Some Holiday, Am I Right? (Silver Jedi Dominion of Vaynai)

3000842-hikahi05.jpg

A planet of sparkling blue and lush green appeared after the streaks of stars vanished, occupying much of the large observational screen. Standing isolated from the rest of the crew, Rasu looked down at the planet with a grim expression plastered over her face. She had been anticipating this day since the Order's re-emergence, and finally that day had arrived. It had been three standard days since the emergency transmission had been received on Voss and since then, the Jedi had been able to rouse the entire fleet. Although small when put beside the fleets of the much larger more prominent factions, the Silver Jedi and Antarian Rangers had been able to pull together quite the force in their months of preparations, and it had all been building up for such an event as this one here on Vaynai.

The Hutt's were at it again, trying to expand their dominion and engulfing helpless planet after planet, as there cartel grew. Vaynai had been the next on their list in their galactic campaign. Vaynai was well-known for its lavish resorts, it had attracted the eye of the greedy slugs, and their forces had swept down upon the planet, enslaving the worlds population. Those that had escaped, were the few that had been able to send out the transmission, and Rasu had sworn that their efforts would not be wasted.

"No orbital defenses in sight or on the radar Master Gan. It seems the Hutt's haven't gotten round to rebuilding the orbital or planetary defenses since their invasion." came the voice of an aged officer, seated behind a glowing terminal. Light bounced of his eyes, as he looked up at the Shi'ido, still staring out at the planet below.

"This should run a lot smoother then." she replied, bringing her hands up to her lips in thought, she gazed down at the various islands dotted over the planet surface. The Mon Calamari had settled on the planet long ago, finding the vast oceans were similar to the waters of their homeworld. It would be the aquatic routes that the Jedi and their forces would have to take advantage of, if they were going to outsmart the Hutt's. The Silver Jedi Order may have found the orbital stage easy, but the Cartel and their forces would still put up much resistance on the surface. This would not be an easy battle. "Commander, tell our forces that we shall split up into two groups. I want those Hutt's surrounded on the island mesa of Vaynai Archipela. Send half our forces ahead, and prepare them for an aquatic assault while those delayed will embark straight to the island mass. We'll take the Hutt's by surprise and contain them before things get too messy."

"Right away Master Jedi." Pleased with the orders, the man began sending off the Shi'ido's commands to the rest of the fleet, informing them of the layout of the upcoming battle.

"I'll be taking a smaller force to free those civilians who won't be held at the capital." With that said, Rasu departed from the bridge, turning her back on the planet as she headed towards the hangar bay. The Liberation of Vaynai had begun.

Having recently served in the Sixth Battalion Vladimir was used to larger scale actions like this one but this was relatively new territory for the majority of the Antarian Rangers, most of them would be used to smaller scale operations mostly serving support roles on whatever missions the Jedi deemed necessary. No doubt they would be fine though seeing as the Hutts had not had the opportunity to rebuild the orbital defenses they had destroyed during their own invasion. The Hapan man had opted to draft Alpha squad into service here and their experience would no doubt prove invaluable, even if they weren’t rangers themselves they were very capable soldiers in their own right.

In reality Vladimir wasn’t an official ranger either he had not been honored with that title yet, he held the title of Lieutenant, one step below the official title given to those who were considered some of the most elite soldiers in the galaxy. It didn’t bother him though it was only a title and at the moment coming out of hyperspace he had bigger concerns, his turning stomach making it extremely difficult to concentrate.

Assembling his squad at the rear hatch of an old Delta-class DX-9 transport as the rest of the fleet started into the system Vladimir reviewed their mission briefly with the squad. They would go in with the first thrust the planned amphibious landing no doubt the Hutts would have hired some mercenaries to defend their holdings but Alpha squad had faced worse as had the other rangers who milled about in the transport waiting patiently for the fight ahead. All the rangers had opted for their standard RA-1 Ranger armor while Alpha Squad had opted to wear the Tyumen-I armor they were familiar with, it was a mishmash of equipment but that was to be expected, the Antarian Rangers were not a formal army each ranger being like a unit operating independent of others for the most part.

