having an irreproachable air of dominance around themselves. They seemed to pass almost everyone who was present, the man calmly nodding to one side, as the woman nodded to the other side, each making sure to make a proper observation of who was who in this gathering, but inevitably, both their pairs of eyes landed upon Rue Rue . "Milord, I believe we should start by greeting Her, do you not agree?"

The man's eyes burned brightly with their golden and red hues, vibrantly surrounding a slit pupil which clearly denoted the man's unnatural, inhuman nature. "Perhaps we should, it stands to reason that we'd have a chat with the lovely host first..."

An Untold Awakening

The word drifted after me through the murmuring tides of the convention hall.

("Promise.")

At the sound, I let out a small chuckle, low and quiet, like an assassin's blade being drawn halfway from its sheath. The bubbling girl remained somewhere behind me, swallowed by the shifting congregation of merchants, wanderers, and predators disguised as civilized beings.

Promises were curious things.

In my experience, they were fragile monuments erected atop inevitable betrayal.

Whether hers would endure beyond the next turning of fate remained to be seen, and I quietly consigned judgment to a later hour.

With my frosted drink clasped in one gloved hand, its chill biting pleasantly against my skin, I continued my slow circuit through the gathering. I drifted among them like a phantom beneath dark waters, taking occasional sips while studying the souls around me.

Through the Force, they appeared less as people and more as wounds in reality; some bright with ambition, others hollowed by greed, fear, lust, or desperation. The convention itself resembled a vast carrion bloom beneath a dead star, each attendee another insect drawn to its scent.

A short, slightly overweight businessman eventually caught my attention by waving me toward him with surprising confidence.

I altered my course and approached, the hem of my dark garments whispering across the floor. When I stopped before him, he offered a practiced smile and a courteous nod.

"My name is Baron Anton Servey," he said. "A proprietor of enterprises that are both profitable and discreet."

One eyebrow rose beneath my hood.
"And why are you telling me this, a mere stranger?" I asked coolly. "I have zero interest in learning your history, your present circumstances, or even your future plans."

The man merely reached into his coat and withdrew a cigarra. He lit it with unhurried precision, the ember flaring briefly like a flaming eye in the gloom.

A curl of smoke escaped his lips as he regarded me.

"Stranger for now," he replied. "But does the name Ryi Voltek mean anything to you?"

His smile widened.

For a moment, the convention hall seemed to dim around us, then slowly, my own smile emerged beneath the shadow of my hood.

While the conversation with Captain Charles and Hannah flowed with the practiced ease of shared service, Aldus kept his attention split across the room, analyzing the subtle details of their arrival. He noticed the lingering tension in Hannah's posture as she leaned into her husband's arm, a natural reaction to the choking atmospheric layer they had just navigated outside. Charles carried himself with the flat, unpolished gravity of a military commander, a stark contrast to the slick, corporate presentations preparing to unfold around them. Aldus offered a measured, reassuring nod to the couple, speaking in a low tone about localized shipyard logistics to keep their presence anchored while the remaining attendees filtered through the security gates.

As corporate titans like Nolle Tron and the high-ranking representatives of the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation filled the room, Kragg watched passively, making mental notes about his observations of how they all comported themselves upon entering. Tron's arrival brought the unmistakable air of off-world liquid capital, her analytical gaze sweeping the market displays with the cold precision of an investor looking for leverage points. Moments later, the entry of the elegant N&Z executives draped in elite finery subtly altered the gravity of the floor. They moved past the assembling dignitaries with an irreproachable air of dominance, signaling that the megacorporation viewed this summit as entirely their territory to dictate.

With the entrance of yet another into the room, he felt the atmosphere shift dramatically. Aldus's focus was immediately drawn away from the corporate posturing towards a far more dangerous variable circling the perimeter. Darth Sycophantia moved through the gathering like a phantom beneath dark waters, her shadowed hood masking blood-hued eyes. To the civilian executives, she may have come across as an erratic, theatrical threat to be avoided; to Aldus, she was a living monument to ancient history and military supremacy. He knew of her record intimately from the Navy's tactical logs. She was a weapon of the Empire who had bled alongside Mahporeem's banners during the brutal campaigns on Ruisto and executed the merciless operational mandates of Operation Ashbreaker. He could almost "feel" an aura of strength and unyielding will, to which his highborn intuitions knew demanded that he show respect.

