"Corrox is the capital city of Mahporeem. Formerly an Imperial Command Center, Corrox quickly took on a new role of importance after the fall of Palpatine's Galactic Empire (and the failure of OPERATION: CINDER) later becoming the seat of power for the ruling planetary triumvirate."
-- A description of Mahporeem's capital city: " Corrox " .

SYPNOSIS:
The Imperial Confederation is no-more.

Only the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant survives as the last remaining stronghold of the late Imperial regime following the end of it's second occupation of the Tion Hegemony and Ash Worlds.

Imperial power has fallen. Law, justice and order have been replaced by chaos.

Only the Sith Order now remain as the dominant power in the Outer Rim Territories with their indomitable SITH EMPIRE. Evil is spreading everywhere.

On the furthest edges of the known galaxy, on the threshold before one could cross into the Unknown Regions, a peculiar organisation serves as host following the acquisition of a new security subsidiary (found several hundred lightyears away) in the Mid-systems. Entrepreneurs and corporate delegates converge in the city of Corrox to hear about new opportunities along the Five Veils Route following the dissolution of Imperial power while Sith influence and barbarism converge to fill the vacuum left behind following the rise of the LEAGUE OF IMPERIAL REJUVENATION!

Vūm, the peculiar and discreet hedge fund from Enarc, seek to debrief attendees regarding the plans of the newly acquired N&Z Tarsai Vigil: a security subsidiary recently purchased by the intergalactic megacorporation colloquially known by most as UMBRELLA. Far away from the bureaucratic interference of the High Republic Senate and their decadent Jedi Order, Tarsai looks to open the floodgates for corporate expansionism and rejuvenation in the Mid-systems while the Sith fist reaches out to squeeze those who live on the other side of " THE BLACKWALL " . . .

" TARSAI "
A story told on Mahporeem.

~

It's the smell, you see. Even as you are coming down from the heavens, to make landing in Corrox, you can begin to taste it in the back of your throat. That awful stench which seems to be a blend, mixture and amalgamation of rubbish that seems to have built up over the course of a millennia. The locals like to call it scrap but this is their way of only trying to be polite. Mahporieem's might have gotten used to it, but for those off-worlders, who find themselves on the edges of the known galaxy, they know what's up. It's something that stays with you after you leave whence Mahporeem's bad reputation even during the heights of the Imperial Confederation. There were often jokes told among the brass about this backwatered junkyard.

None of them are laughing anymore after Brosi, are they?

Nevertheless, the smell can become so potent and wrong that it's enough to make your eyes water. No amount of fabric or coverings can keep it at bay save for, perhaps, a well designed mask; and if you've ever taken the time to see the planets surface from the vantage point of a good cockpit or observation deck, then you will see why the Mahporieem are often seen without something to cover the face. Despite the poverty, and abject dystopia, home does become home eventually, you know? Rue opted for the aquata when she was outside. She couldn't be too sure if the infamous stench was potent and noxious or not but she wasn't going to take the chance. The keen eye would recognise the Jedi tech. Another mystery to add onto the layers concerning the business surrounding the peculiar host found in Corrox.

Vūm, they were called.

Discreet, alien and enigmatic as one could call themselves. They tended to like it that way. Names often remained elusive with these people.

After the hedge fund acquired it's office spaces in Corrox City, they had had a Tintolive tree imported, and since looked after, to be situated in the centre of the room amid consoles monitoring local news and weather reports; long distance networks which were not yet affected by the phenomena surrounding Sith space; and analytics describing stocks among a half-dozen star systems, peculiarly and geographically matched, to sectors that were among those who had joined the High Republic. A particularly long spanning hyperlane (which was called the Five Veils Route) had been highlighted by somebody on one of the monitors. Next to that one were live broadcasts of a race happening somewhere. Pod Racing was the defacto number one sport watched and beloved by the locals. Rue tended to ignore that one. As they say in Theed, " That isn't my cup of tea. " Nabooians, pah.

Sometimes it's hard to tell when someone is a kid, particularly nowadays, when they all seem to be so eager to grow up so fast. But the experienced eye can tell the difference. It's the way they stand, talk and that certain look that they can give you. You know the one. Suffice to say, when the attendees to this summit arrived and took their places, a kid barely older than sixteen playing as hostess would one of many oddities concerning this business. Vūm were small, tiny, barely heard about, and yet it seemed to be in set in stone that they were going to get a little known reputation for being a bit odd.

But, then again, they weren't the stars on show today. This was all about Umbrella and Tarsai. You see, three years ago a project in the defunct Royal Naboo Republic paved the way for the rejuvenation of a certain hyperlane in the Mid-systems, and according to an analysis run by Vūm, given developments happening out here in the Outer Rim, and their extensive contacts in the burgeoning High Republic, now was the best time to take. Yeah, the idea of business and corporate interests being interfered by goodie-do-gooders like the Jedi, or those politicians in Theed, sounded off-putting.