Aika Kawakami

Can one find true light when shadowed in darkness?
A heavy sigh escaped her lips as she stood upon the ramp leading into one of the transports that would be taking them to the planet below. There was no doubt what this was, or what it could become. However, with remnants of the Hutt's organization still running about, the people of Vaynai remained oppressed. They needed to be freed, to set loose to live the lives they chose to. And such a thing wouldn't be able to happen without someone's assistance. It seemed, that on this day, it was up to the Silver Jedi to play the role of helping them to stand on their own once more.

"Counselor Kawakami? Your coming too?" Asked a trooper passing by, shocked to see her. But his question wasn't one that needed an explanation. Rarely did Aika ever venture out with these types of assignments. However, she had heard that Vaynai was a paradise planet. Something that had to been to be believed. And how could one pass that up? "Which group are you heading out with?"

"As matter of fact, I am. I'll be assisting those who choose to stay on land. I can use water to my advantage, but swimming never was my strong suit." Her head panned as she glanced about the hangar buzzing with activity. There little fear to be sensed. Much apprehension, but very little fear. That was good, but also worrying. A lack of fear could always lead to someone running head first into something, and getting many killed. Time would only tell how it worked out. But one thing was for sure, for her first time out with the Silver Jedi, it promised to be interesting.

Jeela stood in the hangar by her assigned transport, listening to the bustle of activity around them. The Force flowed through here, from the many Jedi, as well as the many living beings, all tied together and interconnected. Even in the business of death, life tied all together.

She waited now, still learning to get used to the armorweave she was wearing. It was quite a change from traveling clothes. Fortunately though it was safer. That she appreciated, especially in these battles. Trusty as her old coat was, it would not stop a blaster bolt, which was her greatest concern in his situation.

As a padawan, most of the troops ignored her. She was just another student, rather indistinguishable from the many others. Or perhaps it was due to the relatively short amount of time she had spent on Voss. Even after finding a home with a new Order, she remained a traveler. Currently her journeying had brought her here, seeking to aid a planet conquered by Hutts. It was always a surprise where the Force one.

"This world is beautiful." Matsu stood with a small grin on her face while she slid herself into the duster, it protected her from several things now that she had it and looking around the quarters on the ship she had her interest in a few things. Mostly the hat as she slid it on and checked the rest of her clothing. The journey throughout several places in the galaxy had been grueling but not without its enjoyable moments. That the one auction to help the silver jedi had failed dind't discourage her though it just meant she would get to keep the research notes for ones who respected the knowledge. The artifacts hidden away and safe more for her liking and because the dangerous and keeping many objects in a single place attracted strangers.

That was why she kept in the main room of her ship the data she had been working on while she and Jeela went around to visit places. A smile creeping onto her lips while she walked off the ship and heard Aika. She might not be a master but she had found ways to do things, relearning from old teachers had proven a way to heal herself, relearning from the past, working to see mistakes made then and now helped her as needed. The five priestesses had seen her worthy of a secret few had and she had faced a powerful enemy with only enough connect to move her muscles. The thought of now walking and sending a message to Kiskla Grayson amused her to no end but her pride wouldn't show.

That woman might be foolish and naive but she had been helpful, she had given to the jedi a wonderful gift. She removed the burden and weight, had helped her find a wonderful slice of inner peace for herself that let her sing with the force flowing through her body. Now she was lighter, free, able to rebuild her connection without the politics and problems that came with being a jedi master and one day when she was reborn, when she had refound and healed herself. She would show the woman something, tell her a secret from before either of them were born and go shhh. It was what kept her going while she walked and looked at [member="Aika Kawakami"] speaking. "Didn't I teach you how to swim Aika?"

Shalla this something she had to keep all her training in mind. On this very mission was the very first mission. As she flowing over the eyes of what the planet below was holding for them. It met more to her then those that had gather even knew for her and her sister Shiva as let on her some of her own race was below waiting for them. Flowing around with the force to started to calm herself. Not knowing if their master would be coming on this mission or not.

Objective: The Academy

Knight had come to help the silver jedi as she looked at the world more for interest and enjoyment. They were more noble and without going to war every chance they got. She believed in the Republic but valued the Protectorate, she was able to accomplish more on Thyferra as Exarch then she ever could with a blade. That was why when push came to shove she would always side with the lord protector and the people of the Protectorate.... normally sometimes she found ideas very questionable. Now though she was here mostly trying to ensure the academy established for gifted force users was preserved. She didn't want to see its possible legacy tarnished by reckless force users.