As the unavoidable wave of hyper-interest bloomed suddenly at the base of his skull, he began to sense an unexplainable clarity to his vision as his eyes tracked her movements. He didn't understand the sudden biological warning system spiking his adrenaline, but her quiet, supreme self-possession stood out starkly against the erratic chatter of the room. He simply "knew" she was an exceptional element in a room full of merchants—a battle-tested veteran whose historical weight could not be ignored.

Turning back to the couple at his side, Aldus offered a polite, smooth smile. "If you will excuse me for a brief moment, Captain, Hannah. I believe I will secure a refreshment."

With a perfectly executed nod of courtesy, Aldus stepped away from the group. His silent, measured steps carried him smoothly through the murmuring crowd of merchants and executives, his posture rigid and unbothered as he adjusted the high collar of his uniform. Intercepting a passing service droid near the perimeter of the presentation floor, his gloved hand reached out smoothly to pluck a cold drinks from the tray it was carrying. Holding the glass with effortless aristocratic poise, he bypassed the main corporate circles entirely, navigating a direct path toward the hooded woman's perimeter. Stopping a respectful distance away, his eyes locked onto the crimson gaze hidden beneath her hood, and he delivered a calm, precisely calculated nod of formal military protocol.

Since the turn-of-the-ninth-century. a Sith Lord has been working alongside and within the traces of Imperial power in the Outer Rim Territories. Now there were two. Their presence among those who courted the last elements of the Empire, who still espouse the political ideology and state religion of the New Order (merely coined and termed as 'Imperialism' in the modern day) were unaware of the Sith duplicity amid their ranks. One man, however, did get close to discovering them in the near past.

The closest that someone had ever gotten to discovering the existence of the Rule of Two, and how these Sith were using what was left of the Empire to pursue their own aims, had come in the form of Karl Von Strauss Karl Von Strauss 's investigation into the seditious, terrorist cell formerly known as the Fifth Wing. A single name had been dredged up from old IRS chatrooms that the cell had used during the Sartinaynian Crisis three years ago. But whoever Laetor was remained a mystery to the former Exarch to this day. They could have been the Sith, or it could have been a cunning Imperial traitor seeking to dismantle the Empire of the Lost for reasons yet to be discovered. It remained clouded. Someone had obfuscated the truth.

Perhaps it would never come out. They had certainly endeavoured to continue obfuscating what was true, and what was not. There were signs. Esotericism was a device which they used to confer messages if you knew where and how to look for them.

Umbrella were a different kettle of fish, unfortunately.

As Kragg and Asara branched off to look around, Rue's eyes followed Visconti and the other man beside her as they entered the summit. Whenever Her spoke about Umbrella it had always been from the context and perspective of some type of business arrangement, politics or economics. There was no warning about Visconti, L.O.H or any trade secrets about Umbrella and what they knew or didn't know which had yet to be conferred to the young apprentice who stood now in their midst. Rue was quietly clueless to how the N&Z fitted into the conspiracy that her master had instigated in the Outer Rim and Mid-systems against the Sith Order. Yet, her training taught Rue to be discreet. Quiet. To never make assumptions. She quietly guessed that Rue would have to be cautious around Umbrella's delegates less she expose herself and her master's work.

Around them the summit was a haze of small, quiet conversation mixed with a sensation of awkwardness, or at least it was for Rue. She wished it was Her here playing hostess and not herself. It had only been a few, short months since her Sith Master had revealed herself to the young Liann. The lessons, combined with the promises of power and revenge, had been alluring to a sixteen year old reeling from what the Mandalorian Empire and Sith Order had done to Lianna. But it had been quite sometime since she had spoken to that certain, enigmatic woman. Rue had received instructions that were to be carried out. They were elements to a plan which Rue did not comprehend the full picture of yet. To compound this Her had disappeared afterwards to leave Rue to her own devices. It was akin to learning how to swim, and Rue felt in the deep end paddling water in the company of Umbrella, Zenith and Du'thra Engineering's CEOs. Even the military brass from Mahporeem felt intimidating.

