HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Home Guard often makes use of well trained Mobile Infantry battalions for high risk assignments. Sullust's mechanized troopers are a volunteer only fighting force of first rate infantry deployed on combat speeders and troop carriers or dropped in by heavy gunship. Although not quite special forces the average Mobile Infantry trooper goes through advanced combat and survival training comparable to some of the galaxy's most organized military powers.

While standard troopers are used on conventional frontlines and pretty much wherever the Home Guard needs trained bodies, the Mobile Infantry is held in reserve for raids and counter-offensives where speed and power is valued more than simply having large numbers. Although they train for movement as sullustans these units are far more skilled at digging in and fortifying than standard mechanized infantry. For the Home Guard a properly dug gun nest works just as well as a troop transport.