Click. Click. Click. The sounds resounded throughout Marek's quarters as the Magnus metal armor he'd grown so accustomed too locked into place around his abdomen. He'd taken care of his legs already and progressed on to locking in his shoulder pads. Taking one of the scarred and abused black plates in each hand, he locked them into place on the opposite shoulder, following up with his bicep and forearm protectors, the gloves finished things up, and now the Jedi Master simply had to throw a helmet on and he'd be battle ready. Reaching under the bed, he grabbed a helmet that had become oh so familiar to him over the course of his life. The devilish 'T' shape of the visor was intimidating, the entire design was meant to invoke fear, but to Marek it was a reminder, a reminder of where he'd been and where he could go. That was why he kept the damned Sith Stalker helmet.

Stepping into the hall in silence, he moved towards the hangers, helmet hanging loosely in his hands as his waved loosely at his side. Whilst walking he slid on the helmet and patched himself into the communications network, there was to be an amphibious assault. The battlefield was where Marek belonged, and as such, it would be where he went. "I've got the beach." He stated bluntly over the comm network as he moved through the final bulkhead and into the hanger bay. All around him Antarian Rangers geared up for battle, slapping clips into their rifles, checking over their armor, all with an eerie calm. That'd change as soon as the blaster bolts started flying, he'd seen the men in action plenty of times, he knew exactly how they operated. And it was damn impressive.

Doing a final check on her weapons and equipment, Iella was satisfied with her preparations. Master Gan had orchestrated the Silver Jedi to move, the government of Vaynai had issued a plea for help and so they are here to stop the incursion and crime now in place from the Hut Cartel. The planet had lived in peace til now, even though surrounded by several governing bodies they had remained invisible, but with the threat of the Sith encroaching on all boards within the area, the Silver Jedi are constantly on guard for this area of space.

Iella walked down the ramp to set foot on the soil of this beautiful planet, she stood alongside Master [member="Aika Kawakami"] and would assist her and lead support to her. "Master Kawakami, greetings. We you are ready we can move out". She said to the woman beside her.

The entire craft was a buzz of activity, and Rasu found herself in the center of it all as she reached the lower levels of the command ship. Deep within the various hangars, the Shi'ido found an assortment of shuttles and fighters, all loading themselves with soldiers and Jedi alike as they too prepared for their journey down to the surface of Vaynai. Her grim expression still plastered her face, and her emotions darkened even further as those who she knew quite well grew into her vision. Catching sight of her fellow Jedi, she considered greeting them, questioning whether distracting herself was truly the best option at this point into the operation. Ignoring her thoughts, she put aside her negative attitude, and brought back her bright smile, as she rushed to the side of her fellow Jedi Masters.

"Hope we're all ready for this." she said as she joined the growing group of Jedi. Her smile grew as she caught wind of Aika's ails. "Oh and I thought you would be keen for the swim Aika? Or has time being the diplomat left you out of touch with your more practical skills in the field?" Letting loose her cheeky remark, Rasu began heading towards a nearby shuttle, already loading rangers and soldiers alike, all equipped with their aquatic gear as they prepared for their part in the battle ahead. "All those who are ready to get a bit wet, I suggest you gather now before our shuttle departs." Letting her voice echo throughout the hangar, she waited outside the shuttle, its doors still wide open as it waited for the final stragglers to enter into its metal shell.

"Excuse me...!"

Pushing past a couple of soldiers, Connor Harrison looked like he'd been asleep. And he had. He'd missed the conversations before hand en route to Vaynai and only the siren alerting those in the ship of the impending departure of a shuttle had shook up him. He was embarrassed to say the least. His black greatcoat was half off his body as he stretched to slip it on, covering his charcoal grey combat trousers and tunic with Armourweave lacing. His lightsaber flapped at his side as he danced around moving through the bodies.

"Sorry - mind out!"

Coming down a small flight of stairs where he immediately recognised many old faces from the Silver Jedi, and some he didn't, Connor brushed back his black hair and hoped to find the one who had given him the chance of redemption months ago - Iella.