"Excuse me," Rue explained to Captain Charles, his wife Hannah, and Du'thra as she took the moment to get away. Walking into the center of the room, Rue opened a compartment installed into the base of the table situated beneath the Tintolive and exposed a console engrained into the metal. Activating it, Rue programmed the table to expose a secondary, large compartment which forced the metallic, sleek surface to retract inwards where a holographic transmitter begun to rise into the air. Rue then closed the first compartment, and after checking that it was locked, she lifted her gaze to the ceiling and shouted a command: "Silence!"

Two things followed. Firstly, the conversation in the room seemed to die off immediately at the hearing of the phrase. This is what people tended to do when they are told be quiet, after all. Secondly, another device stirred into life. Situated above them, as it hung from the ceiling rafters, a Cone of Silence activated via Rue's voice command and begun to bathe the summit into an eerie white light that seemed to fail in penetrating the darkest corners of the office space or to illuminate the facial features of the amassed attendees that had come to listen to Tarsai's business plan. It gave the summit itself a dark aesthetic which would be attractive to some and off-putting to others beneath a wall of impenetrable, utter silence.

"Transmissions and communication devices will not work now," Rue explained to the summit as the strobing, eerie light passed over her. "This is a security measure to ensure that our enemy cannot spy on what is happening here. I am told that once you leave they will come back online and work like before. This will be only... Temporary."

Gesturing her palm to the holographic transmitter, Rue continued to explain: "I have brought with me a recording given to me by the Warden Primus who has sent me here to share... developments... in the Mid-systems. When we are ready I will play the message, and then afterwards, I will answer any... questions... about what she had to say."

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
CORROX, MAHPOREEM
OBJECTIVE I: TARSAI

As was his tradition, Ronhar was once again running late for his all important meeting.

He had just arrived from Doan, where he had been helping the local Imperial aligned governmental forces with COIN operations against some upstart rebels on the planet. Intelligence had indicated that they were being supplied by the Ithorian Foreign Legion or the Confederacy of Free Worlds, but the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant wasn't overly concerned with what was going on, though Ronhar had been asked to assess the situation once he arrived on the ground. Thankfully, he had determined that the overall threat to the planet's stability was relatively low, and he had left confident that the Donian government could take care of things in his absence. If not, well, the Imperial Remnant was always willing to send additional forces to put down any uprisings, and to seize more direct control of the planet as was needed. In fact, that second option would be preferable to the Imperial Remnant in some ways, giving them an excuse to get even more involved in the affairs of Doan.

But for now, all of that would remain to be seen.

Now, Ronhar had arrived home, and as he stepped off the transport shuttle, he took in a deep breath of Mahporeem's air, along with dozens of different smells and aerial pollutants. As a native of the planet, Ronhar had stopped being bothered by the planet's smell a long time ago, and if anything, the way that the planet felt to him was somehow comforting in its own messed up, twisted kind of way. The government had long given up on trying to do anything about the way the planet smelled, as all efforts to seemingly wipe the stench off the planet had been in vain. Even if Mahporeem was somehow cleared of all its trash and scrap tomorrow, the smell around it would certainly linger on. Anyone on the planet would just have to get used to it or bring a breath mask. Just another cost of Mahporeem's business, it seemed.

Regardless, life went on, and Ronhar soon found himself in Vum's corporate office where the lasting meeting was taking place. Part of the reason he had been asked to attend was to figure out Vum's true intentions, and what they wanted with the Imperial Remnant and its people. After all, they had seemingly come out of nowhere as of late, and had offered the Imperial Remnant absurd amounts of credits to do business on the planet. It was all quite suspicious, but the money was too good to pass up, and so Vum dutifully gained a place at Mahporeem's table. Whatever intentions they truly held were overlooked for Mahporeem's short term gain, as foolish as a decision as that might be.

