Swamp Thing

Toydaria, wreckage of the Silver Jedi Shuttle San City

OOC
This is a bonding and survival padawan pack story. We were heading to training and have crash landed in one of the most dangerous swamps. Grabworms and other monsters occupy the swamp with a clear 40km to the nearest town. The ship has suffered a complete power failure. The droid pilots did not make it.

Acaadi was trembling like a leaf when he woke. He opened his eyes and tried to work out what the sound filling his head was. It was his own voice. He was screaming in pain. Acaadi snapped his eyes shut. He did not some crying out.

In that brief flash of light he saw that he was no longer sat upright. He could still feel the belt across his shoulder and waist but he had been looking at the ceiling. That meant his chair had collapsed.

The pain was slowly working it's way higher and higher through his awareness. Up from the base part of himself that had already started to cry out. Up into the part of his mind that was already trying to piece together what had happened.

Pain blossomed out from the middle of his shin. That fire spread all the way up his leg and burned through his spine. Acaadi could feel sweat pouring down his face. His breathing was sharp and ragged and he needed to bring it back under control.

Taking a deep breath he tried to find the Force. He failed. He tried again to at least centre himself and slow his breathing down. His pulse still raced but he managed to collect more of his thoughts.

Acaadi dared to open his eyes again. He was on the floor, his chair still behind him. Slowly he let his gaze pan down. Nausea crept up the back of his throat as he reached his left leg. It was between his chair and another one. Twisted at an unnatural angle. His trousers were stained with his blood. Something was pushing up against the fabric and he nearly threw up when he suspected it would be bone.

He gulped for air but it didn't feel like any came. Gripping the arm rests until his knuckles went white he called out: "Is anyone here? Please?"

Kyra stirred, echoing Acaadi’s scream as she did. The pain in her leg was so blinding, she felt like she might go back under again. Where were they, what was going on? These were questions any rational person might think of in a moment like this, but the agony inside her head was all consuming. Kyra couldn’t think past it. She just had to make it stop. Nida had shown her a thing or two on how to heal with the force, and while she barely showed any potential with it compared to her sister, she groped for her leg anyway.

Her fingers brushed her shin with desperation, finding smooth skin and— wait. No pain. Or rather, as she strained against her seat belt and pulled her leg closer, the pain neither increased nor decreased in response. It simply was, almost as if it was ... oh.

She fell back onto her back, a shard of something hard digging into her side. She ignored it and bit at her lip, trying to think through the chaos to clear her mind. Deep breaths. Feel the force... release it... she was water, blah blah blah.

The pain of those around her bleed out of her awareness, the little Zeltron’s mind reeling in an attempt to separate her own experiences from the emotions she was picking up around her. Holy. Hell. She panted, her breath condensating around her as she stared dimly at the flashing emergency lights.

What?

A crash. The answer came to her and she groaned in displeasure.

Hello?” Called a voice. Acaadi.

She coughed, the air on the room already growing stale without life support systems running to filtrate it for them. “Acaadi?” She called back. The minds of others pressed against her awareness, varying levels of confusion, fear, or pain from the other padawans they had been traveling with. Kyra recognized why her empathetic ability had been so overwhelming, a first for her surely.

But so was something like this.

She forced herself to keep taking deep breaths, trying to keep her mind clear of it all as she fumbled for her buckle. It released her, sending her tumbling to her side. She took stock of her body and quickly noted that her pain paled in comparison to what she had felt from her friend.

“Where are you?” She croaked, crawling blindly towards him.

Ura tried to get her senses about her. She thought back to what happened. She wasn't organic, the g-forces hadn't done their dirty work on her body. As if a Lervon's particulate, sand-like body could actually be damaged like that. The green glow of her eyes soon returned as she reconstituted herself, letting out a shout of "fear," though she couldn't really express her emotion through her voice, when she realized there was a fire near her. Heat. Probably sounded stupid, but she was scared it would melt her crystal mass. She couldn't just heal like the others. Once part of her was gone.... It was then that she heard voices. Two voices.