But, then again, there was a difference in trading your freedom and life in order to protect yourself by comparison. Things are looking stark out here. It would be best to avoid the fist that wants to hit you and move ontoto pastures new to deal with certain annoyances instead-- a certain logic that would be the theme of this presentation.

"Hi! I am so excited to see so many people came to Corrox City," Rue exclaimed pleasantly as attendees filtered in. She was standing beneath a Tintolivee branch with their arms folded and aquata in hand. "I know it smells bad outside, but in here, you can breathe easily. Feel free to take your equipment off. We will give it back to ya after it's all over!"

Illithor arrived back to Mahporeem once again, then again he was traveling here a lot for business which was good. But the planet always... Always made him miss the Tarisian Republic even more. The stark contrast of restored ecosystems & a massive sea vs decidedly not. The handful of Sephi subspecies aids like himself walked with data pads in had. Their security of two B2-SH4V6's and six B1-3AR2 moved off to the designated area for security to wait. One may think it overkill, but Mahporeem Imperial Remnant still had disgruntled people that are prone to acts of violence or kidnapping.

His small group walked into the venue to see a Tintolivee tree with a woman stand below its branches.

Illithor mused I see they have lots of money it seems. As he headed to a good vantage point to see the speaker he walked close enough by "Hello, I am Illithor Du'thra. CEO of Du'thra Engineering, Headquartered out of the Tarisian Republic. Thank you for allowing me to attend." Giving a slight bow, before getting to his destination.

To the corporate delegates and off-world entrepreneurs filtering into the newly established offices in Corrox City, the capital of Mahporeem was an abject, industrial nightmare. The choking, heavy stench of a millennium's worth of accumulated ship-breaking scrap and refined slag hung thick in the air outside, causing the visiting executives and dignitaries to hide nervously behind specialized filters and fabric coverings.

As a native-born son of Mahporeem, Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg did not need a mask.

It had been quite some time since he had last been on-world, and he had arranged to visit with his family while he was in town. Beyond the simple pleasure of sleeping in a proper bed for a change, he also did not hesitate to requisition one of the Kragg family drivers to deliver him to his meeting in style. Stepping out from the rear passenger cabin of a sleek, high-end Kragg Orbital Yards luxury transport, Aldus inhaled the familiar, metallic air of his home world with unbothered poise. He wore the midnight-charcoal dress uniform of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy, tailored flawlessly to his rigid frame and completely devoid of the grease that stained the lower-tier system militias. The colorful bars of his commendation ribbons were pinned cleanly over his chest on the breast panel opposite his rank bars. At his hip, resting securely in its polished leather holster, Kragg wore his ornate officer's sidearm that had been presented to him by his father upon his promotion to Lt. Commander, a fitting upgrade over the standard naval-issue hardware provided to many of his colleagues. He had politely refused to hand it over to the Security Droids. On a gloved hand, the polished gold signet of House Kragg caught the pale light of Corrox's sun, serving as a quiet visual reminder to anyone watching that while the Imperial Confederation had fractured, local aristocratic power was very much alive and well.

As a mid-level ship commander, Aldus sized up the rapid expansion of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation and the newly established Tarsai Vigil with a cold, professional eye. As a naval officer and veteran pilot, he was intimately familiar with N&Z technologies, having had several opportunities to work with their tech and lengthy experience pushing their fusion reactor grids and cyber warfare suites to their operational limits in the frontiers. Unbeknownst to his host and his naval superiors, Kragg's presence here was a dual directive. Officially, he was evaluating a vital corporate supplier for the Remnant military. Privately, his noble House required an exact calculation of what this new hedge fund, Vūm, intended to siphon from the sector.

Walking past the security detail of B1 and B2 droids, Aldus stepped into the venue and paused momentarily to offer a polite, measured nod of acknowledgment to the other delegate who had already arrived—the Sephi executive. "Master Du'thra," he greeted smoothly, his voice carrying the effortless poise of a fellow patrician who recognized the weight of corporate enterprise in the sector.

Aldus then proceeded into the main presentation area. The transition across the threshold brought a bizarre, sudden wave of hyper-focus that bloomed sharply at the base of his skull. His eyes instantly locked onto the imported Tintolive tree in the center of the chamber, and then down to the sixteen-year-old hostess, Rue, standing beneath its branches.

There was a strange, unexplainable clarity in the room. He could instantly read the faint, nervous anticipation radiating off the young corporate hostess, and the subtle, lingering scent of Nabooian tech hidden within her aquata filter. Aldus didn't attribute the sudden flash of supernatural insight to anything beyond his own intuition. He did not allow the unexplained feeling to impact his affectation, he merely adjusted the high collar of his uniform, and with almost silent steps moved into a commanding vantage point near the terminal grids.