As Ronhar entered the room, he recognized quite a few people sitting at the table in front of him: Captain Charles Captain Charles , Hannah Charles Hannah Charles , R'ayne Asara R'ayne Asara , Illithor Du'thra Illithor Du'thra , Aldus Kragg Aldus Kragg , Amalia Visconti | Mira Rhory Amalia Visconti | Mira Rhory and Nolle Tron Nolle Tron . In fact, Ronhar recognized everyone except for the presenter Rue Rue . At least Ronhar assumed she was the presenter, because for some reason, he could not hear a word that she was saying. Some kind of new technology or security measure, perhaps? As Ronhar walked passed the "cone of silence", he was suddenly able to hear again, arriving just in time for Rue Rue to remark:

"-wards, I will answer any... questions... about what she had to say."

"And who might 'she' just be?", Ronhar asked as he passed the cone of silence's threshold. "Apologies for being late, I just came back from wrapping up some business on Doan", Ronhar explained as he greeted everyone assembled at the meeting. "Captain Ronhar Tane, TK-3301 of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant."

"So...what have I missed?"

An eerie white light filled the room as the Cone of Silence activated. The room fell silent. She felt a shiver go down her spine. Something felt off. The hostess said the device killed all communications. She checked her datapad to be sure, subtly of course, she knew appearances mattered here. Sure enough the signal was gone.

They were at a table now, seated around a holographic transmitter in the middle. She had moved her chair before sitting, ensuring it connected to her husband’s chair before the two sat down together.

Rue was only sixteen, she had found that a little odd especially since she was running an entire business conference. She could tell she was nervous too, not from inexperience but from something the hostess didn’t fully understand, though what it was, could be anyone’s guess.

She gripped his arm tighter for a moment, trying to signal her unease. He gripped her hand once in return. He got it. It was a new system she had been trying out with him. She naturally held on to him so she decided that she would try to make it more than just a loving gesture. So far they only had a couple communications but it was already proving useful.

“So…what have I missed.” said a voice behind them. She turned her head slightly. It was Ronhar. Her husband had told her about him, everything was positive. The black clad stormtrooper didn’t know it, but she was very, very grateful that he had been the one to answer her husband’s distress call when he got lost in that asteroid belt. Without him, her husband and his men may have died out there and she would have never met him. She quickly shook that thought away, it was too horrid to even imagine.

Her attention returned to the hostess. She said she was going to play a recording. It was time to pay attention.

He didn’t like that he was cut off. Specifically the fact that he was cut off from his men. He knew they didn’t like it either, though both parties knew it could be a probability considering the high profile nature of the meeting.

The room had been assessed as he walked in. Friends. Potential Foes. Threat Levels. Escape Routes. All were mapped out. If he were alone, it would pretty easy as the greatest threat level was posed by R’ayne but she was a friend. The two had worked closely together on a recent raid on a pirate base and had formed a friendship. Ronhar was an even closer friend and Kragg was a fellow Mahporeem officer. All were allies if things went hot.

His wife changed the picture. If he was alone he would fight his way out, but with her here his priority would be protecting her. He had thought of all this before the meeting actually started.

Returning to the present, he felt his wife grab his arm. One time. That meant she felt uneasy. He grabbed her hand in reply to tell her he got it. He recognized Ronhar’s voice immediately and nodded a greeting. He hoped his arrival would make the meeting much lighter. Ronhar was much better suited for representing Mahporeem’s positon than he was after all.

He turned his attention back to the hostess. It was time to hear what this was all about.

Many faces were familiar ones since Du'thra Engineering had forged closer ties to the Imperial Remnant. After small talk with many gathered Illithor began wondering whether this meeting would be the opportunity to reveal the companies new cargo ship. Given the host has ties into the High Republic giving a better vantage into their business world. Unlike Aurine Werr Aurine Werr or Aleratha Tel'alith Aleratha Tel'alith who were making products in the free markets, he had specialized into the Imperial aligned markets... for good or ill.