She finally got her humanoid form back as she slowly followed the voices, using her Force driven vision to home in on where they were. it was then that she noticed [member="Kyra Perl"] , someone she was at least acquainted with. She ran up, looking her fellow Padawan over for any injuries. Wait...? She really needed a biology class or something. Ura finally spoke up in her normal monotone, the Lervon's fear and nervousness only evident in the Force.

"Kyra? Are you ok? The ship... it...."

[member="Acaadi"]

Waking with a start, Kat growled in deep anger. She warned the stupid pilot bots that the ship needed some maintenance and that they should make a stop. But no, stupid bots insisted that they knew best and that there was no problem with the ship. She hated crashes, especially after the last crash had destroyed her legs so she couldn't move, being worse than useless. Looking down, Kat feared for a moment that her legs had broken off again, however, she could feel it trapped and trying to move. It was a modicum of relief as she unbuckled herself from the seat and grabbing the wreckage trapping her foot.

"Ughhhhnnnn. C'mon you sarlaac piece of... Guhhhhhh!" Kat lifted with all her strength but it was still too heavy. "Damnit, I'm trapped. No. No, I can't be trapped." Kat told herself as she looked around and could feel fear of being in this wreckage forever. "Maybe the Force? Maybe..." Kat was certain, she was still learning a lot but it was something that she needed to do. Building the Force in her hand, she lifts up the wreckage enough to slip her foot away before it slams back down hard. "Phew." Kat pants as she checked her legs, ensuring that nothing was damage, just scuffs. Seems the metal was tough enough to handle the weight.

Wiping the sweat from her brow, Kat move forward and heard talking. People were searching for each other, moving through the wreckage best she could. "Hey! Is everyone okay? Any serious injuries? Let me know, been studying Force Healing." Kat called out as she tried to move closer to the voices.

Reggie woke up in confusion, taking awhile to realize what was going on. He had a headache that prevented him from forming his thoughts properly. Why? "Think, think. Come on, what's going on. Why can't I..." Reggie was calming himself as he spoke, trying not to panic.

As he calmed himself down as much as he could, everything finally came back to him. His ship had crashed and something must have hit his head on impact, making him black out for a bit. "What else was there? Who was I with? Ah, right. The other Padawan's.....the others!" Reggie tried to leap up when realization and panic hit him. The seat belt stopped his attempt though, which came accompanied with a bit of pain from his head.

Reggie waited for the pain to pass until he heard the voices of his companions. Ignoring his headache, Reggie quickly unbuckled himself and stood abruptly under shaky legs, falling onto the ground soon after. He refused to gain his strength while his peers could be in danger. Reggie got up with a lot of effort, using the force as best he could to support him, and moved towards the voices.

if they're watching anyways
Auteme was passed out. She had been conked. Fainted. Lost consciousness. Blacked out. Unaware. Completely and utterly incapacitated. Collapsed. Keeled over.

There's only so many words for it, but basically she was passed out for a while.

Oddly enough she was the one who woke up first -- she didn't feel any pain, really, just an incredibly annoying sensation in the back of her head; an all-encompassing thumping that reverberated through her skull. Her eyes fluttered open and took in her surroundings. Words began to pop into her head. Padawans. Crash. Toydaria. Danger. Hurt.

Family. Parents. Danger. Nar Shaddaa. Crash.

Auteme's imagination was wild at times, and often she wished it was not so. Thinking back to that day made her feel sick in the stomach, and somehow that lessened the rest of the feelings of hurt and pain from this moment. For a second she even thought her parents might've been on the ship, that she might've lost them again. But no, it was just her.

Just her.

From her position on the cold floor of their crashed ship, she couldn't see anyone, and she didn't want anyone to see her as she curled up and began to cry. She didn't know what brought it on, but right then she didn't care. The teenager sobbed quietly, desperately wishing she was anywhere but here, thinking of anything else.