"A gracious welcome, Mistress Rue. I am Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg. I hope you had a pleasant journey to my hometown," he spoke, introducing himself clearly as his voice carried the calm, smooth drawl of an elite Core-world aristocrat. He offered a brief, perfectly executed nod of protocol to the young hostess, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in the long-distance networks flashing across the surrounding monitors. "The Mahporeem Imperial Navy keeps a vigilant watch on the Five Veils Route. The Admiralty is deeply curious to see how the N&Z Tarsai Vigil intends to secure our shared interests against the barbarism creeping beyond the Blackwall. Some of my fellow officers should be arriving shortly. We greatly look forward to your briefing."

Charles | Corrox City | N&Z - Tarsai Vigil Building:
Charles and his wife arrived via shuttle. He was familiar with the air of the city having been here many times to conduct repairs or report to High Command, the choking scent of scrap and grime that would have forced any newcomer to put on a mask. He had no purpose-built mask for civilian use, only his military grade respirator. Something his wife had refused to put on, saying it was too bulky. She quickly changed her mind when they stepped off the shuttle, taking it off only when they were safely inside the building.

“If people have to live with this air. We Castillonians are very lucky.” she commented, wheezing slightly as she took off the rebreather.

“Agreed,” he replied, wondering if the Mahporeem government had any plans to deal with the pollution. Oh well, it wasn’t important now.

They made their way through the security droids, his wife on his arm like always. She was sticking closer than usual. Probably because it was her first time on the planet. He almost tripped over her foot as he scanned the room.

He made his way towards a familiar uniform, his wife in tow. It was a Lieutenant Commander. He was talking with the host Rue.

“Speaking of fellow officers,” he interjected, stepping into the conversation. “Captain Charles, commander of First Scouting Squadron of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy.” There was no flourish. It was the same tone he always used, whether that be ordering a bombardment or buying drinks.

“This is my wife Hannah,” he continued. “Former Ambassador of Castillon. You may have seen her friend the current Ambassador around High Command.”

He felt her straighten against him.

Hannah | Corrox City | N&Z - Tarsai Vigil Building:
She had been pressing herself against his arm since they stepped off the shuttle. The city was loud and unfamiliar and smelled of things she didn't have words for. She had decided well before arriving that his arm was the best place to be. She always did.

Then he introduced her.

Former Ambassador of Castillon.

She straightened, stepping forward slightly to address both.

“Mistress Rue," she said. “Thank you for the invitation. My husband and I are honored to be here.” she turned her head slightly. “Greetings to you as well Lieutenant Commander." Imperial ranks were easy to read. After all she had been living around them for nearly a year.

She stepped back against his arm.

She had done what was needed. Now she waited, internally calculating the situation around them, though she was careful not to show it.

The room filled around them.

It didn't matter. As long as she felt her husband, she could take on anything.

An Untold Awakening

The transport speeder glided through the rust-veined arteries of Corrox, and I sat in silent contemplation behind darkened transparisteel, as the capital unfolded before me like the exposed souls of some dead ancient mechanical civilization.

Endless junkyards stretched across the horizon, mountains of discarded starship hulls and forgotten machinery rising from the wastelands like metallic tombstones. They glittered beneath the sickly light of Mahporeem's sky, reflecting fractured constellations from countless broken surfaces.

To many, it would have appeared as decay; a monument to failure and obsolescence.

To me, it was beautiful.

Every rusted engine and shattered reactor core whispered of entropy, of civilizations devouring themselves beneath the indifferent gaze of the cosmos.

The gathering I approached was supposedly important, filled with entrepreneurs and visionaries eager to shape the future through credits and commerce.

Their ambitions were of little consequence to me.

While they sought prosperity, I pursued entirely different currents moving beneath the surface of reality, currents older than markets, older than governments, older perhaps than the stars themselves.

The speeder settled upon its landing platform with a hiss of escaping pressure. I rose and secured a small breathing apparatus over my mouth and nose before stepping into the polluted air.

The atmosphere clawed at exposed flesh with chemical bitterness, carrying the scent of industrial waste and ancient corrosion. Beneath the sprawling branches of a Tintolivee tree stood an enigmatic woman, aquata in hand, greeting arrivals with effortless warmth.

Her words drifted toward me through the haze.

"Hi! I am so excited to see so many people came to Corrox City. I know it smells bad outside, but in here, you can breathe easily. Feel free to take your equipment off. We will give it back to ya after it's all over!"

I regarded her for a moment through blood-hue eyes hidden beneath my shadowed hood.
"How generous," I replied softly, my voice carrying the faint resonance of distant echoes. "Though I have learned that what one leaves at the door is rarely what is returned."

With that, I stepped past her and entered the facility. Immediately I felt it, not through the Force alone, but through something subtler. Success saturated the structure like incense in a mausoleum.