Rue had dismissed herself and walked away to a table, one that started to transform. Well that is a neat surprise.

He leaned over at one of his assistants, a white haired young Sephi subspecies like himself and quietly said "Take notes for the main conference room back on Taris. This gives off a great aura."

A moment later she shouted,
: "Silence!"
Okay that is cool. As white filled most of the room

It was as Rue was speaking that Illithor noticed Ronhar Tane Ronhar Tane walk into the now white bathed area. He then speaks

Illithor motions for him to come over, Hopefully he gets the gist that Illithor will fill him in.
Plus, he has more business to talk after the meeting ends.
But first to hear what all of this is about.

The arrival of N&Z Umbrella's representatives drew Nolle's attention before either of them reached the young hostess. Amalia Visconti was difficult to overlook even when she was not arriving aboard a Pinnacle-class yacht dressed to remind an entire room precisely how much influence Umbrella still possessed. The mutual investments shared by N&Z and Zenith Point Ventures had produced enough meetings, reports, and private conversations that Nolle recognized more than the woman's face. She recognized the deliberate synchronization of her entrance with the man beside her, the careful projection of amicability, and the effortless certainty with which they crossed a gathering hosted in part to discuss one of Umbrella's own subsidiaries.

A faint smile touched Nolle's lips. "Amalia." Her greeting carried familiarity without sacrificing the decorum of the occasion. She inclined her head toward Visconti before extending the same graceful courtesy to the gentleman accompanying her. "It is good to see N&Z has chosen to represent itself personally. I was beginning to wonder whether Zenith would be left explaining your own investment to everyone."

There was enough amusement in her tone to make the remark friendly rather than accusatory. N&Z had always preferred to project strength openly. Zenith Point Ventures preferred to quietly own pieces of whatever happened after the display ended. "We should speak once we've heard the proposal. I suspect there may be more overlap in our interests than either of our analysts anticipated."

As her eyes swept the gathering once more, they settled briefly upon Illithor Du'thra. They had never conducted business directly, but Du'thra Engineering's growing reputation within Imperial markets had not escaped Zenith's analysts. His company represented exactly the sort of industrial concern Zenith often evaluated for partnership—or acquisition—depending upon circumstance.

"Master Du'thra." She offered the Sephi executive a courteous inclination of her head. "I've been hearing your company's name with increasing frequency. It seems congratulations are in order." The compliment was genuine enough while remaining deliberately noncommittal. Success deserved recognition. Whether it ultimately became partnership, investment, or competition was a determination for another day.

Her attention returned to Rue. The young hostess remained an unusual choice. Her clipped responses to Nolle had been cordial but unrevealing, perhaps intentionally so. Yet beneath the rehearsed professionalism Nolle detected uncertainty—not the uncertainty of deception, but of responsibility. Rue seemed to be navigating instructions handed down by someone who had entrusted her with execution, not understanding. Nolle knew the type of person who operated that way.

When the title Warden Primus was spoken, the pleasant expression she wore did not change. Internally, however, the entire meeting rearranged itself. Before Zenith Point Ventures... before acquisitions, shareholders, and boardrooms... there had been COMECI.

Nolle remembered the Commission's endless committees and immaculate bureaucracy. She remembered civilians convincing themselves they exercised control over the Imperial machine while rarely appreciating just how vast that machine truly was. She remembered the Imperial Corrections Directorate. And she remembered the woman who led it.

The Warden Primus had never needed to raise her voice to command a room. She viewed institutions the way master engineers viewed machinery: assemblies of moving parts to be understood, improved, and—when necessary—replaced. Cooperation with her had always come wrapped in omissions. Compliance was rewarded only so long as it remained useful, and trust was a quality she cultivated in others far more readily than she practiced herself. Former Warden Primus, Nolle reminded herself. The distinction offered remarkably little comfort.