Acaadi had never felt a pain like this. He had never suffered an injury so painful that it seemed as if he could not stand another moment of the agony. He clenched and un-clenched his fists. Arched back and writhed and then tucked his chin into his chest. He tried to find some kind of inner peace, but all that was inside waiting for him was more pain.

He tried to focus on the voices. Other people were alive. It was not just him trapped alone from the crash. As the shuttle went down he had started to try and prepare for the darkness. This was only the second time he had truly been faced with his own mortality. It was not an easy thing to deal with.

Kyra Perl said:
“Where are you?” She croaked, crawling blindly towards him.

"Over...here!" Acaadi shouted. He kept breathing too fast, body refusing to pause even to speak. He clenched his eyes shut and tried not to look down. He knew that was his own shin bone trying to push through the bloodied fabric.

Kat Decoria said:
"Hey! Is everyone okay? Any serious injuries? Let me know, been studying Force Healing." Kat called out as she tried to move closer to the voices.

"Hey!" was all Acaadi managed to shout before collapsing in on himself. His chair had buckled and he was on his back. Focusing on a point on the ceiling he tried to push the pain from his mind, to find some semblance of self-control.

“Acaadi,” Kyra cough, explaining to Ura without much of an actual explanation. She was winded, so winded. Her chest throbbed fiercely, making her wonder if she had been hit by something and blacked out. It was hard to differentiate her own pain from those around her, and so she ignored it all and crawled on forward.

“He’s hurt,” She wheezed. She stumbled across him them, coming up on his head. She scrambled for him, grabbing at his shoulders to help pull him up. But the very motion set his body afire with pain. Kyra flinched, letting go of him and pressing a finger to her temple.

Breath

“Heeeeelp!” She hollered, groping out for his hand again. “Someone help! He’s- god. Oh god.” She caught sight of his pant leg, the flashing emergency lights giving way to the odd angle and outline of protruding bone.

“You’re okay, you’re okay, you’re okay,” she uttered, tears immediately bursting from her. “You’re okay, oh no-you’re okay.” It was unclear who she was soothing, her hands fretting over his face and torso helplessly. Even if she could heal like her sister, she couldn’t pull an ounce of that concentration out in a moment like this.

“For gods sake someone get over here!” Despite the harsh words, it was a desperate plea.

Reggie wanted to let his body fall to the ground and rest. He wanted to stop pushing himself through the almost unbearable pain in his head and aching body. He probably would have if he didn't hear someone crying not to far from him.

Reggie pushed himself to find the person crying, ignoring the pain that came with it. He moved as quickly as he could, which wasn't very fast at all at the moment. Nonetheless, he found [member="Auteme Denko-Durren"], curled in a ball and crying. Reggie moved to her and examined her for any injuries quickly. "Are you hurt?"

Not seeing injuries himself, Reggie gently wrapped his arms around Auteme and tried to calm her down. If she moved away from him as he did this, he would back away from the teenager to give her space. " shhh, It's alright. You're ok. You're ok."Reggie said these words over and over with a soothing voice, hoping it would help.

Tears began to form in his own eyes, though not because of the pain he was feeling. More because of the state Auteme was in. He may not have known anything about her besides her name, but Reggie hated when others were in pain, whether physically or emotionally. His heart moved him to help anyone he could, to help those who were in distress.

The pain Reggie was feeling in his head increased, and that feeling of wanting to pass out came back. He fought it back though, worried more about his Auteme and the others more than himself.

Ura's eyes went wide when she heard Kyra. She could tell she was hurt, but Acaadi was definitely worse, at least from what little she knew of organic biology. She looked back to her friend, not knowing exactly what to do. She looked back at the more injured padawan, quickly shifting around to get him out of his, cutting any restraints with blades formed from herself. She looked noticing the bone.