"Master E'ron - forgive me, I had-"

She wasn't there, but he was sure before she had been - or was he dreaming? Now only fellow Master RGan remained of the ones he felt he should apologise to. Lowering his head quickly, he soon returned to be focused and alert at the impending voyage down to the planet.

"Master Gan - forgive me, something detained me up there, but it's sorted now." What a pathetic explanation! "Have I missed the planet-side landing?"

He glanced inside the transport beside Rasu and didn't like the look of where THEY seemed suited up for.

The craft was indeed filled to the brim with troopers and Jedi alike, all eager to begin operations. Wearing the simplistic armour that had stuck with him for what seemed like ages, Master Heavenshield was stood gazing out the viewports. Thurion was of the mindset that he would do what was necessary to safeguard the population from the apparently oppressive Hutt cartels. He had not heard of what kind of cruelty they had inflicted upon the civilians, but he would see it for himself soon enough. He would join the forces that were preparing for an assault from the water, which suited him just fine; a native of planet Pelagon, Thurion had mastered the art of swimming at a very young age, as was custom for most inhabitants of that world. It was a planet almost completely covered in water, with the population living on huge platforms constructed on top of the vast oceans, able to sustain entire cities. Learning how to swim was kind of crucial.

It was shocking that he would think of his homeworld at a time like this; most of the time he rarely ever spent more than a fleeting thought on the subject, for fear of bad memories surfacing. He was done with his past, for the most part. Luckily, a familiar presence caught his attention in the crowd. Turning his attention away from the beautiful view of the planet's surface, he stepped into the sea of soldiers and military hardware alike. Most parted before him wherever he set foot as an act of respect, even though he would not ask to be shown such courtesy. At last he arrived at the Force signature he knew well since a long time back. "You look lost, Jeela. Don't worry; it's just initial nerves. It'll pass once we get down there", he assured the padawan who would be greeted by a bright smile from a blonde, bearded man she had met before, back when both of them were a little less experienced and in different stages of their lives.

Gurbot had for all of his life admonished the effusion of blood by one sentient being towards another sentient, however he also knew that not all creatures were pure of heart and were more than likely to resort to violence simply due to their own ignorance and arrogance. In the case of the Hutt's and their thugs these two qualities festered and oozed like a severe rash or terrible pestilence and now they dared to once more despoil a beautiful and lush world teeming in wildlife-they also threatened to pollute Vaynai's pristine waters with theirs sites on brutal overfishing/mining operations. On top of that, the Hutt's were notorious slavers, Gurbot had witnessed his own people thrust into slavery, the mere thought of it made him flush with indignity and sickness.

Gurbot was always, by natural inclination and evolution, an aquatic being meant to live by any region that had a source of or large body of pristine liquids or water. Vaynai was the most pristine, beautiful world he had ever seen outside of Aquaris the one exception being that here their were actual landmasses. Gurbot's master had been recently propelled into Grandmaster and sole leader of the Silver Jedi which made that much more of an honor to be her apprentice. That being said, Gurbot felt obliged to accompany her, not wanting to miss any opportunity to grow and learn as a Jedi, being so large however, Gurbot was confined to a largely unarmed freighters hull that was carrying supplies and other troops/warriors affiliated with the Silver Jedi. Gurbot comically thought to himself- "They must think I'm some sort of great leader or something adept at the trials of war, it would be idiotic not to get this settled though should they be in for a rude awakening, still at least they might think my size and countenance is somewhat inspiring."

As the freighter quickly tumbled towards the lush worlds atmosphere he could already sense the destruction and low rumble of the guns below many of them surely trying to train their sights on the one freighter Gurbot had hitched, still such things did not worry Gurbot in the least, it was the plight of the civilians as well as his compatriots he thought more so of. Wanting to get in touch with his master for directions on what to do once he reached planetside, Gurbot threw out a flurry of transmissions inquiring about LP's and orders upon arrival also suggesting that Gurbot could aid in compelling the Hutts surrender when it came to final negotiations.