"Silence." The command echoed through the office. As the Cone of Silence bathed the room in pale light, one of Nolle's associates instinctively glanced toward his datapad as every external connection disappeared. Without looking at him, Nolle raised two fingers ever so slightly. The movement was enough. No one spoke.

Their security protocols would already be accounting for communications interruptions. Her people outside the field would follow established contingency procedures if contact was not restored within the expected window. There was no value in displaying concern before anyone else. Even so...She did not appreciate having her choices narrowed without warning. It reminded her entirely too much of COMECI.

As the room settled beneath the unnatural quiet, Captain Ronhar Tane entered through the threshold. Another familiar face from Mahporeem. Before Nolle could acknowledge him, she noticed Illithor subtly motioning the newly arrived officer toward the Du'thra delegation, evidently intending to brief him on what he had missed.

A faint smile crossed her features. Sensible. There was little value in having every executive in the room repeat the same explanation. She instead offered Captain Tane a polite nod of recognition across the gathering before turning back toward the center of the room.

Nolle selected a chair offering an unobstructed view of Rue, the holographic transmitter, and Amalia alike. She smoothed the charcoal folds of her gown before crossing one leg over the other with practiced elegance. Around her, Zenith's associates quietly took their own seats, datapads temporarily rendered useless but memories and observation remaining invaluable.

As conversation dwindled, she spoke—not loudly, but clearly enough for those nearby to hear. "Some of you may know the Warden Primus only by reputation." Her voice remained measured. "I knew her professionally." A brief pause. "Before taking over Zenith Point Ventures, I served within COMECI."

Several eyes shifted in her direction. "The Warden Primus was exceptionally intelligent. Exceptionally patient. And exceptionally adept at ensuring every room contained only the information she intended it to." She regarded the dormant holographic transmitter rather than Rue herself. "If she has arranged this summit, I have little doubt the opportunity being presented is genuine." Another pause. "I am considerably less certain that we are being shown the entire board." The faintest smile returned to her lips. "Which is precisely why I intend to listen very carefully." With that, Nolle settled back into her chair, crimson eyes fixed upon the projector, waiting for the recording to begin.

A hologram sprung to life on the table.

"The Imperial Confederation is dead," stated the Warden Primus coldly. The holographic image was stable beneath the eerie lights of the Cone exposing a figure that was hooded and their face obscured by the veil of their robe. Yet, it carried a sinister feeling that only this enigmatic woman could inspire even in the most cold-hearted of Imperials, and by nights end, so too would her words inspire a mixture of dread and the seeds of opportunity that only Her possessed. A ghost from the COMECI revealed itself once again to the Imperials, and with her appearance, Her would have them take what she had come to offer.

"Our enemies from the Thandon Star Cluster have ransacked and destroyed Emperor Kilran's former seat on Lianna," Her continued to say as she spoke of the late Emperor to the ill-fated fallen Empire of the Lost: the predecessors to the one-time nascent Imperial Confederation. "Lianna City lays in ruin. Like Tion before her. Our occupation of the Outer Rim Territories has come to an end. The Sith Order have eclipsed all rivals to become the dominant superpower of these Outer systems with their Empire veiled and obfuscated behind the anomaly they call the Black Wall. The Iron Sun is destined to set in the shadow if the last stalwarts of the Empire do nothing to prevent the inevitable."

Her's words hung in the air as the people around the table considered her words. Would Mahporeem become the next Lianna?

Or would they be destroyed like Tion?

"History will remember that the Imperial Confederation met it's demise following it's defeat at the Battle of Brosi,"
Her continued to say through the transmission as the recording continued to play. "However, they will not know that it was following our first defeat, before our second invasion of Thandon, that I conspired to create a contingency in the event that the Imperial Confederation followed in the footsteps of the Empire of the Lost. Through corporate espionage, and politicking, I have set-up roots in the Mid-systems, in the Trailing Sectors, on planet Enarc in the Alui Sector."