"I... I might be able to help, but you're hurt too." Ura looked at the bone, cutting the pant leg around it for a better look. She looked back at Kyra, focusing on her leg for a second in an attempt to understand what to do. She then looked at Acaadi, knowing it'd be best to say something, even if her monotone couldn't hide her fear from those there.

"If someone can find the stuff to make... whatever it's called, I... I think I can put it back in place. This.... I don't know if this will hurt or not, but.... Ok." Ura slowly tired to reset the bone, attempting to get to bone back where it was supposed to go. She just... she had to try. At least to get the bone back in place. She took full advantage of her shifting as she tried to reset the bone. Poodoo! She really needed to find somewhere to learn biology if they made it out of this.

Listening, she could hear cries and conversation that things were a lot more dire with other Padawans. Kat sighed, she needed to get through the rumble best she could, and faster the better. Gripping rumble with the Force, she moved the rumble out of the way best she could. Moving around the wreckage, Kat found herself with Acaadi, Kyra and Ura. She moved next to them, examining the leg and injuries that sustained the group. "I can heal this but it will take time I will need some space." Kat stated as she drew upon her Force powers. Using the Force to heal the worst of the wounds would be tricky but it was certainly possible, she had been doing a lot of work on the different anatomy of species.

Inhaling deeply, Kat's hands gently touched the injury and she poured the Force into the wound. Slowly she begun to heal the injury, it was not easy, especially the bone which was slower to mend but she did the best that she could. Kat then tended to the other wounds that were less severe and were not in dire need of medical attention. Looking over to Kyra and Ura, "are either of you in need of healing?" Kat had herself some scratches and bruises but she knew that she needed to focus on the others for now. "What about other Padawans? Do we know where they are? I think we should all meet up."

The world slow came to. At first it felt like she was under water, as sounds were muffled and her body felt sluggish. Then the pain set in and world quickly began to focus. Prior events started to replay in her mind. The ship going down, bracing for impact and then...waking up.

Tyra opened her eyes and quickly shut them at the sudden pain. Her left eye felt like it was on fire and hurt to much to open. Keeping her left eye closed, she opened her right and took in her surroundings. The storage room, or what was left of it, was a mess. Cargo containers were piled near the front of the room, shelves were tossed about and other supplies were destroyed. Tyra herself was leaning against the wall, partially buried by a shelving unit.

She placed her hands and a foot on the shelving unit. Bracing against the pain, she pushed with all her might. The shelving unit ground and began to slowly move. She needed to get clear of this debris, she needed to find the other padawans and make sure they were all right. The shelf was heavy, even for a Valkyri, but she eventually made enough room for her to crawl out of the wreckage.

Tyra slowly stood, even though her body protested, and her first few steps were shaky. She crawled over twisted metal and smashed crates till she reached the far end of the room. Luckily the first aid kit survived the crash and was still stuck to the wall. First thing was first, she had to patch her eye. The thing felt like it was on fire and she still couldn't open it. Which was easier said than done as she put a bacta patch over it and tried her best at tapping it down.

With eye patched up to the best of her ability, Tyra made her way deeper into the vessel. Unlit hallways were strewn with debris, steel paneling, and electrical wires. The going was slow as she navigated the downed vessel. Tyra stopped when she heard voices nearby. The padawans? The Valkyri picked up her pace until she came across [member="Reggie Faayare"] and a crying [member="Auteme Denko-Durren"]. The sight made Tyra's chest tighten some in worry for the two.

She hurried over to the two and knelt down beside them. Tyra's voice caught in her throat as she couldn't find the words to say anything. She could tell them that they were going to be okay. But would they be? Instead, she placed a hand on Reggie's shoulder. When she spoke, her voice was dry and cracking from both thirst and nerves. "We...we'll be alright."

Acaadi said little to Kyra. His expression was nothing but pained relief to have someone, anyone nearby.

"I'm alright..." he actually tried to mumble bravely at seeing her shock. He definitely wasn't. It was taking every ounce of concentration to keep himself awake.

