ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Modular Scylla AI intelligent optional fire control, electronic warfare, countermeasures, and ECCM. Additional adapted AI can optionally be deployed in specific defensive roles to protect Scylla as new threats emerge to it.
STRENGTHS
  • Beware its Eyes: Scylla AI for fire coordination, target tracking, and cyber warfare.
  • Anti One Shot: Both shield systems this ship uses are strong against large weapons seeking to pierce ships in one shot, as is the layered armor. With the triflector shields, this includes kamikaze craft trying to ram.
  • Multiple Hearts: Redundant critical systems mean it's even more difficult to completely disable this ship with one strike or one successful boarding action.
  • Thick-headed: Three layers to cut through. Tough Turadium. Heat Resistance in the Duranium offers some protection against superheated plasma discharge. While the Laminanium supports run through all layers allowing for easier repairs to damaged sections.
WEAKNESSES
  • Death by a thousand cuts: Traditional rapid-firing weapons or sustained starfighter attacks are the key to draining this ship's tri shields, not one powerful piercing burst of energy or huge kinetic cannon.
  • Backdoor: The Scylla AI is both a weapon and a vulnerability to skilled slicers.
  • Indirect Fire: The ship's flak field will not discriminate against its own fighter or support craft. A clever opponent can use this to their advantage to nullify or weaken its point defense systems in key areas for their own attacks.
  • Checkmate: Ramming other ships with the shield up is impossible, for the same reason they can't ram you, the triflector shields cause a bouncing effect. Clever opponents with large enough ships can use this to push or force the ship to move where they want it.

With not an Uos or Nayus in sight on this project, it kept this work as secretive as possible to the many groups vying for power within Apex Holdings. Reluctantly partnering with the Tanns and Fire for Effects support only as necessary. When Apex were contacted with their first big ship order, they really were asked to go big. Apex Industrial had put in the work and time on many of the systems necessary, but they still had to draw on older engine designs or hyperdrive models that were tried and tested.

Implementation of extensive biocontainment and laboratory setups was not something Apex had expected, but it was considered an essential part of this ship's design by the contractor. The buyer of this particular line had their own techs do most of the internal work on some of their more selective rooms, to maintain an even higher level of security from the company as to their final function.

Fire For Effect insisted Sere Reene oversee the designs to get their name on the work and put their contractor at ease. Sere is an outstanding weapon tech, so her appointment was more symbolic when it came to much of the work done other than weaponry here. Though the contractor did more than once consult that expertise, especially on the exotic matters of biocontainment, hidden weapon systems, and cyberwarfare, all areas she has extensive experience blowing people up in.

Melsk Thraus III insisted he also be given a credit in the record for his implementation of the triple-layered armor design, his family long having suffered so many rebel scum shooting at it over the years. The armor should both be better insulated from superheated weapons, and act as a cushioning effect against single-shot heavy weapons. In conjunction with the dual shield systems.