As Her's transmission continued to play, nearby at the table, Rue programmed the holographic transmitter to bring up a map of the Mid Rim Territories, specifically, in the region where Enarc could be found. It was a planet located in the High Republic: a democratically formed government comprising of hundreds of other star systems and which sits along the borders of the Sith Empire, the Mandalorian Empire, and the Sith Covenant.

"Through the Five Veils Revitalization Project I arranged to the formation of a security subsidiary of the Cortessan Finance Group," Her said.

"Called the Tarsai Vigil, I acquired leased rights to begin exercising security patrols and sweeps of the Five Veils Route: a hyperlane which runs through the Mid-systems of the High Republic. Taxation of the route through tariffs and tolls, alongside the ability to stop, search and detain vessels utilizing the route, on the suspicion of illegal activity, has served me as a legitimate and legal albeit privately owned operation that is now under the ownership of the Nargath and Zanareth Umbrella Corporation."

Umbrella's logo flashed into view along the Five Veils Route as Rue highlighted the hyperlane as it passed through the purple bloc signifying the High Republic and it's territories. It was a well built, manufactured trojan horse to the keen and cunning eye. A means to set-up Imperial power back in the Mid-systems for the first time in decades.

"A new form of politics is set to enter the High Republic," Her explained. "I have arranged for this summit to be called on Mahporeem in order to convince you to join me on Enarc. Through the finances and technology offered by Umbrella, combined with the legitimate enterprise we have acquired, I endeavour to create a connection between the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant to the Trailing Sectors via the creation of new work, opportunities, and naturalized citizenship for all Imperial expats who would immigrate with me in the Mid-systems."

It was a bold plan that only someone like the Warden Primus would come up with. But the High Republic, with it's own brand of politics, ideologies and views, were an anathema to the beliefs espoused by those who still called themselves Imperial. Did this woman truly expect what was left of the Imperial Confederation to abandon their posts, and leave the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant behind for pastures new in a place that was antithetical to the ideas and themes of the Empire?

"If all has gone to plan then this message has been carried to Mahporeem by my apprentice," said Her cryptically. "With them I have left instructions on how we can accomplish the revitalization of our strength and power in a house that is not currently ours, and yet can still become ours."

As the transmission drew to it's end, Her leaned forward in the transmission and exposed the silhouette of their mouth.

"Remember this: the Empire Always Strikes Back."

In a flash the transmission ended. A soft, mechanical whirr filled the summit as the holographic transmitter begun to retract back into the base of the table. A familiar ghost, from the recent past, had come back with revelations, and in their midst, Her left them Rue: a messenger found in the peculiar, odd disguise of a child who had come to play hostess on the behalf of Vūm.

Like seasoned members of high society, the pair of representatives of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation split up, with Amalia first calmly looking around herself, attempting to put names to faces, allowing each and every person's presence to sink into her memory. From captains of industry to military men and women, she was keen to make sure she could remember each and every one of them should there ever be a need for such a piece of information in a crucial moment. As a person mentored, raised and eventually elevated into high station by those who saw the galaxy in a way far different than others, she too had managed to gain a different insight, a different look on reality and the pawns therein.

Each and every person gathered around the presenter, flocking to the table at the venue with plush seats to accommodate enough people for the one who set this up to show the desire to gain as many people on board as possible. A smirk appeared on her otherwise neutral face when she looked at Rue Rue for a moment, wondering where she fit into all of it. She wasn't someone she had on her records, yet she was being the defacto host of this get together of the wealthy and the meaningful. Amalia wondered if this one was a pawn in the same game she'd been a pawn in from the moment she had taken breath on Ilum all those years ago.

Still, even as she murmured about this, the sudden cone of silence cutting off the table and those who had taken their seats from the outside in order to...reveal none other than the Warden Primus, someone who held a high position within the Imperial Confederation and who Amalia, much unlike the others around, knew as Her Her . It was rather funny how she could see the others having an nigh undivided attention to the holographic presentation, while Amalia seemed to be much more invested in figuring out who this Rue was.