Having someone reset a bone or put a dislocated joint back into place was something Acaadi had seen on holofilms. When Ura suggested it he gave Kyra's hand a squeeze and nodded.

It did hurt. It hurt more than anything he had ever felt. He arched up off the floor and opened his mouth in a soundless scream. The tendons in his neck all stood out until eventually he collapsed back, breathing heavily.

Acaadi drifted in an out of consciousness as Kat used the Force to heal his injuries. It was like having an angry thorn pulled out from his soul. His breathing slowed, some colour returned to his skin. When he looked up at them again there was recognition in his eyes once more.

Acaadi very slowly sat up. The leg still hurt, but it was nothing compared to the pain that had been and gone. He dared to look down to see his bloodied skin now in tact under the ripped trousers. It still didn't feel right on the inside, where the bone was still trying to fuse together.

"Thank you," he finally said, looking to Kat, Kyra and Ura in turn. "Could someone find something I could...use as a crutch?"

Kyra fell back from them all, her pink sheen impressively paled as she gave the chaos a hundred-yard stare. She would respond to nothing said to her then, her body shaking as if she had had her leg set herself. Any movement towards her had her jerking back, as if the very motion caused her pain.

Kyra had always considered her empathic gift to be in check. She had been raised with it, grown with it. She had never thought it was anything that she couldn't handle. Then again, she had never witnessed more trauma than a broken noise. And she hadn't been holding Dragon's hand during it.

She staggered up, managing to catch her feet and tumble away from them. She stumbled on the tilted ground, catching herself on an askew table and vomiting across it. This was surprisingly mind-clearing. There was something all consuming about upending your stomach on the ground. Almost... meditative, one might say.

Breath in. Heave. Gasp quick for air! Heave. And again-- your whole body is absorbed in the task, not even your ears are spared the thudding blood rush as the metallic sting of copper slides across your tongue. It coats your hands warm and wet. And finally, the stench reaches your nose. You know. Once you snort the vomit chunks out of it.

All engrossing. Really.

Kyra gasped for air in the little bit of space she had made for herself, the scream of Acaadi's anguish fading off from her fingertips. Tears slid silently down her face. She grabbed a broken table leg and held it out behind her, not turning around.

A silent offering for a crutch.

Ura was quick to get all of her crystal mass off of Acaadi’s leg and bone so that Kat could heal him. At the same time, it was partially so some of her wouldn’t get stuck in her fellow Padawan. That would’ve been... awkward. Especially for Acaadi, or any organic if this happened. Either way, she’d rather not be stuck somewhere, so she watched at Kat got to work healing his leg, but noticed Kyra, who definitely wasn’t doing good! She looked sick, yet, she started to hold something out.

Ura saw the table leg Kyra was offering, and slowly walked up, grabbing it before taking it over to Acaadi. She couldn’t help but feel for the pink skinned Padawan though. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but her friend seemed to be in some sort of pain through the Force itself. Ura closed her eyes, focusing on Kyra and trying to establish some link to speak with her through the Force. It may have seemed weird, but it would be easier for the Lervon to convey concern for her. Once she thought she had something, Ura spoke.

“Kyra? Are you ok? Are you hurt?”

if they're watching anyways
Auteme almost instantly latched onto whoever had decided to come over to comfort her. She was partly touch starved, partly an emotional train wreck, partly still in pain. She stayed still for a while. Crying was very time consuming. The fact that somebody was there to watch her sob on the ground for a while was embarrassing, but the fact that they stayed and tried to comfort her was... nice.

Finally she began to calm down. The tears stopped flowing, but she stayed still for a little while longer, taking deep breaths as she finally started to pay attention to her surroundings. The crash had partly escaped her notice, all she could remember was the last time she'd been in a situation like this. It was clear what had brought it on. This time would be different than the last.

"Thanks," she said quietly. She didn't really know the other padawans, but already one was helping her out by calming her down. Auteme shifted away from the young man and climbed to her feet, checking herself over. It seemed that she'd gotten a few bumps and bruises, but nothing major. Lucky. "Let's... let's go find the others..." The teenager nodded to the two that had come to her, then set off towards the sounds of pain and conversation. They could probably use another healer.