Watching all the Jedi arrive in the landing bay of the ship they all seemed preoccupied, he didn’t envy their connection to the force in times like this, no doubt the suffering of the people below was hard on them. The Lieutenant indicated to his squad that they should load up on their transport the other rangers joining them though not under his command, they were an independent team for now though if the need arose they would be shepherded under his command just as quickly as he took command on any other battlefield. He was at home on the ground and anticipation of being in the thick of it had his adrenaline pumping his stomach calming as the lingering effects of hyperspace faded away.

His team marched up the rear hatch of their drop ship and strapped in another full squad of Rangers joining them leaving plenty of room on the aged vessel. It had certainly seen better days but it seemed to be a tough old bird, years of combat evident on her hull were only evidence of how many engagements the old transport had safely ferried its occupants through. Activating his comm Vladimir spoke briefly. “We are loaded up and ready to go, our transport has room for more for anyone that will be inserting at the main beach LZ.”

Securing his weapon the Hapan man strapped himself into his seat and waited for the rest of the vessel to fill, the pilots would want a full vessel before they departed it increased the survivability of their occupants once they were on the surface.

Jeela shifted slightly, searching. There was a Force presence nearby that she had not felt for quite some time, which she regretted deeply. She turned to see [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] and his bright smile. She hurried towards him, shifting between other individuals pressing around them, and bowed, a wide smile plastered across her face.

"Master Heavenshield, it is good to see you again. It's been too long." She glanced out the viewport, and shrugged slowly. She added softly, "I always feel a little lost. Never quite fit in anywhere I've been." She shrugged and her face regained its neutral composure that it normally wore, although some of,the tautness that was always present had disappeared, and her eyes were a little less hardened.

Rasu Gan said:
"All those who are ready to get a bit wet, I suggest you gather now before our shuttle departs." Letting her voice echo throughout the hangar, she waited outside the shuttle, its doors still wide open as it waited for the final stragglers to enter into its metal shell.
When Master Gan spoke up for those ready for a swim. It was after she had the last of her gear on. "Master Gan I'm ready for your lead.", as her eyes lock upon others in the group that would follow. [member="Connor Harrison"] "Sir I don't think we have met either I"m Shalla, a learner of force and of book teaching of the force and history.", giving a smile with a wink from her left eye.

The transport rocked gently above the planet; Connor couldn't help the swelling of adrenalin inside him. It felt like they were an invasion force ready to liberate an entire planet, like something from the historical Clone Wars decades ago. This was the calling of the Jedi Order that Connor never had, and it seemed the Silver Jedi were now offering it to him.

Across the way he saw the hulking frame of [member="Thurion Heavenshield"], that mightiest and most humble of Jedi who had helped pull Connor back from the brink of darkness many months ago. Beside him was [member="Jeela Tillian "]whom he recognised also from their initial meeting, but something about her gave him concern for her safety - she looked distant, unconfident and...afraid? It reminded him of when he too felt at his lowest from the Force...still, he was not passing judgement and he had to remain grounded.

[member="Vladimir Kirov"] spoke briefly, and it sounded that the transport Connor would prefer to follow was nearly ready. The beach, on land, would be the best place to lead an invasion as such as this.

Invasion...was it an invasion?

All this happened in mere seconds in Connors' head, his thought broken by a new face he hadn't met before; [member="Shalla Horizonis"]. She was bubbly, bright eyed and looked eager, full of determination.

"Greetings Shalla. Connor Harrison, Knight of the Silver Jedi Order at your service. Some say I'm a Rogue Knight, that's up to you to decide. Either way, rogue or not, I serve the Order and always will." Connor offered a gracious nod of the head to her.

The transport swayed once more and felt like it lost some altitude in a split second.

"All those who are ready to get a bit wet, I suggest you gather now before our shuttle departs."

Thus came the final call. There was no time to lose. "You will do fine, padawan. You always have." A hand gently squeezed her shoulder for reassurance. "I will see you down there. I promise." He regretted that that would have to suffice as comfort given to a friend moments before ensuing battle, but such was the way of things; the one thing the Force could not influence was time itself, after all. With a quick nod he departed from [member="Jeela Tillian "]to find the craft he was to follow down, along with taking command of the soldiers accompanying him. He gestured to [member="Rasu Gan"] and [member="Iella E'ron"] alike that his squad was ready. The hatch closed itself after he entered the shuttle lastly, as a leader should to make sure all his soldiers were aboard.