Wealth, ambition, confidence, greed, aspiration; countless triumphs lingered in the walls as tangible as spectral fingerprints. The entire building hummed with the psychic residue of achievement, a shrine erected not to gods but to victory itself.

I extended a gloved hand and plucked a frosty blue fruit drink from the tray of a passing service droid, the glass cold enough to bite at my fingertips through the silk gloves as though it carried a fragment of some distant frozen moon within its crystalline depths.

Taking a measured sip, I allowed my gaze to drift across the assembled crowd, watching them mingle beneath the glow of artificial starlight.

The muted whine of a luxury shuttle's repulsors briefly cut through Corrox City's endless industrial chorus before fading into the background. It lacked the ostentation of a noble procession or the intimidating profile of a military transport. Finished in a deep obsidian accented only by a discreet silver Zenith Point Ventures emblem near the boarding ramp, it projected exactly what its owner intended: wealth that no longer needed to advertise itself.

The hatch lowered. A pair of impeccably dressed security specialists descended first, their dark attire tailored well enough that they might have been mistaken for executive assistants until one noticed the subtle bulges beneath their jackets and the practiced way their eyes swept the surrounding streets. Behind them followed three corporate associates carrying polished datapads instead of briefcases, already exchanging quiet observations regarding traffic density, freight movements, and nearby industrial holdings.

Only then did Nolle Tron appear. She stepped onto Mahporeem's soil with measured grace, the long charcoal gown flowing effortlessly behind her as though untouched by the polluted winds that swept through Corrox. Against the dreary palette of rusted metal and smokestacks, her blue-green complexion stood out with almost unnatural elegance, while crimson eyes calmly surveyed the skyline rather than the crowd waiting below. Every movement suggested someone entirely comfortable standing at the center of attention without ever seeking it.

The moment the city's infamous odor reached her, one corner of her mouth lifted into an amused smile. "So that's not an exaggeration."

A slim datapad was offered by one of her aides. "The environmental reports understated it by nearly forty percent."

"They usually do," Nolle replied lightly, accepting the device only long enough to skim several highlighted figures. Freight throughput. Orbital docking capacity. Manufacturing output. Labor availability. Shipyard ownership. Insolvency forecasts. Political stability indexes. Everything she actually cared about. She handed the datapad back before beginning the short walk toward Vūm's newly acquired offices.

Inside, the atmosphere changed almost immediately. The imported Tintolive tree caught her attention first—not because of its rarity, but because importing and maintaining such a specimen on Mahporeem represented an unnecessary expense. An intentional one. A company that spends money on symbolism understands appearances. Her gaze drifted naturally toward the young hostess beneath its branches. Rue. Far younger than expected. Interesting.

Before she approached, movement near the refreshments briefly drew her attention. Another guest had entered with an unmistakable air of self-possession, the hooded woman's breathing apparatus and crimson eyes lending an almost theatrical severity to an otherwise measured demeanor. Nolle caught only a fragment of her exchange with Rue before the woman continued into the room, taking a drink from a passing service droid as though she had every right to be there. Not military. Not another executive, at least not one announcing herself through familiar channels. Interesting.

Nolle lingered only long enough to note the subtle reactions—or lack thereof—from those already gathered. Whatever the woman's business, it clearly wasn't today's presentation. She filed the observation away with the hundreds of other quiet details she habitually collected before entering negotiations. Influence revealed itself in many forms, and experience had taught her never to dismiss the quietest person in the room.

Only then did her attention settle upon two far more familiar faces. Lieutenant Commander Aldus Kragg. Captain Charles. Faces she had seen more than once in Mahporeem propaganda reels and internal briefings prepared by Prystill Oasay, her former assistant. Military officers whose reputations carried considerably more weight than their appearances suggested. She inclined her head politely toward the pair.

"Lieutenant Commander Kragg. Captain Charles." No lengthy introductions. No explanation. Merely the acknowledgment of someone who clearly knew exactly who they were.

Only then did she approach Rue beneath the branches of the Tintolive tree. "Nolle Tron." There was no embellishment in the introduction. None was necessary. "Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Point Ventures." Her expression remained warm, though distinctly analytical. "Thank you for extending the invitation. I've followed developments surrounding the Five Veils Route for some time now. Political borders have a habit of changing faster than commerce. Trade, however..." Her eyes briefly wandered toward the market displays glowing across the room before returning to Rue. "...always finds the most efficient path."

She folded her hands comfortably before her. "My associates and I are here to learn where private investment can reinforce that path. Zenith prefers building infrastructure that remains valuable regardless of whose flag happens to be flying overhead." The statement was diplomatic enough to avoid offending the Imperial officers present while making Zenith's position unmistakably clear. They were not here to pick sides. They were here to invest in whatever future proved durable enough to justify the capital.