Reggie was a bit suprised when he felt someone touched his shoulder. He didn't even notice them approaching, which meant he was probably in worse shape than he thought. The Padawan didn't even flinch from the touch, his body too tired to react on instinct. He turned his head to [member="Tyra Ashen"] with a weak, but appreciative smile.

Reggie didn't know how long they had stayed like this, time feeling nonexistent. Eventually, [member="Auteme Denko-Durren"] had calmed down and whispered a thanks. He didn't say anything as she shifted away from him.

While falling a bit behind, Reggie also went to find the others. He hoped that the other Padawan's were already grouped up and tending to wounds, which would mean the three of them only had to meet up with the main group. He really hoped that would be the case

"Yuup, uhuh- I mean. No. I'm fine." Kyra groaned. She made a desperate waving motion, trying to keep Ura back. After an unsuccessful moment, she realized why. "Please. Stay out of my head right now. Or the force. Whatever. Just-" Another wave, the girl too desperate to care about manners or feelings.

She gave a sigh of relief once Ura did so, a small sense of weightlessness tingling through her fingers tips.

Right. Okay. They were in a crash, she concluded, taking the moment to orient herself. Acaadi was horrifically injured and in need of being drowned in a bacta tank, asap. There were no adults on board and after the chaos she felt in her mind, there were other padawans alive and in need of ... well crap. A hug. They all needed a hug.

"Is he okay?" She called out, slowly turning around to face them all. She wiped her hands on a book as she slowly inched closer, not wanting to push it just yet. "Acaadi?" Worry bit through her. "You're not allow to die, you know that, right?"

Location: Inside the ship in the Swamp of Toydaria
Objective: Find out what happened

Great. His first field expedition and he woke up surrounded by rubble everywhere. The adrenaline of being vulnerable in a situation like this took over in his head first, voiding the overwhelming amount of pain he was going through at the moment. He jumped up from the corner he was situated in and yelled out to the best of his ability.

"He-" he coughed, interrupting his plea for help. "Help!" coughing again, more and more each time. The adrenaline began to wear off now, allowing the pain to set into his abdomen and legs. While he tried to remain calm, a wet substance coated his hand as he held his stomach. He was bleeding and would bleed out if he didn't find one of the healers on board immediately. If there were any. Unfortunately he woke up after the rest of the Padawans on the ship, but he had the willpower to get onto his knees and try to crawl and navigate, using the weak amount of force pull and push he had learned in the past few rotations.

Up ahead he was faced with a malfunctioning door that kept opening and closing. If he tried to crawl through the door and it snapped back on him, he'd surely pass out from the overwhelming amount of pain that would squeeze his already wounded abdomen. Already tired and fading away, he relaxed and stopped for a moment, gathering all of his energy to try and lunge through the door to the nearest room as painlessly as possible.

One...

Two..

Three.

As he lunged through the door, about 95% of his body made it without a scratch. Unfortunately, everything below his ankles were caught in the violent snap of the door being shut. He screamed in pain one more time before passing out, crying for help.

"Help me! Please! I need he-"

"I'll be fine Kyra," he called out. His voice was as strong as could be given the situation. He gratefully took the length of bent metal and used it to take half his weight as he dared to stand. The theory proved to be sound so he immediately sat down on a chair that was still in fact before he could feint.

"I hear shouting," Acaadi mumbled. There was a natural leader deep inside the young man who might break out one day. It probably wasn't going to be this one.

"Someone should go check that and I'll go to the cockpit...in a bit..."

Now that the pain wasn't overwhelming he needed to get himself back in order. The Force was with him once more. All he needed to do was hold tight to that link and try to push the throbbing pain from his mind. Easier said than done. Acaadi remained seated, skin pale and clammy, breathing slowly.
