- A greatly needed improvement over the T40, the T60 has an expanded cargo capacity capable of carrying 60,000 metric tons of cargo or it can carry twenty passengers if the ship has been configured for them.
- Extra armor plating and a deflector shield system allow the T60 to survive a couple of hits from ships that might attack it such as pirates.
- The addition of two Aurora Crest Drives have given the ship a much needed boost in speed over its predecessor.
- The T60 Freighter is not designed for combat situations as it is sold. It is highly recommended by anyone flying a T60 to avoid warzones as, while Leamonde Laser Cannons are strong, only having two mounted on the cockpit is not ideal for battle except against lightly armed pirates.
- The capacity to carry cargo goes down accordingly as room is made for passenger seating, and this cannot be reversed until the ship is docked and seats removed or cargo offloaded as the case may be.
Designed as part of Aurora Industries' Phase III modernization program, the T60 Freighter is meant to replace the old T40 Heavy Freighter the company acquired when it purchased a previous iteration of Nubia Star Drives. The old freighter had certainly seen better days, with limited cargo capacity and defenses, and it was time for an upgrade. The design team was ecstatic to be able to design and build something new, as many of them were still from that acquisition and the company had been having those facilities continue their old production lines.
The engineering team made use of some of the new Aurora Industries components, like the Leamonde Laser Cannons, Aetharstar Reactor, and the Crest Drives, while greatly expanding the cargo capacity of the ship. Extra armor plating was added on, especially around the cargo and passenger hold, and a standard deflector shield system was opted for instead of the new Xandret. All in all, the team was happy with their new vessel and immediately began production once they received the greenlight from Ary Jaxson.