What was the connection? How was she thrust in this position as host? What was her connection to the so-called Warden Primus...AKA her own master's associate?

While she attempted to try and see some sort of glimpse in which this unknown variable might possibly slip up, the CEO of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation halfheartedly maintained a bit of her attention to the Holographic recording being displayed. It was then that she heard something near the end of the holographic message which gave Amalia a frown prior to her face straightening out into her usual emotionless, neutral self. To become aware that this Rue was called upon as the apprentice to the Warden Primus effectively meant that she had placed someone within or at the very least in an orbiting position around the N&Z's own sphere of influence and upper echelons. It wasn't something unexpected with Her Her gaining the probationary rank of Director, but nonetheless it implied the sly associate was beginning to play her game properly.

"So...do explain how this is in any possible way going to be beneficial to any of us?" Amalia tilted her head slightly to the side and smirked ever so slightly. "Do you want us to begin with setting up migration opportunities, bringing in capital for covertly imperial groups within the High Republic or...what?"

It wasn't a lie that the N&Z had always favored imperials over those who called themselves allegiant to the voice of democracy, as the N&Z had always understood and found out that any and all republics and other highly bureaucratic democracies had favored the austere and downright dogmatic jedi as their enforcers, people who by admission of the N&Z itself were not only just as bad as the Sith ideologically, but also not corporately viable or interesting as businesspartners unlike the aforementioned Sith.

"The N&Z is more than willing to support any efforts to increase corporate imperial presence within the High Republic...." Raising her left hand and stretching out her index finger, Amalia attempted to draw in the attention properly. "As your master and thus you yourself are already utilizing N&Z funding as the baseline for these operations, I want to make it abundantly clear that we do not sanction, approve, let alone finance any wild ideologue attempts at openly destabilizing the High Republic. Form businesses, create opportunities for your fellow Imperials, THOSE things we support, but any and all actions and plans which damage our reputation outright by association... will not be tolerated..."

Slamming her hand on the table with a fierce expression on her face, Amalia made clear her next words were delivered without nuance and without any duplicitous meaning. Her eyes turning towards Rue Rue to further emphasize the meaning of those words escaping her lips.

"They will be squashed and snuffed out, inluding all those who attempt to entertain such actions to begin with."

An Untold Awakening

I left the good Baron with a promise that our paths would cross again, though whether he understood the weight of that promise was another matter entirely.

I crossed the chamber and took an empty seat at the table, settling among a gathering of familiar faces and strangers whose names had yet to acquire meaning.

I said nothing. I merely listened.

Voices rose and fell around me like instruments in some strange, unfinished symphony, each argument, proposal, ambition, and revelation finding its place within the vast machinery of my thoughts.

My mind absorbed everything.

I studied their words, their hesitations, the things they said and those they carefully avoided saying. Questions drifted through my consciousness like black moths beneath a moonless sky, innumerable and persistent, yet I kept them imprisoned behind my lips.

The picture before me was only partially painted, scattered strokes upon an otherwise empty canvas; but I could feel the shape of the masterpiece lurking beneath it.

And somewhere within that unfinished work lay the fruits of success, upheaval, and change.

For a moment, my thoughts wandered backward, toward the first Sith I had encountered after my return at some fancy ballroom; a celebration to honor an ego.

I could still remember that snot-nosed girl, brimming with the arrogance of youth and the certainty of indoctrination, believing she could sway me into accepting that this Sith Order was the future.

How wonderfully naive she had been. I almost pitied her.

Almost.

The Sith I once knew and these Sith now forever carry a certainty carved deeper than any creed, they are champions of repeated history. They resurrect the same ambitions, the same rivalries, the same betrayals, and called each cycle rebirth.

No, this gathering was something else. These thinkers, these schemers, these relentless go-getters seated around this table were not worshipping the ghosts of what had already been.

They were contemplating what had yet to exist.

I remained silent, allowing the others to speak while the darkness within my mind quietly assembled their fragments into something greater. The future was not wearing the mask of the past.

It was being forged here, in this room, by those willing to imagine beyond it.
