Basic Information:
  • Age: 23
  • Species: Human
  • Gender: Female
  • Height: 1.70 meters
  • Weight: 59 kg
  • Married to Captain Charles

Physical Description:
Hannah is a young human woman standing at 1.70 meters with a slight hourglass figure. She has dark brown hair typically worn in a loose practical braid. She is naturally pretty in the unassuming way of someone who doesn't particularly think about it. She has striking green-hazel eyes, and the composed direct bearing of someone who spent years as a planetary Ambassador and has not entirely set it aside.

Her wardrobe is simple. On Castillon she favored practical sundresses and sturdy boots, functional, comfortable, appropriate for someone who spent much of her time in a garden or in the library. She keeps one formal dress for occasions that require it. She has not worn it recently. Aboard the Stryker II and in ninety percent of her daily life she wears The Shirt, a heavily decorated cream colored pajama shirt originally belonging to Captain Charles, worn with the same colored pajama pants and fluffy slippers. The shirt bears many patches she has collected over her relationship with Captain Charles, her name tag, the MIN Stryker II tag, a Mahporeem patch, campaign patches from every engagement First Scouting Squadron has participated in, ship identification badges from all 34 vessels in the squadron, nickname patches, etc. She is never seen without it onboard the ship.

Inventory:

  • The Shirt - A cream colored pajama shirt originally belonging to Captain Charles. Acquired during a rice paddy incident in the Viridian Hills of Castillon at month six of their relationship. Now decorated with patches, campaign ribbons, and ship identification badges from all 34 vessels of First Scouting Squadron. Presented formally at a squadron-wide event. She is never seen without it onboard.
  • Personal Datapad - A standard issue encrypted datapad she uses to communicate with friends and relatives back on Castillon.
  • The Handkerchief - Given to her by Captain Charles. She brings it everywhere she goes.
Personality and Beliefs:
Hannah Charles is organized to a degree that borders on compulsive. She reorganizes filing systems when anxious, carefully integrated her belongings into Charles’s Quarters to make it feel like a home, wrote a 847 page Ambassador’s handbook and fixed the ship’s communications flagging system without being asked. She is observant in the specific way of someone who spent a year managing relay traffic and diplomatic correspondence. She notices patterns, remembers details, and processes information quickly. She has memorized her husband’s schedule and knows all of his routines. She does not discuss this. When she is around people she trusts she is warm, direct, and occasionally formidable. She tends to be cautious around strangers and rarely ventures onto foreign worlds without Charles. When she is with Charles, she doesn’t restrain herself. She is sweet, warm, passionate, direct, jealous and sometimes formidable. She rarely leaves his side and trusts him completely. She supports his work completely and would never ask him to be anything other than what he is. She does not like that he is always the first into danger. She has mentioned it a couple of times. But she doesn't need to. He knows.

Strengths:

  • Exceptional Information Processing - thanks to her knowledge from reading and managing Castillon's relay network while simultaneously serving as the planet's Ambassador for a year Hannah is well versed in communications, diplomatic correspondence and general data interpretation.
  • Social Awareness - Hannah possesses an exceptional ability to read people, navigate political situations and identify what people actually mean versus what they say covering for her husband's naivety in high stakes social situations like politics.
  • Personal Loyalty - Her devotion to Charles and familial affiliation for First Scouting Squadron means she will go to great lengths to protect them, especially her husband.

Weaknesses:
  • No Combat Capability - She is a civilian in every sense and should be treated as one in any engagement scenario.
  • First Scouting Squadron Priority - she is treated as a younger sister by every member of First Scouting Squadron excluding Captain Charles (who she is married to). If she were in danger every member of the squadron, from the lowest private to Charles himself, would drop what they were doing and come to her rescue no matter the cost.
  • Personal Loyalty - the same devotion that makes her an asset in calm situations becomes a critical vulnerability the moment Captain Charles is in danger. She panics. Her composure, carefully built over years, fails immediately and completely. She becomes difficult to manage and impossible to redirect until she knows he is safe. She has dreamed of a version of this life where he is not in danger everyday.

Historical Information:
Hannah Charles was born and raised on Castillon during the latter end of its six hundred year isolation from the wider galaxy. Her father is Edward and her older brother is Jager. She spent her childhood in libraries and gardens, was terrified of strangers until well into her early twenties, and became her planet's first Ambassador almost by accident. She just happened to be the most qualified person available and she had read everything, which in the absence of formal diplomatic training turned out to be sufficient.

When Charles arrived on Castillon, she was the third person to meet him, though she had to be dragged out of the house by Jager, a fact that she hated in the moment but now considers the best thing that ever happened to her. She was 21 at the time.
Their relationship began as friends. Edward would often rely on her and Jager to show Charles around the different communities and overtime they got closer. Hannah’s feelings for him started relatively early on, but she wasn’t completely sure of them until a night in a grain field. It didn’t seem like much, just a friendly pat on her shoulder, but she felt it for days after. She knew when they had visited the Viridian Hills the day after. Lyra had asked her if she was considering any guys and she was unable to answer. She knew when he had become increasingly exasperated he was completely missing her signals. When she said “I love you.” to the sky after Charles had departed to head back to Mahporeem, she meant it, in the fullest sense.

When he returned she confessed immediately. The two of them had found a quiet moment on the bridge late one evening. Charles was telling her about what his mentor Banks had told him “That a warrior fights differently when he has something worth returning to.” She had realized it was an ideal moment and took it, the two sharing a tender first kiss. Their dating life was a rollercoaster. Charles had been using a framework from a novel he read with his mother when he was nine, the only info and experience he had related to romance. She had found this both cute and frustrating, due to the fact that it slowed the pace of the relationship to a pace that was much slower than she liked. They were greatly assisted by Charles’s XO Holt and Hannah’s best friend Sena. Their schemes were the critical factor in pushing the relationship into marriage a year later.

Hannah officially retired as ambassador a month before her marriage to Charles and moved onto the Stryker II permanently even before that. She spent that month compiling all her notes into an official Ambassador’s handbook 847 pages long. She had presented it to Sena who took over the position. She was also officially accepted into the First Scouting Squadron community, who had covertly put her through a series of tests in a bid to protect their Captain’s heart. She had figured it out at about month six of their relationship, but played along determined to earn their trust as well.

The full account of her story from her first meeting with Charles through her life aboard the Stryker II can be found in the Castillon Arc along with additional lore.