Within the walls of the landing craft there were men and women both of all species, fully equipped with what the Silver Jedi had to offer when it comes to weaponry and armaments. He didn't know them well enough to assume that this was not their first time charging into battle, but he had to make sure their courage would not fail them once the action started. "What's your name, trooper?" he asked the one closest to him. "Private Felain, sir", a female voice replied from within the helmet. "Do not worry about when we get down there, Felain. I'll do my damndest to make sure we all get out of there alive." His gloved hand placed itself atop the sitting soldier's protected head so as to instill some sense of calmness. He looked down at her with a determined face. He meant what he said. Turning to the rest of the troopers sat within the shuttle, he spoke aloud. "Everyone - remove your headgear. I need to see your faces before we take off."

One by one the soldiers under his command took off their helmets, revealing to all what they looked like and give just a hint of who they were. "Thank you. My name is Thurion Heavenshield, Jedi Master of the Levantine Sanctum, and Shield of the Order of the Silver Jedi." Thus, his introduction was complete. "I want each of you in here to give me your name. I don't care about rank; fighting for a friend is worth more than fighting for an officer any day, in my book." All of them looked at eachother, before one by one they spoke their names aloud:

"Bore Terrahn. I come from Coruscant."
"Vahn Chorl. My homeplanet's Voss."
"Isala Reydon, from Ord Mantell."
"Lorth Palaerdo. My family comes from Tatooine."

And finally there was only one remaining trooper left to speak. "I-I'm... my name is..." She was a mirialan girl, barely looked old enough to serve with dark freckles across her nose, beautifully contrasting her emerald skintone. The Jedi Master couldn't help but notice her hesitation, and he did not think it had to do about being shy. He stepped through the narrow vessel to kneel down before her, putting their eyes at the same height. "It's okay, dear. It's okay to be afraid of what comes. We're all afraid, but when the time comes, you have to put aside that fear in order to save the lives of your fellow soldiers. I can promise you all in here that I am more afraid than any of you; you're all my children today, and should even one of you fall, I would take full responsibility. You are all in my prayers." He gestured to the entire squad, turning his head to look them all in the eyes before settling back at the young mirialan. A shy smile had appeared on her face.

"Kaith Rassera. I come from Pelagon." Without hesitation Thurion reached out to hold her hand with his, squeezing it reassuringly. "That makes two of us, Kaith."

Her lips curled into a grin as comments seem to be thrown at her from every angle. It was unexpected that such a little remark would gain such attention. Then again, she some times was a lightning rod for attention.

"I'm perfectly capable of swimming. In this case, I just choose not to get my hair wet." She chuckled, hoping her comment were taken with the sarcasm she had intended it to have. They were heading into the heat of things, as they usually did. But that was the Silver Jedi way, and she would have it no other way. He laughter halted as a voice hit her ears, eyes raising to meet the armored figure of the same trooper who always seemed to get her assignments. Not that she was one to complain.

"Counselor Kawakami. The shuttle's ready. We should head out."

Her head nodded as she rose to her feet, turning to look to the trooper. "Very well, Captain Reigns. Lets take our leave." Her short stride into the shuttle began, bellowing back to the others. "If anyone is planning on staying dry, I'd advise you come aboard quickly. The ship waits for no one." Within a few moments, she standing in the cockpit, leaning over the shoulder of the Captain as the engines roared to life. "Captain. I must ask. Is there any specific reason you always seemed to be assigned to me?"

"You mean do I manipulate the assignments so that I make sure you get back alive every time? You better believe it."

She grinned, shaking her head as the ramp closed up, the shuttle lifting off for the journey down to the planet below. "Carry on, Captain. Carry on..."

Jeela nodded slowly at [member="Thurion Heavenshield"]'s comments, and felt slightly relived. He trusted her, even if she didn't. He'd be down there as well, which should prevent things from going to terribly wrong. Hopefully anyways. She hurried into her transport, surprised to once again be in the shuttle with that same Captain and Master Kawakami. She checked her assignment. It was this one. She gave a shrug and belted herself into a seat. She hated military insertions. Flying was for droids, mesoeciallymwithnthenpart it involved getting shot at. Hopefully this would be better than some of the others she'd heard about.
